Christian Couple Sues Washington State For Allegedly Denying Foster Care License Over Gender Ideology Views

A Christian couple is suing Washington state for allegedly refusing to renew their foster care license over their views on gender ideology. Shane and Jennifer DeGross filed a federal lawsuit last week against state officials who they allege refused to renew their license after nearly a decade as foster parents. “Washington revoked their foster-care license because of their religious beliefs about human sexuality — prioritizing an ideological agenda over children’s best interests by excluding capable parents who can care for children in need‚” reads the lawsuit. “That hurts the many children in foster care‚ discriminates against the DeGrosses‚ and violates the Constitution‚” the suit adds. The State of Washington disqualified Shane and Jennifer DeGross from providing children with a loving home‚ simply because they disagree with the state's view on promoting an extreme gender ideology. Our new case DeGross v. Hunter ⬇️ | @FoxNews pic.twitter.com/AOYiOeGmnh — Alliance Defending Freedom (@ADFLegal) March 28‚ 2024 The couple has served as foster parents to four children. The DeGrosses said they had been working with foster care licensing agency Olive Crest‚ which informed them that Washington’s Department of Children‚ Youth‚ and Families had implemented new guidelines requiring all foster parents to use a child’s new pronouns based on their gender identity. The couple said they told the licensing agency that they would love and support any child placed in their home but could not lie to a child about their identity or encourage a child to reject their sex‚ citing their Christian faith. State officials then denied the couple’s license renewal despite multiple attempts by the licensing agency to appeal the decision‚ according to the lawsuit. CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP The couple is represented by the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF)‚ which filed the lawsuit on their behalf on March 22 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington in Tacoma south of Seattle. “Washington is putting families like the DeGrosses to an impossible choice: speak against your faith and lie or give up the opportunity to care for hurting children. That is illegal and wrong‚” said ADF legal counsel Johannes Widmalm-Delphonse. The attorney cited a 2020 federal case where another Washington couple was initially barred from fostering their one-year-old great granddaughter for the same reason — they opposed gender ideology. The great grandparents in that case sued the Department of Child‚ Youth‚ and Families‚ and eventually‚ a federal judge decided in their favor. A similar case is also playing out in neighboring Oregon. Jessica Bates‚ a mother of five‚ is suing Oregon for denying her application to be a foster parent because of her religious beliefs on gender ideology. Washington state’s foster care system has a shortage of caregivers as of a 2022 report‚ which mentions they are looking specifically for foster parents who are “racially and culturally diverse” and “affirming of LGBTQIA+ youth.”

United Nations-Tied Organization Hiring Coordinator To Facilitate Migrant Flights Into United States

An international organization working in partnership with the United Nations is hiring a “flight management” position to facilitate travel by migrants into the interior of the United States‚ according to a job posting. The International Organization for Migration (IOM)‚ an intergovernmental organization classified as a “related organization” in partnership with the UN‚ is hoping to hire people to function as the “operations focal point” for “flight management” to assist with the flying of foreign nationals throughout the country‚ the job description states. The role appears to be to facilitate the entire process of migrating into the United States. Among the responsibilities associated with the role are to “brief arrivals on procedures‚” “escort them to the immigration area‚” and “assist arrivals through procedures and ensure Customs and Border Protection (CBP) stamps all relevant documents.” Flight management personnel must also “communicate with US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and resolve issues as they arise in coordination with the Senior Operations Assistant” while also ensuring migrants are “escorted to their connecting flights‚ ground transportation or hotel.” IOM is hiring flight management staff in multiple locations‚ including Houston‚ Texas and Atlanta‚ Georgia for year-long terms at $5‚500 per month. The organization calls itself “the leading intergovernmental organization in the field of migration and is committed to the principle that humane and orderly migration benefits migrants and society” before adding that it is “part of the United Nations system‚ as a related organization.” IOM specifically says that part of its mission is to help in “facilitating migration.” IOM receives the bulk of its funding from the U.S. government‚ which gave the organization $942 million in 2022. More recently the State Department granted the organization another $16 million in taxpayer funds. The organization garnered another $241 million from United Nations Organizations. IOM recently requested a whopping $7.9 billion from member states to fund its activities‚ including migrant resettlement across the globe. The IOM did not respond to a request for comment. The Center for Immigration Studies discovered through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit that 320‚000 “inadmissible aliens” flew into the U.S. in 2023‚ taking advantage of U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s One mobile app. While it is unknown where exactly the migrants were sent‚ Bensman’s report found that they arrived at 43 different airports across the United States. Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN) recently proposed an amendment that would prevented federal funds from being used by the Biden administration to fly illegal immigrants into the interior of the United States. The measure was shot down‚ with every single Democrat in the U.S. Senate voting against it. The United States also currently faces an unprecedented immigration crisis on the southern border‚ with officials recording about 9 million nationwide encounters and 1.7 million estimated gotaways since President Joe Biden took office‚ as well as high-profile violent crimes committed by illegal immigrants.

Texas Investigating Boeing Supplier Over DEI Policies Amid Aircraft Safety Concerns

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton opened up an investigation into a Boeing supplier’s DEI policies amid growing concern over the aircraft company’s safety and quality standards.  Paxton announced on Thursday that his office would be investigating Spirit AeroSystems Holdings‚ the company responsible for building much of Boeing’s 737 MAX 9 aircraft. Boeing’s 737 Max has come under intense scrutiny after a door plug on an Alaska Airlines 737 MAX flew off mid-flight in January‚ prompting federal investigations.  “The potential risks associated with certain airplane models are deeply concerning and potentially life-threatening to Texans‚” Paxton said in a statement. “I will hold any company responsible if they fail to maintain the standards required by the law and will do everything in my power to ensure manufacturers take passenger safety seriously.” Paxton’s office said Texas was investigating Spirit because “apparent manufacturing defects have led to numerous concerning or dangerous incidents‚ some of which occurred in-air.”   As part of the investigation‚ Paxton has requested that Spirit turn over documents pertaining to its DEI policies as part of a probe into whether its DEI initiatives are lawful and potentially compromising manufacturing standards.  In a letter to the supplier‚ Paxton asks for copies of the minutes to Spirit’s Global Diversity and Inclusion Council meetings as well as employee demographics prior to the enactment of its DEI policies.  CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP On its website‚ Spirit highlights its commitment to diversity‚ equity‚ and inclusion policies. “Cultivating a culture of diversity‚ equity and inclusion directly aligns with our values and is a key enabler to achieving our overall business strategy to enhance performance‚” Spirit says.  Paxton also asked for records of manufacturing defects in relevant products. All the documents must be produced by April 17.  The investigation comes just days after Boeing announced that top leadership‚ including CEO David Calhoun‚ would be leaving the company. Leadership leaving the company include board chair Larry Kellner resigning from his position in May and Boeing Commercial Airplanes CEO Stan Deal retiring immediately. Boeing Chief Operation Officer Stephanie Pope will take over from Deal‚ while Steve Mollenkopf will become the company’s new board chair.
