Biden considers bringing Palestinians to US as 'refugees': Report

The Biden administration is weighing bringing some Palestinians from Gaza to the United States as &;quot;refugees‚&;quot; according to a Tuesday report from CBS News. The media outlet obtained documents that revealed senior officials with several federal agencies are discussing where to &;quot;resettle&;quot; Palestinians looking to flee. Palestine nationals &;quot;with U.S. ties&;quot; who have already left Gaza and relocated to Egypt could be brought to the U.S. under the United States Refugee Admissions Program‚ according to the inter-agency documents obtained by CBS News. Those still in Gaza with family members who are American citizens or permanent residents could also be processed through the program‚ the documents stated. CBS News reported that the floated plan would require coordination with Egypt‚ which has refused to take Palestinians. The program‚ created in 1980‚ has been used to relocate over 400‚000 foreign nationals but has never been used to resettle large numbers of Palestinians.According to the news outlet‚ to qualify for refugee status‚ the individuals would have to pass eligibility‚ medical‚ and security screenings. The program would provide permanent residency‚ housing assistance‚ and a path to citizenship. The &;quot;eligible population is expected to be relatively small‚&;quot; CBS News claimed.A recent Arab World for Research and Development poll found that 75% of Palestinians supported Hamas' October 7 terrorist attack that slaughtered Israeli citizens. Approximately 76% said they had a favorable view of Hamas.&;quot;Respondents were universally negative in assessing the role of the United States of America (USA) and Israel‚&;quot; the poll's results read.A White House spokesperson told the outlet that the Biden administration &;quot;has helped more than 1‚800 American citizens and their families leave Gaza‚ many of whom have come to the United States. At President Biden's direction‚ we have also helped‚ and will continue to help‚ some particularly vulnerable individuals‚ such as children with serious health problems and children who were receiving treatment for cancer‚ get out of harm's way and receive care at nearby hospitals in the region.&;quot; The spokesperson added that the administration &;quot;categorically rejects any actions leading to the forced relocation of Palestinians from Gaza or the West Bank or the redrawing of the borders of Gaza. The best path forward is to achieve a sustainable cease-fire through a hostage deal that will stabilize the situation and pave the way to a two-state solution.&;quot;U.S. Representative Jamaal Bowman (D) from New York said he &;quot;fully support[s]&;quot; the proposed plan.&;quot; We are a land of immigrants and we are a land of asylum-seekers‚&;quot; Bowman stated during a recent interview. &;quot;Anyone escaping persecution and oppression and violence‚ the United States has always been an open home to those people. So whether they're coming from Palestine‚ Honduras‚ Guatemala‚ El Salvador‚ Mexico‚ Haiti‚ they're coming here to contribute to our economy‚ which 99.9% of them are. We've always been a place to open our doors to immigrants coming here‚ so‚ yeah‚ fully support that.&;quot;&;quot; And also fully support amnesty for the migrants who have been here for quite some time‚&;quot; he added.U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R) from South Carolina called the Biden administration's potential plan &;quot;hogwash.&;quot;&;quot;President Biden consistently undermines our national security with reckless decisions like this. We have no clue who is coming into our country‚ whether on our southern border or from war-torn regions run by terrorists‚&;quot; Scott wrote on X.Like Blaze News&;#63; Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. More people should be getting the M2 Mac mini instead of a MacBook

