One Down! AstraZeneca Removed from the Entire Global Market

Earlier this year, during a court proceeding related to a class action lawsuit, AstraZeneca admitted that in “exceedingly rare” events, their COVID jab causes fatal blood clotting. They have now removed it from the entire global market as sales declined. They deny taking it off due to blood clotting. They asked the EU to cancel […] The post One Down! SSI Rule Change Looks Like a Costly Vote-Buying Scheme

A rule change in SSI (Supplemental Security Income), the welfare portion of Social Security, is possibly another shameless vote-buying scheme for Biden’s low-income and minority bloc with no regard for the unaffordability. It takes effect in September, right before the election. “The Social Security Administration is set to implement new rules to make it easier […] The post SSI Rule Change Looks Like a Costly Vote-Buying Scheme appeared first on www.independentsentinel.com.

Father Sentenced For Murder Of 5-Year-Old Daughter Harmony Montgomery

The father of 5-year-old Harmony Montgomery, who captured the nation’s attention when she went missing in December 2019, has been sentenced for murdering his daughter. Adam Montgomery, 34, was sentenced on Thursday to 56 years to life in prison, to run consecutively with his sentence of 33.5 to 60 years in prison for unrelated firearms charges, People Magazine reported. Montgomery was found guilty in February of second-degree murder, second-degree assault, witness tampering, falsifying evidence, and abuse of corpse. It took a jury less than a day to convict Montgomery of Harmony’s murder, even though her remains have never been found. Montgomery was in prison at the time of Harmony’s birth, so she lived with her mother, Crystal Sorey, until the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF) became involved when Harmony was just two months old. DCF placed Harmony in foster care, where she bounced back and forth between that and her mother’s care until February 2019, when her father and his wife, Kayla, were given custody. The couple lived in New Hampshire, and just five months after they gained custody of Harmony, the New Hampshire Department of Children, Youth, and Families (NHDCYF) received a report about abuse. Harmony had a black eye, and Montgomery admitted to hurting his daughter. Even with Montgomery’s admission, NHDCYF’s assessment of the situation determined the allegations of harm were unfounded in October 2019. On November 18, 2021, Sorey reached out to Manchester police to say she had not seen her daughter since a FaceTime call in April 2019, more than two and a half years earlier. On December 27, 2021, NHDCYF told the police they couldn’t find Harmony and police opened a search. Within days, Manchester police announced Harmony’s disappearance and that a search had commenced. In early January 2022, Montgomery was arrested after he was found to be living in his car with a girlfriend. He was charged with Harmony’s disappearance. His wife was also arrested and charged. At Montgomery’s trial, prosecutors alleged that he beat Harmony to death in December 2019 after she had a bathroom accident in his car, prosecutor Christopher Knowles said in his opening statements, according to CBS Boston. After killing his daughter, prosecutors alleged, Montgomery “pulled into that parking lot at Burger King and he ordered his food.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP “He ordered his food and he ate. He didn’t stop to check on Harmony,” Knowles added, according to the outlet. “He didn’t look back at her. He didn’t show any concern for this innocent little girl, the child he had just beaten. He ordered his food, and he ate. And he didn’t stop.” During the three months after Harmony’s death, Montgomery allegedly moved her body to different places and in different containers. His wife Kayla testified that at one point, Harmony’s body was in the trunk of a friend’s car, a cooler left in the hallway of her mom’s apartment building, the ceiling vent of a homeless shelter where she and Montgomery were living with her two kids, and a freezer in an apartment. Kayla also said the remains were held in a tote bag from a hospital maternity ward that she placed in a stroller between her own two kids to bring to Montgomery’s place of work, CBS reported. At another time, People magazine reported that Harmony’s body was apparently kept in a closet until neighbors complained about the smell. It is believed that in March 2020, Montgomery disposed of Harmony’s body using a rented U-Haul. Montgomery claimed at trial that it was Kayla who killed Harmony and tried to frame him, but jurors didn’t buy it. Kayla pleaded guilty to charges of lying to police to obstruct their murder investigation. She is serving an 18-month sentence as part of her plea deal.

