Two-time Academy Award-winner Sally Field told her “horrific” story of having an illegal abortion in Mexico in an effort to convince followers to vote for Kamala Harris. The 77-year-old actress posted a video on Instagram on Sunday explaining the ordeal. She began by saying she was still very “shamed” by it because she was “raised in the 50s.” “I had no choices in my life. I didn’t have a lot of family support in any way, or finances,” Field said.  Field recalled being driven across the border to Tijuana, Mexico, by her family doctor, his wife, and Field’s mother after she had become pregnant prior to abortion becoming legal in the United States. She was 17 at the time.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Sally Field (@sallyfield) She said the doctor gave her cash in an envelope and told her to go to a nearby building on a “scary” and “scrungy looking” street. “It was beyond hideous and life-altering,” Field said of having the experience, adding that she had “no anesthetic” beyond “a few pumps of ether.” She said she “felt everything.” “And then I realized that the technician was actually molesting me,” the celeb continued. “So I had to figure out, how can I make my arms move to push him away? It was just this absolute pit of shame. Then when it was finished, they said, ‘Go, go, go, go, go,’ like the building was on fire. They didn’t want me there. It was illegal.” “I’ve been so hesitant to do this, to tell my horrific story,” Field wrote in the post caption. “It was during a time even worse than now. A time when contraception was not readily available and only if you were married. But I feel that so many women of my generation went through similar, traumatic events and I feel stronger when I think of them. I believe, like me, they must want to fight for their grandchildren and all the young women of this country.” The “Mrs. Doubtfire” star said she’s supporting Harris for president because the California Democrat supports “reproductive freedom.” “PLEASE. Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz, have made abortion access a main talking point of their campaign, falsely claiming that Republican candidate Donald Trump supports a nationwide abortion ban.

Milton strengthened into a Category 5 hurricane on Monday but has since been downgraded to Category 4. Forecasters warn it will still be a powerful hurricane with the potential for “catastrophic” damage upon reaching Florida. Evacuation orders have been issued along the Gulf Coast, and shelters have been opened for those seeking refuge. Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency in dozens of counties and suspended tolls to help people on the move. The Tampa Bay area, which got submerged when Hurricane Helene slammed Florida less than two weeks ago, could get hit hard once again with Milton unleashing up to 15 feet of storm surge. Tampa Mayor Jane Castor, a Democrat, issued a dire warning during a Monday evening interview on CNN. “I can say this without any dramatization whatsoever: If you choose to stay in one of those evacuation areas, you are going to die,” she declared.

Former President Donald Trump accused “corrupt” media outlets of hiding negative stories about Kamala Harris during a Tuesday interview with The Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro. Shapiro and Trump discussed a new report that second gentleman Doug Emhoff allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend. A number of major media outlets have not reported on the explosive story, prompting accusations of bias from commentators like Megyn Kelly and Chris Cuomo, who suggest this shows a double standard. Trump shared with Shapiro that he watched MSNBC, or “MSDNC” as Trump said, and saw the network interviewing Emhoff, who did not face any questions about the alleged assault or about his previous affair with his nanny, also exposed by The Daily Mail. “It was like a love fest,” Trump said. “Never asked him about that. Never asked him about the other one.” “He was being interviewed on MSNBC…and it was like a love fest. The Daily Mail spoke with three friends of the woman who corroborated this account. The story did not identify Emhoff’s ex-girlfriend, and only revealed that she is a “successful New York attorney.” The White House has not responded to The Daily Wire’s requests for comment on the allegations. An unnamed spokesman for Emhoff told Semafor that the report is “untrue” and that “any suggestion that he would or has ever hit a woman is false.”
