The Washington Post Surrenders — To Reality

Woke leftism is totally on the ropes. The Democrats don’t know what to do about this, but their entire centralizing philosophy is on the ropes. Jeff Bezos is the owner of The Washington Post. When he bought the Post, he said he would not get involved in the editorial side of the newspaper.  Then, the newspaper decided to become the repository of the most radical woke nonsense in all of American media. By doing so, The Washington Post blew out its credibility more than any other major newspaper in the country. It had been the paper of record. It had been the paper of Watergate. It had been the paper that broke an enormous number of serious scandals about the American government. And then it turned into Salon.com. It was Jennifer Rubin whining about how Donald Trump was a mean, bad man. It was Eugene Robinson whining about how America was terrible. It was all the usual suspects saying the most radical, stupid things. The number of Washington Post subscriptions began to seriously dip because they weren’t making any of the same smart business moves The New York Times was making. The New York Times also became a liberal fan paper, but they also decided to diversify into Wordle. That did not happen with The Washington Post, who simply kept doubling down on the anti-Trump radical leftism and the suggestion that boys weren’t just girls, boys had to be girls. This had to be taught to kids — the idea that all politics could be boiled down to racial and sexual identity along with the idea that capitalism was, in and of itself, bad. WATCH: The Ben Shapiro Show But now there is a new middle in America, and the new middle is pro free market. It’s a middle that doesn’t like the leftist idea that the American economy is rigged on behalf of white people, rigged on behalf of men. It’s an American middle that believes in the American dream and thus believes in the idea, generally speaking, of capitalism. It’s also an American middle that, while fairly liberal about what their neighbors do, is not completely liberal about what their neighbors do — meaning if their neighbors decide to open a porn shop next door, the answer is no. If their neighbors decide the local public school is going to be teaching gender-queer, the answer is no. That’s the new middle in America. So, what does that mean? It means there is now a real market possibility of newspapers like The Washington Post reorienting. Bezos is not a traditional Republican. He is not someone who believes in traditional conservative social values. He’s not somebody who, as far as I am aware, is particularly hawkish on foreign policy. But Bezos does exist in the business world and in the world of semi-rationality. So yesterday, Bezos announced he will be reorienting (and remaking) the Post’s editorial board. It is worth sharing his statement in full: I shared this note with the Washington Post team this morning: I’m writing to let you know about a change coming to our opinion pages. We are going to be writing every day in support and defense of two pillars: personal liberties and free markets. We’ll cover other topics too of course, but viewpoints opposing those pillars will be left to be published by others. There was a time when a newspaper, especially one that was a local monopoly, might have seen it as a service to bring to the reader’s doorstep every morning a broad-based opinion section that sought to cover all views. Today, the internet does that job. I am of America and for America, and proud to be so. Our country did not get here by being typical. And a big part of America’s success has been freedom in the economic realm and everywhere else. Freedom is ethical — it minimizes coercion — and practical — it drives creativity, invention, and prosperity. I offered David Shipley, whom I greatly admire, the opportunity to lead this new chapter. I suggested to him that if the answer wasn’t “hell yes,” then it had to be “no.” After careful consideration, David decided to step away. This is a significant shift, it won’t be easy, and it will require 100% commitment —  I respect his decision. We’ll be searching for a new Opinion Editor to own this new direction. I’m confident that free markets and personal liberties are right for America. I also believe these viewpoints are underserved in the current market of ideas and news opinion. I’m excited for us together to fill that void. This is a sea change. It is a true recognition of the fact that The Washington Post never had a broad spectrum of opinion. The tacit recognition in Bezos’ announcement is that there might have been a time when The Washington Post was a sort of platform with a variety of opinions — Charles Krauthammer and George Mitchell used to write for The Washington Post —  but then something changed. Once The Washington Post became the exclusive preserve of the radical Left on matters economic and social, it was no longer a platform. It became, in the most real sense, a publisher of only the content the editorial board wanted to publish. So Bezos is now saying, “Listen, if that’s going to be the way this works, then I want the Post to publish things I want. I spent $100 million on this newspaper. I own this newspaper. I get to decide what’s in this newspaper.” Good for him. I think that we are exiting the era of “objective journalism” and moving toward the realization there is no such thing. The case can be made that there are journalists who do their best to remove their personal bias from situations, but the notion of there being an “objective news media” writ large was a lie and is a lie. There’s a prism of politics through which the news is refracted at every one of these major publications. Everybody knows The Wall Street Journal editorial page tilts to the Right and The New York Times’ editorial page toward the Left. I remember when Twitter (now X) was owned by Jack Dorsey — and when conservatives said that the standards that were being applied were unfair and that the standards Twitter professed to be applying were not actually the standards they were applying — people on the Left said, “Well, then, build your own.” Then, Elon Musk bought it, and now the Left is whining about it. The same is true here. When people complained about the editorial direction of The Washington Post, the Left said, “You don’t own The Washington Post. You don’t like it? Build your own.” All of this is part and parcel of a radical sea change that is happening in American politics. And it is driven by the Democrats, who are totally disconnected from reality.

