Top Keepsakes Parents Save From Their Baby’s First Years and Why

A survey of 2‚000 parents looked at how they hold onto their child’s younger years‚ with three in four saying their child is growing up way too fast. Most of them believe they’ve became a more sentimental person since becoming a parent—and their answers confirmed it. Welker's Haley Interview Is All About Trump‚ Zero Questions on Biden

On NBC’s Meet the Press‚ host Kristen Welker’s big interview was with Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley‚ which took up more than 17 minutes in the hour‚ with around 25 questions…and not a single question was focused on President Biden or the Democrats. Later‚ when Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-Mich.) was on‚ all her questions were about Biden‚ about how he’s dealing with “pro-Palestinian” voters‚ air drops in the Gaza strip‚ the border crisis‚ and if Biden has “urgency” on the latest bad poll for him (from The New York Times). Haley would have enjoyed answering those questions. But Welker preferred to talk horse race – when are you getting out? – and whether she would endorse Trump. The first 11 questions were all horse-race. Then Welker turned to January 6‚ and whether Haley agreed with Mitch McConnell that Trump was “practically and morally responsible” for the rioting. Haley argued that the pro-Trump rally demonstrated freedom of speech‚ but then it went wrong at the Capitol. This was the sharpest point: KRISTEN WELKER: Do you think Donald Trump would follow the Constitution if he were elected to a second term? NIKKI HALEY: I don't know. I don't‚ I don’t know. I mean‚ you always want to think someone will. But I don't know. You know‚ when you‚ when you go in and you talk about revenge‚ when you go and you talk about‚ you know‚ vindication‚ when you go and you talk about‚ what does that mean? Like‚ I don't know what that means. And only he can answer for that. This gave Welker the opening for the anti-GOP hardball: “What does it say about the state of the Republican Party that you're saying that you don't know if the GOP front-runner will follow the Constitution?” Haley said “that’s not the Republican Party. That is Donald Trump‚” and she repeated that the country could do better than Trump and Biden. After a break‚ Welker turned to some policy questions – their current favorite‚ which is IVF regulations in Alabama and whether there should be a federal solution (with some abortion questions thrown in). That was seven questions‚ and then there were two about aid to Ukraine. Welker ended by going back to the horse race‚ pressing her to repeat she won’t run on a third-party ticket in the fall. It's fascinating that Welker can worry about unconstitutional Republicans‚ but never ask Dingell if Biden's respecting the Constitution (starting with his "student loan forgiveness" spending‚ going around Congress and the courts. As for extremists‚ Welker suggested to Dingell that Democrats need to do more for pro-Hamas advocates: "But this issue‚ Congresswoman‚ as you know‚ has really gained traction. In fact 11 other states that are poised to vote have similar protest votes that are being mobilized. What is your message to those voters? And is the president doing enough to reach out to them?"

12-year-old Houston girl found unharmed after going missing for a week: Report

A 12-year-old girl who suddenly went missing from the Houston area has been found unharmed‚ according to the authorities in Houston. E'minie Hughes was last seen on February 22‚ and the Houston Police issued an Amber Alert shortly after on Wednesday. When authorities issued the Amber Alert‚ they operated under the assumption that the young girl could have been trafficked‚ according to CNN. The authorities noted that Hughes was found in Columbus‚ Texas‚ which is about 73 miles from the Houston area where she initially went missing. After the girl was found‚ FBI Houston posted an update on X‚ writing: "FBI Houston is proud to have helped rescue yet another missing child. Two kids recovered in two days. Partnerships." The police did not release any other information about finding Hughes. They said the investigation is still ongoing. — (@) When Hughes went missing on February 22‚ the Houston police initially believed she disappeared on her own. However‚ the police reportedly obtained new information that led them to believe that the young girl could have been trafficked. The authorities did not reveal what information led them to believe this.Another report mentioned that Hughes could have been using a social media app known as Tagged‚ and the authorities believed she could have been in Missouri City‚ which is located in the Houston metro area. The social media platform's website says that it "focuses on connecting people for friendship or dating through features like Browse‚ Meet Me and Live." Tagged's parent company‚ The Meet Group‚ told CNN that they contacted the House police to offer assistance in any way they could. Before she was found by the police‚ Hughes was last seen getting into a dark-colored four-door Dodge pickup around 1:40 a.m.‚ according to the Amber Alert.“Our terms and conditions prohibit minors from using our apps‚ and we utilize both technology and manual analysis to help check for minors who may have registered for our platform using a false age‚” the company said. “Should we be made aware of any attempts to circumvent our process‚ we thoroughly investigate any report involving a possible minor user or child exploitation.”It is not clear why Hughes was on Tagged in the first place. The investigation into why the girl went missing is still ongoing. Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!

