Even a Good Speech Won’t Erase Biden’s Signs of Ill Health

On Wednesday, he’ll deliver a prime time speech at 8 p.m. eastern—significantly, a time more aligned with the time of his disastrous debate performance than his alleged preferred time to function. “From 10am to 4pm, Biden is dependably engaged … outside of that time range or while traveling abroad, Biden is more likely to have verbal miscues and become fatigued,” Axios reported last month, citing unnamed aides. But can Biden still make the case he’s still able to be the president for the remaining six months? Right now, the flood gates seem to be opening, the media and Democrats finally sharing, after a long era of nonsense pretending otherwise, how ill Biden is faring. “It’s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fund-raiser was not the Joe ‘big F-ing deal’ Biden of 2010. … He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate,” wrote actor and major Democrat fundraiser George Clooney in the New York Times earlier this month. The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this week on a 2021 meeting Biden had with House Democrats, urging them to pass an infrastructure package. “In 30 minutes of remarks on Capitol Hill, Biden had spoken disjointedly and failed to make a concrete ask of lawmakers, according to Democrats in the room,” the Journal reported. Rep. Dean Phillips, a Minnesota Democrat who challenged Biden in the Democrat primary, told the Journal, “It was the first time I remember people pretty jarred by what they had seen.” Significantly, Biden never again met with the House Democrat caucus to talk about legislation. It’s not just House Democrats Biden avoided; he hasn’t had a full cabinet meeting since Oct. 2. But don’t think the cabinet meetings demanded mental acuity from Biden before then. “Ahead of closed-door Cabinet meetings that Biden attends, it is customary for Cabinet officials to submit questions and key talking points that they plan to present in front of Biden ahead of time to White House aides,” CNN reported, citing two unnamed sources. Nor was this the only time earlier in his tenure as president that Biden seemed cognitively-challenged. In 2022, Biden asked at a press conference, “Jackie are you here? Where’s Jackie?” Rep. Jackie Walorski, an Indiana Republican, had died in a car accident the prior month. The Washington Post reported that Biden “has displayed signs of accelerated aging in recent months, said numerous aides, foreign officials, members of Congress, donors and others who have interacted with Biden over the last 3½ years, noting that he moves more slowly, speaks more softly and has moments when he loses his train of thought more often than even just a year ago.” Of course, there’s also the assessment made by Special Counsel Robert Hur in a Feb. 5 report, where he described Biden as “as a sympathetic, wellmeaning, elderly man with a poor memory.” That’s not exactly a great description for someone who holds the job as leader of the free world. There’s also of course what we’ve all seen with our own eyes, even aside from Biden’s debate performance.  Earlier this month, Biden called Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky Russian President Vladimir Putin, and that same day, referred to “Vice President Trump” instead of Vice President Kamala Harris. In a July interview with BET, Biden was unable to remember the name of his defense secretary, Lloyd Austin, calling him a “black man.” BIDEN: "Look at the heat I'm getting because I, I named a, uh, the, uh, secretary of defense — the black man" ? pic.twitter.com/PJYzDznpIV— RNC Research (@RNCResearch) July 18, 2024 There’s also questions about why Biden chose to announce his decision to no longer seek reelection via an oddly phrased letter on X. Why was there no photo of him signing the letter, or a video of him speaking about his decision? Why did he delay an address to the nation for several days, instead of following the example of Lyndon B. Johnson Sure, it’s possible that Biden was sulking about being forced out and didn’t want to jump into a suit and tie while battling COVID, even for a brief photo. But it’s also possible his mental fitness was such that even the most skilled communication aides couldn’t get him to look mentally fit long enough for a quick photo or video. Since Biden announced he would no longer seek reelection, a slew of Republican lawmakers have raised questions about his mental fitness to remain president for the duration of his term. These are valid questions. Sure, plenty of people who are mentally fit have occasional gaffes. But there is a clear pattern here—and one that has been in place far longer than Biden’s recent bout of COVID-19. Biden, no doubt, will have had plenty of rest and time to prepare ahead of his Wednesday night address. But even the most eloquent words and forceful, energetic delivery will be hardpressed to erase what America has learned. The presidency is a 24/7 job—and delivering one speech, made at the timing of one’s choice, doesn’t suggest a 24/7 mental fitness. CNN Desperately Tries to Make Kamala Harris Hip to Gen Z, But She Is NOT ‘Brat’

