Former GOP Lawmaker Rips Schiff For Bringing ‘The Circus’ To Senate Confirmation Hearing: ‘An Embarrassment’

Far-left Democrat Adam Schiff spent years representing his deep-blue state of California in the House of Representatives. After winning his Senate bid last year, however, he is now legislating from the upper chamber on Capitol Hill. At least one of his former colleagues from the other side of the aisle is clearly not impressed with how he is fitting in so far. Following Schiff’s combative questioning of Kash Patel, President Donald Trump’s pick to lead the FBI, Sen. Devin Nunes (R-CA) weighed in on the performance, per Fox News: “The American people lost him in the United States House of Representatives. That was a gain for the House of Representatives. But I think the Democratic senators are now realizing that the circus has come to them,” former Congressman Devin Nunes said on “The Will Cain Show” Thursday. “I thought Adam Schiff was an embarrassment like he normally is. He clearly has an ax to grind with Kash Patel, because it was Kash on our team that made a mockery of this guy year after year after year for lying to the American people.” Schiff sparred with Patel during his confirmation hearing on Thursday, particularly over a recording of a song released by Jan. 6 Capitol riot inmates. While Schiff’s fellow leftists celebrated his line of questioning as effective, many other commenters determined that Patel handled himself admirably in the face of such aggressive questioning: I’ve been looking forward to watching Adam Schiff make a fool of himself while screaming at Kash Patel for a while now. It did not disappoint. Well worth 8 minutes of your time! I’d probably react like this too if one of the guys I was caught illegally spying on was about to… pic.twitter.com/Ts3ansvMgU — TheStormHasArrived (@TheStormRedux) January 30, 2025 Where is it written that a good and decent man like Kash Patel has to be subject to ridicule from a guy like Adam Schiff, who was pardoned bc of the crimes he committed against this country Who else wants Leader Thune to remove Adam Schiff from participating in these hearings pic.twitter.com/BvWNavbjOV — @Chicago1Ray (@Chicago1Ray) January 31, 2025 Adam Schiff appeared markedly unsettled during his exchange with Kash Patel. There appears to be concern from Schiff regarding the implications of Patel’s potential confirmation. Upon confirmation, thorough investigations may follow! Confirm Kash Patel! Let justice be served. pic.twitter.com/WDObUKhU9x — The Independent Major (@TheINDEPMajor) January 31, 2025 Adam Schiff is clearly terrified of Kash Patel and was WILDLY unprepared for this hearing. Lie after lie. Dude has nothing on Kash. What else is new from Adam Schiff? pic.twitter.com/ObWKa56g0k — AmericanPapaBear (@AmericaPapaBear) January 30, 2025 The Independent covered one exchange that showed Schiff at his most pugnacious: “I want you to turn around. There are Capitol police officers behind you. They’re guarding us. Take a look at them right now. Turn around,” said Schiff. “I want you to look at them if you can, if you have the courage to look them in the eye, Mr. Patel, and tell them you’re proud of what you did.” “Tell them you’re proud that you raised money off of people that assaulted their colleagues, that pepper sprayed them, that beat them with poles,” he added. “Tell them you’re proud of what you did. Mr. Patel, they’re right there. They’re guarding you today. Tell them how proud you are.” “That’s an abject lie,” said Patel. “I’ve never, never, ever accepted violence against law enforcement.” Following the song’s release, Patel bragged about its success on social media. “Buh Bye Miley, Taylor, Rihanna, and all the rest who spent Millions trying for the coveted Number 1 spot,” he wrote in 2023. “Hello new Music Mogul @realDonaldTrump. We just took a flame thrower to the music industry.” Trump took part in the recording, reciting the Pledge of Allegiance while the prison choir sang the national anthem. At his rallies, Trump would at times salute as the song played while images of the Capitol riot were shown on big screens. Like many of Trump’s nominees, Patel showed his loyalty by refusing to say the president lost the 2020 election. During questioning from Peter Welch, a Vermont Democratic Senator, Patel repeatedly refused to say that Biden won the election more than four years ago. “Can you say the words Joe Biden won the 2020 election?” Welch asked. “Joe Biden was the president of the United States,” Patel responded. “I can say the words Donald Trump won. I don’t like to say it, but I must say it,” said Welch. “And you cannot say that Joe Biden won the election.” “What I can say is the same for both of them, Senator, both of their elections were certified, and they are both… one was and one now is president,” Patel responded. Here’s a clip of Nunes’ remarks on “The Will Cain Show”:

