Rinse, Repeat: Media, Intel Nudge Big Tech AGAIN, Warn of Foreign Disinfo Threat to 2024 Election

The Associated Press reported that unnamed U.S. intelligence officials are recycling a familiar narrative ahead of the 2024 election, claiming without evidence that the upcoming presidential election is a target for foreign disinformation campaigns. An unnamed official from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) has been briefing political candidates and government groups an unspecified number of times, alleging that the risks in 2024 are higher because “presidential elections draw more attention from our adversaries,” according to The Associated Press (AP). They made similar claims in 2020 when 51 intelligence officials falsely asserted that Hunter Biden’s infamous laptop had “all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.” This letter and the leftist media’s refusal to cover the story ultimately led Big Tech to censor anyone who dared to share the New York Post’s bombshell on the laptop. The AP’s claims also echo the allegations from 2016 when the leftist media and Obama-era intelligence operatives conveniently claimed, without evidence, that Russia had interfered in the election through alleged collusion with the Trump campaign. And now, in 2024, they're at it again. Tellingly, the unnamed ODNI official alleging the threat to the 2024 elections did not provide specific details about any alleged threats, according to the AP. The AP reporter, David Klepper, did not immediately respond to MRC’s request for comments about whether the official who briefed him was a political appointee or a career federal employee. The AP further reported that the official began raising the alarm in the fall of 2023, conveniently providing ample time and cover for the media to prepare their talking points to suggest that anything unfavorable to the left could be part of yet another Russian disinformation campaign. “Ever since we published our studies showing how Google and Facebook have interfered in our elections dozens of times, we’ve noticed a rapidly growing uptick in pressure for Big Tech to censor, especially those who pose a threat to Joe Biden,” said Dan Schneider, Vice President for Free Speech at the Media Research Center. He added, “Knowing how these tech giants have hired hundreds of U.S. intel officers, I am not surprised that the intel community is following suit.”  As reported by the AP, foreign influence campaigns can include “false or exaggerated claims” about candidates. But the AP failed to recount the infamous letter signed by 51 then-current former intelligence officials to discredit the Hunter Biden laptop bombshell featured in the New York Post just weeks before the 2020 election. In October 2020, the New York Post exposed President Joe Biden’s participation in the business dealings of his now-convicted felon son, according to emails and text messages uncovered in a laptop “abandoned” by the first son at a Delaware laptop shop. “If we are right, this is Russia trying to influence how Americans vote in this election, and we believe strongly that Americans need to be aware of this,”  the intelligence officials —allegedly spearheaded by now-Secretary of State Antony Blinken—claimed in the letter. But, to the detriment of Joe Biden and his scandal-plagued family, they were wrong. Fast forward to 2024, and the laptop, first revealed by the New York Post through bombshell reporting, was authenticated by federal prosecutors in the criminal trial against Hunter Biden for making false statements about drug abuse on a federal gun purchase form. Even before the DOJ confirmed the laptop was real, the New York Post went to great lengths to verify the laptop, which contained emails, text messages, and other politically damning content. The FBI had infamously seized the laptop from the retail shop where Hunter Biden had left it. Despite all this information, Big Tech companies — Twitter and Facebook in particular — used the now-debunked letter to censor the New York Post and Americans who dared to share the outlet’s exposé just weeks before the 2020 election. The consequences of Big Tech’s censorship actions were damning for the nation. According to a Media Research Center poll of 1,750 Biden voters, 9.4 percent said they would have voted against Biden had they known about the New York Post exposé—flipping Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin for Trump. Such a margin means that the 2020 election would have gone to former President Donald Trump. Conservatives are under attack. Contact your representatives and demand that Big Tech be held to account to mirror the First Amendment while providing transparency, clarity on so-called “hate speech” and equal footing for conservatives. HUGS! Hunter Biden Verdict Gets Mawkish Treatment at New York Times

