Cat Mom Shares Maine Coon’s Transformation From Tiny Kitten To “Giant Baby”

Maine coon kittens are like tiny little fluff balls with wicked paws and claws. There are cat lovers who will own nothing but a Maine coon. Others find out that their new kitten is a Maine coon when it fails to stop growing. When Shannan Watkins adopted her little kitten, we aren’t sure if she knew what she was getting. @shannnanwatkins #mainecooncat #catsoftiktok ♬ Originalton – LLKV LLPS LLLL Shannan adopted her cat as a kitty shortly after weaning. The tiny bean was a curious fluff ball, and she named her Amanda. Tiny baby Amanda did cute tiny baby kitten things, like watching the clothes tumbling around in the dryer. Unfortunately, when you feed and water tiny kittens, they tend to grow. Thus, Shannan watched the metamorphosis of tiny little Amanda to GREAT BIG AMANDA. Although the transformation may have seemed like it occurred overnight, it did take some time. Maine coon kittens don’t reach full size until they are between three and five years old. These cats have a reputation for being larger than life (think Garfield-sized). Image from TikTok. Maine coons are one of the larger breeds. Males average 13 to 18 pounds, while females are smaller and range from 9 to 13. Much of the reputation for being feline giants probably stems from their luxurious coats. These gorgeous animals have some of the longest fur in the cat kingdom. Maine coon kittens display other “trademark” characteristics. They have large murder mittens (paws), bushy ears, and tails with tufted fur. They have very expressive eyes with eye colors of green or gold and sometimes blue. You might also see a Maine coon with heterochromia (two different-colored eyes). A Maine coon might have been the model for the Beast’s face in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast! Ancient Babylonian Tablets Foretold Doom Awaiting Kings

In ancient Babylonia, being king was a privileged position, but celestial events like eclipses posed significant threats. Babylonians believed that eclipses signaled divine displeasure and foretold disasters such as rebellion, war, or even the king’s death. If an eclipse predicted the king’s demise, he would temporarily go into hiding, and a substitute, often a prisoner or a simpleton, would be installed in his place. Once the danger passed, the substitute would be executed to appease the gods. The Babylonians, in the second millennium B.C., viewed celestial phenomena as prophetic. Eclipses, in particular, were interpreted as angry messages from the gods. Assyriologist Andrew George, an emeritus professor at the University of London, led a study decoding four cuneiform tablets dating from 1894 B.C. to 1595 B.C., revealing ominous predictions about kings’ deaths and civilization’s downfall. These tablets, from Sippar (modern-day Iraq), contain 61 predictions, including warnings of natural disasters and societal chaos. Babylonians believed that the heavens mirrored earthly events, so a solar or lunar eclipse suggested that a significant figure, like a king, would be “eclipsed.” This belief may have originated from the coincidental timing of an eclipse and a king’s death or developed purely by analogy. Babylonian divination practices included interpreting various omens, such as the behavior of birds or the appearance of animal entrails after sacrifice. These rituals were tools to predict and possibly alter the future, often manipulating the king’s actions and decisions. The substitute-king ritual, associated with the Neo-Assyrian period, may have been performed for figures like Alexander the Great. Despite significant progress in deciphering these ancient texts, many remain untranslated in the British Museum’s collection, awaiting further study. MODERATING? Jake Tapper Lets Cory Booker Use KILL-MAGA Metaphor Without Objection

On Sunday’s State of the Union, Sen. Cory Booker (D-New Jersey) dropped a murderous metaphor for MAGA Republicans, and CNN anchorman Jake Tapper sat there like like it was just a wonderful Democrat speech. Booker said the election can “finally kill that strain of the Republican Party.” It’s been just 44 days since a man almost shot Donald Trump to death, and Jake Tapper let Booker blabber on after the "kill the MAGA strain" line for another 48 seconds without interruption. Does anyone think if a Republican said we need to "kill that strain" of the Democrat Party that backs Hamas, Tapper would sit there like he was deaf? Or "kill that strain" that backed Black Lives Matter riots? It started with a decent question: How is Kamala Harris not the incumbent? Then it devolved. TAPPER: A new chapter? I mean, she's the incumbent vice president. Democrats have controlled the White House for 12 of the last 16 years. How can Democrats talk about a new chapter, turning the page? You guys are the ones writing the book. BOOKER: Well, you know that that's not true, Jake, because you know politics like I do. Right now, we see the MAGA Republicans in Congress killing all kind of pragmatic policies that we need to get done. On the most contentious issue, we had a bipartisan deal argued by -- excuse me -- settled on by Senator Lankford, a right-wing Republican, and Chris Murphy, a blue-state Democrat. And what killed that deal? What killed the pragmatic progress? It wasn't the sensible Republicans, but really people that were kowtowing to Donald Trump. His influence is egregious and incredible, from his appointment of three people to the Supreme Court that are now rolling back the most fundamental of our rights and freedoms, like bodily autonomy and reproductive rights. So, to say that the MAGA Republicans are not still undermining commonsense, pragmatic, sensible politics is just wrong. And what I know this election can do is finally kill that strain of the Republican Party in a way that I think helps the pragmatic Republicans come back. That’s 66 seconds into an uninterrupted answer. Booker was granted almost a two-minute answer, without objection. Tapper didn't even interrupt to say this deflected from his question -- you can't run as the non-incumbent because Team Biden-Harris couldn't get a bill passed over GOP objections.  Tapper could have at least tried to soften the blow – “you don’t mean actually kill anyone” – but no, Booker was on roll. He then let Booker make it more bizarre by saying “I just can’t stand this tribalism, this zero-sum game, us versus them.” You just talked about killing the MAGA “tribe”! In fact, moments later, Tapper interrupted the Senator when he made a reference to himself as a football player, and Tapper wanted to tell the audience: "And for folks at home who didn't understand Senator Booker's football reference, he played for Stanford. Now, he was not a professional football player." Booker said "wow," and laughed, and Tapper said: "I just don't want any of the fact-checkers to come at you. I'm just trying to help you here." Worse yet, Tapper soon went even lighter on Booker, playing a pile of "joy" clips from the convention, and asking, "I'm not accusing the convention of plagiarizing from you, but joy is kind of your thing. It was central to your 2020 presidential campaign. That didn't work with Democratic voters then, at least not enough to make you the nominee. Why do you think it's working now?" Obviously, Booker didn't have the entire "objective" media backing him in a primary, like they're backing Harris now.

