A woman hit on a gay man in a parking lot and the misunderstanding is so heartwarming

Usually, when you read a story about people being confronted in a grocery store parking lot, it's bad news. But not this time. Back in November of 2023, Portland, Oregon-based photographer David Frazier had an uplifting experience in the parking lot of a New Seasons market after being approached by a female admirer. He later told the story on TikTok in a video that received over 3.4 million views. While making a quick run to the store, Frazier parked next to a woman driving a Tesla. He noticed she was eating, hanging around and “vibing,” so he flashed her a smile and went into the store, where he picked up a bite to eat.Upon returning to his car, the woman was still there. She rolled down her window and asked Frazier, “Hey, are you single?” Frazier was taken aback by the question and replied: “Sadly, yes, I am. Um, also very gay, though.” @wowrealneat Dear New Seasons Parking Lot Girl, you’re so cool and ily ❤️ #fyp #portland #parkinglot #xoxo He told the woman he was flattered and that asking never hurts. "You're just so handsome," she replied. Frazier returned the compliment, calling her "pretty," and the two shared a laugh and went their separate ways. But the interaction stuck with Frazier. He thought it took real "guts" to tell a stranger you think they're attractive. He also felt that it was "kind" and "flattering" for her to compliment him. "She seemed like such a genuine and kind and earnest" and "cool" person, he said in the video. He hoped the TikTok video he made would eventually reach her somehow. “You have uplifted me in a way that I didn’t know I needed, and it made me feel amazing, and I just wanted to say thank you and I hope you have such an incredible weekend,” Frazier told the woman through his post.He also invited her to get a “friend coffee.”Five weeks after Frazier posted the video, it successfully reached its intended audience of one. It was seen by Tifanie Mayberry, the woman driving the Tesla. She shared a reaction video where she watched Frazier’s original post. The video received over 11 million views. @tifaniemayberry #duet with @David #fyp WOW!! Never expected for this to come back around like this. OMG. The internet is internetting and I LOVE it!! Mayberry followed the reaction video up with another, explaining that her behavior in the parking lot that day was a perfect example of where she is in life. She’s 35, single and ready to settle down and have kids. If that means she has to be a little forward in approaching men, so be it."So what you're witnessing is me just being like no BS and being 'like okay if I see me a good one, I just like to lasso them, and reel 'em in’ and be like 'Hey, I'm interested,' and that's just kind of where I am in life. And apparently, this one got back to me in a very unexpected way,” she said.Mayberry added that she has yet to speak with Frazier but is looking forward to meeting him. She hopes that one day he’ll even make it to her wedding. @tifaniemayberry Well its been a very funny ending to 2023, and I have to say it ended things on such a great note for me ?❤️✨ Thanks TikTok!! @David - Coffee in the New Year?! Mom reacts perfectly to daughter who disinvited a friend from a trip because of her weight

