Megyn Kelly said “it is over for Joe Biden” following CNN’s presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and Biden. During Sirius XM’s “The Megyn Kelly Show” 2024 Post-Debate Special, Kelly opened her podcast by calling into question whether Biden will be able to finish his term after the president stumbled, rambled, and froze several times throughout the course of the 90 minutes. “In my view, it is over for Joe Biden,” the host told her audience. “His presidential campaign came to an end tonight, whether he knows it or not. There will be meetings tonight, first thing tomorrow amidst Democratic Party leaders about how to get him off the ticket.” “How to change into someone else. There have to be,” she added. “Already, we are seeing some reaction from top Democrats, who rarely criticize the president, suggesting he needs to have a serious look at this performance tonight and assess for himself whether he can go forward.” “It was an unmitigated disaster. It was uncomfortable to watch,” Kelly continued, noting that while watching the debate, she thought Biden was “so distant, so frail, so hard to comprehend, so unsteady.” The journalist said she has real questions whether Biden “will be his party’s nominee” and “whether he can possibly serve out his term,” calling the contrast between Trump and Biden on stage together “stark.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP The host of the show said Trump came out “calm, cool, collected … he looked comfortable” and “strong,” unlike his opponent. “He’s the President of the United States, that man [Biden], who couldn’t spit out numbers … and lied at every answer because he seemed confused,” Kelly said. “How is that our leader? How are the Democrats going to nominate that man?” “And shame on you, Jill Biden, for allowing that,” she added. “I want answers from all these top Democrats telling us about how robust Biden is. That’s who I want to hear from most. You lied. Did you not think this moment was going to come? That we’d never see this?” “It’s a dark day for this country,” Kelly continued. “He’s our leader. No one wants to see him embarrassed, but we’re embarrassed ourselves tonight.” Kelly’s comments were echoed by many other journalists on social media during the debate. Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld wrote on X, “It doesn’t matter what the answers are anymore. The debate demonstrates what we already knew: Biden is not fit to be president. It’s sad that it had to come to this – to force this elderly man through this. and force us to watch. This is gross.” New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristoff added on X, “I wish Biden would reflect on this debate performance and then announce his decision to withdraw from the race, throwing the choice of Democratic nominee to the convention. Someone like @gretchenwhitmer or @SherrodBrown or @SecRaimondo could still jump in and beat Trump.” While CNN anchor Kasie Hunt wrote on X, “The voice, open-mouthed look, and visual contrast between President Biden and former President Trump all have Democrats I’m talking to nearly beside themselves watching this debate.”

Daily Wire co-founder Jeremy Boreing said that the Thursday night presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden may end up being one of the most important debates in American history. Boreing made the comments during Thursday night’s “Backstage” episode where Daily Wire hosts Ben Shapiro, Matt Walsh, Andrew Klavan, and Michael Knowles reacted to the face-off between Trump and Biden hosted by CNN. Much of the focus of the analysis looked at Biden’s poor performance as he mumbled and appeared confused throughout. “This may end up truly being one of the most consequential or the most consequential presidential debates in the history of the country,” Boreing said immediately after both Trump and Biden gave their closing arguments. “We were all joking earlier about how Biden’s doctors administered narcotics to him, I now believe they practice necromancy. That was the closest to a dead person I’ve ever seen on TV,”  Knowles said, also commenting on Biden’s physical and mental performance. “Biden can’t even finish his sentence. Trails off into nonsense. Never seen a presidential candidate freeze like that. A moment that will be remembered forever. And it’s only going to get worse for Biden from here,” Walsh said. Shapiro said that Biden’s performance should lead Americans to ask more questions about how the White House was being run. For three years, the media and the Democratic Party have been lying to you. Who is the person that is President of the United States?” The hosts also praised Trump for his performance during the debate, saying that he “clocked” Biden on issues from immigration to inflation. Trump consistently brought up the millions of illegal immigrants who have entered the country under Biden. “The other thing about Trump that I have been saying for years, and no one will believe this, but it’s true, is he learns stuff, more than other people his age and more than most politicians,” Klavan said. Following the debate, reports quickly emerged that top Democratic strategists were panicking over Biden’s debate performance. The next debate is scheduled for September.

President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump squared off on Thursday night in the first of two scheduled debates of the 2024 presidential campaign.  CNN hosted the debate, which took place in Atlanta. The network declared that the first presidential debate would be held without a live audience, but would include two commercial breaks—the first presidential debate in history to have ads.  CNN also granted the debate moderators a new power; namely, the ability to mute one candidate when the other was speaking.  Many of those decisions drew ire from critics, but the network’s choice of the debate’s two moderators probably drew the most criticism. Moderators Jake Tapper and Dana Bash have openly and consistently expressed disdain for Trump, accusing Trump of crimes ranging from Russian collusion and corruption to channeling Adolf Hitler and not “trusting the science” during COVID-19. Tapper has made a point of refusing to show widely covered Trump rallies and speeches on CNN, explaining that Trump was too “mean” to air clips of him with audio.  However, perhaps because of criticism of Tapper and Bash ahead of the debate, they were largely fair and evenhanded in their treatment of Trump. Here are four of the major highlights of Thursday’s debate. 1) Medicare for Illegal Aliens? When discussing his economic record, Biden appeared to lose his way, pausing for several seconds, stuttering, and leading to a claim that he “beat Medicare.” “… Making sure we make every single solitary person eligible for what I’ve been able to do with COVID, excuse me, with umm, dealing with everything we had to deal with. Look, we finally beat Medicare,” the president said. Trump responded: “Well, he’s right. He did beat Medicare. At the southern border, illegal immigrants who are taken into Customs and Border Protection or Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody are given medical treatment, shelter, and meals. The ICE Health Service Corps’ current policy is to reimburse those providing those services “at Medicare rates.” While illegal immigrants are ordinarily not eligible for Medicare and Medicaid, noncitizen parents with “birthright citizenship” children are eligible for Medicaid. Trump further suggested that Biden would destroy Social Security by overloading it with the cost of illegal immigrants added to the rolls. Biden announced a plan this week to provide some illegal immigrants with work permits and Social Security numbers, which would increase the spending burden on the struggling federal program. 2) Support for Late-Term Abortions? As Trump and Biden discussed the topic of abortion, Biden appeared to equate the deaths of American women at the hands of illegal immigrants to purported efforts to stop women who are attempting to cross state lines to get abortions.  “There’s so many young women who have been, including the young woman who just was murdered, and he went to the funeral, and the idea that she was murdered by an immigrant, they talk about that, but here’s the deal, there’s a lot of young women who are being raped by their in-laws, by their spouses, brothers and sisters. Wade.  Trump argued that Biden and Democrats support allowing babies to die after they have been born alive, pointing to former Democratic Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s comments on what his critics called infanticide.  Biden, angered by Trump’s remarks, emphatically argued that Roe v. Wade does not allow for late-term abortion.  “We are not for late-term abortion. Period. Period. Period,” the president said.  “Under Roe v. Wade, you have late-term abortion,” Trump said, pushing back. “You can do whatever you want, depending on the state. We don’t think that’s a good thing. We think it’s a radical thing. It was also debunked just this week by the fact-check site Snopes. Trump actually said, “And you had people—and I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists—because they should be condemned totally. But you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists” to describe those attending a protest over a Confederate statue being taken down.
