A Minnesota school district is hiring a new assistant superintendent who will be expected to “examine” the presence of “Whiteness.” St. Louis Park Public Schools just outside Minneapolis posted the job description for the position on the district’s job board. The job‚ with a salary between $134‚141 and $201‚212‚ will focus specifically on injecting “anti-racism” into the district’s culture. “[T]he Assistant Superintendent proactively supports the Superintendent to create and communicate anti-racist structures and systems‚ works to interrupt systems of oppression‚ and serves as a role model for culturally relevant pedagogy‚” reads the job description. The posting says the person who fills the role will be “unwaveringly committed to anti-racist actions” and will have a “clear personal commitment to advancing racial equity.” It continues‚ “They prioritize their own racial equity journey and set clear expectations for themselves and others in their pursuit of racial equity goals.” The new assistant superintendent will also “use data to adapt and sustain their efforts towards racial equity.” “They actively listen for both spoken and unspoken racial concerns‚ seek multiple racial perspectives‚ examine the presence and role of ‘Whiteness’ in systems and structures‚ and are open to feedback regarding their own racial blind spots‚” the job posting reads. Meanwhile‚ this person also “[f]osters joy and cultivates a culture of accountability for systemic racial equity transformation.” Just last week‚ the district hired a new superintendent‚ Dr. Carla Hines‚ who appears to be focused on racial equity. “Her educational leadership‚ dedication to student academic success‚ and vision for racial equity transformation is impressive and I’m confident she’ll lead our district with integrity and passion‚ advancing our strategic plan‚” said school board chairman Colin Cox in announcing Hines as superintendent. The St. Louis Park district serves more than 4‚500 students at nine schools. Just over half the students are white‚ while about 20% are black‚ nearly 13% are Hispanic‚ and the rest are mixed race‚ Asian‚ or another minority. About 18% of students are economically disadvantaged‚ and 8% are still learning English. Among middle schoolers‚ 37% are proficient in math‚ and 52% are proficient in reading. In recent years‚ parents in districts across the country have spoken out against critical race theory (CRT) and other race-related curriculum content they find divisive and objectionable for children. In 2022‚ the Florida education board banned public schools from teaching CRT. Some individual districts‚ such as Temecula Valley Unified School District in California‚ have banned elements of CRT.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer says a new “reboot” of the hit “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie is in the works while indicating that he won’t be waiting around for the original film’s big stars to join in. “It’s hard to tell. You don’t know‚ you really don’t know‚” the 80-year-old Hollywood filmmaker told ComicBook.com when asked about the future of the franchise. “You don’t know how they come together. Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday railed against Judge Juan Merchan‚ who is overseeing a New York criminal case against the former president‚ for issuing a gag order.  Under Merchan’s order‚ Trump is restricted from speaking about those testifying against him‚ including former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen and porn star Stormy Daniels‚ who claims she had a sexual encounter with Trump before he was president.  “Judge Juan Merchan‚ who is suffering from an acute case of Trump Derangement Syndrome … has now issued another illegal‚ un-American‚ unConstitutional ‘order‚’ as he continues to try and take away my Rights‚” Trump posted to social media site Truth Social.  The real estate mogul also said that the judge’s daughter “represents Crooked Joe Biden‚ Kamala Harris‚ Adam ‘Shifty’ Schiff‚ and other Radical Liberals” and “posted a picture of me behind bars‚” which Trump said “makes it completely impossible for me to get a fair trial.” As reported by CNBC‚ the judge’s daughter‚ Loren Merchan‚ was or currently is an executive at Authentic Campaigns‚ a progressive political consultant that works for various Democratic clients‚ including President Joe Biden. Notably‚ Judge Merchan donated to Biden’s presidential campaign against Trump in 2020.  Trump continued his post on Tuesday‚ writing‚ “This Judge‚ by issuing a vicious ‘Gag Order‚’ is wrongfully attempting to deprive me of my First Amendment Right to speak out against the Weaponization of Law Enforcement‚ including the fact that Crooked Joe Biden‚ [Attorney General] Merrick Garland‚ and their Hacks and Thugs are tracking and following me all across the Country‚ obsessively trying to persecute me‚ while everyone knows I have done nothing wrong!”  Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg‚ who brought the case against Trump‚ claims the former president falsified business records related to payments he made before the 2016 election from Cohen to Daniels. Trump has pleaded not guilty to the 34 counts brought by Bragg’s office and denied claims that he ever had a relationship with Daniels. The trial is scheduled to begin on April 15‚ despite efforts from Trump’s legal team to delay over a recent document dump. Lawmakers in Maryland are preparing an “emergency bill” to provide income replacement for workers affected by the partial bridge collapse in Baltimore early Tuesday morning. On X‚ Maryland Senate President Bill Ferguson said he is working with state Del. Luke Clippinger‚ a fellow Democrat hailing from Baltimore County‚ and others from the area to draft the legislation. “Over 15‚000 in the Balt region rely on daily operations at Port of Baltimore to put food on the table‚” Ferguson said. “Today‚ with [Clippinger] and colleagues representing Port‚ we are drafting an emergency bill to provide for income replacement for workers impacted by this travesty.” The incident involved a container ship named Dali ramming into the Francis Scott Key Bridge‚ causing the bridge to break apart. Six people‚ identified as construction workers who were filling potholes on the bridge‚ are presumed dead‚ With the bridge in shambles‚ the Port of Baltimore has been closed “until further notice‚” leading experts to tell Business Insider the closure may obstruct $15 million in daily economic activity. “The human cost of lives lost yesterday is overwhelming and tragic. The economic and stability loss to the thousands impacted in the days ahead cannot be understated‚” Ferguson said. “Yesterday I spent hours talking to labor leaders‚ dock workers‚ small business owners‚ and large port industry leaders who all had the exact same message: ‘We must unlock the channel to the Port of Baltimore.’ They’re right. And until we do‚ there is enormous cost to families‚” he added. The National Transportation Safety Board‚ which is tasked with determining the probable causes of transportation accidents and issuing safety recommendations‚ is investigating the collapse. A federal appeals court panel on Tuesday extended a block of a Texas law that would allow state authorities to arrest and deport immigrants suspected of entering the U.S. illegally‚ prompting a stern dissent from the court’s lone dissenter. The 2-1 decision from a panel on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals comes after a month of legal back and forth on the law‚ also known as SB 4. The majority opinion said that Texas would not likely succeed in its argument that the law was constitutional and necessary because the federal government has historically had exclusive control over immigration law.  “For nearly 150 years‚ the Supreme Court has held that the power to control immigration — the entry‚ admission and removal of noncitizens — is exclusively a federal power‚” Judge Priscilla Richman‚ a George W. Bush appointee‚ wrote. “Texas has not shown that it is likely to succeed on the merits …” Judge Irma Ramirez‚ an appointee of President Joe Biden‚ signed onto Richman’s decision‚ while Judge Andrew Oldham‚ an appointee of former President Donald Trump‚ dissented. Oldman said that the majority’s ruling would harm Texas‚ making the state “forever helpless.” “Texas can do nothing because Congress apparently did everything‚ yet federal non-enforcement means Congress’s everything is nothing. And second‚ while the dispute before us is entirely hypothetical‚ the consequences of today’s decision will be very real‚” Oldham said.  The law‚ which was set to take effect on March 5‚ was blocked by a federal judge on February 29. After an appeal by Texas‚ the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals said that the law could take effect while the case made its way through the courts and put a hold on its ruling for seven days to allow time for the Biden administration to take the case to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court extended the hold on SB 4 multiple times before rejecting an emergency appeal from the Biden administration to block the law while it made its way through the lower courts. Just hours after the Supreme Court allowed the law to take effect‚ the Fifth Circuit placed another hold on the law‚ which it extended on Tuesday.  CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP Oldham’s dissent said that the Biden administration had no standing to sue Texas and that it would harm the state’s right to self-government.  “Many people will be understandably frustrated by today’s ruling‚” Oldham wrote. “A high-profile state statute — duly enacted by the people’s representatives to address a problem that Texans personally experience — likely will never go into effect. Why? Because a federal district judge enjoined the law in its entirety before anyone ever used it to do anything. And because today’s majority opinion does not let state officials and state judges attempt to implement the state law passed by the state legislature and signed by the Texas Governor.” Oldham also wrote that the crisis at the southern border was in part due to the Biden administration’s decision to release more than 3 million illegal immigrants into the country. He said that the ruling would result in Texas being unable to deal with the crisis‚ which he attributed‚ in part‚ to the federal government’s actions.
