iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, and macOS 15.3 beta 3 now available to developers

A bit more than a week after seeding beta 2, Apple is now releasing beta 3 of iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, and macOS 15.3. While this update isn't offering many new Apple Intelligence features, Apple keeps improving its software with these new versions. Here's everything we know about it. So far, the beta of iOS 18.3 only includes a few new features. Here’s what we know: Robot vacuum support: This feature was delayed to 2025. X user Aaron Perris discovered strings in the iOS 18.3 beta code that show Apple wants to offer this feature with this next software update. When it’s available, robot vacuum makers will be able to offer their robot vacuums through Apple’s Home app. Turn off satellite communication: According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, those companies who deploy iPhones through Mobile Device Management will be able to disable satellite communication services. The journalist says this is “designed for defense/space agencies who don’t want employees tapping into it.” Camera Control icons: Apple has updated the Camera Control icons to the new Dark Mode. This change has been spotted by X user Aaron Perris. Calculator bug: iOS 18 removed the ability to repeat math operations. With the latest beta, it’s now available once again. Image source: José Adorno for BGR At the moment, it’s unclear what changes Apple Intelligence might have in iOS 18.3. Given how far behind Apple is when it comes to AI, however, it’s possible that Apple will try to slip some new features and improvements into iOS 18.3, such as: Image Playground upgrade: Apple says that in a future software update, users will be able to create images in Image Playground in a Sketch style, “an academic and highly detailed style that uses a vibrant color palette combined with technical lines to produce realistic drawings.” Improved Siri: While I don’t expect on-screen awareness with iOS 18.3, it’s possible that it might get the first steps to draw on a user’s personal context to deliver intelligence that’s tailored to them, such as finding a podcast someone sent you, or tickets for a concert you recently bought. With macOS Sequoia 15.3, Apple is adding Genmoji support, which was previously unavailable in the past major update. Alongside iOS 18.3 beta 3, Apple also released the third testing versions of iPadOS 18.3, macOS 15.3, watchOS 11.3, visionOS 2.3, and tvOS 18.3. We’ll let you know if we find anything new in these testing versions. Apple seeds visionOS 2.3 beta 3 a few days after third testing versions of watchOS 11.3 and tvOS 18.3

As the testing cycle follows, Apple just released beta 3 of visionOS 2.3, following the release of the third beta of watchOS 11.3 and tvOS 18.3 two days ago. watchOS and tvOS have some possible features in common, such as the upcoming robot vacuum support in the Home app. First expected to arrive later last year, Apple postponed this feature to early 2025. While this function isn't yet available, here's what it will be capable of doing: "The Home app now supports the core functionality of robot vacuum cleaners, such as power control, cleaning mode, vacuum, mop, and charge status. They can also participate in automation and scenes and respond to Siri requests. So you can add them to your cleaning routines — or tell Siri to do some spot cleaning in the living room." watchOS 11.3 beta 3 also improves the Apple Watch's power management and fixes several minor bugs. The previous build of tvOS 18.3, on the other hand, removed references to new screensavers. With tvOS 18.2, MacRumors found references to new screensavers, including "TV and Movies" and "Soundscapes" options, the latter of which was a surprise. Image source: Apple Inc. Unfortunately, it's unclear if Apple is having trouble with these screensavers or if it's saving them for later in the beta testing development. The Snoopy screensaver also took longer to be made available, even though it was released with tvOS 18.2. Lastly, it's unclear what's new with visionOS 2.3, as Apple already delivered all the main features of this operating system update, which was previewed during the WWDC 2024 keynote. Alongside beta 3 of visionOS 2.3, Apple also seeded the third testing versions of iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, macOS 15.3, watchOS 11.3, and tvOS 18.3. As always, BGR will let you know if we find anything new with these latest betas, including possible new Apple Intelligence functions or previously unannounced features. iPhone 17 Air and Galaxy S25 Slim battery life comes into focus in new leak

The iPhone 17 Air is the iPhone 17 series phone I'm dying to get. I don't care about the features I will lose by not going Pro or Pro Max. I'm happy with a regular iPhone with a flagship chip, as long as it has a large screen and a much thinner body. The iPhone 16 Plus almost checked all those boxes, but its footprint was too large for me. I'm ready to compromise even further. I'll deal with a single-camera experience if that's what Apple settles on, and I'll move to eSIM. I'll even consider using a phone with less-than-stellar battery life. After all, how can an ultra-thin iPhone feature battery life as good as the Plus or Pro Max? Galaxy S25 Slim buyers might have similar thoughts about the ultra-thin S25 flavor coming this year, especially concerning battery life. The good news is the battery capacities for the iPhone 17 Air and Galaxy S25 Slim might have leaked. The bad news is that some people might not be comfortable with the figures, especially people on the Android side. But I'm here to tell you not to panic. Despite the smaller battery packs, I expect battery life to be decent on both phones. Continue reading...
