Speaker Johnson Attains ‘MVP’ Status For Steering ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ To Victory

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) earned widespread praise from GOP and conservative figures for successfully shepherding the “One Big, Beautiful Bill” through the House last week, a legislative victory that bolsters President Donald Trump’s agenda. The bill passed through a 215-214 vote, with just two Republicans breaking ranks and joining Democrats in opposing it. It comes after Johnson secured re-election as House Speaker on the first ballot in January and helped avert a government shutdown in March. Working through a thin majority, Johnson’s ability to largely unify the House GOP has solidified his reputation as an effective leader. “Great job by Speaker Mike Johnson, and the House Leadership, and thank you to every Republican who voted YES on this Historic Bill!” Trump said in a post on social media. “Mike Johnson is emerging at the most successful Republican speaker since Newt Gingrich,” Daily Mail reporter Charlie Spiering wrote on X. “And he’s doing it with an eight vote majority.” National Review’s Rich Lowry, in a column titled “Mike Johnson Prevails Again,” opined that despite being “plucked from obscurity,” Johnson has “proven quite an adept speaker.” Fox News contributor Joe Concha posted on X, “Mike Johnson is the MVP for Trump right now,” while Newsmax’s John Bachman said, “Wow… Mike Johnson does it again. Impressive.” Memorial Day Sale – Get 40% Off New DailyWire+ Annual Memberships Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA) commented, “The DC media loves to underestimate Speaker Johnson. Proven wrong once again.” RedState’s Joe Cunningham observed, “This is the closest the House GOP has come to operating like a unified governing body in years.” GOP strategist Matt Whitlock called the bill’s passage “a huge win for Speaker Johnson and House Republicans.” Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform, stated, “Taxpayers owe [Johnson] and [House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA)] bigly for managing a narrow Republican House Majority that was united and committed to reducing taxes on the American people.” Daily Signal President and Executive Editor Robert Bluey remarked, “An impressive winning streak for [Johnson]. The man knows how to get the job done.” CPAC’s Mercedes Schlapp declared, “Speaker Johnson is one of the most effective House Speakers. An incredible accomplishment to bring together the different factions of the party to pass the One Big Beautiful Bill to support American families and protect our borders.”

Police Body-Cam Footage Shows Chaotic Traffic Stop Become Deadly Shooting: ‘F***ing Taliban’

Police in Fairfax County, Virginia, released body-cam footage on Friday of a police-involved shooting in April that resulted in the death of a 36-year-old man. The Fairfax County Police Department called the shooting an “attempted murder.” Footage showed a traffic stop in Fair Oaks from April 23 that quickly deteriorated into a firefight that involved Virginia resident Jamal Wali and three police officers. The encounter began when a police officer pulled Wali over for speeding and having an expired inspection sticker. After the officer signaled for Wali to pull over, Wali slammed on the brakes. The officer, who was close behind, exclaimed “Jesus Christ!” as he braked to avoid hitting Wali’s car. Wali noted he had a gun before asking why he was pulled over. From there, the situation became chaotic quickly as Wali, who said he worked as an interpreter for the U.S. military in Afghanistan, began to argue over how he has been treated since coming to the United States. Wali refused to give his name and said he had no driver’s licence or vehicle registration. “You f***ing people brought me to this goddamn country, and I’m dying every f***ing single day,” Wali told the officer. At one point, he said he “should have served with f***ing Taliban” while the officer attempted to deescalate the situation. The officer called for backup, noting that Wali was argumentative and appeared to reach for a weapon at several points. Two more officers arrived on the scene within minutes. After the third officer walked up, Wali grabbed his gun and fired at two police officers on the driver’s side of his vehicle, hitting both. A third officer who was on the passenger’s side of Wali’s car fired back at Wali. Two officers were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Police in Fairfax, Va. have released the footage showing an armed Afghan migrant trying to kill police on April 23. There’s no doubt about that.”

