Complete List Of The Chills Albums And Songs

The Chills were formed in Dunedin, New Zealand as part of the “Dunedin Sound” movement that emerged in the early 1980s. Formed by singer-songwriter Martin Phillipps in 1980, The Chills are known for their jangly guitar sound, complex lyrics, and lush production. The band’s lineup has seen numerous changes over the years, with Phillipps as the constant member, guiding the group through its musical explorations. The Chills released their first full-length album, Brave Words, in 1987. To date, they have released seven studio albums, including critically acclaimed works such as Submarine Bells in 1990, which featured the hit single “Heavenly The post Complete List Of The Chills Albums And Songs appeared first on ClassicRockHistory.com.

Lost Altar Discovered on the Site Where Jesus was Crucified: It’s ‘Sensational’ and was Sitting in Plain Sight

Inside one of the most extensively researched historic sites—the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, where Jesus was crucified and buried—researchers have discovered the largest known medieval altar, which had been considered lost for decades. After its unveiling in 1149, the magnificently carved ‘high altar’ made a great impression on visitors for many centuries, […] The post Lost Altar Discovered on the Site Where Jesus was Crucified: It’s ‘Sensational’ and was Sitting in Plain Sight appeared first on Good News Network.

JD Vance DESTROYS Smug Jon Karl Over Tim Walz’s MN ‘Trans Refuge’ Law

Seldom are the Regime Media made to look as smugly biased and factually unprepared as in this contentious exchange between GOP vice presidential nominee Senator JD Vance (OH) and ABC’s Jon Karl, over Minnesota’s “transgender sanctuary law”. Watch as Vance completely annihilates Jon Karl’s smarmy line of “fact-based” questioning over Minnesota’s law, which was predicated upon a citation of former President Donald Trump (click “expand” to view full transcript): Click “expand” to view full transcript: ABC THIS WEEK 8/11/24 9:16 AM JON KARL: And finally before you go, we commit to this race to kind of sticking to the facts? I mean, I heard Donald Trump give this speech in Montana he just gave, and he said that Tim Walz has signed a letter letting the state kidnap children to change their gender, that- allowing pedophiles to claim, you know, I mean, to be exempt from crimes. This is not true. It's not remotely true. VANCE: What President Trump said, and I haven't watched the whole rally, but… KARL: What he said was not true. VANCE: What President Trump said, Jon, is that Tim Walz has supported taking children from their parents if the parents don't consent to gender reassignment. That is crazy. And, by the way, Tim Walz gets on his high horse about “mind your own damn business.” One way of minding your own damn business, Jon, is to not try to take my children away from me if I have different moral views than you. KARL: He has not signed a law into the state to kidnap children to change their identity, Jon.  KARL: That's crazy. VANCE: He has absolutely done this stuff… It’s not crazy, Jon. C’mon. KARL: It's not what he signed. VANCE: You should not be able to take people’s children away from them... KARL: And that’s not what he’s proposed. VANCE: If you disagree with decisions about gender reassignment- yes he has, proposed that, Jon. He absolutely has. Now, here's the more important thing, Jon. Why aren’t we talking about inflation? Why aren't we talking about the fact that groceries are unaffordable thanks to Kamala Harris' policies and so is housing? We've talked a little bit about the border. Why aren't we talking about the fact that the entire world is on fire because of Kamala Harris' foreign policy? She's just asleep at the wheel. We have a set of plans. You talk about sticking to the facts. Donald Trump and I have a set of plans… KARL: (unint) VANCE: ...to lower the costs of housing and food. To bring peace back to the world with American leadership. That is all that we want to do, and I think it's telling that the Harris Administration is focused so much on these side issues instead of on the real substance… KARL: I mean, we're… VANCE: …why Americans are unhappy with Kamala Harris' leadership. KARL: To be clear, I just asked you about Donald Trump brought up, not something the Harris campaign brought up. I was asking you about Donald Trump’s words, but thank you…thank you… VANCE: No, I’m saying, that… we're talking about the Harris campaign. What are their policy views? They don't have a policy position on their website. Should she sit down and answer tough questions with you? KARL: Yes. Absolutely.  