HUGS! Hunter Biden Verdict Gets Mawkish Treatment at New York Times

Hunter Biden, the president’s son, was convicted this week of lying to a federally licensed gun dealer and thus illegally possessing a firearm in 2018. The Biden family got the full-on mawkish treatment from painfully sympathetic reporter Katie Rogers in Wednesday’s New York Times. “A Guilty Verdict for Hunter Biden Weighs on a Worried President Biden.” Hunter Biden was waiting for his father on the tarmac. He had just been convicted on three felony gun charges by a jury in Wilmington, Del., his hometown. His father had hastily rearranged his schedule and rushed up from Washington. Within hours of the verdict, President Biden traveled home, disembarked from Marine One and embraced his son. The president hugged Hunter Biden’s son and wife, as well, and bent over to kiss the head of his grandson, Beau Biden. To call the relationship between father and son battle tested is an understatement. Together they have survived the deaths of Mr. Biden’s first wife, eldest daughter and eldest son. They have weathered the fallout of crack addiction and alcohol abuse that has plagued Hunter Biden as well as several other members of the family. Over the past three years, they have been targeted by Republicans who have accused them of corruption and financial crimes. But for all of the challenges that have tested them and ultimately brought them closer together, a guilty verdict in a federal courtroom -- rendered in the middle of Mr. Biden’s final presidential campaign -- is a first. People close to Mr. Biden say he still believes in his son and his ability to stay clean. Hunter Biden has maintained that he has been sober since 2019. But the president has come to terms with the fact that there will be no easy end to his son’s legal problems. Rogers gave the president points for staying close to his troubled son, which really isn’t the highest bar to clear. Over years of personal and legal scandals surrounding his son, Mr. Biden has refused to shut out his son or treat him as a political liability -- in fact, the president has a tendency to pull his son closer the worse things seem to get. Rogers also manufactured this spin on CNN: Gush on 'Erin Burnett Outfront,' as the CNN host nudges @nytimes reporter Katie Rogers to tell people just how emotionally affecting all this Hunter legal drama is on the president. Or as AI summarizes: "It highlights the president's support for his son's recovery." pic.twitter.com/mYTzeYNfhu — Tim Graham (@TimJGraham) June 13, 2024 In September 2023, Rogers also treated the Hunter Biden crime story as a sentimental family one under the headline “Biden Puts Son First, In Spite of Political Price.” P.S. In Charlie Savage’s “Convictions of Biden’s Son and Trump Put the Justice System on Trial,” the paper’s legal reporter gave liberal Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) the last word but skipped his hypocrisy: Representative Jamie Raskin of Maryland, the ranking Democrat on Mr. Comer’s Oversight Committee, emphasized the differences in approach [between Republicans on Trump’s felony conviction vs. Democrats on Hunter Biden’s]. At the same hearing as Mr. McGovern, [Raskin] noted that he had “not heard a single Democrat anywhere in the country cry ‘fraud,’ cry ‘fixed,’ cry ‘rigged,’ cry ‘kangaroo court’” in response to Hunter Biden’s federal conviction, as Republicans had after Mr. Trump’s conviction -- even as they pushed a conspiracy theory that President Biden somehow controlled the state case. “Compare and contrast the difference in reaction between the Republicans and the Democrats,” Mr. Raskin said. “The Republicans are attacking our entire system of justice and the rule of law because they don’t like the way that one case came out, whereas the son of the president of the United States is prosecuted and I don’t hear a single Democrat crying foul.” This ignores that attacking the prosecutor in Hunter's case would mean attacking the Biden Justice Department's Special Counsel. Speaking of “attacking our entire system of justice,” two weeks ago Raskin attacked the Supreme Court in an impossibly lame Times op-ed and just introduced legislation to rein in the “rogue” court.

Rep. Burchett gives 'Democratic operative' a much-needed burn and requests a grilling for Blinken

Rep. Burchett gives 'Democratic operative' a much-needed burn and requests a grilling for Blinken

