It looks like our neighbors up North are looking for more and more ways to push the idea that life has no value. A national pharmacare program launched in Canada that would use taxpayer money to cover contraceptives to roughly 9 million Canadian women. Bill C-64 will ensure women have access to various forms of contraception as well as “reproductive autonomy‚” Health Canada reported in its official announcement.  “Cost has consistently been identified as the single most important barrier to access to these medications and the cost is unevenly borne by women and gender diverse Canadians. Bill C-64 will ensure that Canadians will have access to a comprehensive suite of contraceptive drugs and devices‚” the announcement read. The effort will supposedly help women have better ability to “plan for the future” and reduce the “risk of unintended pregnancies." The bill also includes diabetes medications. The program‚ launched by the Liberal-NDP (New Democratic Party)‚ was praised by Marci Ien‚ Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Youth of Canada. Liberal Pharmacare will deliver free contraceptives. During Tuesday’s White House press briefing featuring the ever-inept Press Secretary. Karine Jean-Pierre‚ and National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan‚ Fox’s Jacqui Heinrich dropped the jackhammer on President Biden declaring Hungary a dictatorship‚ the Biden border crisis‚ and Biden now touting Hamas-approved statistics on the war in Gaza. Elsewhere‚ Bloomberg and ABC reporters questioned both on the bipartisan bill to force TikTok to divest from its Chinese Communist Party-linked parent company‚ and arguably the most pro-Hamas journalist in the room lashed out at the U.S. for supporting Israel. Heinrich took the Hungary questions to Sullivan: “Is it the position of the United States government that Hungary‚ a NATO ally‚ is a dictatorship?” Sullivan punted to the reelection campaign since the President leveled the charge at a campaign event‚ but conceded “we have made no bones about our deep concerns about Hungary’s assault on democratic institutions‚ including the judiciary‚ Hungary’s corruption‚ and other erosion of democracy in Hungary‚ from the leadership there.” Heinrich tried again‚ arguing “a foreign policy statement of that magnitude would be made with‚ you know‚ some coordination” and not a “footnote”. Sullivan again declined to weigh in‚ even leveling a snarky charge that Hungary’s government “remains a source of grave concern to us and I — I take it from your question‚ it may be of grave concern to you as well.” Surprisingly‚ a Fox reporter was actually defended by The New York Times with their White House correspondent Peter Baker noting Biden’s Hungary line was so significant that “[t]he Foreign Minister of Hungary than summoned the U.S. ambassador to answer for it and says that these were lies and an insults.” As for Heinrich vs. Jean-Pierre‚ the former wondered whether Biden has given up on using executive action to address the border crisis: JACQUI TIME‚ part 2: “The President said yesterday that he was hoping executive action on the border would happen by itself‚ that Congress would legislative it. Before Jean-Pierre moved on‚ Heinrich wondered why Biden is endorsing Gaza death tolls concocted by the Hamas-run Gaza Ministry of Health (click “expand”): HEINRICH: And‚ very quickly‚ on a different subject. Why was the President‚ in that interview‚ using the Gaza Ministry of Health — which is run by Hamas — their numbers on the death toll in Gaza? It — they — there’s a 30‚000 figure that he cited on MSNBC. The last time he decided Hamas numbers‚ officials here dismissed it as a reference to publicly available data‚ but I would assume that the U.S. has its own assessment of what the death was? JEAN-PIERRE: We’ve been very clear here. We — there are public available data that you all have — you also are taking a look at that we are citing as well. That’s what we’re talking about. That’s what the President — HEINRICH: So‚ we should use that number too then? JEAN-PIERRE: — you can use whatever you want. I’m just saying that — HEINRICH: But I’m asking you. JEAN-PIERRE: — we — we have said‚ we’ve been really clear. There are publicly available data that showed sadly‚ how many — how many deaths that we have seen in Gaza‚ and the President has been very clear. There’s too much. It’s tragic. It’s tragic what we’re seeing and the President’s gonna keep — continue to speak to that. At the other end of the spectrum‚ Nadia Bilbassy of Saudi-funded Al-Arabiya asked Sullivan whether the U.S. regrets “bear-hugging Netanyahu and his extremist government‚ including and openly racist member like Ben Gvir” and “supply[ing] them with little weapons that killed 70 percent of women and children” and has “American national security now” at “risk”. Sullivan immediately tore into this tangent‚ noting he didn’t hear a single mention of “Hamas‚ who conducted a grievous attack on October 7”. Bilbassy ghoulishly countered that Hamas and October 7 are unrelated to her question.     