Virginia School District Restores Names Of Confederate Generals To Public Schools

Virginia School District Restores Names Of Confederate Generals To Public Schools

A Virginia school district became the first in the United States to restore the school names associated with the Confederacy after they had been changed. In 2020, the Shenandoah County School Board voted to change the names of Stonewall Jackson High School and Ashby-Lee Elementary School to Mountain View High School and Honey Run Elementary School. However, local residents felt that the board had voted to change the names without consulting the public. On May 9, the board held a public hearing to discuss changing the names back, and in a 5-1 vote, approved changing the names back to their original names. The board members in favor of restoring the previous names contended that the 2020 school board had taken shortcuts in order to achieve their goal. “This was not an innocent mistake by some inexperienced school board,” District 2 School Board member Gloria Carlineo said, as reported by WHSV. “No, this was a carefully choreographed advance of a school board alluding to ignore the people they represented.” “People in the Shenandoah Valley say that only the confederates are the ones who did nasty things, or did nasty things to black people,” school board chairman Dennis Barlow, school board chair stated.“You just stopped reading your history, and you’re not being realistic. War’s hell.” “I’m fed up on people lying about how our schools were named,” one resident who supported changing the names back said. “I think it’s really rich that people lecture me about morality but excuse the actions of the 2020 school board.” Kyle Gutshall, the only dissenting vote declared, “We’ve talked about the right way, the wrong way to do it. The right thing to do, the wrong thing to do. Things like this really come down to perspective and how you view things.” “If you vote to restore the name ‘Stonewall Jackson’ in 2024, you will be resurrecting an act in 1959 that is forever rooted in mass resistance and Jim Crow segregation,” another resident argued. Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson is considered one of the greatest generals in the American Civil War. A devout Presbyterian, before the war he organized Sunday schools for blacks at his church. He was inadvertently shot by one of his own troops in 1863, had his left arm amputated as a result, and died eight days later. “Jackson neither apologized for nor spoke in favor of the practice of slavery. He probably opposed the institution. Yet in his mind the Creator had sanctioned slavery, and man had no moral right to challenge its existence. The good Christian slaveholder was one who treated his servants fairly and humanely at all times,” historian James Robertson wrote in Stonewall Jackson: The Man, the Soldier, the Legend. Ashby-Lee is a reference to General Robert E. Lee, the leader of the Confederate army, and Turner Ashby, a Confederate cavalry officer who served under Jackson and was killed in 1862. Lee, who was initially offered the rank of Major General in the Union army that was to fight the Confederacy, at first opposed the secession of the Southern States. His loyalty to Virginia overrode that sentiment; he stated, “I shall never bear arms against the Union, but it may be necessary for me to carry a musket in the defense of my native state, Virginia, in which case I shall not prove recreant to my duty.”

Biden Admin Sues Iowa Over Immigration Law Allowing State To Arrest And Deport Illegal Immigrants

The Biden administration filed a lawsuit against Iowa on Thursday over a law that allows state authorities to arrest and deport immigrants in Iowa who have previously been deported or denied entry into the country. The suit, filed by the Justice Department in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Iowa, says that the law violates the Constitution and asks that Iowa be blocked from enforcing the law. Governor Kim Reynolds (R) signed the measure into law last month, saying it was necessary because the Biden administration had failed to secure the border.  “Iowa cannot disregard the U.S. Constitution and settled Supreme Court precedent,” said Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Brian M. Boynton. “We have brought this action to ensure that Iowa adheres to the framework adopted by Congress and the Constitution for regulation of immigration.”    Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird has promised to defend the law.  “When Biden fails to do his job and secure our border, States have to take matters into their own hands. Iowa’s law is not unique; it simply enforces immigration laws while Biden refuses to,” she said in a statement. “Iowa stands ready to defend our immigration law that keeps Iowa communities safe.” The measure, SF 2340, creates a penalty for “illegal reentry,” and illegal immigrants who break the law could face up to two years in prison and deportation. It is set to go into effect on July 1.  Under the new state law, an immigrant could be guilty of a Class C felony and face up to 10 years in prison for illegally entering the country if he/she was arrested for committing another felony. The law also requires Iowa judges to submit an order for a person convicted of illegally entering the U.S. to be returned to their home country. CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP “But Iowa cannot create its own immigration system. Its efforts, through SF 2340, intrude on the federal government’s exclusive authority to regulate the entry and removal of noncitizens, frustrate the United States’ immigration operations, and interfere with U.S. foreign relations,” the DOJ argues in its lawsuit.  Other states, like Texas and Oklahoma, have passed similar laws cracking down on illegal immigration. Texas’s law has been tied up in the courts and has yet to go into effect while Oklahoma enacted a state law creating penalties for illegal immigration earlier this month. The DOJ’s suit against Iowa is the latest filed against a state attempting to crack down on illegal immigration.

