Dr. Phil Reveals Facebook Censored His Video on Child Trafficking at the Border

If you're tired of censorship and dystopian threats against civil liberties‚ subscribe to Reclaim The Net. In an interview on “The Breakfast Club‚” well-known radio and TV show show host‚ psychologist Dr. Phil McGraw‚ usually known as Dr. Phil‚ called out Facebook and Instagram for their censorship practices. He shared this during a conversation with the show’s host‚ Charlamagne tha God. Dr. Phil highlighted the significance of social media platforms in shaping public opinion‚ particularly among young Americans. Dr. Phil’s encounter with censorship began after he posted a video clip from his visit to the US-Mexico border on Facebook and Instagram. The clip‚ which quickly garnered tens of thousands of views‚ featured Dr. Phil discussing child trafficking. However‚ just 50 minutes after going live and experiencing rapid viral growth‚ the video was abruptly taken down. Dr. Phill stated: “I put a clip up of my trip to the border‚ just a small clip… I posted it up on Facebook and Instagram and it was the part of me talking to him about trafficking these children… It was up about 50 minutes and going viral super fast‚ I mean like tens of thousands of views in a matter of a few minutes‚ it was going straight vertical and then bang! It just stopped. It stopped and it got shut down. They just – the algorithm – they shut it down.” https://video.reclaimthenet.org/articles/dr-p-ctg2.mp4 Charlamagne‚ in response‚ shared a similar experience with The Breakfast Club content on YouTube. He pointed out that their politically charged videos often face restrictions due to the censorship algorithms embedded in various social media platforms. Biden Goes To Court‚ Demanding Warrantless Surveillance Powers

If you're tired of censorship and dystopian threats against civil liberties‚ subscribe to Reclaim The Net. A request by the Biden administration to the courts for the renewal of contentious warrantless surveillance powers‚ has stoked controversy. These surveillance powers‚ demanded by American intelligence agencies‚ are on the verge of expiration. Critics argue that this move either reflects business as usual‚ or reflects a sidestepping of spying reforms. According to US Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR)‚ the decision of the US Department of Justice to pursue an extension of the FISA Section 702 for a year without congressional consideration manifests a disregard for reforms aimed at safeguarding American rights. Related: FISA Court Shows the FBI Illegally Searched Data on a Senator‚ a State Senator‚ and a Judge  Expressing his criticism‚ Wyden offers an alternative legislation which he and other lawmakers proposed that seeks to maintain Section 702 surveillance albeit under strict regulations constraining unwarranted spying on Americans. Wyden is particularly irked by the White House’s direction to prosecutors to seek renewal of the FISA powers in court before his proposed alternative legislation could be wholly considered by Congress. Senator Wyden did not mince words in expressing his dissatisfaction with the approach of the Biden administration and the Justice department. “It is utterly ridiculous that the Biden Administration and the Justice Department would rather risk the long-term future of an important surveillance authority than support a single meaningful reform to protect Americans’ rights‚” he said. The contentious issue revolves around Section 702‚ an amendment to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act that allows US intelligence agencies to spy on foreigners considered a threat to national security. Despite the fact that this surveillance is meant for overseas intelligence targets‚ the incidental warrantless surveillance of US residents has prompted concerns among privacy advocates. The FBI’s past missteps of using Section 702 to snoop on various individuals ranging from US elected officials to campaign donors adds credence to these concerns. Section 702 is scheduled to lapse by April 19 unless Congress moves to renew it. This has led to a push among several lawmakers to alter the rules and add guards against potential future abuse. To keep it running‚ Congress had granted a four-month extension last year. There are currently four legislative proposals in the works to renew Section 702. Two of these initiatives‚ namely the Protect Liberty and End Warrantless Surveillance Act and the Government Surveillance Reform Act of 2023‚ entail a warrant requirement prior to investigations. The White House has resisted attempts to reform Section 702. The post Biden Goes To Court‚ Demanding Warrantless Surveillance Powers appeared first on Reclaim The Net.

House Republicans Seek Documents From Google on Alleged Government Influence in Biased AI Program Gemini

If you're tired of censorship and dystopian threats against civil liberties‚ subscribe to Reclaim The Net. Under increasing scrutiny‚ Google is being pressed by US House Republicans to disclose any government influences that may have swayed the development of its controversial artificial intelligence program‚ Gemini. The application‚ recently criticized for its racist ideologies by refusing to depict white people‚ has been a hot topic and the cause of much criticism. The House Judiciary Committee addressed a letter to Alphabet‚ Google’s parent company‚ over the weekend. We obtained a copy of the letter for you here. The document stresses that the committee is insisting upon receiving any connection or correspondence detailing interaction between the American authorities and Alphabet concerning Gemini. All requested communication records must be submitted to them by March 17th. The committee’s chairperson‚ Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan‚ authored the letter stating their interest in how the AI model’s results were intentionally skewed‚ saying‚ “In light of new reporting regarding how Alphabet intentionally biased its AI model‚ Gemini‚ by giving it instructions that distort the results shared with Americans…we write to inform you that the committee views the subpoena as covering material relating to this technology.” Reports from inside the Gemini team have raised eyebrows‚ suggesting that the program adhered to the Biden administration’s guidelines emphasizing “equity.” This concept prioritizes promoting traditionally marginalized groups‚ even over accuracy or truth. This resulted in the AI system often presenting images that disproportionately represent diverse individuals‚ ignoring historical accuracy. Gemini’s portrayal of historical figures‚ for example‚ the Founding Fathers or revolutionary soldiers as black or other minorities and the refusal to portray them as white‚ was the subject of widespread ridicule that affected Google’s stock price. The letter goes on to convey fears circling potential violations of free speech. The committee observed Google’s history of censoring speech protected under the First Amendment as per government requests and demands.