Pennsylvania PI Claims Would-Be Trump Assassin Wasn’t Working Alone

A private investigator from Pennsylvania is alleging that President Donald Trump’s would-be assassin, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was not acting alone — and that there may be others planning to pick up where he left off. Doug Hagmann told the New York Post that he and six others have been investigating the case since shortly after the shooting at the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13 — and said that after interviewing over 100 people, they were convinced that a “criminal network” had played a role in the attempt. “We don’t think he acted alone. This took a lot of coordination,” Hagmann said. “In my view, Crooks was handled by more than one individual and he was used for this [assassination attempt.] And I wouldn’t preclude the possibility that there were people at the rally itself helping him.” Hagmann also alleged that the FBI might be withholding information about the case, telling the Post that he’d been shown the door several times — by either security personnel or federal agents — as he attempted to carry out his investigation. “One can assist in an operation like this by omission or standing down. There are people still out there involved in this case that need to be brought to justice,” he said. According to Hagmann and his team, location data — from electronic devices that were geolocated with Crooks at multiple points leading up to the shooting — don’t add up. At least one device geolocated with Crooks that day is still pinging at a local high school, Hagmann claimed. Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA), who served on the bipartisan task force investigating the attempted assassination, says he believes Crooks acted alone. He did agree with at least one of Hagmann’s claims, however, saying that the FBI was more of a hindrance than a help to his investigation as well. Higgins’ theory, rather than a conspiracy involving a “criminal network,” is that drugs ultimately played a role in pushing Crooks over the edge. “Something happened to make him go crazy and that’s why I think it might have been pharmaceuticals. He performed an attempted assassination and he was committed all the way through – to death. He was not acting erratic but he was a wild lunatic at the same time, incredibly calculating and incredibly smart,” Higgins told the Post.

Complete List Of Grand Funk Railroad Songs From A to Z

Grand Funk Railroad emerged from Flint, Michigan, in 1969, founded by Mark Farner (vocals, guitar), Don Brewer (drums, vocals), and Mel Schacher (bass). Farner and Brewer had previously played together in Terry Knight and the Pack, while Schacher came from ? and the Mysterians. The band’s name was a playful twist on the Grand Trunk Western Railroad, a line that ran through their hometown. Their debut album, On Time, was released in August 1969 under Capitol Records. Despite initial critical indifference, the album achieved gold certification, propelled by relentless touring and a growing fanbase. Later that year, they released a The post Complete List Of Grand Funk Railroad Songs From A to Z appeared first on ClassicRockHistory.com.