Sullivan was finally allowed to continue‚ noting “[a] fundamental part of our policy since October 7 has been to help Israel defend itself against a group that authored the worst massacre of the Jewish people since the Holocaust” with proclamations they want to do it again. He added (click “expand”): And from our perspective‚ Israel had a right and an obligation to take action against Hamas. And Hamas created a set of burdens on Israel’s military operations that are nearly unprecedented by hiding among the civilian population and — ah — that made it more difficult for Israel to conduct its military operations. It did not take away Israel’s responsibility to take every possible step to protect innocent people and far too many innocent people‚ including women and children died and the President spoke to this‚ I thought‚ quite powerfully on Thursday night. And we are very mindful of it. And every one of those deaths as a tragedy. And we have said Israel has to do more when it comes to the protection of civilians‚ and we’ve spoken today at some length about Rafa‚ but I do feel it is important To continue to ensure that this conversation‚ this story is complete‚ that all elements of it Are brought into the picture‚ and not just some‚ and that does mean paying attention to the suffering of innocent people. Not just their vulnerability to the military actions of Israel‚ but also their vulnerability to a lack of food‚ water‚ medicine‚ shelter. And these are things that we work on around the clock. These are things I personally stay awake at night about‚ so I care about this very much‚ but I also care about making sure that our partner and ally Israel is not facing in the future the kind of threat that it faced on October 7 and — and our country and any country in this circumstance would take action against terrorists doing this kind of thing. And the President has said from the beginning of this conflict both — that we need to support Israel in its efforts to go after Hamas and that Israel needs to do so in a way that protects innocent civilians‚ and he has spoken out about his concerns about the protection of innocent civilians — uh — with sincerity and authority and I think you saw that on full display in the State of the Union. As for TikTok‚ Bloomberg’s Justin Sink asked Sullivan about whether the administration has any concerns about the bill and whether it could withstand court challenges‚ which gave the latter the chance to correctly call out those “throwing around the worlds ‘ban TikTok’‚ ‘TikTok ban’ when “the ultimate objective of the bill is about a question of ownership.” ABC’s Selina Wang had two questions of her own in the Jean-Pierre portion‚ including the hypocrisy on the part of Biden since his reelection campaign has a TikTok account when‚ on the government side: ABC’s @SelinaWangTV: “And the President has said that he would sign into law the bill that could have Tiktok banned. If the President is so concerned about the national security risks around TikTok‚ why is he posting on the platform?” KJP: “So I'll say this. When some people appear beyond help because of addiction or other circumstances they can’t control‚ family members have been known to stage an intervention. Congress and President Biden need an intervention as their addiction to spending exceeds anything seen in history. In his State of the Union address last week‚ the president invoked one of his party’s favorite lines about corporations and the rich not paying their “fair share” in taxes. Notice they never say what they consider fair and when Democrats manage to hike the tax rate it’s never enough. The president claimed he has reduced the “deficit” (as opposed to the debt‚ which continues to grow). He takes credit for the reduction in spending following the Covid-19 pandemic‚ but that produced a decrease in the increase of spending‚ not an actual reduction. In the way the government mis-figures things‚ if you spent $500 on a credit card one month and $400 the following month‚ you would have decreased your spending‚ but still added $900 to what you owe. See how this works? The top 1 percent of taxpayers – those who earn$561‚351 or more– paid 42.3 percent of the total tax revenue collected in 2020‚ according to the latest figures from the IRS. In fact‚ the top 1 percent of taxpayers paid more income taxes than the bottom 90 percent combined. And yet the president wants to squeeze more blood from these successful “turnips.” Notice Democrats never suggest cutting a single dollar in spending‚ or eliminating programs that don’t work‚ or have exceeded their “sell-by” date. Instead‚ they demand more from the successful to subsidize and buy votes from people who pay no taxes‚ many of whom receive government checks. Basic economics appears among the casualties of what is not taught in today’s public schools and universities. Let me help the uninformed and misinformed. Too much debt is a dead weight on the economy and on individuals. From America’s beginning‚ there have been warnings of the threat to the nation of large debt. As this is the 100th anniversary of Calvin Coolidge’s presidency‚ let’s begin with a few of his thoughts on debt: “Public debt is a burden on all the people.” Under Coolidge the debt fell. About taxes‚ he said: “ The collection of taxes which are not absolutely required‚ which do not beyond reasonable doubt contribute to public welfare‚ is only a species of legalized larceny. Under this Republic the rewards of industry belong to those who earn them.” What has changed in one century? Again‚ it is the transition from self-reliance to an over reliance on government. George Washington warned the new nation to avoid “the accumulation of debt‚ not only by shunning occasions of expense‚ but by vigorous exertions in time of peace to discharge the debts.” Washington also believed it wrong to place “upon posterity the burden which ourselves ought to bear.” As with many of the other Founders‚ Washington would likely be appalled that moderns are ignoring his sage advice. Why don’t more of us pay attention to the wise words of men like these and to what history teaches about nations that fall too deep into debt? Again‚ the answer is that so many people have been misled to rely on government first and themselves last that they have become addicted to government and the borrowed money that keeps those checks coming. As with other addictions from which the addicted cannot free themselves‚ an intervention is much needed. One can happen in November if enough non-addicts vote for candidates who are committed to putting our financial house back in order. First‚ they have to change their thinking about what was supposed to be a limited government so that “we the people” might be unlimited in our pursuit of happiness.

