After Over 40 Years, The Mystery Woman On Duran Duran’s ‘Rio’ Album Cover Is Finally Identified

Duran Duran’s cover art for Rio was a simple but unforgettable one, featuring an illustration of a red-lipped smiling woman. Four decades after the ‘80s jam was released, the foxy lady drawn on the cover has been identified as Marcie Hunt, who was a model back then. In response to the discovery, Marcie Hunt expressed her gratitude on Instagram, adding that she played songs off the album at her wedding. She admitted that Duran Duran was one of her favorite groups and was grateful to have captivated fans and listeners with her seductive and charming smile. Hunting for the mystery woman on Duran Duran’s ‘Rio’ album cover Instagram Discovering Hunt was no easy task as expert Mark Walker invested time, effort, and energy into finding who she was. He purchased many magazines from the ‘80s, hoping to find one that matched the face on the vinyl until he did after seeing a 1981 issue of Vogue Paris. He initially had doubts about her sunglasses and fedora hat but eventually confirmed it to be her. Nagel was focused on making art out of beautiful women including Playboy models between the ‘70s and ‘80s. Sadly, Nagel died from a heart defect in 1984 when he was only 38, however, his works remain respected. Meet Hunt Hunt appeared in many magazines in the ‘80s, which is no surprise due to her captivating beauty. She is now retired and runs a California winery, Dos Lagos Vineyards, with her husband Dinkel while doing art as well. She is grateful for the honor of being celebrated many decades after posing for Rio’s cover and thanks her newly acquired fans for the recognition. Instagram Duran Duran fans took to Instagram in reaction to the band’s post, which detailed how Hunt was found. “Some would say ‘a cherry ice cream smile,’” someone wrote with a heart emoji. “Very cool to finally see this. The ‘Rio’ cover art and her inspiration for it have graced my walls since the release of the album,” another added. The Editors’ Quote of the Day:

“The American people are not naifs who yearn for isolationism, but they are starting to ask some hard questions about the way we have been doing business for 50 years, and it may well be time to grant the French, Canadians, Germans, Turks, South Koreans, and a host of others their wishes for independence from us: polite friendship – but no alliances, no bases, no money, no trade concessions, and no more begging for the privilege of protecting them.” – Victor Davis Hanson The post The Editors’ Quote of the Day: appeared first on SurvivalBlog.com.

June 2024 in Precious Metals, by Everett Millman

Welcome to SurvivalBlog’s Precious Metals Month in Review, where we take a look at “the month that was” in precious metals. Each month, we cover gold’s performance and silver’s performance and examine the factors that affected the metal prices. WHAT DID GOLD AND SILVER DO IN JUNE? The precious metals began the month near the bottom of the price range they have been trading in since late April. The first week of June saw some significant gains, particularly for silver, which surged 4.1% on June 6th to $31.15 per troy ounce. Silver’s 11-year high around $32/oz appeared within reach. Year 3: An Honest Look at the Farm – Part 1, by SaraSue

Just when you think you’ve “arrived”, you realize you’re lost, or something like that.  One step forward, three steps back.  There are other ways that one might want to characterize homesteading.  None of it is easy.  Spring is particularly busy and I always think of selling the farm and “retiring” to a genteel life filled with laying poolside, chatting about absolutely nothing important, drinking mimosas, and dining on food that someone else raised and prepared.  But, I digress… I have written about my experiences in SurvivalBlog in 2022 and in SurvivalBlog in 2023.  Now I write about where the farm … The post Year 3: An Honest Look at the Farm – Part 1, by SaraSue appeared first on SurvivalBlog.com.

This Is What You Forgot to Prep

A lot of preppers are quick to stock up on critical supplies like food rations, water purification, outdoor equipment and personal protection. However, these aren’t the only things you need to prepare to be truly ready to handle a prolonged crisis.
