Fani Willis Stays on RICO Case If Wade Goes

Fani Willis and Nathan Wade lied under oath but won’t be punished. After making hundreds of thousands of dollars‚ he must leave the case‚ or Fani Willis will have to leave with her team. That is the decision of Judge McAfee in Georgia. What does it take to get a Democrat removed from a case? Christian Group Blocked From Distributing Bibles In Georgia Hospital In Name Of DEI‚ Sources Say

Gideons International‚ the Christian organization known for distributing Bibles to hospitals across the country‚ is being blocked out by a large hospital system in rural Georgia because of new diversity‚ equity‚ and inclusion policies‚ according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.  Gideons‚ which distributes its free Bibles to not only hospitals‚ but also various other locations like hotels‚ and jails‚ is now blocked from servicing the Phoebe Putney Health System‚ which serves hundreds of thousands of people in over 40 Georgia counties and is one of the state’s largest healthcare providers. Gideons hasn’t had its Bibles in the system’s hospitals for months after maintaining a working relationship for several years‚ according to sources who spoke with The Daily Wire. The policy raises questions about why inclusion policies would be used to exclude Christians from sharing Bibles with those who are sick or on their deathbed. It also raises questions how such a policy could be in place in a place referred to by locals as the “belt buckle” of the Bible belt.  Gideons was founded in 1899 and has distributed over 2 billion Bibles in more than 95 languages to 200 countries and territories. It is most well known for placing Bibles in night stands in hotels across America with about a million being distributed every year to hotels and motels. A source familiar with intimate knowledge of the situation said that Gideons was first restricted during the response to the coronavirus pandemic from entering Phoebe. The organization wasn’t let back in after COVID restrictions were relaxed and they attempted to resume their work last year. At the time‚ the Gideons were told their work was “a violation of the DEI policy and they would no longer be allowed” into the Phoebe facilities‚ according to the source. The source said that the policy was “clearly anti-Christian” and that citing DEI to restrict the Gideons made no sense because Christians were being excluded instead of included. Neither Phoebe’s communications team nor its chief DEI officer responded to multiple requests for comments. Scott Steiner‚ the CEO of Phoebe‚ is aware of the exclusion of the Gideons from Phoebe facilities‚ as are several members of the board of the health system‚ according to a source familiar with the situation.  The source said that hospital policies started to take a leftward drift when Phoebe brought on Steiner as CEO back in 2019‚ which is evidenced by the fact that he has pushed DEI principles throughout the health system since taking the helm of Phoebe. Steiner is a member of the Georgia Diversity Council‚ which describes itself as the “premier resource for diversity best practices and leadership development in the state of Georgia.” In previous comments‚ Steiner has said that his staff managers are not diverse enough and that he would take the lead on changing that. “We have an incredibly vibrant and diverse workforce that is representative of the communities we serve‚” he said at the health system’s diversity council’s first meeting in January 2022. “In some areas of our organization — like on our management team — that diversity has been less evident‚ and we are committed to looking at ways to making meaningful change.” He added that looking at the diversity situation at Phoebe “might make me a little uncomfortable‚ but if we’re not dealing with discomfort head-on‚ then we’re not diving in deeply and honestly enough.” According to the Albany Herald‚ pursuing diversity policies was a major focus of Steiner when he took over Phoebe and he appointed Jennifer Williams to be the system’s diversity and inclusion officer. William’s bio says that she is a “bridge-builder and believes in the value of diversity of thought.” Under Williams‚ Phoebe has begun tracking how much money it spends with “diverse” local suppliers‚ tracking improvement on “diversity” each year‚ and conducting focus groups with employees.  “We began with focus groups made up of minority leaders across the health system — distilling their input into key action items‚” Williams said. “Two recommendations were the establishment of a permanent diversity council and systemwide diversity and unconscious bias training. Our senior leaders and health system board quickly adopted those recommendations‚ and we’ve been off and running.” The exclusion of the Gideons at Phoebe Health comes as the medical institutions across the country face criticism for focusing on DEI as opposed to merit and teaching the actual medical field.