VANCE: I think she should. Where is she? But we respect the American People enough… KARL: We- we hope she’ll be on the show soon. VANCE:  I hope so too, Jon, because the person who wants to be our president ought to sit down for some tough interviews. I'm willing to do it and I wish she would too. KARL: All right. JD Vance. Thanks for your time. We really appreciate it. VANCE: Thanks, Jon, Appreciate it, man. The sage political strategist Mike Tyson once noted that everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face. Karl’s plan was to try to put Vance into a defensive posture over what Trump hay have said at his Bozeman, MT rally. But it appears that Karl didn’t do his homework first.  Minnesota did, in fact, pass a bill establishing itself as a “trans refuge state”. Per the Minnesota House’s own statement upon passage of the bill: Specifically, the bill would prohibit the enforcement of a court order for removal of a child or enforcement of another state’s law being applied in a pending child protection action in Minnesota when the law of another state allows the child to be removed from the parent or guardian for receiving medically necessary health care or mental health care that respects the gender-identity of the patient. The text of the bill’s language might read like confusing legalese, but The Washington Post’s writeup does not. In March 2023, Walz issued an executive order protecting trans patients’ ability to receive medical care that helps them live according to their gender identity. The order shields patients, parents and providers from punishment by other states for seeking and delivering such care. The next month, he signed legislation enshrining similar protections that supporters said would establish Minnesota as a “trans refuge.” After Vice President Kamala Harris named Walz as her running mate, conservatives began attacking those actions, falsely accusing him of allowing the state to terminate parental custody if parents prevent their trans children from receiving gender-affirming care. The Minnesota law allows courts to have “temporary emergency jurisdiction” during custody disputes crossing state lines if a child has been unable to obtain gender-affirming care. Kat Rohn, executive director of OutFront, an LGBTQ+ advocacy organization in St. Paul, Minn., said the law gives courts the ability to resolve conflicts when parents disagree on whether their child should receive gender-affirming care; it does not remove custody from parents who decline such care. Even this is dishonest. If a court, which assumed emergency jurisdiction, awards custody to a parent wanting to transition their child over one who does not, then in fact custody was ripped from parents not wanting their child to be pumped full of hormones prior to sex-change mutilation. Also not mentioned: that courts are required to rule based on what they determine is "in the best interests of the child". Nothing stops a rogue judge from stripping a child from their parents if they deem it is in the child's best interest to enter into "gender affirmation therapy" in advance of sex-change mutilation.  It is also widely reported that  But the unprepared Karl smugly laughs this off, saying “that’s crazy”. Once Vance thoroughly and decisively pantses him over the Minnesota law, he pivots on to inflation, prices, and Kamala Harris’s general unavailability to the media for unscripted questions. Karl can at this point do little more than muster hope that Harris graces them with an interview, and ends the interview. It often is the case that the Regime Media dismiss as “crazy”, “unhinged”, or “conspiracy theories” anything that makes the left look bad, only to pretend that they never did such a thing when confronted with the facts. This was also the case today, with Karl smarmily trying to make anyone opposed to the pumping full of hormones and surgical mutilation of children as "crazy". Unfortunately for Karl, Vance came loaded for bear.