This week, Republican Rep. Tim Burchett (R) voted to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress and demanded an investigation into the former intelligence officials who misled the nation with an election-influencing letter about the Hunter Biden laptop in October 2020. The Tennessee congressman also exercised his comedic muscles. On Monday, a supporter online claiming Burchett's "humor is a national treasure" vowed to protect the congressman from the Ukrainian watch list of persons with apparently verboten opinions. Burchett recently joined Blaze Media and other American individuals and entities on a Biden State Department-linked publication's list of Americans who have expressed apparently verboten views about American aid for Ukraine. Burchett's initial response — "And what about my wit, charm, intellect and boyish good looks?" — did not go over well with one X user, who called the congressman a "traitor" to his state and to America. The congressman wrote back, "Your sweet words melt on my heart like butter and honey on a warm biscuit and leave an indelible mark on the digestive tract of my heart." Burchett evidently did not meet his quota for weekly bants with this brief online interaction. Burchett shared a video to X Wednesday, wherein he can be seen walking past a young man in khaki shorts while on his way to ostensibly attend to his duties in the Capitol. "Representative, will you commit to opposing a nationwide abortion ban?" asked the young man, identified by Burchett as a "paid Democrat operative" who daily "tries to trip me up." Without missing a beat, Burchett responded, "Will you commit to putting some sunscreen on those legs? Man, I gotta wear welding goggles out here, they're so white." — (@) The former Knoxville mayor also publicly admitted to giving one of his customary monologues on video only to realize he had forgotten to hit record. When a commenter suggested the Republican "pulled a Biden," Burchett provided a note of clarification: "Except I know where the soft serve ice cream machine is in the Whitehouse (sic)." Burchett did not, however, appear to be kidding when he asked House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) in a letter Tuesday to launch an immediate investigation into Secretary of State Antony Blinken and "certain former intelligence officials for interfering in the 2020 presidential election." James Clapper, Michael Hayden, Leon Panetta, and various other former intelligence officials active in the Obama years penned an open letter on Oct. 19, suggesting that the New York Post's report on Hunter Biden's incriminating laptop had "all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation." The 51 signatories allowed Politico, other media outlets, and then-candidate Joe Biden to infer from their letter that the Post's story was untrue and "consistent with some of the key methods Russia has used in its now multi-year operation to interfere in our democracy." The signatories of this election-influencing letter have proven unrepentant, even when confronted on multiple occasions with the authenticity of the Hunter Biden laptop and the accuracy of the Post's report. In his letter, Burchett zeroed in on particulars in the Post's report, specifically that the laptop "contained emails suggesting [Hunter Biden] was attempting to provide Ukrainian energy officials access to meet then-Vice President Joseph R. Biden." Extra to noting the veracity of the laptop, which helped get Hunter Biden convicted this week, Burchett referenced former CIA Deputy Director Michael Morell's testimony implicating Blinken as having "played a role in the inception" of the intelligence officials' letter. Morell told Congress that Blinken contacted him after encountering the damning Oct. 14, 2020, Post article, and that as a result of this exchange, he began drafting the letter with the aim to get it out before the Oct. 22 presidential debate, in which Biden used the statement to great effect. "These findings suggest the Biden campaign conspired with former intelligence officials to mislead the American public and influence the 2020 presidential election," wrote Burchett. Like Blaze News? Auto worker tells CNN his plan to defy union's Biden endorsement as groundswell of support for Trump grows

Members of the United Auto Workers told CNN why an increasing number from their ranks is supporting Donald Trump for president.Earlier this year, the UAW endorsed President Joe Biden for re-election. The union argued Biden is the right candidate because he stands with auto workers and understands the concerns of the working class.'Is their life better now than it was 10 years ago or worse? And for many, many working people, it's worse.'But that's not true, according to some UAW members from Michigan who recently spoke with CNN anchor John King.Chris Vitale, a worker at Chrysler, told King that he plans to defy the UAW's presidential endorsement and vote for Trump. The reason? Out-of-touch Democrats and the electric-vehicle agenda."The government seems to be appeasing the coasts. You know, everyone who lives in Manhattan thinks everyone should drive an electric car," Vitale said."I've watched this region go from the arsenal of democracy to now— we're happy if we can get a sports stadium or we're going to sell wheat or fireworks or whatever," he said. "It's absolutely pathetic what we have sunk to now. And our politicians — they're good with it. [Trump] isn't. So that's the difference."Bob King, a former UAW president, told King that auto workers support Trump because of the economy."People feel like the government and the establishment hasn't been delivered for them. Is their life better now than it was 10 years ago or worse? And for many, many working people, it's worse. Their standard of living has deteriorated. In some cases, their communities have deteriorated," Bob King said. — (@) King also spoke with Walter Robinson Jr., a Ford worker who supports Biden. He estimated that 40% of his co-workers support Trump because of the economy."Gas prices are still pretty high. Food when you go to the grocery store, every time — it's just me and my wife and it's $200 every time I go to the grocery store," Robinson said. The latest polls show Michigan is a toss-up. Some polls have Biden up by one or two points, while others show Trump leading by one or two points. What is not debatable, however, is the fact that Biden needs the Rust Belt — Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin — to win re-election. He won all of these states in 2020 en route to the White House. But as the comments from these Michigan voters show, Biden could easily lose those states as Americans remember the state of the economy under Trump.Like Blaze News?
