Anyone in the market for a tour bus? John Rich is sharing the sad news that he’s decided to part ways with his tour bus. The 2009 Prevost Star Bus is officially on the market, per a recent post from one half of the Big & Rich duo. “I’m selling my tour bus:) It’s served me very well since 2019, but it’s time for her to have a new home, and I hope whoever gets her loves her like I do:)” Captioned a video where he tells viewers a little bit about the bus before cracking the front door to give a tour of his home on the road. “Hey, friends, your buddy John Rich here. It’s kind of a sad day for me because I am selling my tour bus. My black Prevost. I’ve been all over the US in this thing on all the Big & Rich shows and doing the Redneck Riviera business, so I kind of hate to see her go, but it’s time for somebody else to have fun with her for a while.  Look at those chrome flames, I always loved the chrome flames on this black bus. It’s a Prevost, and it’s pre-Obama emissions. Which anyone who knows anything about diesel engines, that’s a big deal.” Inside the bus, Rich shows off the living room, where he shares that he’s spent countless nights talking to folks, warming up for shows, writing songs, and doing meet-and-greets. Moving toward the back of the bus, he shows off the four condo bunks (meaning they are double tall) before showing off the master bedroom that features a slide-out, making the room big enough to do pushups, says Rich. He’s also leaving something for the lucky next owner of his tour bus. “I’m actually going to leave some things on it for you. If you wind up being the new owner, I’m going to give you a John Rich memorabilia package. I’m going to give you stuff to hang in this bus, and the flag stays. The flag stays, that’s part of it. Perhaps he’s moving on to bigger and better things, or he is cutting back on touring and no longer needs to own a personal tour bus. Big & Rich has one date left on the calendar for this year, leading me to believe that they are significantly cutting back on the number of dates they are doing. Either way, one lucky fan or artist is going to be getting a tour bus with a lot of memories and some John Rich memorabilia. On Monday, the Country Music Association announced its picks for the 59th annual CMA Awards. In typical CMA fashion, a lot of the usual names were present, with Morgan Wallen scoring three nominations, including Entertainer of the Year, Chris Stapleton being nominated for Entertainer and Male Vocalist of the Year (shocker) and Lainey Wilson continuing her award show dominance with six nominations, including Entertainer and Female Vocalist of the Year. Undoubtedly, there were two major storylines emerging upon the nominations. Those two, of course, being Wilson, Megan Moroney and Ella Langley leading the way with six nominations each (a stark contrast to female country singers’ dwindling success on country radio these days) and Zach Top’s five nominations. Though the fact that Wilson, Moroney and Langley are leading the way despite country radio’s continued refusal to give women a fair shake compared to their male counterparts deserves its own article entirely, I wanted to focus on Zach Top for a moment. There’s simply no denying that he’s country music’s new “it” artist. Of course, Morgan Wallen and Zach Bryan are still putting up bigger numbers overall, thanks in part to their crossover appeal and the simple fact that they’ve been around longer. With that being said, however, it’s becoming more and more apparent that the “Use Me” singer is becoming the “chosen one” in the genre, both in the public’s eyes and by the industry’s gatekeepers. As previously mentioned, Top was nominated for five separate awards: Male Vocalist of the Year, New Artist of the Year (for the second year in a row), Song of the Year and Single of the Year for “I Never Lie” and Album of the Year for Cold Beer & Country Music.  It’s the Album of the Year nomination that is particularly interesting. With the nod, Top is now one of only 19 artists in the history of the CMA Award to score an AOTY nomination for their debut album, joining the likes of Chris Stapleton’s Traveller, Brooks & Dunn’s Brand New Man, Randy Travis’ Storms of Life and more. With a win this November, Top would accomplish an even more rare feat and become just the fourth artist ever to actually win the award with their debut album, given that only Stapleton (Traveller), The Kentucky Headhunters (Pickin’ On Nashville) and Jack Greene (There Goes My Everything) are the only artists in history to win with their first record at the CMA Awards. Of course, we won’t know Top’s outcome until the show airs on November 19th.