'John Carter of Mars': The male archetype we need

One of the valuable things about reading older literature is the way it forces us to question certain assumptions we hold as "modern" Westerners. Not just assumptions about "democracy" and whatever else you learned in AP government but about the very essence of our human nature. A hero for our timeFor me, a prime example of this is Edgar Rice Burroughs' "John Carter of Mars" series. Reading these books is like a splash of cold water in a cultural desert. In them, you meet a character unlike any current male protagonist. What the dissident right desperately needs is to cultivate in itself a spirit of joy and a zest for life. It is this energy that can bring about true change, not the moping and whining you see so often on X. While it's notable that John Carter is a Confederate soldier portrayed in a supremely sympathetic light, there's more to the character than his political incorrectness. He also brings with him a particular brand of masculinity that has been all but forgotten in today’s discourse. To illustrate my point, here are a few choice quotes from the 1912 installment "A Princess of Mars":Fear is a relative term and so I can only measure my feelings at that time by what I had experienced in previous positions of danger and by those that I have passed through since; but I can say without shame that if the sensations I endured during the next few minutes were fear, then may God help the coward, for cowardice is of a surety its own punishment.I have ever been prone to seek adventure and to investigate and experiment where wiser men would have left well enough alone.I do not believe that I am made of the stuff which constitutes heroes, because, in all of the hundreds of instances that my voluntary acts have placed me face to face with death, I cannot recall a single one where any alternative step to that I took occurred to me until many hours later.A forgotten archetypeJohn Carter is a chivalric ideal, a man who embodies all the masculine virtues in their perfect Aristotelian mean — or at least comes close to it. Duty, but not weakness. Strength, but not cruelty. Adventure, but not recklessness. He’s a man who knows what he wants and goes after it with every ounce of his being. He does not shirk from battle; in fact, he embraces it. Battle is in his blood, and he’s called to it as his vocation. He’s a leader of men, at all times honorable and fair, ingenious and tenacious in his pursuit of victory. You’d rather have no one else by your side and rather anyone else against you. He is a hero and a true king, an archetype that has been lost in today's culture. When was the last time you saw a man portrayed so favorably on television or in a movie? When was the last time you saw a man like John Carter?Away with 'flawed' protagonistsI can tell you this, it certainly wasn’t in the 2012 "John Carter" movie (despite the title, actually an adaptation of "Princess of Mars.")Now, I don’t want to rag too harshly on this movie as it at least succeeds in portraying Carter as the hero. But it does insist on making him "flawed" in a way that is typical of the last few decades of pop culture. We've swung from strong men being strong men to weak men becoming strong men and finally to weak men being weak men. You can see this everywhere, even in Peter Jackson’s acclaimed "Lord of the Rings" movies. Tolkien's Aragorn is far from a reluctant hero in the books. He doesn’t second-guess himself. But for some reason, Hollywood writers in 2001 could not conceive of such confidence. And it has only gotten worse since then. It's easy to trace the way masculinity has been increasingly portrayed as tragic in some way. When men are not outright evil, they’re to be demeaned as the fundamentally lesser of the two sexes. It is always the man who is less capable, less aware, less actualized. If the man is loving, he must also be bumbling and weak. If he’s ambitious, he must also be cruel and tyrannical. And if he is genuinely well-meaning, he must be tragically removed and replaced by his superior feminine clone.Gone are the days when fathers raised sons. Now they must raise their daughters as sons, and everyone is left unhappier as a result.Choose vitalityWhy so much bleakness? As if the constant stream of bad news weren't enough, our storytellers constantly amplify our worst aspects, offering the most cynical, hopeless, and demoralizing media available to human imagination. We are so inundated with failure and heartbreak that it’s easy to forget that we have the power to reject it. We don’t have to have male protagonists who are left biting their nails until adventure takes them anyway. We don’t have to have incompetent fathers drinking themselves to an early grave. And we certainly don’t have to have eunuchs for sons who roll over on their bellies and wait for the girlboss to arrive.Dissident literature, if it is to stand against left-wing art, must be uplifting to the soul — and especially to this masculine spirit. It must awaken the heroism in men again. And while this does not mean all men are called to be warriors, all men are called to be as virtuous as John Carter, to live out whatever his vocation may be with that same vitality. While I do have a few tiny quibbles, @LastThings4 is fundamentally correct in his assertion that what the dissident right needs is not a Dostoevsky-esque, 800-page manuscript of depression and nihilism. If anyone wants that, they can just go read Dostoevsky.Something worth fighting forWhat the dissident right desperately needs is to cultivate in itself a spirit of joy and a zest for life. It is this energy that can bring about true change, not the moping and whining you see so often on X. It is only in celebration of the good things — no matter how small they are — that you will find men willing to fight. It is only in cultivating a spirit of hope that you will find young men who are willing to take a stand for it. No one fights for a nihilistic cause that can offer only varying degrees of defeat. In the Old Testament, the Ark of Covenant was stolen by the Philistines, and they made a mockery of it, placing it before their own heathen god in victory over Israel. All seemed lost. Then, at the last possible moment, God overthrew the pagan idol and the Ark was returned safely to Jerusalem. Upon the Ark’s arrival, King David was so overcome with joy that he began leaping and dancing in the procession, going so far as to make a fool of himself with his outburst. It is with that same overflowing joy that men must begin to live again — if they are to live at all. Liberals aren't the cool ones anymore