Father accused of drugging daughter's 12-year-old friends with smoothies laced with benzos at sleepover: 'Mom please pick me up'

An Oregon father is accused of drugging his daughter's 12-year-old friends with smoothies laced with benzos during a sleepover. Michael Meyden – a 57-year-old man from Lake Oswego – turned himself in at the Clackamas County Jail on Feb. 28. According to the Lake Oswego Police Department‚ Meyden was charged with three counts of causing another to ingest a controlled substance‚ three counts of application of a schedule-4 controlled substance to another‚ and three counts of delivery of a controlled substance to a minor. On Saturday‚ Aug. 26‚ 2023‚ the Lake Oswego Police Department was notified that three 12-year-old girls were being treated at Randall Children’s Hospital in Portland. The three girls had tested positive for benzodiazepine. The three girls were friends with Meyden's daughter‚ and they attended a sleepover at Meyden's home the night before. Sometime between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m.‚ Meyden served the girls mango smoothies laced with benzodiazepine‚ according to a probable cause affidavit written by Lake Oswego Police Department detective Nicole Palmeri.Meyden allegedly "insisted they drink them‚" and the girls told police the smoothies had "tiny white chunks throughout and sprinkled on top‚" according to the affidavit. One of the girls allegedly didn't like the smoothie‚ but Meyden reportedly made a second one for her to try. According to the Drug Enforcement Administration website‚ benzodiazepines are "depressants that produce sedation and hypnosis‚ relieve anxiety and muscle spasms‚ and reduce seizures."The DEA website noted‚ "Benzodiazepines slow down the central nervous system and may cause sleepiness and relaxed mood. Benzodiazepines are associated with amnesia‚ hostility‚ irritability‚ and vivid or disturbing dreams."The drugs can cause: "Extreme drowsiness‚ confusion‚ impaired coordination‚ decreased reflexes‚ respiratory depression‚ coma‚ and possible death."The drugs are commonly known as benzos and downers. The girls told police that they soon felt "woozy‚" "clumsy‚" and even blacked out after falling into a "thick‚ deep sleep" that she had never experienced before‚" according to the affidavit. The Oregon father was "very involved" with the girls' activities during the sleepover‚ which included watching movies and having a "spa night‚" according to the affidavit. "According to the affidavit‚ Meyden made repeated visits to the basement‚ at one point holding his finger under one girl’s nose and waving his hand in front of her face to see if she was asleep‚" The Oregonian reported. "He also moved one girl’s arm and moved her body on the bed‚ the affidavit says. The girl “remained awake in fear that Mr. Meyden was going to do something” to her friend‚ according to the affidavit."Once Meyden left the room at 1:43 a.m.‚ one of the girls sent a text message that read: "Mom please pick me up and say I had a family emergency. I don’t feel safe. I might not respond but please come get me (crying emoji)‚ Please. Please pick up. Please. PLEASE!!"Police said Meyden returned to the basement and stood near the girls for an extended period of time. A 12-year-old girl told Palmeri that she "could feel him watching her by his presence as she kept her eyes shut‚ pretending to be asleep."Meyden appeared to be "doing tests to make sure we weren’t awake‚" a girl told police. The parent who received the concerning text message purportedly informed the parents of the other girls at the sleepover‚ and they went to retrieve their daughters at around 3 a.m. on Sunday. The parents alleged that Meyden resisted at first‚ and said for them to return in the morning to pick up their girls. At around noon on Sunday‚ Palmeri interviewed one of the girls and said she "walked slowly and used the assistance of her mother for balance‚ her eyelids were heavy‚ and she spoke slowly."Meyden's attorney‚ Mark Cogan‚ told NBC News on Friday‚ "Mr. Meyden is presumed innocent. We have not seen the evidence. The indictment was issued by a grand jury behind closed doors where no judge‚ no defense attorney‚ was allowed. And we hope that people will reserve judgment until all the facts are known."Meyden was arraigned on Wednesday and pleaded not guilty. He was released after posting $50‚000 bail.Meyden and his wife divorced late last year‚ according to court records.