Apple's MacBook lineup is super popular‚ and for good reason. The latest MacBook Air and MacBook Pro laptops have powerful M series chips and killer battery life. I personally have a MacBook Air‚ and I wouldn't trade it for the world. That being said‚ not everyone who actually gets one of Apple's great MacBook laptops actually needs one. If you're looking for a new Mac that you don't actually plan to travel with‚ why spend $1‚000 or more on a MacBook&;#63; Instead‚ you should definitely check out the M2 Mac mini. It packs all the power of a MacBook into a compact little desktop computer. And best of all‚ the M2 Mac mini costs so much less money — especially right now while it's on sale starting at just $499. Apple 2023 Mac Mini Desktop Computer M2 chip with 8‑core CPU and 10‑core GPU‚ 8GB Unified Memor… Price: $499 (reg. $599) You Save: $100.00 (17%) Buy Now Apple 2023 Mac Mini Desktop Computer M2 chip with 8‑core CPU and 10‑core GPU‚ 8GB Unified Memor… Price: $689.99 (reg. $799) You Save: $100.00 (13%) Buy Now Read BGR's Mac mini M2 review‚ and you'll see how truly impressive this new desktop computer is. Apple's M2 chipset marries an 8-core CPU with a 10-core GPU in the Mac mini. That gives you power and performance like you've never seen before in a Mac mini. Apple's compact desktops have always been impressive‚ but the Mac mini M2 really takes things to the next level. In addition to impressive power and performance‚ the newest Mac mini also offers plenty more. You get two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports‚ two USB-A ports‚ an HDMI port‚ and a 3.5mm audio jack. You'll also enjoy Wi-Fi 6E for blazing-fast wireless connectivity‚ as well as Bluetooth 5.3 and gigabit Ethernet. All that starts at just $599‚ which is very impressive. As I noted‚ though‚ the Mac mini M2 with 256GB is on sale at an all-time low price of $499 right now. That's likely the lowest price we'll see all year for this model. What if you want more storage‚ you ask&;#63; The larger-capacity 512GB model is currently on sale with an even bigger discount. You can save $109 and get it for $689.99‚ which is the lowest price I've seen so far this year. As noted in BGR's big guide on the best Apple deals available now‚ the new M3 MacBook Air is on sale right now starting at $989 for the 13-inch model. That's the biggest discount ever for this new model. It's also the all-time low price for this model‚ obviously‚ so you can rest assured that you're scoring a great deal. Or‚ if you want the cheapest Apple laptop deal on a model that's still powerful‚ you can pick up the M2 MacBook Air on sale for just $849 instead of $999. Benchmark tests show that the M2 chip is nearly as powerful as the M3‚ so you're getting a ton of bang for your buck. Apple Watch Ultra 3 will be a boring update‚ top insider suggests

This year‚ we expect a significant design change for the Apple Watch with the Series 10 release. However‚ an Apple Watch Ultra 3 apparently won't be getting the same treatment. While an Apple Watch Ultra update could probably be skipped by Apple in 2024‚ as Ming-Chi Kuo suggested‚ the top insider has now reconsidered his analysis by saying Apple will introduce an Apple Watch Ultra 3 this year. Still‚ it will have &;quot;almost no&;quot; hardware upgrades. This information was relayed by MacRumors. According to the publication‚ the successor of the second-generation Apple Watch Ultra won't have anything major. Interestingly enough‚ we expect several features to arrive with the Apple Watch Series 10. Despite a redesign making it thinner‚ Apple is also considering a new magnet band system. According to Mark Gurman and Drake Bennett‚ Apple has an “enticing road map for 2024‚ including hypertension and sleep apnea detection for the watch.” For sleep apnea detection‚ the watch would use sleep and breathing patterns to estimate whether someone has the condition and then direct users to see a physician. Image source: Jos&;eacute; Adorno for BGR For the blood pressure sensor‚ Apple will do the rollout in phases. In the first iteration‚ it will just tell a user if their blood pressure is trending upward and offer a journal for the user to note what he was doing when hypertension occurred. That said‚ it seems weird that if an Apple Watch Ultra 3 is released‚ it won't feature some of the major features expected for the Apple Watch Series 10. Also‚ if rumors about a new magnet band system for the Apple Watch Series 10 are true‚ Apple will maintain a confusing lineup of two different band systems despite the several options available for each watch. Previously‚ the Apple Watch Ultra was expected to feature a microLED display eventually. However‚ reports have confirmed that Apple has abandoned its in-house microLED production and might continue focusing on OLED. In addition‚ BGR has recently interviewed an expert about why Apple is choosing OLED over other display technologies for the iPad‚ which gives us an interesting outlook on this panel for future products. Don't Miss: 6 ways Apple’s OLED on the new iPad Pro will be a game-changer‚ according to an expert The post Apple Watch Ultra 3 will be a boring update‚ top insider suggests appeared first on BGR. Apple’s new iOS 18 Web Eraser might let you pick which parts of a website to block

The main attraction of WWDC 2024 will be iOS 18‚ and all the AI features that Apple is building into the iPhone's operating system. The Safari browser will certainly be part of that upgrade. We've already seen some leaks indicating that new AI features are coming to Apple's browser. But Apple might be working on other improvements for Safari 18. The new features should be available across Apple's line of products‚ not just the iPhone. Among them‚ a new Web Eraser tool will seemingly let users select what parts of a website to block. It'll essentially be a native ad blocker for Safari. Continue reading... The post Apple’s new iOS 18 Web Eraser might let you pick which parts of a website to block appeared first on BGR.
