The Boys Aren’t Coming Back After Season 5

News The Boys The Boys Aren’t Coming Back After Season 5 The final season will start filming this year. By Vanessa Armstrong | Published on June 11, 2024 Credit: Jan Thijs/Prime Video Comment 0 Share New Share Credit: Jan Thijs/Prime Video The fourth season of The Boys is set to premiere in two days, but that hasn’t stopped fans and showrunner Eric Kripke from looking to the show’s future. We already knew that Amazon MGM Studios had already greenlit a fifth season. What we didn’t know until today, however, was that those episodes would be the last in the series that has spawned two spinoffs to date (Gen V and Diabolical), with more in the pipeline. Variety reports that Kripke has said that the writers’ room is currently working on season five and the eight episodes will be shot from November 2024 through mid-2025.   The decision to end The Boys after season five, according to Kripke, has been in the works since the beginning of season three. “We announced Season Five and I was hungry to get the word out that it was the final season. And so that’s a chain of executives and PR executives,” Kripke said. “And then we decided since Amazon had already announced Season Five, that it made sense for me to announce the final season.” He added, “I think it puts Season Four in the right context. It’s weird for this show to say, but it’s a slightly more introspective season. We always look at it in the three-act movie way as the end of Act 2 low point before the roller coaster ride of the climax. And I just wanted people to understand where it fit into the larger piece so that they kind of get what this season is supposed to be.” Kripke also said that he hoped that Gen V continued and that other spinoffs were in the works, as the end of The Boys was really about the end of the Butcher-Homelander standoff. Fans can now watch season four with this knowledge in mind when the season premieres on Prime Video on June 13, 2024. Beyond the Headline: May’s Jobs Report Shows Employment Headed in the Wrong Direction

Pay no attention to the shocking truth behind the curtain. Hidden in the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ latest jobs report is an unsettling fact that spoils the administration’s positive spin. The report pleasantly surprised economists by reporting an increase of 272,000 payroll jobs, but the May jobs report contained some troubling information. According to the report, the number of people who are employed fell by 408,000. A single month’s data is not particularly telling, but six months provides a better picture. Over the past six months, payroll jobs increased by a very strong 1.529 million. Yet, total employment—which represents how many people are engaged in work—fell by 783,000. Jobs data comes from a survey of employers who report the total number of positions on their payrolls and employment data comes from a survey of households who report if they are working or not. Payroll jobs and employment data can diverge over time for a number of reasons. For example, an increase in people working multiple jobs will cause payroll jobs to rise but not employment, and a decline in the number of people who work for themselves (as independent contractors, gig workers or freelancers) will cause payroll jobs to decline without any loss in employment. Neither of these factors explains the big divergence over the past six months, however. Another potential explanation could come from high levels of illegal immigration. Jobs held by immigrants—whether here legally or illegally—show up in employers’ payrolls (unless employers are paying them illegally under the table). But it’s not clear whether the household survey captures immigrants who enter the U.S. illegally. At a minimum, immigrants who are in the U.S. illegally are almost certainly underrepresented in the household survey simply because of their more transient and less stable nature. Consequently, it could be that the rise in illegal immigration has boosted payroll jobs even as employment among legal U.S. residents is falling. Since employment and the unemployment rate come from the same household survey, the drop in employment over the past six months contributed to a rise in the unemployment rate, from 3.7% in November to 4.0% in May. But that increase would have been even larger were it not for a 395,000 decline in the labor force as fewer people sought employment. Based on a comparison of employment-to-population ratios, there are 1 million fewer Americans employed today than just six months ago. Compared to four years ago, just prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, there are 2.9 million fewer people working today. If these missing workers were still engaged in productive activity—like pursuing additional education or caring for children—that would not be a problem. But total college enrollment is still down 4% from pre-pandemic levels, and parents are among the few groups of workers whose employment has actually increased. The apparent rise in idle, able-bodied Americans is troubling both for the economy and for individuals. It means less output, lower tax revenues, and higher welfare costs (which then require higher taxes on workers). Meanwhile, idle individuals lose both income and the sense of purpose and shared identity that work provides. That’s why it’s so regrettable that a slew of recent Biden administration policies could exacerbate already weak employment. First, a regulation redefining what it means to be a “joint employer” threatens to upend the successful franchising business model that’s helped hundreds of thousands of ordinary Americans become small business owners. Although a federal district judge vacated (in other words, threw out) that regulation, the administration will likely challenge that decision. Then there’s the administration’s independent contractor regulation that went into effect on March 11 and which greatly limits who can be an independent contractor. With 64 million Americans performing some type of independent work in 2023, that rule could take away income opportunities and entire livelihoods of millions of workers. Economists estimated that a similar restriction on independent contractors in California contributed to a 10.5% decline in self-employment and a 4.4% drop in total employment. Considering that over half of people who perform independent work say they are unable to work for a traditional employer because of their own health or their family caregiving responsibilities, this could especially hurt parents, caregivers, and individuals with disabilities. Although it is too soon to tell the impact of the independent contractor rule, self-employment declined by 1.2%, or 114,000, between March and May.Finally, there’s the administration’s overtime rule that could cause millions of salaried workers to be converted to hourly workers and lose out on workplace flexibility, benefits, and even wages. Instead of trying to micromanage the economy, employers, and workers, policymakers should encourage stronger employment and rising incomes by expanding alternative types of education and by removing government-imposed barriers to work. DC Authorities Shrug as Pro-Hamas Vandals Deface Statues of American Heroes