I hope Apple builds the AI humanoid robot of my dreams

When I saw the $16,000 Unitree Robotics G1 above, I quickly fantasized about AI humanoid robots of the future. I said I'd love to have such a robot integrated into my smart home to assist me with most of the chores I do routinely around the house. Advancements in AI would let the robot understand voice commands with ease. I'd just speak to it like I talk to people. Advanced algorithms would also allow the robot to interact with other smart devices in the home and with physical objects to perform actual chores. I said at the time that I hoped big tech companies would develop their own AI humanoid robots. I mentioned Apple specifically, as I've long used Apple's entire ecosystem. By the time the company produces a humanoid robot, I'll be well accustomed to Apple Intelligence on the iPhone and other Apple devices. It turns out that Apple is already considering such robots, though it's too early to talk about release plans. Continue reading... Lorne Greene Became Like “Teenage Idols” After One Track Rocketed Him To Musical Stardom

Lorne Greene made a lasting impression with his performances on Bonanza and Battlestar Galactica. The strong and spiritual roles allowed him to build a truly commanding presence as an actor. But Greene was also an accomplished musical artist, and his spoken word track “Ringo” received such fanfare that he found himself feeling like one of the heartthrobs from a boy band. Greene built a career that spanned nearly five decades and saw him become an accomplished radio personality, television actor, and singer. Specifically, he favored spoken word tracks, and he used his success as Bonanza’s Ben Cartwright to develop his music career in earnest. This maneuver was so successful, he found himself living the Elvis Presley experience. Lorne Greene trotted along the road to musical success with the spoken word “Ringo” Lorne Greene became an Elvis Presley of the Western genre thanks to Ringo / Amazon Greene had 14 seasons, filled with 417 episodes, to become the enduring face of Ben Cartwright, leader of the Cartwright quartet in Bonanza. By the time the ‘60s rolled in, Greene was enjoying steady work and equally steady recognizability thanks to this groundbreaking—pun intended—gig. RELATED: 64 Years Ago, ‘Bonanza’ Premiered, Introducing A Whole Different Kind Of Western Seeing the unique opportunity, Greene simultaneously put forth a series of country Western and folk music tracks performed in a mixture of singing and spoken word. Perhaps the most famous of these was “Ringo,” the ballad that was a hybrid of singing and spoken word, which released in 1964 and quickly became the defining hit of the decade. Like a true quality hit of the genre, it told a story effectively, creating the character of Ringo to be a flawed yet real character worthy of the listener’s compassion. The Voice of Doom becomes the voice of country Ben Cartwright / Everett Collection Decades before donning any stirrups for television, Greene used his signature deep voice as a news reader for Canada throughout World War II, earning him the nickname the Voice of Doom. With how effectively “Ringo” cemented his place in music, however, Greene and his voice developed a new reputation. His fame matched that of music stars from other genres of the age, to the point that his fans were totally filling up the seats at venues, all of them screaming as they would listening to Def Leppard or the Stones. As he gained fame from Bonanza, the actor released singing and spoken word Western and folk music songs / Everett Collection If you were to ask Greene why “Ringo” was such a triumph, he would answer, “The timing was correct” and that it told a story from start to finish. “Greek tragedy has been successful all these years because people have dug it,” he added during a 1964 interview for The Morning Union. “This song has Greek tragedy about it: a man saves another man’s life and thereby dooms himself.” But that magic formula still left Greene to deal with unprecedented levels of success and screaming fans. “You see a bunch of kids singing, and the audience screaming, but you can’t imagine what it is really like until it happens to you,” Greene reflected on the experience. “I now know why all those teenage idols use big electronic instruments. It’s the only way to hold back the crowd.” This led him to realize, “How about that? I’m suddenly the Elvis Presley of the Stone Age.” Click for next Article The post Lorne Greene Became Like “Teenage Idols” After One Track Rocketed Him To Musical Stardom appeared first on DoYouRemember? - The Home of Nostalgia.