A 42-year-old mother wondered whether she did the right thing by disciplining her 18-year-old daughter, Abby, who disinvited a friend from vacation because of her weight. The mother asked people on Reddit for their opinion. For some background, Abby had struggled with her weight for many years, so she went to her mother for help. The two set up a program where Abby was given a reward for every milestone she achieved.“Four months ago, she asked that I don't get her any more rewards and add it up to her birthday gift, and for her gift she wants a vacation I will pay for, for her and her friends instead of the huge party I had promised for her 18th. I said OK,” the mother wrote. So, instead of a series of small gifts, Abbey wanted one large one, a vacation with two of her friends. The vacation would also celebrate Abby’s 18th birthday. The mother agreed and booked the trip for the 3 girls.“Fast forward to last weekend, we started preparing for her vacation,” the mother wrote. “I called the other two girls' parents to confirm the girls would be and learned Abby's best friend Betty isn't going. Betty loves traveling and was looking forward to the vacation, so I asked why. Apparently, Abby uninvited her because ‘she is too chubby to look good in pictures.’”When the mother approached Abby about the situation, she doubled down on her comments to Betty. “I calmly talked to Abby and reminded her how Betty would feel being left out for such a reason, and she went off with, 'I didn't work so hard for this vacation so my pictures will be ruined,'" the mother wrote.Abby then asked Betty to contact her mom and say that she decided not to go on the trip because she wasn’t feeling well. Betty refused to lie, and Abby sent her a “ton of hateful texts and body-shaming insults.” Betty shared screenshots of the texts to the mother, and she promptly canceled the entire vacation. Now, Abby’s father, who shares 50-50 custody with the mother, is livid, and Abby won’t speak to the mother. The mom asked the Reddit AITA forum to see if she was in the wrong, and the commenters overwhelmingly said she did the right thing. "Some of my friends agree on my approach, while others think I should have put my daughter first,” the mother said. The most popular commenter was short and to the point. "Teaching your daughter to not be a horrible human being IS putting her first," Due_Laugh_3851 wrote. "I commend your strength and parenting skills. This was the right thing to do and would've been hard to do. Well done, you deserve to go on the holiday yourself," Loud_Wallaby737 added. "... uninviting someone because you only want skinny people in your pictures is a disgusting attitude frankly. Sorry, I just don't find a nicer word for it. I am totally with you that this needs to have consequences, and while I'm very much against breaking promises, I do believe this is an exception. Like you said, your daughter knows what it feels like. She (but anyone really) should be supportive of friends wanting to lose weight if that is the case and if it isn't they she should just mind her own business body," SensitiveSires wrote. One of the few people who thought she was in the wrong believed that the mother set her daughter up for failure."[You're wrong] for giving your daughter who is a child rewards for weight loss. Her behavior of value based on weight shows she likely has developed disordered eating patterns and attitudes and this will cause her a lifetime of pain," tamtheprogram wrote. The silver lining to the story is that many people who commented said that even though her daughter did something very hurtful, she’s still a teenager and there’s a chance she’ll realize the error of her ways."The daughter is just a teenager, she still has a lot of time to learn and grow up. Writing off her entire future as a mean girl when it’s very rare to be the same exact person you were at 18 as you grow up is a lot," Stephapeaz wrote. This article originally appeared on 9.18.23

The last surviving witness to Lincoln’s assassination lived long enough to share his story on TV

Samuel J. Seymour was one of the approximately 1,700 people at Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C., on April 14, 1865, the night President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth. He was also the last to live long enough to talk about that historic night on television.Seymour was 5 years old when he went to see the play “Our American Cousin” with his nurse, Sarah Cook, and Mrs. Goldsboro, the wife of his father's employer. When Booth shot Lincoln, he pulled the trigger during the biggest laugh of the night so that it wouldn’t be heard. What caught Seymour’s attention was when Booth fell from the balcony after a scuffle with Henry Reed Rathbone.Chaos erupted in the theater and Seymour was ushered out by his nurse. While they fled he overheard people screaming, "Lincoln's shot! The President is dead!""I saw Lincoln slumped forward in his seat," the old man later recalled. "That night I was shot 50 times, at least, in my dreams—and I sometimes relive the horror of Lincoln's assassination, dozing in my rocker as an old codger like me is bound to do."Two months before Seymour’s death at the age of 95, he appeared on the game show “I've Got a Secret,” where panelists tried to guess his secret: “I saw John Wilkes Booth shoot Abraham Lincoln (April 14, 1865).”Seymour didn’t speak much during the show but he did make a historic understatement when panelist Jayne Meadows asked if his secret was “a pleasant thing,” to which Seymour replied, “Not very pleasant I don’t think. I was scared to death.”This article originally appeared on 2.3.23

