macOS 15.4 RC 2 now available with these features

Ahead of the macOS 15.4 release next week, Apple has seeded the second RC version of this future software update. It's unclear what Apple has fixed with this new version or added. In general, this software brings Apple Intelligence improvements and is a bit more feature-packed than the previous macOS 15.3 update. Here’s everything we know so far about macOS Sequoia’s latest update. There are two main Apple Intelligence features landing on macOS 15.4 that are currently in beta testing: All-new Mail experience: Mail is introducing new ways for users to manage their inboxes. On-device categorization organizes and sorts incoming emails into Primary for personal and time-sensitive emails, Transactions for confirmations and receipts, Updates for news and social notifications, and Promotions for marketing emails and coupons. Mail also features a new digest view that pulls together all of the relevant emails from a business, allowing users to quickly scan for what’s important at the moment. New Apple Intelligence languages: Apple is adding Chinese, French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and localized English for Singapore and India to Apple Intelligence. In addition to these changes, Apple just added seven new emojis to the macOS 15.4 RC 2. The Unicode Consortium introduced these figures last May in beta. So far, the new emojis expected for iOS 18 include a face with bags under the eyes, a fingerprint, a leafless tree, a root vegetable, a harp, a shovel, and splatter. Still, if you don’t care that much about emojis anymore, Apple now lets you create your own with Genmoji. With macOS 15.4 RC, Apple tweaked the Genmoji button on the keyboard so it’s more easily discoverable, even though they’re only considered emojis on Apple’s platforms. Finally, the company announced that lossless support is coming to AirPods Max with macOS 15.4. A few days ago, Apple seeded the release candidate versions of iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, tvOS 18.4, visionOS 2.4, and watchOS 11.4. BGR will let you know if we discover anything new on these upcoming software updates. Brown Sugar Glazed Ham

Brown Sugar Glazed Ham

Cooked to perfection, this Brown Sugar Glazed ham is full of flavor! Brushed with a thick glaze, it comes out so tender and is the perfect holiday centerpiece! A TASTY HOLIDAY HAM RECIPE When it comes to a holiday main dish, you absolutely cannot go wrong with this Brown Sugar Glazed Ham. With a delicious glaze that is baked to sticky perfection, there is no lack of flavor when it comes to this recipe! This ham will definitely be the star centerpiece to any of your holiday gatherings. Ham is my personal favorite holiday dish so I take it very seriously. Let me show you step-by-step how to make this beautifully delicious ham! FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: What size ham do I need? For this recipe you will want to find a 10 pound bone-in ham. You will want to find as close to 10 pounds as you can so the cooking times and ingredients used will work. Why do I add the glaze 3 times? Adding the glaze in steps ensures that the ham gets layered in the flavor. If you add it all at once it will drip off off into the pan and not stick to the ham for the maximum flavor. Can I use the pan drippings? Yes! We absolutely love using the pan drippings as a sauce over the slices. We also cut all the meat off the bone, then thinly slice it. Then we add the slices back into the drippings in the pan and then serve ourselves from there. It keeps the ham moist while adding even more flavor to it. Can I use another mustard? Want a little twist? You can add whole grain mustard or spicy brown mustard for a different but equally tasty flavor! How do I know when my ham is done? The ham can be removed from the oven when a kitchen thermometer inserted into the thickest part (without touching bone) reaches 130 degrees F. The ham will then need to rest where it will continue to warm up until it reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees F which is the recommended safe eating temperature according to food safety guidelines. So make sure you let your ham rest the allotted amount of time so it can reach the proper internal temperature. What does it mean when the ham says “precooked”? Most hams sold in US grocery stores are precooked, meaning that they have already been cooked and reheating is what you are technically doing to the ham. It is rare to find a raw ham at a regular grocery store. You can look at the label on your ham and it will usually say cured, smoked or baked or obviously precooked. They all mean the same thing, that reheating is what you are doing with the ham itself. This is why we go through the process of heating it using various recipes like this one and making sure that the internal temperature at the end is 145 degrees F. Precooked hams are a way to extend the shelf life of the ham itself. Regardless of what the label says, you will need to cook your ham again to make it warmed and safe to consume. Can I use a spiral cut ham? I have not tested this recipe using a spiral cut ham since I am not a fan. Although they are convenient, in my opinion, spiral cut hams tend to dry out too easily. I would stick to the bone-in ham for this recipe. What if I don’t have ground cloves? If you do not have ground cloves, you can use ground cinnamon in its place or just leave it out completely. What can I make with leftover ham? Some of my personal favorites are: ham salad, Senate Bean and Ham Soup, Crock Pot Soup Beans and Ham, Creamy Ham Fettuccine, or perhaps a Ham and Potato Salad! How do I store leftovers? This can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator where it will keep for up to 5 days. You can also freeze this ham. Slice it all up and place in a freezer safe container and it will keep for up to 3 months. To defrost, remove to the refrigerator overnight until thawed. The best way to reheat leftovers is to heat them in the drippings on the stovetop or oven. INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (SEE RECIPE CARD BELOW FOR THE FULL RECIPE) bone-in ham – I know it is so tempting to get a spiral cut ham but please don’t. If you don’t cook ham very often, it is VERY easy for a serial ham to get very dry. Please just cut it yourself. You will end up with a far juicier, more flavorful ham if you get a regular bone-in ham. It will usually be cheaper as well. Look for a ham that has some fat on it too. That extra fat equals flavor! unsalted chicken stock – the ham is already salted so this is why I suggest unsalted chicken stock. pineapple juice – you can get a sugar free pineapple juice if you need to but just a small can of 100% juice works great. light brown sugar yellow mustard – I know this seems strange but mustard with pork is a match made in heaven. You aren’t going to taste a strong taste of mustard here. The combination of sweet and tanginess in this recipe really elevates the overall flavor. garlic powder onion powder ground cloves – see my Frequently Asked Questions above if you don’t have any cloves on hand. HOW TO MAKE A BROWN SUGAR GLAZED HAM: Preheat the oven to 325°F. Take a large piece of foil and make it into a ring, place it in the middle of your roasting pan, and set aside. Remove any fat from the ham if desired. Keeping some on helps keep the ham moist. Place the ham, cut side down onto the tin foil ring. Score all over the outside of the ham into a diamond-shaped pattern. Mix the chicken stock and ½ cup of pineapple juice together, and pour this into the roasting pan. In a small bowl, stir together the remaining ¼ cup pineapple juice, brown sugar, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, and cloves until combined. Brush ⅓ of the glaze all over the ham.  Cover the pan, not touching the ham, with a large piece of foil. You may need two overlapping pieces of foil to fit. Bake for an hour and a half to two hours until an internal temperature reaches 110°F. Remove the foil and turn the oven up to 375°F. Brush half of the remaining glaze all over the ham. Bake an additional 20-30 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 130°F.  Turn the broiler on low. Brush the ham with the remaining glaze and broil until the glaze becomes bubbly and caramelizes on the outside of the ham. Make sure to keep an eye on it, so it doesn’t burn. Remove from the oven and let the ham rest for 20 minutes before slicing (don’t skip this step!) Serve with the drippings as a quick, delicious sauce over the ham slices. WANT MORE DELICIOUS RECIPES? Funeral Potatoes