With a greater division in the understandings of each generation, politics has been caught in the very real question of how to appeal to all audiences, how to do this without isolating one, and especially without ostracizing another. This issue was demonstrated perfectly in the Monday afternoon segment of CNN’s The Lead, as host Jake Tapper and his fellow co-hosts attempted to dissect the new Harris rebrand with a Gen Z focus. In another objectively cringe-worthy demonstration, special correspondent Jamie Gangel and the CNN clan attempted to understand and hype up the Harris campaign headquarters’ rebrand, drawing from the hit summer album, “brat” by singer Charli xcx (click expand):  TAPPER: In reference to her album called "Brat." Kamala has branded her Kamala HQ Twitter page with the same aesthetic of the album. That's another Gen Z word, aesthetic. It's even becoming a trend on TikTok. Special Gen Z correspondent, Jamie Gangel, what more can you tell us about it? GANGEL: So, first of all, just from my producer, Elizabeth Stewart, who will spit out her coffee as I say this, I'm supposed to say “that's BRAT.” And for those who don't -- are not in the know, the way I am, that is a cool thing. It has a color. Chartreuse is the color, and Kamala Harris has adopted that for whatever social media page that is. But I brought some notes because I knew you would the wanted definition. Okay, here we go. Charli xcx, who I do know, “Brat. You're just that girl who is a little messy and likes to party. And maybe says some dumb things, sometimes.”     As the ridiculous banter continued, a visibly confused tapper concluded that, “the point is… whether it's her or some very clever people who work for her, going right for them (Gen-Z) in the language of their own, that apparently nobody at this table speaks.”  What Tapper failed to comment on was the fact that Harris was shooting herself in the foot with this rebrand. The failure to understand the mode of sensibility which was “brat” stemmed from two roots. Primarily, and what should be an obvious critique, was that this rebrand was not understood by the majority of Americans. By embracing “brat,” Harris could turn off potential voters with this new understanding of her brand, isolating her campaign to that of the younger generation. Secondly Kamala Harris is simply not “brat.” In writer Susan Sontag’s Notes on “Camp” published in 1964, discussing the twin sensibility to ”brat,” she states that “to talk about ‘Camp' is to betray it.” This rings true for both modes of aestheticism, for just as you cannot hold an idea in your hand, you cannot fully explain these sensibilities. That being said, the confidence and air which is held by those of the “brat” conscience, as stated by Charlie xcx is “messy.” As the album is centered around the clubbing lifestyle, “brat” is less uniform and more waking up after a night out still in your makeup, less about serious nature and more confidently living in the chaos of life, less presidential and more confidently sloppy. Acceptable for most, but not for the leader of our country. If this proclamation of “brat” was being flaunted by the Vice President, the media should be a little more concerned.   The transcript is below, click “expand” to read: CNN The Lead with Jake Tapper 7/23/2024 04:21:28 PM EST (...) JAKE TAPPER: And, Jamie, I also want to talk about this appeal to Gen Z. JAMIE GANGEL: Right, which is a natural question to ask. TAPPER: Natural question for you. (LAUGHTER) (CROSSTALK) GANGEL: I am here today just for this question. KAITLAN COLLINS: Our biggest brat. TAPPER: So, I -- for the record, I was tipped off about this. What I'm about to share with our voters -- our viewers rather by my 16-year-old -- GANGEL: Who truly is an actual member -- TAPPER: Who is an actual member of Gen Z. Kamala Harris appears to be leaning into this. The singer Charli XCX tweeted last night, “Kamala is Brat.” This is in reference to her album called "Brat." Kamala has branded her Kamala HQ Twitter page with the same aesthetic of the album. And maybe says some dumb things, sometimes.” TAPPER: So, it’s the idea that we're all kind of brat and Vice President Harris is brat. I don’t  – (CROSSTALK) COLLINS: I don't if you're a brat. I think you inspire to be brat, Jake. You don't just become brat. TAPPER: Okay. COLLINS: You have to try. GANGEL: You can work at it. TAPPER: I will -- I will aspire to brat. I will aspire. But, I mean, the point is that she is -- whether it's her or some very clever people who work for her, going right for them in the language of their own, that apparently nobody at this table speaks. GANGEL: To quote another generation. [Collins gestures to draw attention to herself] TAPPER: Except for you [gestures to Collins], you still think you’re 23. GANGEL: Maybe this is your generation. She's going to -- COLLINS: I’m the closest. TAPPER: You’re a millennial, take it easy. GANGEL: So, you tell me is this, right, she's going to own it. TAPPER: She's going to own it. GANGEL: Own it. TAPPER: Well, I mean, the truth of the matter is, at 59, she is the youngest candidate in the race and also Donald Trump is now the oldest living presidential nominee ever in the United States. CHALIAN: That is true. We did some of this with her first run, the “K hive,” if you will. Like, she did have a huge social media presence five years ago when she was running unsuccessfully. TAPPER: Yeah, it didn’t do much good, though. CHALIAN: It did not do much good for her electoral outcome, but she did have that kind of entree into this world. And I think it's going to be turbo-charged now for this. TAPPER: All right, thanks, everyone. Stick around, brats.  (...)

