Don't worry‚ Wendy's isn't raising prices during the busiest times. But changes are coming.

Don't worry‚ Wendy's isn't raising prices during the busiest times. But changes are coming.

In a world where prices are continuously increasing‚ prominent companies are turning to surge pricing to raise prices even further during peak demand times. Uber charges people more for a ride when demand is high. Hotels have been changing prices based on demand for years and Amazon uses AI to keep prices constantly in flux.Recently‚ Ticketmaster‚ known for charging high fees‚ has been charging customers even more for tickets as demand rises. On Monday‚ February 26‚ news reports began circulating that Wendy’s‚ America's 5th most popular fast-food chain‚ would implement dynamic pricing at its restaurants. Many assumed that meant a Dave’s Double burger would cost an extra $3 during dinner time or medium fries would cost an extra buck during the lunch rush. The changes in pricing are part of a $30 million effort to launch digital menu boards at all of its U.S. company-run restaurants by the end of 2025 and to enhance its digital menus at restaurants across the globe.Dear @Wendys‚No.Sincerely‚Everyone.— My Own Damn Self (@BlackGirlTris) February 27‚ 2024 Many people feared the worst after the reports‚ but Wendy’s hadn’t provided any specifics on pricing during its announcement. “Dynamic pricing can allow Wendy’s to be competitive and flexible with pricing‚ motivate customers to visit and provide them with the food they love at a great value‚” a Wendy’s spokesperson told The New York Post. “We will test a number of features that we think will provide an enhanced customer and crew experience.”The news caused a lot of outrage on Twitter‚ where many railed against what they saw as a plan to start price gouging. They also feared that surge pricing would become ubiquitous in the fast-food industry‚ where consistency and low prices keep people returning to the drive-thru.If you can’t depend on the price of a burger and fries on the drive home from work‚ then what can you depend on?Prices at fast food restaurants are already on the rise. McDonald's raised its prices by 10% over the last year‚ and‚ according to PriceListo‚ Wendey’s prices have soared by 35% between 2022 and 2023 due to a rise in the cost of labor and supplies.Adding surge pricing on top of higher prices would force many people to abandon the drive-thru altogether.Looks like Wendy's got word of @ronnychieng's side hustle and shut it down pic.twitter.com/8NiqzUk1gj— The Daily Show (@TheDailyShow) February 28‚ 2024 Wendys figuring up what your fast food meal cost based on demand and surge pricing pic.twitter.com/zkv7T2siAP— ScottW (@jswtreeman) February 27‚ 2024 The Wendy’s Cashier after selling the guy in front of me a stale burger for $17.98 pic.twitter.com/1UVYYvx3Pp— High Yield Harry (@HighyieldHarry) February 28‚ 2024 Me bursting into Wendy's at 3am so I can get a nacho cheeseburger for $1.50 https://t.co/a03U4gXPsD pic.twitter.com/jocx7YE88V— DOGRUSH (@dagothurfanclub) February 28‚ 2024 Bro I’m just trying to order a sandwich from Wendy’s what the heck is this 😭 pic.twitter.com/ptiPThvVo1— Matt Esparza (@matthewesp) February 27‚ 2024 just got 110 burgers from Wendy's. nice try but your surge pricing won't get me‚ I'm stocked up for the year 🖕 https://t.co/PydoS5hjA0 pic.twitter.com/yJu8tY4mx3— gaz (@gazpachomachine) February 27‚ 2024 Wendys + Robinhood 🤝 pic.twitter.com/QTgT66srUK— David (@dkrasniy) February 28‚ 2024 After the public backlash against its new pricing strategy‚ Wendy’s clarified that it has no intention of implementing surge pricing. “Wendy’s will not implement surge pricing‚ which is the practice of raising prices when demand is highest. We didn’t use that phrase‚ nor do we plan to implement that practice‚” the company said in an email to The Associated Press on Wednesday‚ February 28.However‚ it did add that its new digital menu boards may offer more dynamic menu offerings throughout the day that could save consumers a few bucks for stopping by during non-peak hours. The company said the new digital menus “could allow us to change the menu offerings at different times of day and offer discounts and value offers to our customers more easily‚ particularly in the slower times of day.”