This weekend, an anti-Israel, pro-Hamas mob held a rally just outside the White House. The protest was about much more than just the Biden administration’s policies. They made a mess of the area, desecrated monuments to heroes of the American Revolution, burned American flags, harassed officers of the law—the very few who even arrived to do anything at all—and despite many wearing face masks, revealed the true face of their movement. I don’t say “pro-Hamas” lightly here. Many were wearing Hamas headbands. Hamas headband, a mask depicting a bloody head of the U.S. President, and the burning of an American flag – all right outside the White House. https://t.co/I80kspEUZq— Bill Melugin (@BillMelugin_) June 8, 2024 I guess they weren’t all explicitly or strictly pro-Hamas. Others also seemed to be fans of Hezbollah, a Lebanon-based radical Islamist terror group. Jihadist mob outside the White House calls on terrorist groups to kill Jews:"Hezbollah, Hezbollah! Kill another Zionist now!" pic.twitter.com/tawRxSixjX— The Post Millennial (@TPostMillennial) June 8, 2024 Most corporate media outlets tried to put the most sanitized lens on their coverage of the event. Be assured if this was a protest for one issue or another favored by the Right, it wouldn’t be treated so gently. Remember, we aren’t allowed to fly traditional “Appeal to Heaven” flags from our country’s founding now because some people at the Jan. 6, 2021, protests had them. Speaking of American history, it’s important to note what specifically was targeted during the protest. It wasn’t just ugly, brutalist federal agency buildings getting splashed with red paint. No, it was works of art, statues that are tributes to great men whose actions in life are the reason we have a free country. One left-wing “historian” laughably wrote on X that the vandals, who defaced a monument to Marquis de Lafayette, were actually “evoking Lafayette’s legacy of revolutionary resistance.” This is complete nonsense. Lafayette was the proudest of Frenchmen, but he so loved and believed in the United States that he insisted on literally being buried in American soil, in “free soil.” Lafayette’s casket was filled with dirt collected at Bunker Hill in Boston. His final resting place is in Picpus Cemetery in Paris, a graveyard reserved for only those who were victims or descendants of victims of the French Reign of Terror. An American flag stands over the grave as it has continuously for over 150 years. What did this weekend’s Washington protest stand for? One of the phrases scribbled on a monument read, “Death to Amerikkka.” Hey @TheArtist_MBS, how come in your report for WaPo, you omitted that the White House monuments vandalism featured symbols of Hamas, called for the death of America and also urged for others to murder law enforcement? Why are you hiding the far-left violent extremism? pic.twitter.com/BqezvfCcBC— Andy Ngô ???? (@MrAndyNgo) June 10, 2024 Comparing the Hamas-supporting, monument-desecrating rabble to Lafayette makes me want to use language that I can’t publish here. And what’s really the worst part of this shameful episode is that nothing was done while federal law was being flagrantly broken. One National Park Service ranger stood “guard” at the feet of one of the vandalized statues. In a video posted by journalist Andy Ngo, you can see and hear the officer being harangued as the protesters pelted him with trash. Some members of the mob were literally defacing the statue as he stood there gently trying to get the crowd to calm down. Outside the White House — A lone U.S. park officer standing next to a monument desecrated by far-left extremists and antifa is assaulted by the violent mob. The extremists gathered for a pro-Hamas protest and have been attacking law enforcement. pic.twitter.com/WPJ7leHHHN— Andy Ngô ???? (@MrAndyNgo) June 8, 2024 Where was the lone ranger’s backup? The Daily Signal asked the National Parks Service about arrests and why security was so thin, but they didn’t respond. My colleagues Tim Kennedy and Christian Lasval have at least part of the answer. The other rangers were busy carrying the symbols of the new regime, “our democracy,” at a Pride parade not far away. So this is where all of his backup was… pic.twitter.com/91ijHJaP9E— Tim Kennedy (@TimKennedyJr1) June 10, 2024 It seems the people in charge had no intention of getting this mess under control. According to the Washington Free Beacon’s Adam Kredo, not a single arrest was made despite the very clear, on camera violations of the law. As many have pointed out on X, three teenagers in the state of Washington are being prosecuted with a felony for making skid marks on a Pride flag painted on a crosswalk.  Yet, damaging statues in the district seems to come with no consequences. District authorities didn’t even bother arresting the vandals before sending them off with a slap on the wrist like they usually do. The reason for this wild disparity in justice is obvious. “We live in a world where left-wing paramilitary groups can just rampage and pillage our major cities with zero legal consequences because they come from communities that vote Democrat,” New York Post journalist Jon Levine wrote on X. “It’s as simple as that.” It really is. The party that wants you to believe that putting a presidential candidate in jail means that “nobody is above the law” will absolutely make sure that their activists, their people, can do as they please no matter the law. When symbols of the old America get violated, they do nothing or even join in on the destruction through more “official” means. And when their new symbols aren’t treated with reverence, they will make you pay dearly. That’s the message they are sending to the American people: Justice isn’t blind, it’s politically correct.  It’s a trend that must be reversed if we, like Lafayette, would like to be buried in free, American soil. BBC Asks Why Israel Didn't Issue Warning Ahead Of Hostage Rescue Mission

