The upcoming action movie “Deadpool & Wolverine” is off to a promising start after breaking the record for pre-release ticket sales for an R-rated film. “Some 200,000 movie fans have bought their AMC tickets already. This is more Day 1 ticket sales at AMC than for any other R-rated movie ever,” AMC Theatres CEO Adam Aron wrote on X. The online movie ticket site Fandango also reported a huge number of pre-sales, per The Hollywood Reporter. While neither AMC nor Fandango provided hard numbers, the outlet noted that ticket sales so far likely earned the film between $8 and $9 million. These figures set the record for ticket pre-sales for a film that’s rated R and are the best so far for the “Deadpool” franchise. This film represents the third installment in the franchise. THR noted that the original “Deadpool” (2016) brought in $132.4 million during its opening while “Deadpool 2” (2018) earned $125 million. Industry insiders expect the large pre-sale numbers to indicate the new film’s debut will cross the $100 million mark like its predecessors. “Deadpool & Wolverine” stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in the leading roles. Per the IMDb description, “Wolverine is recovering from his injuries when he crosses paths with the loudmouth, Deadpool. They team up to defeat a common enemy.” This will be the first R-rated movie ever released by Marvel and Disney, according to THR. It hits theaters on July 26. Jackman discussed how he decided to commit to the role despite thinking he was “done” playing Wolverine after the character was killed off in “Logan” (2017). “I was on my way, I was just driving, and literally, just like a bolt of lightning, came this knowing deep in my gut that I wanted to do this film with Ryan [Reynolds],” Jackman said, per Variety.  “For Deadpool and Wolverine to come back together. I swear to you, when I said I was done, I really thought I was done. But in the back of my head, ever since I saw ‘Deadpool 1,’ I was like, ‘Those two characters together.’ I knew it, I knew the fans wanted it ever since I put on the claws, people talked about these two. So, that had always been there, but I just knew.” The actor continued, “And I literally couldn’t wait to arrive. Soon as I arrived, I rang Ryan.
