A Pakistani migrant was arrested in New York City on Wednesday for allegedly trying to murder Jews by running them over with his car. The New York Post reported that police arrested 58-year-old Asghar Ali after he allegedly revved the engine of his car and then mounted a curb at a Yeshiva and drove after Jews while allegedly yelling, “I’m gonna kill all the Jews.” The anti-Semitic attack is now being investigated by the New York Police Department’s Hate Crimes Task Force, the report said, adding that police claim that no evidence exists to suggest that the incident was tied to terrorism. The report said that Ali faces more than a dozen criminal charges, including attempted murder, attempted assault, and hate crimes charges. Those that he allegedly targeted with his vehicle were able to run into a building before he reached them. Although no one was hurt during the incident, police said that there were five victims who were targeted, the report added. “I came in, and the boys were like ‘Did you see the cameras? Did you see the cameras?’” a rabbi at the Yeshiva told The Post. “I’m more scared for them. I’m much more scared than they are — their adrenaline is up.” Ali fled the scene but was later located by the Flatbush Shomrim Safety Patrol, which then notified the NYPD. This is not somebody that we want driving around the streets, especially with this anti-Semitic, anti-Jewish climate that’s out there. So we were glad to be able to put this to rest. U.S. District Court Judge Larry Hicks, who was appointed by President George W. Bush, was killed in a crash near the federal courthouse in Reno, Nevada, on Wednesday. He was 80 years old. Authorities said the judge was crossing the street near the courthouse where he worked around 2:15 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle, ABC affiliate KOLO 8 reported. Hicks was appointed by Bush in 2001 after serving as the Washoe County district attorney from 1974 to 1978 and then working in a private law practice from 1979 until his appointment to the federal judgeship in 2001. He assumed senior status as a district court judge in 2013. Hicks is also the father of Washoe County District Attorney Chris Hicks. “Today, our community lost an extraordinary man,” the Hicks family said in a statement, according to KOLO 8. “Judge Larry Hicks was a deeply admired, lawyer and judge, a devoted friend, mentor, and a committed servant to the administration of justice. To us, he was first and foremost, a man who put nothing before family. He was a hero in all manners, a loving husband of nearly 59 years, a doting dad, an adoring Papa, and brother. Former President Donald Trump is considering having Tesla CEO Elon Musk serve in an advisory role if Trump reclaims the White House, according to a new report. In March, Trump and Musk met at the estate of conservative billionaire investor Nelson Peltz along with other wealthy investors; Musk would reportedly advise Trump on issues such as border security and the economy, according to sources referenced by The Wall Street Journal. Musk and Peltz have also reportedly informed Trump about their intentions to fund a data-driven project to prevent voter fraud, and told him of a current influence campaign by Musk and others to convince business leaders to eschew support for President Biden’s re-election campaign. “Trump has told Musk, one of the world’s wealthiest people, he wants to find a way to get him more involved if he wins in November,” the Journal reported. Musk’s political sentiments have included slamming the “woke mind virus,” tweeting in December 2022, “The woke mind virus is either defeated or nothing else matters,” as well as tweeting in May 2022 that he would vote for the GOP, “In the past I voted Democrat, because they were (mostly) the kindness party.
