Republican bill would throw Missouri teachers who transition students on sex offender registry

Republican bill would throw Missouri teachers who transition students on sex offender registry

There are policies in place in various schools across the country that prevent educators and administrators from informing parents that their children are undergoing so-called transitions at school. In many cases‚ teachers and staff are actually encouraged to covertly aid confused students in masquerading as members of the opposite sex. Missouri could soon do things a whole lot differently. Rather than afford educators cover to transition kids behind parents' backs‚ Republican state Rep. Jamie Gragg and a few of his peers want to put them on a sex offender registry. Gragg‚ of Christian County‚ introduced House Bill 2885 last month. The bill‚ which has since been co-sponsored by Republican Reps. Jeff Farnan‚ Hannah Kelly‚ and Brian Seitz‚ would amend state law concerning the registry of sex offenders and introduce a penalty for "the offense of contributing to social transition." "Social transition" is defined in the legislation thusly: "the process by which an individual adopts the name‚ pronouns‚ and gender expression‚ such as clothing or haircuts‚ that match the individual's gender identity and not the gender assumed by the individual's sex at birth." Under the proposed law‚ a teacher or school counselor acting in official capacity who "provides support‚ regardless of whether the support is material‚ information‚ or other resources to a child regarding social transition‚" can be charged with a Class E felony. In Missouri‚ Class E felony convictions can land offenders a fine of up to $10‚000 and four years in prison. Offenders found guilty of socially transitioning students would have to register as a sex offenders. While grouped on the lowest tier‚ offenders would nevertheless be required to report to the chief law enforcement official annually. Presently‚ Missouri bars most sex offenders from loitering within 500 feet of a school when one or more minors are present; approaching or contacting children near a child care facility building; knowingly being present in or loitering with 500 feet of a public park or playground equipment; and knowingly coaching a sports team in which a minor is a member. Consequently‚ a conviction under this proposed law would likely amount to the end of an offender's career in education. Gragg told KYTV-TV‚ "This bill was created and really submitted to help parents and families and to help teachers. I talk to parents every day who are frustrated with things that kids are being taught in school." "I would say the large majority of teachers in our state‚ and also in our in our country‚ do a great job‚ they do a fantastic job‚" said Gragg. "This [bill] is to put the social learning development of our children back in the hands of the parents." The Republican added in a statement to Newsweek‚ "Education begins at home‚ and it's time for the few liberal activists who've infiltrated the education system to stop interfering in the relationships between parents and their children. We need to make sure our teachers‚ those who spend their lives helping our children grow and prepare for the world‚ can focus on teaching. HB 2885 does just that." LGBT activists have denounced the Republican proposal to protect kids from grooming efforts at school. Aaron Schekorra‚ the executive director of the GLO Center‚ an LGBT activist establishment in Springfield‚ suggested to KYTV that HB 2885 "is just another in a long string of pieces of legislation that are meant to incite hatred and violence against the queer community. And it comes from a source that‚ frankly‚ has just been a bully to a lot of marginalized groups in our state." Alejandra Caraballo‚ a radical transvestite and Harvard Law School clinical instructor‚ called the bill "insane." LGBT activist Erin Reed noted it was unlikely that "something like this could pass‚ even in Missouri‚ but it's worth noting as it's rare we get 'new' anti-trans bills that haven't been written before." He added‚ "And in a much more fascist‚ right wing‚ anti-trans government‚ should they win‚ it wouldn't surprise me." Like Blaze News? Jason Kelce goes viral for speaking boldly about the importance of loving fathers: 'The greatest gift a child could ask for'