It’s Illegal To Be Right Wing

It’s Illegal To Be Right Wing

The system torments and persecutes genuine right-wingers in a variety of ways It’s illegal to be right wing in large parts of the Western world today. Or it might as well be. No, there aren’t any laws making it a crime to be right wing—criminalising the belief, for example, that nations are more than just economic groupings whose output can and should be maximised by unrestricted immigration, or that patriotism, rooted in love of place, people and their shared history, is the highest value—but there might as well be. Conditions are now so prejudicial towards right-wing people, and even the most basic expressions of right-wing values and ideas, that for all intents and purposes being right wing really is illegal. We shouldn’t be naïve about the way the law or power works. If we’ve read our Aristotle and our John Stuart Mill, we should know that, yes, tyrants make bad laws, but they also rely on other less formal methods to get what they want. That includes selective enforcement of the law and also, significantly, the weight of public pressure. In the 21st century, there’s a whole array of institutions Aristotle could never have dreamed of, not least of all the mainstream media, that can be used to single out, shame and thoroughly ruin the lives of ordinary people at the behest of the tyrant. After all, the government didn’t have to make vaccination mandatory during the pandemic for vaccination to be mandatory. Instead they relied on fear, herd dynamics—the common aversion to sticking out from the crowd—and threats, including the threat of being unable to travel or visit loved ones, to make most people feel they had no choice whatsoever in the matter. Of course, people did have a choice, but the barrier to exercising a genuine choice was courage—and courage is a commodity that’s always in short supply.Save 40% on our limited edition Brain Force Ultra that’s loaded with proprietary super ingredients! Anyway, in support of my proposition that being right-wing is basically illegal, here are two examples. First, Germany. A video circulates of a group of wealthy party kids partying at a club on the wealthy party island of Sylt. They’re dancing and clowning around singing “Deutschland den Deutschen, Ausländer raus!” —“Germany for the Germans, foreigners out!”—to the tune of cheesy noughties Eurodans hit “L’amour Toujours” by Gigi D’Agostino. Whatever you think of the sentiment—pretty innocuous in right-wing terms, where a nation, as I say, is more than just an arbitrary economic grouping—it would have been hard to predict the firestorm that awaited these young revellers. The video has become a national scandal in Germany. “Respectable” newspapers like Bild swooped in, ruthlessly, to identify the partygoers, reveal their personal details—something German newspapers generally refuse to do, especially when crimes involve foreigners or leftists—and basically just ruin their lives. Some of the kids identified have already been fired or face expulsion from university. But it gets worse. Now German politicians are demanding the “maximum penalty” for these dangerous subversives. That makes it sound like they’re seeking the death penalty, and they surely would if it were available to them. Instead they’ll have to settle for a judicial stretch. The video has been condemned by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and SPD politician Bärbel Bas has described the chant as an “unconstitutional slogan.” The maximum sentence for “unconstitutional symbols,” by the way, is five years in prison. Five years in prison, for singing “Germany for the Germans, foreigners out!” Second example: England. Sam Melia, a young father, has recently been sent to prison for possession of stickers. The stickers were not illegal, a fact acknowledged by the prosecution and by the judge who presided over the case. The stickers stated basic truths about the speed of demographic change in the UK, and urged readers not to feel guilty about being patriotic or white. “Nationalism is nurture,” read one. “We will be a minority in our homeland.” “Diversity: designed to fail, built to replace.” And here’s a particularly chilling one: “Love your nation.” What was at issue in the case, rather than the slogans themselves, was Melia’s intent with the stickers. The prosecution claimed, and the judge agreed, that because Melia is right-wing—and therefore obviously a racist—his intent was to stir up racial hatred, so that’s what he was convicted for. Again, it gets worse. In the last week, Melia and his wife, Laura Towler, were told that prison authorities had deemed him a threat to his own children, and so Laura would no longer be able to bring him photographs of his two children, including his new daughter, who was born after he entered prison, nor would she even be able to speak to him about them. Sam was labelled a “Person Posing Risk to Children” (PPRC) because of his “racist posters, insignia and literature” and his “racist and offensive attitudes.” So a man in Britain can be a threat to his own children, on the order of a sex offender or rapist, simply for telling his fellow countrymen, “Love your nation.” It’s worth remembering that Britain is a country where pedophiles regularly walk free from court, and Asian grooming gangs abuse and rape British girls on an industrial scale, with impunity, simply for being white and British. As a Brit myself, I don’t really know what to say. I love my country, but I also hate it, as only a man in love can hate. Across Europe, left and right—or “right,” should I say—are united in persecuting ordinary patriotic men and women for loving their countries and abhorring the terrible chaos that has been unleashed upon them by their craven, self-serving elites. Germany’s ruling left-liberal coalition and Britain’s fake Conservatives are terrified of the emergence of a genuine popular right-wing movement that holds them accountable for their crimes and sweeps them from power into the dustbin of history. In Germany, that means the Alternative for Germany (AfD), which has become the single most popular party in the nation and, crucially, the most popular party among young people under 30. Now, perhaps, you see why that video of attractive young Germans harnessing rebellion and vitality to right-wing ideas elicited such a reaction from the sclerotic, dead-eyed functionaries who rule Germany. In Britain, a true right-wing movement is less well formed, for various reasons including the nature of the electoral system, but it’s of significance that Melia is or was a prominent member of the right-wing group Patriotic Alternative. Germany’s ruling government and the Conservative party both face electoral wipeout—the Tories in a matter of weeks—which will only make their attempts to suppress true opposition from the right even more desperate. And in Germany, at least, the government has openly flirted with the idea of actually making it illegal to be right wing, by banning the AfD altogether. They may yet do so, but for the moment, such openly anti-democratic measures are not needed. Is This Infowars’ Last Broadcast? Patriots Rally Behind Alex Jones and Crew