Chuck Todd Leaving NBC News After Nearly Two Decades

NBC News chief political analyst and former moderator of “Meet The Press” Chuck Todd has announced that he’s leaving the network after nearly two decades. “Today is my last day… at NBC,” Todd told his audience on Friday on his “Chuck Toddcast” podcast. “I am leaving a bit earlier than we had all originally planned, but there is a reason for it.” “I’m pretty excited by a few new projects that are on the cusp,” he added, but gave no details. “The podcast is coming with me, and it’s not going away.” The former NBC News host said there would be a “little hiatus” for his podcast, until he finds a new home for it. Chuck Todd tells colleagues he’s leaving NBC News — taking his ‘Chuck Toddcast’ with him https://t.co/2gjUNd6aoM pic.twitter.com/4LLKSGoW9c — New York Post (@nypost) January 31, 2025 Todd sent a letter to his colleagues before his announcement on the podcast that his last day at NBC News was Friday, the Associated Press reported. “The reason why I am ready to move, I think the media has a lot of work to do to win back the trust and I think, frankly, national media isn’t the place that’s going to be able to do it,” Todd said. “People trust local media more than they trust national media. And I’m convinced the best place to start is from the bottom up,” he added. “National media can’t win trust back without having a robust partner locally, and trying to game algorithms is no way to inform and report.” “People are craving community and that’s something national media or the major social media companies can’t do as well as local media,” Todd continued, noting that reporting is how you win back support. “If you do this job seeking popularity, or to simply be an activist, you are doing this job incorrectly.” In a statement to Variety about Todd’s departure, NBC News said “We’re grateful for Chuck’s many contributions to our political coverage during his nearly two-decade career at NBC News and for his deep commitment to ‘Meet the Press’ and its enduring legacy. We wish him all the best in his next endeavors.” Todd joined the network in 2007 as a political director and took over as moderator of “Meet the Press” from 2014-2023 from David Gregory, who was picked to run the popular show following the sudden death in June 2008 of the hugely successful “MTP” moderator Tim Russert. The current “MTP” moderator is Kristen Welker. Related: Chuck Todd Rips The Bidens: They ‘Put The Entire Democratic Party…In The Position It’s In Now’

Radical Anti-Israel Activists At Columbia Pour Cement Into Toilets, Disrupt Campus Operations

Anti-Israel activists at Columbia University poured cement into toilets across a campus building, prompting condemnation from administrators as law enforcement investigated the costly vandalism. According to a report by HotAir, the vandals targeted restrooms on multiple floors, allegedly causing thousands of dollars in damage to the plumbing. They claimed responsibility on social media, declaring, “We left Hind’s call painted on SIPA, and we cemented the sewage lines … forcing them to shut down business-as-usual.” Columbia administrators swiftly denounced the actions as “unacceptable and abhorrent” and announced that law enforcement was investigating. The Free Beacon reported that the group behind the incident held earlier training on destructive tactics, prompting questions on why Columbia did not act earlier. The individuals responsible for the incident at Columbia appeared to have outlined their objectives on social media, emphasizing their intent to interfere with “business-as-usual,” and encouraging others to follow suit. In an online statement that accompanied video of the vandalism, they wrote, “We are not experts in what it means to take revolutionary action. We are people – just like you – who, today, chose to act. We were afraid … and that is exactly the point.” These posts showcased an apparent sense of urgency and defiance, suggesting the group was prepared to face disciplinary actions, including potential expulsion. Additional details emerged about a series of off-campus training sessions held by the same faction, where attendees reportedly discussed methods for committing property damage. One such strategy specifically described clogging sewage lines with cement — mirroring the vandalism that ultimately unfolded. Investigators are reviewing campus connections related to these trainings and whether deeper planning sessions contributed to the plumbing sabotage. The scope of the gatherings has also come under greater scrutiny. Footage taken during one event showed a speaker asserting, “As long as Israel exists, it’s a genocide against the Palestinian people. Get to know your neighbors … and educate them. … A Zionist-free NYC is the only way that we can ensure that our universities don’t have the power to kick us out and silence us.” In another instance, several individuals recited a poem featuring references from the writings of a Hamas leader. Meanwhile, Columbia officials have confirmed that at least one student was suspended following a prior demonstration. Two more students have reportedly been identified and referred for further disciplinary review. Administrators have also been discussing a potential mask ban to prevent would-be offenders from hiding their identities, as well as the possibility of working more closely with the New York Police Department on campus to help ward off future disturbances.