Las Vegas authorities were alerted to possible 'medical issue' involving Biden, began closing roads

Members of Joe Biden's security detail and the staff at a nearby hospital were all put on high alert after the president apparently suffered some kind of health scare during a recent visit to Las Vegas.Last Wednesday, Biden's team had to cut his trip to Sin City short after the president began feeling under the weather. Though COVID was the ultimate diagnosis, many in Las Vegas were under the impression that Biden had experienced a much more serious medical condition and began to prepare accordingly.'We did not know the nature of his illness. As a precaution, LVMPD proactively began to shut down roads leading to UMC Hospital.'Citing more than six officers assigned to Biden's security detail that day, Jordan Schachtel of the Dossier reported that dispatchers made a call over the radio requesting a "surge" of assistance because Biden was having what Schachtel called an "unspecified medical emergency." Officers then began closing down roads and securing the area so that Biden could quickly be transported to University Medical Center located on W. Charleston Blvd. just west of the Las Vegas Strip.KSNV-TV likewise reported that UMC hospital "was on standby" on Wednesday "after being alerted about a possible medical issue with President Joe Biden Wednesday afternoon while he was visiting Southern Nevada."A follow-up report from Connor Surmonte of Radar Online included statements from local officials confirming the alerts regarding Biden's health.UMC CEO Mason VanHouweling told Radar Online that his hospital was prepared to provide whatever medical assistance was required. "We were ready and stood ready to be able to address any needs that the president needed," VanHouweling said."We knew we were dealing with more of a medical issue – definitely trauma and any accidents were off the table. We shifted gears to be able to address a medical need here at UMC."Las Vegas Metro Police Department also provided a statement verifying the reports of an "illness" and noting that Biden flew out of town shortly thereafter: The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department was notified that President Joe Biden was sick on July 17th during his visit to Las Vegas. We did not know the nature of his illness. As a precaution, LVMPD proactively began to shut down roads leading to UMC Hospital. The Secret Service then advised LVMPD the President was going directly to Harry Reid International Airport and would be leaving Las Vegas.Officials aboard Air Force One were not playing around. They flew "so fast" to the airport in Dover, Delaware, that day that "the plane shook," according to Daily Mail senior White House correspondent Emily Goodin. Some were quick to slam Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who first mentioned Biden's apparent emergency in Las Vegas in a social media post that quickly went viral on Monday. Newsweek claimed that "rumors" about Biden's "medical emergency" had been "debunked" and suggested that Kirk's post was just another in a long line of "questionable theories" propagated by the "right-wing commentator."However, Newsweek failed to note that Kirk had clearly issued the tweet in hopes of learning more information about the "weird lead" he had received regarding Biden's health. At that point, Kirk had not fully investigated the matter. Moreover, some of the statements Kirk made in the post turned out to be true, including that LVMPD officers had learned of "an emergency situation involving Joe Biden" and that they should "close necessary streets so that POTUS could be transported immediately to University Medical."Schachtel partnered with TPUSA for his report but did not mention working with Kirk specifically.Like Blaze News? Did Kamala LIE to Charlamagne tha God about smoking weed to Snoop Dogg??

Vice President Kamala Harris has championed herself as a woman of the people who used to smoke pot and listen to Tupac and Snoop Dogg. But did she really? In her infamous 2019 interview on “The Breakfast Club,” Charlamagne tha God asked the now vice president if she “smoked.” “I have,” she told him. “And I inhaled,” she adds with her signature cackle. “It was a long time ago.” Then when Harris was asked what she listened to when she was high, it appears that Harris may have flat out lied. “Definitely Snoop, uh, Tupac,” Harris said. Unless Harris was smoking pot and listening to Snoop Dogg while she was a practicing lawyer, Dave Rubin of “The Rubin Report” has the receipts. “Kamala Harris graduated college in 1986. She went to grad school and finished in 1989, and she passed the bar in 1990. In that video that you just heard there, she’s saying that she was smoking pot while listening to Snoop Dog,” Rubin explains. “Unfortunately, Snoop Dogg’s record, his first record, 'Doggy Style,' it’s a classic that was released in 1993. And the first Tupac is 'Tupacalypse,' which was released in 1991,” Rubin continues. “So, that stoned, crazy woman, who always by the way, jailed thousands of people in California for smoking weed while she was admitting that she smokes weed, she also made up that she listened to Snoop Dogg while getting high,” he concludes.