Hollywood’s Obsession With Hitmen Movies

Hollywood’s Obsession With Hitmen Movies

Woke bylaws have dramatically changed Hollywood’s product. Raunchy comedies are out‚ with “Ricky Stanicky” being an exception relegated to Amazon Prime. Old-school rom-coms went the way of the fax machine‚ with the mediocre “Anyone But You” over-performing with love-starved patrons. Yet Hollywood’s new moral order has no qualms about making hitmen (and women) the newest trend. Yes‚ many recent films ask us to empathize with stone-cold killers. They murder for a living‚ earn fabulous paychecks‚ and often live to see the end credits roll. And they anchor a shocking number of films. Let’s tally up some recent examples. Brad Pitt in “Bullet Train” (2022) The “John Wick” franchise – plus “The Continental‚” a new Peacock series and the upcoming “Ballerina” spinoff with Ana de Armas. Michael Fassbender in “The Killer” (2023) “The Hitman’s Bodyguard” (2017) and its sequel‚ “Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard” (2021) Mary Elizabeth Winstead in “Kate” (2021) Jessica Chastain in “Ava” (2020) Sasha Luss in “Anna” (2019) Michael Keaton‚ Maggie Q in “The Protégé” (2021) Glen Powell in “Hit Man” (June 2024) Taraji P. Henson in “Proud Mary” (2018) Three “Equalizer” films starring Denzel Washington Some of these films are played for laughs. Pitt’s paid killer brings a comic‚ Zen-like approach to his craft. Most movies make it clear we’re meant to root for the assassins. They’re almost always smart‚ shrewd‚ and good at their work. 87North/Columbia Pictures/Sony. 2022. This month‚ Michael Keaton directs himself in “Knox Goes Away‚” the tale of a veteran hit man forced into retirement by dementia. Keaton’s character‚ John Knox‚ attempts to “cash out” while he can‚ hoping to funnel his money to his estranged family members. It’s Keaton’s second time behind the camera. His directorial debut‚ 2008’s “The Merry Gentleman‚” also found Keaton playing a hit man with a heart of gold. What’s happening? Antiheroes are all the rage in Hollywood. Blame Tony Soprano and Walter White. The deeply flawed figures at the heart of “The Sopranos” and “Breaking Bad‚” respectively‚ taught us to engage with damaged souls. The hitmen genre flows effortlessly from there. ROBYN BECK/AFP via Getty Images It helps that the genre taps into our collective bloodlust. Few films choreograph death and destruction with the majesty of the “John Wick” saga. Every film is a ballet of bloodshed. Other stories guarantee big‚ bold action sequences‚ the kind that play well in international markets. Ka-ching! These films also tap into our hunger for redemption. Yes‚ we enjoy seeing fathers reunite with their children on screen‚ or addicts come clean after years of hard living. What’s more powerful than an assassin realizing his line of work has crushed his soul? Keaton’s character in “Knox Goes Away” knows he’s dying‚ but he’ll use his last days to repair some of the damage done to his son and ex-wife. The screenplay also makes clear that the targets of his handiwork essentially had it coming. No judge. No jury. Just an execution. Brookstreet Pictures. IMDB. 2024. Hollywood also recognizes something about the zeitgeist. American audiences are sick of seeing assailants walk after committing heinous attacks. Soft-on-crime policies permeate big cities‚ and to see deeply flawed people kill said thugs is cathartic. Too many stores now lock up the essentials for fear of even more theft. The fascinating part of this cultural shift circles back to the woke movement. Today’s movies can’t luxuriate in the “male gaze” without triggering cries of “The Patriarchy!” The few R-rated comedies that traffic in “problematic” themes get pummeled by mainstream movie critics. Reviewers pounced on Amy Schumer’s “Snatched” for casting minorities as the villain. Many classic movies couldn’t be made today thanks to the new‚ progressive mindset. Yet woke scolds won’t go near the hit man genre. No outrage. No calls for their cultural banishment. No hashtag campaigns designed to snuff them out. The same isn’t true‚ ironically‚ for vigilante films. When Bruce Willis revived the classic “Death Wish” franchise in 2018‚ critics howled in protest. Even the film’s trailer triggered cries of racism and fascism. How is Paul Kersey’s one-man war on crime different than John Wick slaughtering literally hundreds over the course of that franchise? It isn’t. Actually‚ Wick’s body count is far worse. So is his moral compass. Jennifer Garner fared far better with the similarly themed 2018 film “Peppermint.” Social critics pulled most of their punches‚ probably because the vigilante in question was a woman. Neilson Barnard/Getty Images That reminds us how hypocritical the woke movement remains. Social justice types rage against “ageist” attacks on President Joe Biden but stood down when Will Ferrell flirted with an Alzheimer’s comedy based on President Ronald Reagan. They tried to cancel country singer Morgan Wallen’s career after he uttered the “n-word” in a private conversation caught on tape. Yet they rally behind First Son Hunter Biden‚ a man who repeatedly used the same word in text messages. The woke Left will rage against a comedian for telling the “wrong” joke or a comedy for telling so-called “gay panic” jokes. If the hero snuffs out someone without a trial they look the other way. Heck‚ make the assassin female and they might dub it “empowering.” There’s little chance Hollywood will slow the flow of assassin-themed films. Some still make serious coin‚ and crime remains out of control across the country. It’s not logical‚ but a part of us feels safer with people like John Wick meting out justice. Hollywood’s topsy-turvy moral compass doesn’t seem to mind. * * * Christian Toto is an award-winning journalist‚ movie critic and editor of HollywoodInToto.com. College Forces Student Athletes To Watch Video Saying All White People Are Racist