Philadelphia Eagles lineman Jason Kelce officially retired on Monday‚ ending his 13-year NFL career. It's big news in the sports world‚ no doubt. But it's what Kelce said about fatherhood that transcended the sports industry and sent the future NFL Hall of Fame inductee viral. At his retirement press conference‚ Kelce recounted his football career from his peewee days through his professional tenure. It's a story about football‚ of course‚ but Kelce weaved another‚ perhaps more important‚ theme through his story: family. His brother — superstar tight end Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs — his father‚ mother‚ and his own wife and three daughters: Kelce explained how each has played a critical role in his NFL career and‚ more importantly‚ how his family has shaped him to be the man he is today. "A father who is present‚ loving‚ devoted just may be the greatest gift a child could ask for in our society." The climax of his speech‚ which has received tens of millions of views on social media‚ centered on Kelce's reflection of the critical role that fathers play in the lives of their children. "I am a product of my upbringing‚" Kelce said."I think one of the best things a person can be in this world is a father — a father who is present‚ loving‚ devoted just may be the greatest gift a child could ask for in our society‚" he explained. — (@) Kelce's father‚ Ed‚ is "damn good‚" he added‚ because he "believed in me more than anyone." "He believed in me and my brother. And whenever my own insecurities would arise or self-doubt would come in‚ he would stifle them with the warm embrace of belief‚ unwavering love and belief‚" Kelce said.Kelce is right. Loving and nurturing fathers are critical for the health of children‚ family‚ and society itself. It's refreshing that a sports superstar of Kelce's caliber is using his platform to speak boldly about the importance of fatherhood and against the cultural lie that true fulfillment is found within the individual rather than the sacrificial pouring out of oneself to build up others‚ especially a family. Journalist exposes media outlet paying millions to US companies to publish propaganda disguised as news articles

It appears that major U.S. media outlets have been receiving millions of dollars from China Daily‚ a state-owned Chinese media company. All China Daily has asked for in exchange for the millions is that these American publications publish Chinese propaganda disguised as news articles. According to Drew Holden from the Washington Free Beacon‚ China Daily is “a mouthpiece for the Chinese Communist Party.” “It’s fully owned and operated by the CCP‚” Holden tells Stu Burguiere‚ revealing that media outlets were getting paid “to include puff pieces about the Chinese regime” and “to talk about U.S.-China relations” in “ways that weren’t connected to the facts at all.” The New York Times‚ Washington Post‚ and Wall Street Journal had all been a part of this before severing their connections with China Daily when news got out about their involvement in 2021. Time magazine has also partnered up with China Daily‚ receiving $3.5 million from the CCP-operated company since 2021. Time created a segment called “China Watch‚” which is a segment on Time’s website that runs advertisements that Holden says “really just look like bad news articles under the Time magazine logo.” “They’re all gonna stop and stop taking the Chinese propaganda money. Right‚ Drew?” Stu Burguiere asks‚ noting that it would make sense now that they’ve been caught. “You would think‚” Holden laughs. “Straight propaganda from our geopolitical nemesis in China being printed underneath their logos to be distributed to their readership‚ and they’re taking a ton of money to do this‚” he adds. Self-described Ohio 'incel' sentenced to 6 years behind bars after planning to kill sorority girls in manifesto

An Ohio man who described himself as an "incel" — a moniker that stands for "involuntary celibate" — has been delivered a six-year sentence behind bars after pleading guilty to a hate crime charge‚ according to Fox News Digital.Tres Genco‚ 24‚ originally from Hillsboro‚ reportedly admitted to drawing up hate crime plans to shoot 3‚000 people. The specific group he wanted to target was sorority girls at a university in Ohio in 2021. In 2019‚ Genco wrote in a manifesto that he wanted "death" to come upon women he had been "deprived" of but fantasized about "having." U.S. Attorney Kenneth L. Parker said in a statement on February 29 that "Genco intended to carry out a devastating mass murder of innocent women in this state for no other reason than the fact that he hated them. Everybody deserves to live without threats of violence or fearing acts of terror.""Genco’s sentence reflects the need to protect the community from him for a significant period of time. I thank each of our law enforcement partners for working together to keep our community safe."In the strange manifesto‚ entitled "A Hideous Symphony‚ a manifesto written by Tres Genco‚ the socially exiled incel‚" the then-19-year-old jotted down that he planned to "go into the U.S. Army" to prepare for "the attainment of one reality‚" according to an indictment. The incel movement is an online community of men who characterize themselves as "involuntarily celibate‚" who often experience hatred and anger toward women and blame them for their own lack of a sexual life‚ prosecutors noted. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Ohio noted that Genco harbored hatred toward the very women he fantasized about and wished he could have.Genco wrote: "I will slaughter out of hatred‚ jealousy‚ and revenge.""I will take away the power of life that they withhold from me‚ by showing there is more than just happiness and fulfillment‚ there is encompassing death‚ the great equalizer that will bear all of us into its seductively calm velvet of silence and serenity."In an online post‚ Genco explained how he had sprayed "some foids [women] and couples" with a water gun that had orange juice in it. He compared his "extremely empowering action" to a similar action carried out by known incel Elliot Rodger. In May 2014‚ Rodger went on a killing spree‚ murdering six people and injuring 14 others‚ including shooting individuals outside a University of California‚ Santa Barbara‚ sorority house. Just before Rodger carried out the horrific attack‚ he shot a group of students with a water gun filled with orange juice. Rodger also reportedly emailed a 107‚000-word manifesto to media outlets before he carried out the mass shooting. Like Blaze News? Groups behind Soros-backed DA's recall effort submit 123K signatures for verification — only need 73K

