WASHINGTON—Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard established a special task force in April aimed at restoring transparency and accountability to the Intelligence Community, and fixing the broken system that has allowed weaponization to run rampant throughout the United States government. That task force is named the “Director’s Initiatives Group,” or DIG, and it is tasked with executing President Donald Trump’s intelligence-related executive orders. According to an Office of the Director of National Intelligence official, DIG includes some of the best and brightest minds in the intelligence community. So far, the ODNI official shared, DIG has exposed how the Biden administration weaponized the intelligence community against Americans by releasing formerly classified documents showing how the Biden administration targeted political opponents through its “Domestic Violent Extremism agenda.” DIG also identified and terminated intelligence community employees who were using their roles to push ideology, and revoked the security clearances for the 51 signers of the Hunter Biden “disinformation letter,” as well as former President Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Hillary Clinton, Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, and Jake Sullivan. The task force has also led the intelligence community in locating and de-classifying documents that pertain to the assassinations of John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Gabbard’s team believes the heavy pushback it is receiving is proof positive that they are on the right track to taking on the “rotted intelligence community.” They aren’t done, however. According to an ODNI official, DIG has plans to obtain previous intelligence community assessments of election infrastructure showing the vulnerabilities in the 2022 and 2020 elections. DIG also plans to conduct forensic analyses of past elections to investigate vulnerabilities in the American election infrastructure, the official shared. The task force also plans to interview whistleblowers with firsthand knowledge and evidence of the politicization of intelligence, such as the Russian Collusion hoax and the Hunter Biden laptop scandal. “The task force’s job is to understand how the intelligence community has failed in areas like this, hold accountable those who actively allowed or participated in it, and provide recommendations for oversight that will prevent it from happening again,” the ODNI official said. Another DIG plan: to further declassify examples of the Biden administration’s use of the “domestic terrorist” label to help Americans understand how the previous administration leveraged the security state against political dissidents. DIG also will investigate how free speech has been restricted by looking into organizational and funding links between the intelligence community and the tech sector, the ODNI official shared, and it will also investigate how the intelligence community contributed to United States tax dollars funding gain-of-function research around the world. These are only a few of the items that Gabbard’s task force is focused on, the official shared with The Daily Wire. A number of other sensitive and classified projects are also in the works, and when Gabbard can share more, the official said, she will. The task force includes members of the ODNI, CIA, NSA, FBI, and the Defense Department. All members have Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information clearance, and are required to take polygraphs within 90 days of reporting for duty. The task force is carried out and authorized under 50 USC Sec. 3024, a provision that states a duty to provide national intelligence that is “timely, objective, independent of political considerations…based on all sources available to the IC.” The official shared with The Daily Wire that ODNI is utilizing its oversight authority, which has never been done before. Under Gabbard’s watch, intelligence community officials “should expect that someone will be actively checking their homework, ensuring analytical integrity and unbiased collection, and compliance with constitutional and statutory mandates.”

Camp Mystic, the Christian summer camp for young girls at the center of the catastrophic flooding in Central Texas, said on Monday that the death toll of campers and counselors has risen to 27. The camp posted an update on its website Monday morning, revealing the current death toll and adding, “Our hearts are broken alongside our families that are enduring this unimaginable tragedy. We are praying for them constantly.” “We have been in communication with local and state authorities who are tirelessly deploying extensive resources to search for our missing girls,” Camp Mystic added. “We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support from community, first responders, and officials at every level.” The record-breaking torrent from the Guadalupe River reaped destruction over the July Fourth weekend, with Camp Mystic and the surrounding area of Kerrville facing the brunt of the devastation. People in the camp had little time to flee as the river rose more than 30 feet in an hour in some spots during the middle of the night. Throughout Central Texas, at least 82 people have been killed in the flooding. In Kerr County alone, where the camp is located, 68 people have been confirmed dead, 28 of whom were children. It’s unclear if Camp Mystic’s update adds to the total death toll or if the 27 campers and counselors were already included. It’s also unclear if any campers are still missing. Some of the young girls who were killed in the flooding have been identified, including 8-year-old Renee Smajstrla, 9-year-old Lila Bonner, 8-year-old Eloise Peck, 9-year-old Janie Hunt, and Sarah Marsh, who was about to start third grade. The camp’s director, Richard “Dick” Eastland, died while trying to rescue campers from the floodwaters. “He died doing what he’d done for 50 years—protecting the girls of Camp Mystic,” wrote FOX San Antonio anchor Ryan Wolf. “Richard ‘Dick’ Eastland, beloved camp director and co-owner, was swept away in the Hill Country floods while trying to reach campers in danger. His final act was one of courage, devotion, and love.” Counselor Chloe Childress, who had just graduated from high school, was also identified as a victim who “lost her life upholding this selfless and fierce commitment to others.” “Chloe Childress lived a beautiful life that saturated those around her with contagious joy, unending grace, and abiding faith. Returning as a counselor to the place she loved so dearly, Chloe was looking forward to dedicating her summer days to loving and mentoring young girls at Camp Mystic,” the Childress family said in a statement. “Our family was shocked to hear of the horrific tragic flooding in the hill country, and we were devastated to learn that our precious Chloe was among the victims. While we know that her joy is now eternal and her faith has become sight, our hearts are shattered by this loss and the similar heartbreak of other families like ours.”