A college in North Carolina recently required student athletes to watch a video that claimed all white people are racist and that people of color could not be racist. Now‚ Davidson College alumni are calling on the college to change how it discusses topics like racism with students in the future‚ The College Fix reported. Not only were student athletes required to watch the film‚ titled “I’m Not Racist… Am I?” but they were required to do so on a Sunday‚ outside of normal school hours. At one point in the film‚ a clip of which was posted on X by writer Steve McGuire‚ an Asian student suggests that it’s not just white people who are racist against minorities‚ but that minorities can be racist against white people. The facilitator then tells her that such acts are “bigotry‚” not racism. “We would also say that it’s only white people that could be racist‚ that are racist‚ and that people of color cannot be‚” the facilitator goes on to say. The students in the discussion show little reaction‚ and another facilitator jumps in to drive the point home. “Let me tell you what he’s not saying on the second part‚” the second facilitator says. “He’s not saying that people of color can’t be bigots‚ can’t express racial prejudice‚ can’t try to engage in acts of discrimination against white people‚ can’t do real‚ real stupid things filled with hate. We’re saying that collectively‚ blacks‚ Latinos‚ and other groups do not have the power to collectively oppress white people through the use of our systems.” “So‚ are you saying that all white people are racist?” “Yes.” “We would also say that it’s only white people that could be racist‚ that are racist.” You have to watch this clip from a film Davidson College required all its student-athletes to watch. pic.twitter.com/Q0STbgZNCB — Steve McGuire (@sfmcguire79) February 27‚ 2024 The Davidsonians for Freedom of Thought and Discourse (DFTD)‚ a free speech organization run by alumni of the college‚ told the Fix that students they spoke to who saw the film “found it offensive‚ divisive‚ and personally insulting.” The organization made clear that it “does not object to discussions among teammates or anyone on any topic‚ including weaponized definitions of racism‚” but that compelling students “to do so‚ guided only by the extremist views of the film producer‚ is a hazardous way to go about it.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP The organization also asked: “Will those teammates classified as ‘the oppressed’ and ‘the oppressor’ continue to trust and respect each other?” The DFTD also began a petition in February advocating for students’ academic freedom and for the college to stop injecting “controversial ‘anti-oppression’ behaviors” into unrelated courses‚ such as Spanish and biology. “We‚ the undersigned‚ urge Davidson College to adopt a set of policies and guidelines on student rights that comports with the American Association of University Professor’s statement on academic freedom that guards against the ability of faculty to introduce into their teaching controversial matter which has no relation to their subject‚” the organization wrote. “Further‚ we ask that the college adopt policies that limit the ability of staff or departments to compel students to participate in events or engage in activities that are political or ideological in nature and that are not a standard part of training or education.” Davidson College told the Fix that the video merely exposed students to different perspectives and beliefs. “Students encounter many ideas‚ perspectives‚ and beliefs about the world at college‚ and even though a reading or event is assigned‚ that does not mean that anyone at the college expects students to agree with every idea they encounter‚” the college said in a statement. “Learning – and teamwork – is about exploring different ideas‚ countering with better ones‚ and expanding knowledge.”