The groups behind an effort to recall George Soros-backed‚ leftist Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price announced that they submitted 123‚000 signatures to election officials on Monday‚ the San Francisco Chronicle reported. The Alameda County Registrar's Office has 10 days to verify the signatures. The groups only need approximately 73‚000 verified signatures for a special election‚ which could be held as early as April or May‚ KABC-TV reported.Carl Chan‚ a leader of the recall and the president of Oakland's Chinatown Chamber of Commerce‚ said that the effort is "not about politics‚ but about public safety.""They said it wasn't going to work‚ that we don't have the money‚" Chan remarked. "When there is a will‚ there is a way‚ and guess what? We all did it."Brenda Grisham‚ another leader of the recall effort‚ stated‚ "I have never said it before but I am saying it today: We are going to win.""We shouldn't have to do this‚ but for the safety of our community‚ the safety of our children‚ the safety of our businesses‚ this is something that had to be done. This is a right for the citizens of Alameda County‚" Grisham added.Save Alameda for Everyone‚ one of the groups behind the recall effort‚ formed its committee in July‚ just seven months into Price's term. Price ran her election on the promise to radically reform the county's justice system and reduce mass incarceration. She also vowed to end the death penalty‚ reduce gun violence‚ and prevent children from being charged as adults.Multiple veteran prosecutors resigned under Price's leadership. One former Oakland prosecutor claimed the DA's lenient policies prevented her from fulfilling her "legal and ethical duties."Even the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People's Oakland branch spoke out against Price last summer‚ accusing her of creating a crime "doom-loop" through her "progressive policies and failed leadership." The Oakland NAACP called for a state of emergency over the area's rampant crime crisis.William Fitzgerald‚ a spokesperson for the Protect the Win campaign for Price‚ stated that Price would win a recall election."Any courthouse‚ you will see deputies of her office are locking people up and making sure they are accountable for what happened‚" Fitzgerald said. "The reality is‚ crime didn't start when DA Price took office‚ and it is also going to exist long beyond her time here.""She was elected with 53% of the vote over a year ago despite being hugely outspent by the establishment‚" he continued. "The truth is‚ the establishment lost. They're annoyed and they dumped over $2 million on a campaign to oust her."According to Fitzgerald‚ the recall attempt against Price is financially backed by "wealthy real estate and venture capitalists" who aim to "undermine democracy."Protect the Win representatives sent a letter last week to California Attorney General Rob Bonta‚ urging him to investigate "reports of widespread fraud" by signature gatherers who allegedly misled residents into signing the petition to recall Price‚ the San Francisco Chronicle reported. The recall campaign denied the allegations. It is unclear whether an investigation by the state will be launched.Price has previously claimed that her position as DA "has really no impact on crime" and called her critics "election deniers."Many businesses in the Oakland area have recently decided to close up shop due to crime. Denny's announced last month that it would close its only Oakland location after 54 years in business. In-N-Out‚ Black Bear Diner‚ Subway‚ and Starbucks have also announced closures.Like Blaze News? 'I can't catch a break': DC charged victims of allegedly violent carjacking $2‚000 to get car out of impound