TRUMP’s Tax Gambit Turns Democrat Heads

He claims it would help and benefit his constituents, but he opposes the legislation itself? Democratic Rep. Jim Himes acknowledges that the GOP’s proposed SALT cap increase would benefit Connecticut residents, despite opposing the broader legislation that includes it. The SALT increase would benefit households making $500,000 or less per year. Connecticut Democrat Recognizes Benefits of GOP Tax Proposal Representative Jim Himes, a Connecticut Democrat and ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, has publicly acknowledged that Republicans’ proposal to raise the cap on state and local tax (SALT) deductions would benefit his constituents. Despite voting against the broader legislation, Himes recognized the potential advantage for residents in high-tax states like Connecticut. The GOP plan would increase the SALT deduction cap from the current $10,000 to $40,000 for households earning $500,000 or less annually, reversing some restrictions imposed by the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. The SALT deduction allows taxpayers who itemize on their federal returns to deduct certain taxes paid to state and local governments. When Republicans capped this deduction at $10,000 in 2017, it disproportionately affected residents in high-tax states like New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and California—predominantly Democratic-leaning states. The cap has been a point of contention between the parties since its implementation, with Democrats previously attempting unsuccessfully to raise the limit in both 2021 and 2022. The House-passed budget bill's SALT cap increase "is going to be good" for Connecticut, which has one of the highest state and local tax burdens in the U.S., says Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT), but adds, the bill "fails spectacularly" otherwise. "The American people want basically three… pic.twitter.com/XdAjfZ3pXu — Face The Nation (@FaceTheNation) May 25, 2025 The One Big Beautiful Bill Act’s Broader Implications The SALT cap increase is just one component of the Republicans’ comprehensive legislation known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The package includes sweeping tax cuts, enhanced border security measures, defense improvements, energy reforms, and over $1.5 trillion in spending reductions. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) has championed the bill as targeting government waste and inefficiency rather than cutting essential programs. However, critics point to Congressional Budget Office projections indicating the legislation could add approximately $3.1 trillion to the federal deficit over the next decade. Among the more controversial aspects of the bill are proposed work requirements for Medicaid and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients. According to projections, these changes could potentially affect insurance coverage for approximately 7.7 million Americans. While Republican proponents argue these measures promote self-sufficiency and reduce dependency, Democrats have criticized them as harmful to vulnerable populations who rely on these assistance programs. "Top Connecticut Dem Jim Himes admits GOP SALT increase would ‘be good’ for his state" – New York Post #SmartNews https://t.co/IErcdB5men — Mike (@gupdiver) May 26, 2025 Political Implications and Path Forward The acknowledgment by a prominent Democrat that a Republican tax proposal would benefit his constituents highlights the complex regional dynamics at play in federal tax policy. High-tax states, which tend to vote Democratic, stand to gain significantly from the SALT cap increase. This creates an awkward political situation where Democrats like Himes must balance party opposition to the overall Republican agenda with recognition of provisions that would help their voters. For Republicans, the inclusion of SALT relief could be seen as an attempt to appeal to suburban voters in these high-tax regions. Despite passing the Republican-controlled House, the legislation faces significant challenges in the Senate. Many fiscal conservatives have expressed concerns about the potential impact on the federal deficit, while others question whether the economic growth projections are realistic. The Biden administration has already signaled opposition to the bill in its current form. As the debate continues, the SALT deduction cap remains a uniquely bipartisan issue in an otherwise deeply divided Congress, with representatives from high-tax states on both sides of the aisle advocating for relief for their constituents. Docs Reveal Biden Admin. Coverup of COVID Vaccine Dangers as MAHA Report Calls for Safety Tests

In the wake of an explosive Senate investigative report revealing that the Biden administration intentionally hid data from the public showing that the COVID vaccine was associated with serious health risks that resulted in hundreds of deaths, a new report from the Trump administration’s Make America Healthy Again Commission is calling for more robust safety tests to be conducted on vaccines. As reported by The Daily Wire on Wednesday, a report from the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations found that health officials within the Biden administration knew as early as February 2021 — within months of the release of the first COVID vaccine—that the shot was associated with myocarditis and pericarditis (inflammation of the heart) and that almost 1,000 deaths had been reported following vaccination, which were “often cardiovascular” in nature. However, the report noted that instead of informing the public about the deaths and the known health risks associated with the vaccine, U.S. health officials “downplayed the health concern” and intentionally “delayed informing the public about the risk” until June 2021 out of concern that the information would cause “vaccine hesitancy” in the public. The Senate report detailed how the Israeli Ministry of Health discovered the link between the vaccine and myocarditis sooner than U.S. officials because the shot had been rolled out in Israel earlier than in the U.S. Israeli officials notified Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) officials in February of “large reports of myocarditis, particularly in young people, following the administration of the Pfizer vaccine.” The Senate Subcommittee on Investigations was able to obtain 2,400 pages of documents through Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests in order to compile the report. “For a number of months, they were talking about these things. At some point in time, they actually internally said, ‘Is there a signal of myocarditis, a safety signal?’ And the answer was ‘Yes,’” Senator Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), who chairs the committee, told The Daily Wire. “And yet, a couple of days later, they decided not to issue a warning on the Health Alert Network (HAN).” “Rather than provide informed consent, the federal health agencies, the Biden administration, covered it up,” Johnson remarked. “They downplayed the signals. … [T]hey violated the inviolable principle of informed consent.” The documents were obtained through FOIA requests to the Trump administration, with the executive summary of the report noting that the Biden administration stonewalled Johnson’s committee when they requested the documents. Going forward, the Trump administration appears to be seeking far more transparency regarding vaccines than the Biden administration. On Thursday, the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) Commission released a wide-ranging 73-page report on the underlying causes driving “the stark reality of American children’s declining health.” Under a section titled “The Overmedicalization of Our Kids,” the report highlights how, since 1986, “the number of recommended vaccines on the CDC childhood schedule has increased from 3 injections to 29 injections.” As the report goes on to note, this astronomical increase far outpaces the number of vaccines on the schedules of comparably developed European countries such as Denmark, which has about half as many. The MAHA report observes that “as with any medicine, vaccines can have side effects that must be balanced against their benefits.” However, the report continues, “Despite the growth of the childhood vaccine schedule, there has been limited scientific inquiry into the links between vaccines and chronic disease [and] the impacts of vaccine injury…” The report therefore calls for increasing the rigor of safety tests for vaccines, including the use of placebo-controlled trials, a “gold standard” method of safety testing that was not used to test the safety of the COVID vaccines. “Our understanding of vaccine safety and any links to chronic disease would benefit from more rigorous clinical trial designs, including the use of true placebos, larger sample sizes, and longer follow-up periods,” the MAHA Commission wrote. “Many vaccines on the CDC’s childhood schedule involved small participant groups, had no inert placebo-controlled trials, and had limited safety monitoring, some lasting six months or less—raising concerns about the ability to detect rare or long-term adverse effects.” Dr. Robert Malone, a physician and biochemist who conducted groundbreaking research on mRNA and DNA vaccines and became a prominent critic of the safety protocol shortfalls of the COVID vaccine, expressed cautious optimism about the MAHA report. “The report’s emphasis on transparency and prevention aligns with public health goals, but its cautious approach to pesticides and vaccines may reflect political compromises,” he wrote in a post on his Substack page Thursday. “… What happened today is critical. It is essential to Trump’s legacy. This means that MAHA will survive and truly make a difference in American health policy.” Originally published by The Washington Stand.