‘Like Finding Two People In A Bank Vault And Taking One Off To Jail’: Turley Slams Fani Willis Verdict

‘Like Finding Two People In A Bank Vault And Taking One Off To Jail’: Turley Slams Fani Willis Verdict

After Judge Scott McAfee ruled on Friday that either Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis or Special Prosecutor Nathan Wade had to exit the 2020 Georgia election case against former President Donald Trump for the prosecution to continue‚ George Washington University Law Professor Jonathan Turley stated‚ “It’s like finding two people in a bank vault and taking one off to jail.” The decision came after Willis was accused by co-defendant Mike Roman of being romantically involved with Wade at the time she hired him for the Trump case. A witness testified last month that the romantic relationship between Willis and Wade began before the case started‚ while Willis maintains that the relationship didn’t take place until later. Turley started by explaining one reason McAfee might have rendered such a decision: “The reason that’s attractive is that it avoids the cliff problem. If he took Willis off the case‚ he’d have to take the entire office out of the mix. He’d have to reassign this to another set of prosecutors. That would cause considerable delay‚ could also cause the dismissal of the case if those new prosecutors looked at this racketeering theory and said‚ like many of us‚ ‘Wow‚ this doesn’t really hold together very well.’” “So this avoided the cliff but it did not avoid the question that will inevitably come up‚” he continued. “It’s like finding two people in a bank vault and taking one off to jail. The question is the appearance problem‚ that the judge identified with regard to Wade‚ was directly related to his relationship with Willis. They both testified in the same way. They were the two parts of this relationship‚ and yet only one of them was disqualified. And so that’s going to lead to these questions: Why should Willis escape that same penalty? The opinion leaves us feeling like the court went and shot the wounded.” “The problem is the disjointed aspect of the opinion itself‚” Turley stated. “It doesn’t really hold together that well. The big question was: What is the standard? Is it just an appearance or do you have to show an actual conflict? He indicates that he believes it is indeed the appearance standard.” “Well‚ if that’s the case‚ I don’t see how Willis escaped disqualification‚” he asserted. “Many people believed that both of these prosecutors lied on the stand‚ that there were false statements admitted to courts. The key about that is Willis and Wade are prosecuting people in this case for that very conduct. And so it’s hard to see how Willis continuing the case does not undermine it in the eyes of the public and hurts the case overall.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILY WIRE APP Turley noted of Willis‚ “She will stand accused of false statements as she prosecutes others for that type of conduct. And keep in mind that there are state efforts now to fully investigate this including possible bar issues.” Leif Le Mahieu contributed to this article. Suspected Gilgo Beach Serial Killer’s Wife — Who Is Divorcing Him — Now Says Husband ‘Not Capable’ Of Murders

The suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer’s wife now says her husband is “not capable of the crimes he is accused of‚” according to a statement from her attorney. The wife‚ who is not suspected of any crimes and will not be named because The Daily Wire is not naming her husband‚ filed for divorce just days after her husband was arrested for multiple murders committed more than a decade ago. Now‚ however‚ she says she is giving him “the benefit of the doubt‚” ABC News reported. “I will listen to all of the evidence and withhold judgment until the end of trial‚” the wife said in a statement on Wednesday released through her attorney‚ Bob Macedonio. “I have given him the benefit of the doubt‚ as we all deserve.” Macedonio reportedly said the wife visits the suspect weekly. In her statement‚ she also provided “heartfelt sympathies” to the victims and their families. “Nobody deserves to die in that manner‚” she added. The suspect has pleaded not guilty to the murders of Megan Waterman‚ Melissa Barthelemy‚ and Amber Costello‚ who were found on a beach along the south shore of Long Island‚ New York‚ back in 2010. In January‚ the suspect was charged with the murder of a fourth woman‚ Maureen Brainard-Barnes. The suspect was arrested on July 13 for the murder of the three women. Six days after his arrest‚ his wife filed for divorce. She and other family members reportedly will receive $1 million for participating in a documentary series with Peacock. The project will follow the family’s lives as they cope with the upcoming trial and how it has uprooted their lives. CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP Police investigating the Gilgo Beach serial killings are operating on the theory that the suspect committed the murders in his own home‚ a source told CNN. The theory is based on the repeated claim that the suspect’s family was out of town during the murders‚ suggesting he may have lured the victims to his home‚ a source involved in the investigation told the outlet. Authorities are operating under this theory‚ the source said‚ as they continue to search the suspect’s home for trace evidence of the victims. Killing them at his own home would have allowed him to control the environment while having easy access to the materials found along with the victims at Gilgo Beach‚ such as tape and burlap bags. Four bodies were found within days of each other. The body of Barthelemy was found on December 11‚ 2010‚ during a police training exercise with a K9‚ according to a bail application obtained by the Daily Beast. Two days later‚ police searched the area and discovered the three other bodies. If convicted‚ the suspect faces multiple life sentences without the possibility of parole.