There are a lot of great things about Tennessee. The food. The music. The Daily Wire. On July 1, Senate Bill 392 took effect, making it illegal “for a person to harbor or hide, or to assist another in harboring or hiding, within this state an individual who the person knows or should have known has illegally entered or remained in the United States.” Critics say that means landlords won’t be able to rent to illegals, to which we say: uh, great. The Daily Wire has exposed several companies that profit by advertising property or mortgages specifically to illegal immigrants. And, as the shocking saga of Colony Ridge shows, this approach often leads to rampant crime. This is the latest win for Tennessee. Senate Bill 392 took effect alongside 176 other bills, including legislation banning cell phones in classrooms, prohibiting the sale of abortion pills by mail, and guaranteeing more recess for elementary school students. And of course, last month, the Supreme Court upheld the state’s ban on transgender surgeries and treatments for minors — a landmark case that could pave the way for other states to ban these irreversibly harmful “treatments.” Again, you’re welcome, kids. If you’re not currently in the Volunteer State, you may be wishing that you were — or that your state was more like ours. We hope that for you, too. But we can’t make it happen overnight. So, until then, gaze enviously upon our state while wearing an exclusive MAKE AMERICA TENNESSEE hat. A statement that America should follow the lead of the Volunteer State. That America should fight for what it believes in. That America should fight to protect its freedoms and its families. It’s no secret that history’s oldest prejudice is on the rise in the Big Apple. In 2024, the NYPD recorded an antisemitic attack every 25 hours. All in all, there were 345 antisemitic hate crimes, which constituted roughly 54% of all hate crimes reported in the city. When it comes to combating these trends, the city’s Department of Education (DOE) has been missing in action. Parents, teachers, and students have repeatedly complained that the city’s public schools have done very little to address antisemitic incidents on their campuses. Moreover, antisemitic propaganda — including an article from Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan declaring that “Jewish behavior has ill-affected Black people and others” — has dripped into school newsletters, materials, and mass emails at least five times over the past couple of months. However, the DOE won’t sit on the sidelines for much longer. Its latest initiative? A new Jewish addition to the existing Hidden Voices social studies curriculum, which focuses on “centering diverse historical figures left out of typical textbooks.” In this case, that includes profiles of Jewish figures like WNBA player Nancy Lieberman and sex-positive therapist and talk-show host Ruth Westheimer. These profiles are intended to provide role models for Jewish students and introduce others to Jews’ contributions to society. But don’t be fooled. This isn’t a serious attempt to battle antisemitism in New York City. It’s just a shallow gesture that lumps Jews into the very DEI bubble that helped create this problem to begin with. While Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives are often well-intentioned, this won’t protect the city’s Jews, it’ll just paint a bigger target on their backs. Natalia Mehlman Petrzela, the historian behind NYC Public Schools’ “Hidden Voices” social studies curriculum made it clear that her “Jewish American” history segment is an identity-based curriculum — she told Chalkbeat New York that “these materials push educators and students to think about who identity-based curricula are for,” and that she hopes the program “invigorates [students] to commit to a pluralism and universalism that I personally think is the beating heart of a healthy community.” Simply put, Petrzela argues that by lumping Jews — who she calls a “tiny minority” — in with other DEI groups, we can all learn more about each other. Yet Petrzela’s approach ignores DEI’s fatal flaw. Most DEI programs root their philosophy in an oppressor vs oppressed binary, where the oppressed can do no wrong and the oppressors should be treated with contempt. This binary is especially dangerous for Jews because they rose from poverty and persecution around the world to become one of the most successful and enduring subgroups in the United States. Therefore, many DEI advocates, whether they know it or not, relegate Jews into the “oppressor” category. New York City’s schools are no exception — after all, state-level officials are refusing to part with DEI, and the district’s Office of Student Pathways, which infamously sent a newsletter decrying the “genocide” in Gaza back in April, often uses DEI rhetoric. These ideas cannot form the foundation of an effective “anti-antisemitism” plan. Institutions that hate Jews cannot teach people not to hate Jews. The bigger problem? Even if the DEI apparatus were willing to give Jews a fair shake, this approach still wouldn’t be successful. Evidence suggests that DEI training fails to stop bigotry or intolerance. Instead, “when people attempt to suppress unwanted thoughts, these thoughts are likely to subsequently reappear with even greater insistence than if they had never been suppressed.” In other words, if applied here, DEI won’t serve to educate antisemitism away — it could make the problem even worse. Unfortunately, the problem exists regardless of the quality of the educational materials. Research indicates that even when students have access to high-quality educational materials — like first-person accounts of the Holocaust — they don’t always become more tolerant of other people and cultures. In an experiment involving the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Houston, some students left slightly less tolerant than when they came in. If New York City continues on its current path, it may create the very thing it aims to destroy. Fighting antisemitism will require more than teaching children about Jews. It will require a school culture that shows zero tolerance for hatred based on religion, ethnicity, or any other immutable category — that means vigorous policing of social media apps within schools and effective discipline for students who engage in antisemitic activity. What it should not include is DEI.