The Unmatched Bigotry of Joy Reid

The Unmatched Bigotry of Joy Reid

MSNBC just canceled “The ReidOut,” the most vicious, nasty, anti-white and pathologically anti-Trump show on air. Host Joy Reid, for five years, unleashed one hateful, often irrational attack after another. It was only after President Donald Trump’s reelection and her ratings plummeting nearly 50% that MSNBC pulled the plug. Here are just some of her greatest hits: “(The courts) are stacked now to essentially suborn our democracy to their very particular version of right-wing evangelical Christ ... That’s no different than Talibanism.” “The goal of the Republican Party today, is it to seize control of every level of government, to lock out voices of color and LGBTQ voices except those who conform to their demand that history and education uplift white Christian dominion ...” “Fascism isn’t a game, y’all. It’s real. And it’s in America, sometimes dressed as a kooky personality cult or carrying a confederate flag ...” “That’s exactly what (Make America Great Again) means when I hear it. It’s George Wallace. (Trump is) just a Republican George Wallace ...” “Donald Trump has two kinds of visions of black people: one, celebrities and sports stars that he wants to be around. And two, every other black person that he thinks is beneath him.” “There’s evidence that Donald Trump has been red-pilled into a far-right movement that is inspired by white dispossession in Africa.” “I think for a lot of conservatives, they believe DEI just means black people getting jobs, and so when they see a black person in any job, they say, ‘Oh, that person’s a DEI hire.’” “Trump was returned to the presidency after staging a coup ...” “What Donald Trump is doing ... it’s kind of David Koresh. It’s kind of Jim Jones. Because those two men started by saying, ‘You need to come to Jesus.’ They started as Christian evangelizers. But eventually, their evangelism said, ‘No, I get to have your wife. ... This is (Charles) Manson stuff.” “... (R)ivers of blood will one day run deep enough ... Because their tolerance for blood and the NRA’s tolerance for slaughter are bottomless ...” “This is the end of democracy in America. This is the beginning of the South Africa strategy. ... It’s Jim Crow America.” “What is going on with Republicans that they seem to be bringing back the lynching vibe?” “There was a time when people had the double hashtags around their names because they were Jewish, and right-wingers were saying ‘get in the oven’ any time you made any benign comment on Twitter. ... Elon Musk ... misses the old South Africa in the ‘80s. He wants that back.” “You can’t even say slavery was bad now in the Republican Party. That’s how far it’s gone.” The real question is why MSNBC hired Reid. In the mid-2000s, she had a blog and wrote anti-gay comments. When she got her MSNBC show, those comments resurfaced. These included, “Most straight people cringe at the sight of two men kissing,” and “The nature of political correctness is that gay people are allowed to say straight sex is gross, but the reverse is considered to be patently homophobic.” She called conservative commentator Ann Coulter “a dude” and wrote “I like my drag queens fierce.” She suggested Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is gay, as well as then-Florida Gov. Charlie Crist. She even speculated that 9/11 was an inside job rather than a terror attack. She denied that she wrote these things and claimed she had been hacked. Her network hired a cybersecurity expert who found no such evidence. Her response? “Here’s what I know. I genuinely do not believe I wrote those hateful things, because they are completely alien to me ...” Apparently, an alien entity entered and temporarily possessed her mind. It happens. She weathered that storm and kept her job. Until a salary cut last year, she reportedly earned $3 million per year. Who knew inventing different ways of calling Trump a fascist could be so lucrative?

Trump admin reveals extent of planned USAID cuts — which will save America a fortune