BBC anchor Helena Humphrey certainly wasn’t the first journalist to have a strong opinion on military operations during the Israel-Hamas War, despite having no knowledge of such matters, but she may have asked former IDF spokesman Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus the dumbest question on Sunday as she asked him why the Israeli hostage rescue operators did not warn the hostage takers they were coming. Humphrey asked, “It is appearing to be a high civilian death toll. Would there have been a warning to those civilians then to get out on time?”   In one of the most insane interview clips yet (and that’s saying a lot in this war), a BBC reporter asks @jconricus why the IDF didn’t warn Palestinian civilians they were coming to the area for a rescue operations. Reminder: many of the hostages have been held in homes of… pic.twitter.com/qN7fgIfV71 — Adam Milstein (@AdamMilstein) June 9, 2024   Conricus, being more patient with Humphrey than she deserved, replied, “Well, sure, of course, we cannot anticipate Israel to be warning ahead of the raid to extract or to save hostages because then what the terrorists will do is to kill the hostages and that would defeat the purpose so, of course, we cannot expect that.” During the operation, Hamas engaged the IDF in a firefight with gunfire, RPGs, and anti-aircraft missiles. Does the BBC and the rest of the world that claims to be outraged at this really believe Israel is morally, and perhaps legally, obligated to just sit there and take it? Israel did not choose the battlespace. If it had its way, it would fight Hamas out in the open. It would, of course, also have liked for Hamas never to have taken the hostages and murdered its people in the first place. The BBC is hailed by many, especially those on the left, as the epitome of journalistic excellence, but it has had a rough time reporting on the war. It has had to apologize multiple times for an anti-Israel bias that comes dangerously close to anti-Semitic blood libel that predates the war, which is why the BBC is a ripe target for Israeli comedians.