A Washington‚ D.C.‚ family who already endured an allegedly violent carjacking was victimized again after the city charged them thousands of dollars to get their stolen vehicle out of impound.According to a report from WJLA‚ the trouble began back in November after the husband of Michelle Terrell worked a long shift as a driver for a food delivery service. When he returned to the couple's residence in northwest D.C. and attempted to park his car outside‚ he was carjacked at gunpoint‚ Terrell told the outlet.Police recovered the stolen vehicle about two months later‚ and the Department of Public Works apprised the couple of the news via letter. Unfortunately‚ the letter was sent to an old address‚ and Mrs. Terrell received the letter by happenstance sometime in February when she visited her former home to look for tax forms."If I didn't go there to check the mail and just to make sure to see if I had any W-2s [or] 1099s‚ I would never have even received the letter‚" she claimed.Terrell then went to the impound lot to retrieve her family's stolen SUV. Even though she could see her car from the sidewalk‚ she still couldn't drive it home after she learned that the city charged her more than $2‚000 to cover the cost of towing and storage. To make matters worse‚ the thieves had also accrued at least one ticket on the city's traffic cameras — a ticket that was ultimately assessed against Terrell's family."I can't catch a break‚ but this time around I'm just determined to not give up‚" she said. Terrell reached out to the city‚ which eventually agreed to reduce some of the charges. WJLA likewise reached out to the D.C. Department of Motor Vehicles‚ which hinted that Terrell and her husband may actually be to blame for some of the hefty fines. "The DC Department of Motor Vehicles communicates with customers based on the last known address we have on file‚" its statement said‚ according to the outlet. "We advise customers to update their contact information with the agency as soon as possible whenever they change addresses."When the family moved and whether they promptly updated their contact information with the city is unclear. Still‚ a DMV representative claimed that the agency would take a second look at Terrell's case. For now‚ Michelle Terrell's car remains locked in the impound lot‚ and she suggests that all vehicle theft victims contact the DMV immediately after filing a police report. "I just pray that no one else becomes a victim for the second time around because that's what's happening in my situation."Like Blaze News? Memphis mayor asks gangs for ceasefire amid 'epidemic of car break-ins' that gang members say they commit out of boredom

The mayor of Memphis‚ Tennessee‚ met with local gang leaders and asked them to agree to a seven-day ceasefire‚ as crime has seemingly spiraled out of control in the city. The mayor said that he had talks‚ not "negotiations‚" with Memphis gang leaders‚ with community representatives adding that the number of gangs in the city has also become a problem in itself."We've progressively seen new gangs formalize‚" said community leader K. Durell Cowan‚ founder of Heal 901‚ a Memphis nonprofit. "This is not the traditional area where you have four of five gangs ... we have hybrid gangs."Memphis had a record 398 homicides in 2023‚ which is more than double what the city had five years prior. CNN reported that there had already been more than 600 major violent crimes in the first two months of 2024‚ with at least 40 homicides.Memphis has also reached a 17-year high in crime‚ the Justice Department announced."Our city has had a big issue around crime over the last couple of years. ... We need to take it to the streets‚ we need to talk to the people that are actually engaged in the activity‚" Mayor Paul Young said about his talks with the gang leaders."What came out of the conversation is that they want to be a part of it. Since I had that dialogue ... there have been others that have reached out to me."Youth crime was a particular focus for the mayor as he spoke to community leaders‚ with those between the ages of 16 and 24 highlighted as a group with more than 45‚000 individuals either not working or not in school. Nearly 50% of those in the same age group live in poverty‚ according to statistics from a nonprofit called the Collective Blueprint. The same nonprofit said that by the time those young adults turn 28‚ only 1% would be on the path toward earning a living wage. However‚ the rate of arrests for violent crimes decreases by 45% for youth who have jobs or internships‚ according to Action News 5.CNN's Victor Blackwell said that through speaking to various gang members in his career‚ he's learned they do not wish to become criminals."They're not aspiring to criminal activity‚ what they want is to belong‚" he told the mayor. While the mayor described a lot of the gang leaders' requests as "heartfelt‚" he insisted it was just a conversation and not a negotiation. The gang members told the mayor a recent "epidemic of car break-ins" was simply due to their younger gang members being bored and having nothing to do.Including the break-ins‚ more than 3‚500 property crimes were reported in January 2024 alone‚ according to police statistics."The things that our community needs aren't new‚ it's just something we have to lean into‚" the mayor said regarding the need for mentorship.Young admitted‚ however‚ that there were some criminals who need to be taken "through the criminal justice system‚" but there are many others who he believes can be saved.Like Blaze News?