Texas Christian School Hosts Talks On ‘Gender-Affirming Care’ And ‘Toxic Masculinity’

A private Christian school in Dallas hosted a conference on “belonging and inclusion” that featured talks promoting so-called “gender-affirming care” and deriding “toxic masculinity.” Students at the Parish Episcopal School — a private Christian school that charges nearly $37,000 a year for tuition for high schoolers — were required to attend two talks at the conference, with many of the discussions promoting far-left ideologies. The talk promoting transgender ideology was titled “Defer, Delay, Deny: The State of Gender Affirming Care for Adult Transgender Americans” and was offered by a high school teacher. “Transgender Americans still face many barriers when seeking timely and effective life-saving medication and procedures. Medical professionals can defer treatment. Wait times for surgeries can be delayed years,” the description of the talk reads. “Insurance companies can use deceptive language to deny federal protections.” The description goes on to imply that medical interventions designed to allegedly change one’s sex are analogous to cases in which men or women receive treatments in line with their biological sex, such as when men undergo testosterone therapy. “But transgender Americans are not the people who benefit from gender affirming care. Many cisgender Americans take medication or undergo procedures to affirm their gender identity without the same obstructions,” the description went on to say. “This session investigates this discrepancy for American adults in the 21st century,” it adds. “Come learn about gender affirming care, the barriers transgender patients face, and how advocates are fighting to fix it.” While other talks addressed apolitical topics like alcohol, communication styles, or cell phone usage, another talk at the school denigrated “toxic masculinity” and explored how feminine traits can be used to foster “healthy masculinity.” “This session looks at traditional stereotypes and expectations as well as the broadening of the definition in a move towards “healthy masculinity,’” the description of the talk reads. “Healthy masculinity could be as simple as asking for help but also, a willingness to embrace traditionally feminine qualities (nurturing, compassion, caring) in order to build healthy relationships.” There’s also another talk on “Power, Privilege, and Positionality in Organisation” that uses the framework of “health equity,” a derivative of Critical Race Theory that posits that differences in health outcomes among demographic groups are the result of discrimination and oppression. “This session explores how power and privilege positions individuals and groups for change,” the talk’s description reads. “Participants will be part of two interactive activities including a simulation as we understand how power is created and maintained, and we will use healthcare organisations and health equity as our central constructs.” “We will have a conversation about how we can develop as equity-minded leaders with some strategies and resources to get us started on this journey,” it adds. Parish Episcopal School is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), the largest private school organization in the country. The NAIS has been marred by a series of investigative reports into the organization revealing that it pushed transgender ideology and Critical Race Theory, even consulting a former Black Panther for guidance. Parish Episcopal School specifically has a history of pushing leftwing ideologies, despite its location in deep-red Texas. It rejected law enforcement’s offer to give a presentation to students at the 2023 conference on the risk of fentanyl because “the topic would talk about the open border, and they felt it would be too controversial.” The conference included various controversial topics, however, including refugee resettlement, transgenderism, and toxic masculinity. The school also previously created racially segregated “affinity group” programs for students, asking them to only attend meetings of the group that reflected their racial backgrounds. The Parish Episcopal School did not respond to a request for comment.