A Romanian Member of the European Parliament (MEP) warned against the use of artificial intelligence to create social credit scores Tuesday‚ promising that the European Union would ban this dystopian horror.  MEP DragoÈ™ Tudorache discussed upcoming European Union artificial intelligence regulations during a conversation with The Washington Post Live. During the March 12 interview‚ Tudorache told Cat Zakrzewski‚ host and Post national tech policy correspondent‚ that dangerous use of artificial intelligence such as “social scoring‚” “predictive policing‚” and facial recognition would be banned throughout the EU.  China’s social scoring‚ also known as social credit scores‚ is a plan to create public and private systems to surveil people and monitor them for law-breaking‚ spreading disinformation and other unapproved behaviors‚ among other restrictive orders. According to Business Insider‚ a social credit score could be lowered by something as miniscule as “buying too many video games.” Tudorache told Zakrzewski that he would not allow this system in the European Union. “We have a list of prohibitions on the use of AI and some examples are social scoring… like what happens in China‚ which‚ we say‚ is so detrimental to how we understand the role and rights of citizens in a society that we don’t see that use of technology in the [European Union] and other similar applications such as emotional recognition such as predictive policing‚” he said.  Tudorache called these uses of AI “incongruent” with EU values and said that the new regulations would put a “ban on their use on our market.”  The European Union Parliament passed the new regulations on March 13. In a press release summarizing the regulations‚ the European Union announced a prohibition of “social scoring based on social behavior or personal characteristics.” As suggested by Tudorache‚ the press release also mentioned a ban on “emotion recognition” AI in some contexts as well as a number of possible public surveillance uses.  Conservatives are under attack! In the wild‚ bearded dragons get most of the water they need from the plants and insects they eat‚ rather than directly from water sources. Getting them to drink from a water bowl can be difficult because it is so unnatural an activity for them. Getting a beardie to drink water can be a challenge‚ but‚ below‚ we have highlighted six steps you can take to keep your dragon properly hydrated and prevent them from getting illnesses such as constipation. Keep in mind that if your bearded dragon seems to need more water than usual or is becoming dehydrated more often this can be a sign of illness or husbandry problems and you should consult with an exotics veterinarian. Bearded Dragons in the Wild Bearded dragons come from Australia. Specifically‚ they come from deserts and other arid areas where water is very scarce. Most would not have access to bodies of water like lakes and rivers‚ and because it so rarely rains‚ they do not have access to rain as a water supply. As such‚ wild Beardies get the majority of the water they require through their diet‚ from the insects and vegetation they eat. The bowl should be shallow but big enough that the Beardie can climb in and soak if they wish. Over time‚ your Beardie may learn to drink from the bowl‚ but bear in mind that the high humidity in the tank means that the water level will go down naturally over time. Humidity of the enclosure will be affected by the water bowl size and placement; make sure you are monitoring the humidity and make adjustments as needed. Spray Your Beardie Sprinkle water on or mist your beardie’s face. have water on their noses‚ they may try and lick the droplets off‚ giving them much-needed hydration and encouraging drinking. You can try spraying the sides of the enclosure a few times a week too. Again‚ make sure you are not spraying enough to increase the humidity of the enclosure too much. 3. Choose Food with High Water Content As they get water from their food sources in the wild‚ this should be one of the primary sources of hydration for pet bearded dragons‚ too. If your Beardie won’t drink water‚ try swapping out some of their existing food sources for those with higher water content. Spray Their Food Failing that‚ you can spray water on the food you do feed. This can be a good way of increasing water content. Spray the greens you feed‚ and if you do spray insects‚ make sure it doesn’t kill them or inhibit their movement too much. The live food you give needs to move to catch the attention of your beardie so use a mist‚ rather than a direct spray. 5. Bathe Your Beardie It may be an option to bathe your bearded dragon‚ but while some tolerate it and some love it‚ others become quite perturbed at the idea of being bathed. If it stresses your bearded dragon out‚ then this isn’t an option‚ but bathing your Beardie in lukewarm water will naturally introduce them to water and they will likely try drinking at least a little of the water. Some diseases will cause them to lose more water than they can take in. Get your friend examined by a veterinarian for assessment and treatment. How Much Water Does a Beardie Need? Bearded dragons don’t need large volumes of water. They need approximately 20 milliliters per kilogram of body weight‚ each day. And this does include water found in their food. How Can You Tell If a Bearded Dragon Is Dehydrated? Dehydrated bearded dragons will poop less often than normal. Their eyes will appear sunken and their gums can feel dry. Their saliva can look thick or stringy. A skin tent test can also be done which involves gently pinching a small amount of skin and letting go; in well hydrated beardie’s the skin moves back into place whereas if they are dehydrated the skin remains tented. They inhale air and use their inflated lungs as a means of floating on the surface. They then use their muscular legs to propel themselves forward and direct their movement in the water. Do Bearded Dragons Like Baths? It depends on the individual bearded dragon. Some really enjoy being bathed and will willingly hop in the water. For others‚ it can be a highly stressful experience that should be avoided. Conclusion Bearded dragons are fascinating little pets. They are fun to watch‚ tolerate handling‚ and are easier than a lot of other lizard and reptile species to care for. However‚ there are some challenges to owning this type of reptile.