Monica Lewinsky reclaims the office power suit in new voting campaign

Monica Lewinsky knows a thing or two about reinvention. The former White House intern became the source of media obsession after her affair with former President Bill Clinton become public. It solidified her place in history against her will‚ but through her actions since‚ Lewinsky has transformed her public persona into a feminist icon and champion of a powerful anti-bullying campaign. Now‚ the 50-year-old Lewinsky is lending her household name to sustainable fashion brand Reformation and Vote.org in hopes to encourage people to vote this year.In a campaign aptly titled “You’ve Got The Power‚” Lewinsky models fabulously chic and structured workwear pieces—blazers‚ pencil skirts‚ one badass leather trench coat—all while posing in a sky rise office building. There are even subtle (or not-so-subtle) nods to Lewinsky’s previous chapter during the Clinton era: one image where she’s clad in vivid scarlet‚ head-to-toe‚ and another wearing large sunglasses as though she were thwarting the paparazzi. On the campaign website‚ Reformation wrote: “Monica’s been empowering women to use their voices and feel powerful for a long time. So it just makes sense that she’d help us do the same. And while great clothes won’t fix everything‚ putting them on and going to the polls is a pretty good place to start.”On the same page‚ Lewinsky is quoted saying “Voting is using your voice to be heard‚ and it’s the most defining aspect of democracy. If you wanna complain for the next four years‚ you gotta go out and vote."Lewinsky told Elle in an interview published Monday that her decision to join the campaign was inspired by an evident rise in voter frustration and apathy. “We all have to be reminding each other that we can’t let that get in the way of needing to vote‚ that that’s how we use our voice. That’s where our power is‚” she shared. For many women‚ clothing is a powerful form of expression. The fact that we have so many unapologetically feminine elements coming together to encourage women to use their voices‚ spoken in a language that many women understand on a visceral level…that in itself feels like progress.Voting is sure to be tenuous this year. Whether this campaign serves as a reminder to get out there and let your voice be heard‚ or gave you inspiration for your election-day look‚ it’s a pretty worthwhile collaboration. FYI: Though not modeled by Lewinsky‚ Reformation is also selling a limited edition "You Got The Power" sweatshirt. A portion of the proceeds made will got towards Vote.org‚ which works toward making voting more accessible.

Thousands of Migrant Children Have Gone Missing From Sponsor Homes‚ Probe Reveals