The U.S. State Department confirmed Wednesday that the Trump administration is eliminating thousands of foreign assistance awards and grants at the U.S. Agency for International Development. Peter Marocco, brought in by Secretary of State Marco Rubio to help run USAID, said in a statement to the federal district court presiding over two consolidated lawsuits brought against the administration by aid organizations that following a review, Secretary of State Marco Rubio decided to cut roughly 92% of the agency's grants, reported NPR. According to a State Department memo reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon, the 92% figure reflects 5,800 grants valued at $54 billion at USAID that Trump administration officials are set to terminate. Auditors scrutinized over 9,100 more grants at the State Department, 4,100 of which — valued at $4.4 billion — are slated for elimination. 'Continuing this program is not in the national interest.' "USAID evaluated 6,200 multi-year awards with $58.2 billion in value remaining," a State Department spokesman said in a statement to Axios. "Nearly 5,800 awards with $54 billion in value remaining were identified for elimination as part of the America First agenda." In terms of awards that survived the cuts, roughly 500 at USAID and 2,700 at the State Department will remain. Contractors learned of the award and grant terminations in a memo from USAID's office of acquisition and assistance. A copy of the memo obtained by NPR stated that Rubio and Marocco "have determined your award is not aligned with Agency priorities and made a determination that continuing this program is not in the national interest." President Donald Trump noted in an aid-freezing executive order on his first day in office that the "foreign aid industry and bureaucracy are not aligned with American interests and in many cases antithetical to American values." He further indicated that it would be the "policy of United States that no further United States foreign assistance shall be disbursed in a manner that is not fully aligned with the foreign policy of the President of the United States." In turn, the State Department ordered a freeze on new funding for virtually all U.S. foreign assistance on Jan. 24. Following a pair of lawsuits by aid organizations, a Biden judge issued a restraining order, requiring that the funding be released. The U.S. Supreme Court temporarily blocked U.S. District Judge Amir H. Ali's restraining order Wednesday evening. In addition to eliminating awards and grants to wasteful programs — for instance, USAID previously blew $45 million on DEI scholarships in Burma, $2 million on sex-change activism in Guatemala, and $20 million for a "Sesame Street" show in Iraq — the Trump administration has placed all personnel at USAID "with the exception of designated personnel responsible for mission-critical functions, core leadership and/or specially designated programs" on administrative leave and is firing 1,600 positions at the agency that are presently occupied. Jake Tapper scorched for book on Biden's health cover-up after repeatedly dismissing decline

CNN anchor Jake Tapper threw himself into the fire on Wednesday when he shared a post on X promoting his new book with national political correspondent Alex Thompson titled "Original Sin: President Biden's Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again."Online commenters were quick to torch Tapper for his flip-flop on former President Joe Biden's rapid health decline. 'They're all sellouts.'Mollie Hemingway, the editor in chief of the Federalist, held nothing back in her response to Tapper's post."The mother bleeping AUDACITY of you to do this after running 24-7 interference on behalf of him and mocking and attacking every single person who noticed Biden's decline. The MOTHER. BUH-LEEP-ING. AUDACITY. Have you no decency? Have you NO shame?" Hemingway wrote.Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) stated, "Huh ... the pot calling the kettle black."Some social media users posted a video of Tapper being pressed by Lara Trump in 2020 on Biden's health. During the exchange, Tapper outright rejected the claims and belittled Trump for even suggesting Biden's cognitive abilities were declining. "I think that you were mocking his stutter," Tapper fired back at Trump in the clip. "I think you have absolutely no standing to diagnose somebody's cognitive decline."Trump responded to Tapper's recent book announcement. She told Fox News, "The audacity, truly, of some of these people. Not the least of which, of course, is Jake Tapper, who first insinuated in that clip ... that I was mocking Joe Biden's stutter.""I expect nothing less from some of these folks in the legacy media because they're all sellouts," she stated.Eric Trump stated that Tapper owes his wife, Lara Trump, “a formal apology.”Many in the comments criticized Tapper for failing to follow through with his journalist duties when the concerns about Biden's health began, only truly pressing the issue after the entire Democratic Party turned its back on the then-president. Tapper promoted his book during a Wednesday segment, calling it a "journalistic project." He claimed that he had been reporting on the former president's declining health for "years" and "literally asked him about it." Tapper was likely referencing a 2022 interview with Biden in which he inquired about how the president balances his age with the demands of the presidency, Fox News Digital reported. In 2023, Tapper presented public polling results indicating that Americans were worried about Biden's "mental sharpness." He also questioned then-press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre about Biden's aging.Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox.