Funeral Potatoes

Funeral Potatoes are a simple side dish recipe with creamy, cheesy potatoes and a crunchy, buttery topping. They are comfort food that everyone loves! A DELICIOUS, CREAMY POTATO SIDE DISH Funeral potatoes seems like such a sad name for such a delicious dish but they got this name for the fact that they always seemed to show up at funerals so folks just began associating them with that occasion. I got the original recipe from a friend who was from Utah (where this particular dish originated – at least the name seems to have originated from there anyways.) I have another friend that prefers to call them party potatoes – ha! I have since tweaked that original recipe a bit to add more seasoning. Whatever you call them, I hope you will call them delicious! FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What are Funeral Potatoes? Often when someone passes, we all just want to do something for those who are grieving. So, we often gather around after a funeral and eat and comfort each other. These Funeral Potatoes are one of those foods that many folks have made in a time of need. Cheesy and creamy with a crunchy chip topping. It tastes so good and maybe brings just a little bit of comfort in each bite. The recipe was thought to have first been introduced in Utah by the Mormon community. What do you serve with Funeral Potatoes I think this would be a wonderful side dish with Crock Pot Mississippi Pot Roast! Or perhaps even some Chicken Fried Steak for a total comfort food experience! Can you freeze Funeral Potatoes? Yes! Prepare recipe as written but do not add potato chip topping. Wrap them up really well with plastic wrap and then aluminum foil to protect against freezer burn. When ready to cook, remove the plastic wrap (keep on aluminum foil) and bake for about an hour. Then continue with the rest of the recipe with the potato chip/butter topping. How do you store leftover Funeral Potatoes? Leftovers should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator where they will last for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave until warm. INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (SEE RECIPE CARD BELOW FOR THE FULL RECIPE) O’Brien potatoes – You can get the kind with or without peppers. Also, you can cut up raw potatoes but you’re going to want to cut them up pretty small (about 1/2-inch) so they will cook in the amount of time I have given below. garlic salt – you could just use garlic powder and add a little bit of salt to the mix. Use the same amount of garlic powder (1 teaspoon) and then add about 1/4 teaspoon of salt or leave out the salt altogether if you prefer or need to cut back on the added salt. pepper onion flakes – you could also use onion powder (same amount). dried chives – this is optional but I think it gives it an extra layer of flavor along with some color. shredded cheddar cheese – feel free to switch up the cheeses to watch you enjoy. I think Colby Jack or pepper jack would both work great here. cream of chicken soup – you could pretty much any cream of something soup you think would taste good here. Cream of mushroom, cream of onion, cream of garlic, etc. You could even make Homemade Cream of Chicken Soup! If you have any salt sensititivites, you could use a no or low sodium cream of chicken soup. sour cream – I know a lot of people hate sour cream but you don’t taste it as a separate ingredient in this. If you are totally against it you could use plain Greek yogurt or even mayonnaise. I generally tell people just use whatever you normally use in recipes that all for sour cream. You could probably even use a bit more cream of chicken soup. crushed potato chips – I like wavy potato chops and I make sure to crush them up pretty small. Personally I don’t like big chunks of potato chips in my topping. butter – I use salted butter because that is always what I have on hand but you could certainly use unsalted butter. HOW TO MAKE FUNERAL POTATOES: Place potatoes into refrigerator to thaw out overnight. Or place on counter to thaw for about an hour. Preheat oven to 375f degrees. Spray an 11×7-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray (you can also use a 9×13-inch baking dish.) In a large bowl, mix together the thawed potatoes with seasonings and cheese. Then stir in cream of chicken soup and sour cream. Spread mixture into prepared baking dish. Cover baking dish with nonstick foil and bake for about 45 minutes (until bubbly.) Crush potato chips (measure out 2 cups after crushing.) After potatoes are cooked, spread crushed chips evenly over potatoes. Pour melted butter over crushed chips. Place back into oven and cook uncovered for an additional 10 minutes. If you want a darker topping, pop it under the broiler for a minute or two. Allow potatoes to cool for about 10 minutes before serving. Then dig in! CRAVING MORE RECIPES?