23 Attorneys General have sent a letter to the Biden regime demanding answers about the 85‚000 migrant minors who've gone missing in the U.S. since 2022. Thousands of illegal alien children have gone missing from sponsors’ homes in the U.S. after being placed there by the federal government‚ according to a watchdog investigation. An investigation by the Center for Public Integrity and Scripps News focused on the small town of Culpeper‚ Virginia‚ where at least 35 mostly Guatemalan children have gone missing since 2017. They were all deemed unaccompanied minors by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) and placed with sponsors under the auspices of the Department of Health and Human Services.  Once the children were placed into the sponsors’ care‚ the government no longer had custody authority and stopped tracking their whereabouts. From WCPO Cincinnati:Winter Sun Plus is NOW 40% off! Boost your natural defenses with this powerful vitamin D3 and K formula! Between January 2018 and April 2023‚ ORR’s National Call Center — a 24-hour phone helpline created to advise and connect unaccompanied minors and their families with local resources during a crisis — received 6‚318 calls reporting runaway migrant children‚ records obtained and analyzed by Public Integrity show. HHS has declined multiple requests for interviews by Public Integrity and Scripps News. In response to questions about how the department was tracking and investigating these cases‚ HHS said via email that ORR’s legal custody and authority over an unaccompanied child ends when the child is released to a vetted sponsor. “ORR has no jurisdiction over where or with whom the child lives after they have been released to a sponsor. If a child moves in with a different individual‚ they would not be considered a ‘sponsor’ or ‘potential sponsor’ by the ORR program‚ and ORR does not have a role in vetting such an individual‚” the response said. Sgt. Norma McGuckin‚ a detective with the Culpeper Police Department assigned to investigate all missing child migrant cases‚ described how many of the children are placed with “unrelated sponsors”‚ which make investigating their disappearances difficult because the sponsors don’t have that much information about them. “Some of these sponsors don’t know anything about these kids because they didn’t know them before ORR sent them here‚” said McGuckin. “It depends who I get on the phone. It’s never the same person. Sometimes they will provide me a date of birth‚ name. At times they might give me potential or other names of sponsors they were looking at to release this child to. And they may give me a number‚ but most times‚ I don’t get much.”  But the missing children in the small town of Culpeper is just a microcosm of the large-scale problem of unaccompanied migrant children going missing in the U.S. But the missing migrant children reports in Culpeper are not isolated. Following an influx of unaccompanied minors entering the U.S.‚ thousands have disappeared from sponsors’ homes after the federal government placed them there. ORR handled 2‚724 reports in 2022 — six times the number it recorded in 2020. But there is no clear local‚ state or federal government agency taking responsibility for searching for many of these missing children or investigating why a growing number have disappeared‚ the Center or Public Integrity and Scripps News have found. According to HHS figures‚ approximately 85‚000 migrant children‚ all between the ages of 13 and 17‚ have gone missing in the U.S. since 2022. Wisconsin Attorney General Alan Wilson‚ along with 22 other AGs‚ sent a letter to the Biden administration this week demanding answers on the “trafficking of migrant children” and why the government can’t determine the whereabouts of the 85‚000 missing minors. “Reports show that many of those children have been forced into the labormarket‚ where they work debilitating hours under dangerous conditions in violation of child-labor laws or are sex trafficked‚” the letter states. “Senator Chuck Grassley recognized this problem and asked the Department of Homeland Security for a plan more than three months ago‚ but no plan has been forthcoming. That is unacceptable.” “The Department of Health and Human Services must ensure that it is not handing over children to criminals and sex traffickers. It cannot do so if it does not know to whom it is handing these children. Even worse‚ is that it appears to have no idea where those children are being sent. Missing children must be identified‚ and potential sponsors must be vetted‚” the letter concluded. Biden’s open border policy has not only resulted in an unprecedented humanitarian and political crisis from the millions of unvetted illegals pouring into cities‚ but a child trafficking crisis as well. WH Press Sec. Claims Biden ‘Doesn’t Need’ Cognitive Assessment‚ Says ‘Passes Cognitive Test Every Day’

Apologists rely on 'Trust me‚ bro' deflection strategy as Biden's mental decline a national concern. Bumbling 81-year-old puppet POTUS Joe Biden doesn’t need to take a cognitive test because he performs his job daily‚ White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre unashamedly argued. Asked during a briefing Wednesday why Biden’s annual physical examination wouldn’t include a cognitive function screening‚ Jean-Pierre denied such a test was necessary and told reporters concerns over his mental decline were overblown. In Blow To Special Counsel Smith‚ SCOTUS Agrees To Hear Trump Immunity Appeal