'Many Men (Wish Death)'Following the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg told Bloomberg, "Seeing Donald Trump get up after getting shot in the face and pump his fist in the air with the American flag is one of the most bada** things I’ve ever seen in my life.”In the era of hip-hop, Trump has also garnered support among rappers, beginning with Kanye West and including Lil Wayne, Kodak Black, and 50 Cent, whose “Many Men (Wish Death)” quickly became an informal Trump anthem and even an entrance song for Trump’s recent interview with Kick streamer Adin Ross.Despite the fact that rappers have long described themselves as the “black Donald Trump,” the media has continued to insist that Trump is racist.'Is Donald Trump cool now?' No — and thank God for that. For most of his life, Donald Trump has been a household name. He has spent decades surrounded by the zeitgeist’s most talented and famous athletes, actors, politicians, musicians, directors, writers, models, you name it. He has played an unprecedented role in American popular culture, at every level. He has even three species named after him.Recall Bill Clinton playing the saxophone in Ray-Bans on "The Arsenio Hall Show," or Obama on late-night TV head-bobbing to Kendrick Lamar or getting the “Hail Caesar” from LeBron James. A year into Trump’s presidency, Vox described Obama as “the perfect pop culture president.” This worshipful swoon by New York Magazine was just one of the many obsessive characterizations of Obama as cool. The media reveals its hand by referring to any president except Trump as the king of online. Meanwhile, Trump battles the cultures that Obama advanced and Clinton made cool. You can see it at Trump rallies. In his supporters, there’s a belligerent disgust with the niceties and refinements of anything highbrow, what conservatives often describe as elitism and liberals call culture.Over the course of the last 30 years, he’s been impersonated by five different actors on "Saturday Night Live." Meaning, they keep leaving, but he stays relevant. It doesn’t matter that their depictions are often negative. It’s about the power of his character, his ability to draw people in without them even realizing it. But a new version has emerged with Shane Gillis, who was canceled by "SNL" and recently starred as Trump in an episode of "Kill Tony."So as The Hill recently asked, “Is Donald Trump cool now?”No — and thank God for that. Coconut trees of brat summerMeanwhile, the corporate media has played Cinderella’s stepmother by forcefully shoving Kamala’s oversized foot into the glass slipper. The media wants you to believe that she is a master chef, who has “perfected the pantsuit” with “presidential style” and power. In a bid to appeal to Gen Z, the media has pushed the narrative that Trump and Vance are “weird.” The New York Times has also tried to portray Harris as cool and subversive, desperate to change the long-held perception that Harris is annoying and uncool. She brought in Megan Thee Stallion to twerk her support amid poetic refrains. She even included her old friends on “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” Kamala’s public image has been slathered with constant layers of meme culture, the work of a media that can't stop trying to make “brat summer" happen. Similarly, the media has sought to recast some of Kamala’s embarrassments as cool, like the “coconut tree” meme. And all of this passes with an air of the counterfeit whose fakeness can barely be spotted. We all know that the left owns culture, in the more florid sense of the word. You can find recipes for vegan pasta dishes in the New York Times, next to book reviews and real estate and sports, and the news is not always about politics. Or at least not at the fore. Although this is less often the case. And it is more often the case that, on the left, politics subsumes everything personal, leading to an exodus of people who just want to read a good story without all the highflown political theories and judgment. It used to be that politics came after comedy, or art, or music, or literature. So while the liberal activist class has possessed coolness for quite some time now, the past decade or so, it seems to have lost that claim. Its members are, in fact, no longer cool. They increasingly adore ugly art. These days, they’re abominations. And more than a few of them are proper villains. And they’re miserable at a time when sorrow has lost its Woody Allen-imposed charm. Meanwhile, conservatism has been correlated to lower levels of mental illness and higher rates of happiness. This instability shows — the opposite of the "Cool Hand Luke" approach. Americans are growing more conservative by the year. Occasionally, they even make conservatives look cool, like the time the New York Times inadvertently hailed Ben Shapiro “a provocative gladiator,” which Media Matters rebuked in its characteristically uncool way. Because the masses are ultimately conservative in nature. It’s the silence of companionship that tricks them into believing they’re alone. Despite CNN’s gaslighting claim that conservatives are “masters of verbal jiu-jitsu,” the left is masterful with voice and persuasion. Victories come through humor, derision of the over-serious edgelords of cool — like the time Elon Musk required Twitter employees to sign a document that proclaimed he is an “extremely fun” guy, a “cool individual.”So who gets to be cool? Who does the crown belong to? Not conservatives, never, and who cares? It's ridiculous anyway. Instead, put on a crown of thorns. Be content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities, all for the sake of Christ, so that, whenever you’re weak, you’re strong.