Tucker Carlson Gets Candid on Google Censorship and News Manipulation

Podcast host Tucker Carlson critiqued tech giant Google’s oppressive policies against free speech. In a new interview with The Federalist, Carlson expressed his satisfaction at being set to do a live arena tour in 15 cities, precisely because live events can’t be censored as online shows can. Carlson also slammed Google’s biased information manipulation, Big Tech censorship and the societal risks presented by artificial intelligence (AI) in the interview. The Federalist asked Carlson if the live tour was aimed at circumventing government officials who exert pressure to shut down speech. “Of course! The one thing Google can’t control is a live event,” Carlson responded. The Tucker Carlson Network (TCN) head brought up Google again when speculating on the plausibility of polling data.  “It’s hard to believe [President Joe] Biden is polling over 40 percent given the destruction he’s wrought. I think that’s attributed to the power of Google,” Carlson told The Federalist. “The tech companies are doing everything they can to suppress unauthorized information.”  Multiple MRC Free Speech America studies, including newly released research post-Trump verdict, showed Google’s search engine suppressing and censoring Joe Biden’s presidential race opponents. Carlson further explained to The Federalist that restricted speech could affect the 2024 election.  “I am very concerned that people will not have access to a diversity of information,” he said, before adding, “I think [the ruling class’s] strong preference is just to control people’s minds and to make it impossible for people to have unauthorized thoughts. AI will play a huge role in that, of course.” MRC also caught Google’s AI engaging in election interference last September, censoring Biden’s opponents. In fact, as a recent MRC Free Speech America Special Report shows, Google has interfered in U.S. elections no fewer than 41 times since 2008. Conservatives are under attack. Contact your representatives and demand that Big Tech be held to account to mirror the First Amendment while providing transparency, clarity on so-called “hate speech” and equal footing for conservatives. If you have been censored, contact us using MRC Free Speech America’s contact form, and help us hold Big Tech accountable.

Anthony Cumia: Potential Opie and Anthony reunion?

Anthony Cumia and Gregg “Opie” Hughes ran an American radio show called “Opie and Anthony” for almost a decade. But when Cumia was fired for posting “racially charged and hate-filled remarks” on social media, the two went their separate ways. “Opie” followed Cumia out the door a few years later when he was fired for filming an employee as he defecated. Now, Cumia has finally answered the age-old question: Will he ever reunite with Gregg “Opie” Hughes? “I know after he got fired, you guys did some phone calls and stuff, but it doesn’t seem like there’s any more animosity because I hear Opie talking about you, the only thing he says is, ‘Oh, Anthony’s racist,’ but everyone kind of knows that’s a joke,” Alex Stein tells Cumia. “I want to live in a world where you guys are at least friendly. I just think that the world would be a better place,” he adds. While Stein’s hopeful, Cumia isn’t so much. “I kind of got to the point where I just kind of felt like I didn’t want to be at war with him,” Cumia says, adding, “like a hot war. Then we went through a cold war, and now it’s just kind of, we leave each other alone.” “We’ve gone off in different directions, we have a totally different viewpoint on life,” he continues. “We had so much in common, just how we viewed the world and what not. We are on opposite ends of the spectrum now.” “So, even if we can be civil with each other, I don’t think there’s anything we can find common ground on to even talk about,” he concludes. ANOTHER Disney fail: ‘The Acolyte’ 'Star Wars' series fails miserably after only two episodes

Just a few days ago, “The Acolyte” — a television series that merges the "Star Wars" franchise with murder mystery — dropped on Disney+. When the series was first announced, Lauren Chen, BlazeTV’s cinema pundit, was stoked. “How sick would it be to have an actual 'Star Wars' series that was simultaneously a dark thriller murder mystery?” she asks. “I think that could have been amazing.” But her excitement quickly deflated once she started actually watching the series. “Now that I've actually seen the first two episodes, though, I am quite sure that the people behind the show — Leslye Headland, specifically — doesn't know what a murder mystery is because if she did, I feel like she would never describe this show in such a way,” says Lauren. “As someone who does like murder mysteries, I want darkness, I want intrigue, I want mystery. What I got with ‘The Acolyte’ was not that.” For starters, the murderer isn’t a secret. In fact, the filmmakers reveal this information almost immediately. “If in the opening scene we see exactly who did the killing and how they did it. It's not a murder mystery,” scoffs Lauren. But that’s not the only way “The Acolyte” breaks the murder mystery genre code. “The [plot] twist was revealed like 20 minutes into the first episode,” sighs Lauren, adding that “any intrigue, any tension, or mystery that the show ever manages to build up, it dashes almost immediately.” For example, one of the major conflicts “is solved almost immediately,” leaving audience members yawning. “This is just not how murder mysteries work,” critiques Lauren. To hear the remainder of her analysis (including spoilers!), watch the review below.
