Former Maryland GOP Gov. Larry Hogan does not plan to challenge incumbent Democratic Gov. Wes Moore this November, he announced on Tuesday. The moderate Republican served two terms as governor, but Maryland law limits governors to two consecutive terms, not a lifetime cap. In 2024, Hogan unsuccessfully ran for the U.S. Senate against now-Sen. Angela Alsobrooks. “I care deeply about the state of Maryland, and I remain concerned about the direction of our nation’s politics, but I have no intention of running for office again,” Hogan wrote in an op-ed for The Baltimore Sun. “It was an honor to serve, but it’s time to look forward, not back. The fight for Maryland and America’s future does not belong to any one person or any one party; it belongs to the people.” Ammar Moussa, Senior Press Secretary and Director of Media Strategy for Moore, posted to X, “Damn I would’ve enjoyed beating him. Again.” The Cook Political Report rates the race as solid Democrat, but there were reports circulating that Hogan could be mulling another campaign. Hogan was a frequent critic of President Donald Trump, though Trump ultimately endorsed him during the 2024 cycle. In a June 2024 interview with Fox News, Trump said he wanted Hogan to win to help Republicans take back the Senate, according to the Associated Press. In August, an Instagram post from Hogan sparked rumors about a potential comeback. The post showed his old campaign RV, joking that it was “slightly used” and suggesting they could “get back out on the road again,” according to Fox 45 Baltimore. Hogan later said in September 2024 that he would not vote for Trump during his comeback bid, POLITICO reported. In September, Moore launched his re-election campaign after winning his 2022 race with nearly 65% of the vote. The Democrat has been widely considered a possible 2028 presidential contender, but he told NBC News’s “Meet the Press” in September that he’s “not running for president.” The Daily Wire reached out to the Moore campaign for comment on Hogan’s decision but did not receive an immediate response.

The FBI doled out federal criminal investigation subpoenas to the offices of Gov. Tim Walz, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, and Attorney General Keith Ellison for allegedly conspiring to interfere with Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s actions in the state. Six offices were subpoenaed in total so far, Fox News’ Bill Melugin reported. Sources also told the outlet that “the FBI served the subpoenas, seeking records and communications.” Frey’s office confirmed to The Daily Wire that they had received the FBI subpoena.  NEW: @realDailyWire can independently confirm that Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey’s office received an FBI subpoena — Cameron Arcand (@cameron_arcand) January 20, 2026 Walz publicly blasted the investigation on Tuesday. “But let me be absolutely clear: The State of Minnesota will not be drawn into political theater. This Justice Department investigation, sparked by calls for accountability in the face of violence, chaos, and the killing of Renee Good, does not seek justice,” Walz said in a statement. “It is a partisan distraction. Minnesotans are more concerned with safety and peace rather than with baseless legal tactics aimed at intimidating public servants standing shoulder to shoulder with their community,” he continued. Earlier on Tuesday, Ellison announced that he would seek a third term in his office, a contrast from Walz’s decision not to seek re-election in light of fraud scandals plaguing the state. “As the federal government targets Minnesota, I’m staying in this race to defend our state as Attorney General,” he posted to X. The Daily Wire reached out to the FBI to confirm. ICE’s Operation Metro Surge has yielded 3,000 arrests in recent weeks, including individuals in the country illegally with criminal convictions. “We have arrested over 10,000 criminal illegal aliens who were killing Americans, hurting children and reigning terror in Minneapolis because Tim Walz and Jacob Frey refuse to protect their own people and instead protect criminals,” DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said in a statement on Tuesday. “In the last 6 weeks, our brave DHS law enforcement have arrested 3,000 criminal illegal aliens including vicious murderers, rapists, child pedophiles, and incredibly dangerous individuals. A huge victory for public safety.” Tensions have run extraordinarily high in the state following the fatal shooting of Renee Good by an ICE officer as she allegedly attempted to hit him with her car, which led to the officer suffering from internal bleeding, according to the Department of Homeland Security. Protests not only raged on in the Minneapolis area for days after the shooting, but hit a tipping point over the weekend when an anti-ICE protest interrupted a church service, accusing one of the pastors of working for ICE.

Fernando Mendoza Puts God and His Faith First Fernando Mendoza isn’t shy about his faith and quite openly shares his devotion to God. “The only reason I’ve gotten to this point is because there’s so many different people helping me in my journey, and [the Saint Paul priests] have been one,” Fernando said per Church Leaders. “They’ve done so much to help me, whether it’s confession or just to be able to talk or just Mass every Sunday. So I really give a lot that I have accomplished this season to the Lord, and we give thanks to God.” Following Indiana’s win against the University of Miami Hurricanes, Fernando kept his faith first. “I want to give all the glory and thanks to God,” he said during a post-game interview. “My offensive lineman blocked perfectly, and we were able to execute the team towards a common goal.” Fans loved seeing Fernando win and proclaiming his faith. “Jesus Christ is in his foundation as a man. Bravo moms and dad . You raised a great young man . We need more like him in our cruel divided country,” a fan wrote on YouTube. “They has really need to be a movie about this team one of the most inspiring things I have ever seen in sports,” another person agreed. This person gave Fernando Mendoza and his family the highest compliment. “A young man we would want our sons to be like and our daughters to marry,” they wrote.