Huge Geomagnetic Storm From Sun Could Hit Earth Tonight, Power Grids Threatened, Northern Lights May Be Visible

For the first time since January 2005, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has issued a warning for a harsh geomagnetic storm that could hit the Earth on Friday night. The warning about the Sever G4 Geomagnetic Storm came after Wednesday’s series of solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs) from the sun. CMEs can cause geomagnetic storms when directed toward the Earth; five of the solar flares appeared to be directed toward the Earth. “Additional solar eruptions could cause geomagnetic storm conditions to persist through the weekend,” NOAA warned, adding, “Geomagnetic storms can impact infrastructure in near-Earth orbit and on Earth’s surface, potentially disrupting communications, the electric power grid, navigation, radio and satellite operations.” On the other hand, geomagnetic storms can also “trigger spectacular displays of aurora on Earth. A severe geomagnetic storm includes the potential for aurora to be seen as far south as Alabama and Northern California,” NOAA noted. “During a coronal mass ejection, the sun expels billions of tons of material, some of which travel toward our planet,” NBC News explained. “The Earth’s magnetic field deflects most of the sun’s particles, but some enter at the poles, where interactions with our atmosphere create the aurora borealis.” The sun changes from minimum to maximum activity every 11 years; the latest cycle started in 2019 and should peak in July 2025. The Space Weather Prediction Center has an aurora dashboard that forecasts the northern lights. Shawn Dahl, service coordinator at the Space Weather Prediction Center, said officials are expecting a “big shock arrival” when the CMEs hit Earth. “We’re really buckling down here,” Brent Gordon, chief of the space weather services branch, added, according to CBS News. At roughly 8 p.m. ET on Friday, when the CMEs are roughly one million miles away, scientists will have a better idea of how strong the geomagnetic storm is. “When we see those arrive, that’s when we’ll know the intensity,” Dahl stated.

Indigenous Artist Celebrates Her Jewelry Being Showcased At The Met Gala

Although there are several important events in the world of fashion, few are as high-profile as the Met Gala. In addition to being a fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, it’s also an opportunity to highlight unique and extravagant fashion. But actor, model, and activist Quannah Chasinghorse wanted to do much more. As an Indigenous celebrity, she wanted to showcase art that comes from her culture. This is how Indigenous artist Heather Dickson found herself tasked with creating jewelry to be worn at the Met Gala. She and Quannah had never met before, but the actor loved her work. So, in less than a week, this talented artist pulled out all the stops to adorn Quannah’s outfit with the most beautiful jewelry. This includes a beaded belt, earrings, and several hair pieces. @cbcindigenous Model Quannah Chasinghorse wore a Tlingit artist's jewellery at the Met Gala. Heather Dickson @Heather RL Dickson from the Carcross/Tagish First Nation and Nuxalk Nation is the beader behind this intricate work. She got all the accessories – including a beaded belt – done and shipped out from Whitehorse in a week with the help of fellow jeweller Melanie Parsons. Quannah's look was inspired by the forget-me-not flower. #IndigenousTikTok #MetGala #Fashion ♬ original sound – CBC Indigenous In order to get all of the pieces done, Heather would wake up at 6 a.m. so she could sew all the way until midnight. These tireless days couldn’t have been easy, but she explains that she was “just so excited” that she was always “up and ready to go.” A huge reason Heather was so excited about this opportunity has to do with the chance to show off Indigenous designs. Indigenous Star Wears Gorgeous Art at the Met Gala to Represent Her Native American Culture “I feel like Native art isn’t always seen as fine art or something that would fit in those spaces,” Heather explains. “So it was really beautiful to see Quannah bring us with her.” Fans of the Met Gala can’t stop raving over Quannah’s gorgeous look. This, of course, includes the jewelry Heather made with love. “This is amazing!” one person shares. “As a momma of a Tlingit daughter who is starting her beading journey this makes me so proud.” “That’s crazy you did that beautiful work in a short window!” another shares. “But wow your talent speaks volumes!” You can find the source of this story’s featured image here!