With the presidential immunity case stalled for nearly three months and will miss the originally scheduled March 4 trial date -- cue the liberal meltdowns! The Supreme Court granted certiorari of former President Donald Trump’s presidential immunity claim in the federal criminal case charging him for actions on Jan. 6‚ 2021. The presidential immunity defense has stalled the case for nearly three months and will miss the originally scheduled March 4 trial date. The high court’s decision automatically stays lower courts from moving forward in the case. As Catherine Yang reports at The Epoch Times‚ the court also granted special counsel Jack Smith’s request that President Trump’s petition for a stay be treated as a petition for review. “The case will be set for oral argument during the week of April 22‚” the order reads.Winter Sun Plus is NOW 40% off! Boost your natural defenses with this powerful vitamin D3 and K formula! The parties have been instructed to limit arguments to the question: “Whether and if so to what extent does a former President enjoy presidential immunity from criminal prosecution for conduct alleged to involve official acts during his tenure in office.” The Supreme Court’s framing combines the various questions the former president and special counsel had presented to the court. Prosecutors argued that presidents enjoy no immunity from criminal prosecution‚ while defense attorneys argued that official acts of a president during his tenure are protected by presidential immunity. Read the full one-page order from SCOTUS below: President Trump had originally filed a motion to dismiss the case based on presidential immunity last year. When U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan rejected the motion in December‚ the defense took the case to appeals court‚ putting the pretrial schedule in limbo. A federal appeals court panel rejected this defense on Feb. 6‚ and in an atypical order withheld its mandate on the condition that President Trump take his case to the Supreme Court by Feb. 12. Normally‚ the appellants would be allowed to petition for a rehearing with the whole bench of the appeals court‚ which might have drawn out the process for a few more months. The appeals panels expressly ordered that a rehearing petition would not stay the case. President Trump’s attorneys then asked the high court to stay all lower court proceedings in a petition to the Chief Justice‚ and prosecutors responded by asking that the Supreme Court reject the petition for a stay. Prosecutors had argued the court was unlikely to grant certiorari‚ as they declined to hear this same case last year when the special counsel petitioned the high court last year when the motion was appealed. They also asked the court to schedule a hearing in March if it did grant certiorari‚ or review of a lower court’s actions. The Supreme Court has dismissed the application for a stay as moot because granting certiorari would effectively halt lower court proceedings. “Without expressing a view on the merits‚ this Court directs the Court of Appeals to continue withholding issuance of the mandate until the sending down of the judgment of this Court‚” the new order reads. President Trump’s briefs and any amicus curiae briefs need to be filed by March 19‚ and prosecutors have until April 8 to respond. President Trump can then file a reply brief by April 15‚ and arguments will be heard the week of April 22. A specific date for the hearing was not set. This is the second case President Trump has brought before the Supreme Court this year. The high court is also set to rule on whether President Trump is eligible to appear on the ballot after the Colorado Supreme Court ruled he was disqualified under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment‚ finding the Jan. 6‚ 2021 Capitol breach an “insurrection.” Jonathan Turley said on X that “the order setting argument on immunity for April 22 is a blow to Smith on the calendar.” “Rather than granting a stay‚ it has constructively created such a stay by scheduling the argument. Keep in mind‚ even if Smith prevails‚ pre-trial work must wait for the return of the mandate……Even if the Court issues a decision before June in favor of the government‚ the trial court must hash out discovery and other motions. That would push the trial closer to the November election in tension with existing DOJ policies.” The mainstream media is distraught… the tone in MSNBC and Andrew Weissmann is like end of the world pic.twitter.com/HdAtAcXcCH— Andrew Fisher (@acpandy) February 28‚ 2024 Epoch Times’ Catherine Tang notes that the concept of presidential immunity was defined by the Supreme Court in a 1982 case where a fired military contractor sued former President Richard Nixon after he lost his job. The high court ruled a president’s immunity from civil suit was “absolute” and that it extended to the “outer perimeter” of his office. President Trump’s attorneys argue that his actions on Jan. 6 were part of his official duties as president‚ pointing to his record of taking election integrity seriously. Prosecutors argue that President Trump has no immunity in this case because it is a criminal case. The Supreme Court has never addressed whether presidents have immunity from criminal prosecution‚ making the issue untested legal territory. President Trump’s attorneys say that to open presidents up to criminal prosecution in this way will only invite partisan retaliation by opposing administrations and opens up former presidents to prosecution for official acts. They argued in court filings that criminal prosecutions have never been pursued against presidents in or out of office because it was understood to “dimish” the office the way a civil suit would. They added that the court has said that the proper redress would be through impeachment. Prosecutors‚ meanwhile‚ argue that no criminal prosecutions have been brought against other presidents because Jan. 6 was unique‚ but a case could have been brought against President Nixon‚ who was pardoned.
