Democratic state senator doesn't get her way‚ so she threatens riots: 'Gloves out'

Democratic politicians frequently concern-monger about supposed threats to democracy. However‚ when democratic processes produce results they don't like‚ they're often the first to make threats or champion violence. Tennessee state Sen. Charlane Oliver (D) recently expressed outrage over the passage of a bill that would prevent local officials from introducing policies or ordinances that limit the ability of police to properly fulfill their duties. Since voters elected not to empower a sufficient number of lawmakers with Oliver's leftist worldview to kill the bill‚ the cofounder of the identitarian activist group Equity Alliance suggested an alternative means of getting her way. "Yeah‚ we gonna fight‚" said Oliver. "Dr. King said that the riots are the language of the unheard. You ain't see nothing yet. If you keep silencing us like this‚ what you think our district's gonna do?" "We have had it up here‚" added Oliver. "Gloves out." Background Facing pressure from activists over the fatal beating of Tyre Nichols by five black police officers last year‚ Memphis City Council passed an ordinance in April 2023 preventing police from conducting pretextual traffic stops. Councilwoman Michalyn Easter-Thomas‚ the sponsor of the traffic-stop ordinance‚ suggested the idea was to limit interactions between the police and the public‚ and to have officers focus on serious crimes‚ not "poverty crimes‚" reported the Memphis Commercial Appeal. Republicans and community members recognized that the ordinance might ultimately make things a whole lot worse in the country's most dangerous city. State Sen. Brent Taylor filed a bill in January that would effectively override the Memphis ordinance by barring "a local governmental entity or official from adopting or enacting a resolution‚ ordinance‚ or policy that prohibits or limits the ability of a law enforcement agency to conduct traffic stops based on observation of or reasonable suspicion that the operator or a passenger in a vehicle has violated a local ordinance of state or federal law." "Crime is on the rise across the country‚" said Taylor. "Violent crime has reached a crisis level in Memphis. Police officers and sheriffs need to have more tools available to combat rising crime‚ not fewer. This proposed law will prohibit cities and counties from restricting routine traffic stops and other crime-fighting tactics." The Republican state senator further noted in a Jan. 31 statement‚ "Routine traffic stops have resulted in major arrests and the apprehension of violent criminals for years. Whether it's the random drug trafficker pulled over for running a stop sign or the most well-known case — Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh — routine traffic stops are a proven means of catching violent offenders‚ drug traffickers‚ and other dangerous criminals." Taylor elsewhere indicated that it was clear to him that community members were growing "tired of crime and bad policies that don't allow police to do their jobs." Democratic lawmakers denounced the legislation. Sen. Jeff Yarbro (D) suggested that the legislature was "spitting" on the efforts by local leftists to seize upon Nichols' death as an opportunity to limit policing powers. State Sen. London Lamar (D) said Thursday‚ "I pleaded with the sponsor to not run this bill because it's a slap on the face‚ not only our city councils‚ but all the local governing bodies in this state because we're telling them‚ 'You are not smart enough to decide policies that help govern your own city.'" Memphis has a 0-rating on Neighborhood Scout's crime index where 100 is safest. The likelihoods of falling victim to a violent crime and a property crime in the Democrat-run city are 1 in 41 and 1 in 14‚ respectively. Despite Democratic opposition‚ the state House approved HB 1931 in a 68 to 24 vote on March 7. The state Senate passed Sen. Brent Taylor's corresponding SB 2572 Thursday in a 26 to 6 vote along partisan lines. Upon the bill's passage in the Senate‚ Taylor tweeted‚ "It's time to take handcuffs off police and put them on criminals where they belong." The bill is headed to Republican Gov. Bill Lee's desk for ratification. Democratic rage Democrats and other leftists characterized the bill as both racist and government overreach. State Sen. Lamar likened Republicans' attempts to execute the will of voters to slavery at a press conference. "What we see here is drunk on power. 'I don't like that you take this position on this bill so I'm [going to] silence you.' That's a form of slavery‚" shouted Lamar. "I feel like a slave sometimes in this building. I'm over it. And all the members standing here are over it." "I am tired of the Republican Party expecting us as minorities to do what they want to do but treat us disrespectfully‚" continued Lamar. "Nah‚ we're not doing that no more. ... We're at the time of the session where gloves [are] off." — (@) State Sen. Charlane Oliver went further than Lamar in her embrace of pugilistic rhetoric. "It is a slap in the face and you might as well stomp on the grave of Tyre Nichols for bringing this bill‚" said Oliver. "Yes‚ we are emotionally charged. Why? Because it's personal for us. Tyler made this personal the minute he introduced this legislation to target one family and one life that was lost. So yeah‚ we gonna fight." After invoking Martin Luther King Jr. in an apparent effort to legitimize rioting‚ Oliver added‚ "We gonna fight like hell. You don't expect us to respond when you gaslight us every single day with these bills?" "Don't tell me this stuff ain't racist‚" continued Oliver. "Don't tell me it's not. It is rooted in racism. This was a Jim Crow bill that Taylor brought and all of his confederates voted for it today." Taylor responded to Oliver's suggestion of reactionary riots‚ writing‚ "Despite [voters] overwhelming support for my bill that prohibits local governments from banning legal routine traffic stops‚ leftist opposition has been insane and totally out of touch with reality and our community's demands." — (@) Leftist activist groups such as the anti-prison outfit Decarcerate Memphis are hoping to pressure Gov. Lee to veto SB 2752‚ threatening "no justice‚ no peace." Nichols parents have also asked to meet with Lee before he signs the bill in hopes that they might dissuade him. Like Blaze News? 'It's on the city': 2 people found dead in Denver hotel being used as a homeless shelter

Two people in Denver were found dead at a former hotel that the city is using as a homeless shelter. The discovery was made Saturday night‚ according to Fox News Digital. The Denver Police Department reported that the victims — one man and one woman — were found around 9:20 p.m. in a residential room in what used to be the Double Tree Hotel. It is unclear whether the victims were residents‚ and the authorities have not yet released the cause of death. The authorities posted to X following the discovery‚ writing: "ALERT: #DPD is investigating a homicide at 4040 N. Quebec St. Two victims located‚ an adult male and female. No arrests at this time. Investigation is ongoing‚ officers are working to develop suspect information. #Denver Updates will be posted as they are made available." — (@) The report mentioned that a nonprofit group that provides affordable housing obtained the 300-room building in November. Though the building is still considered a hotel‚ the city is leasing the property as part of Mayor Mike Johnston's House1000 initiative‚ according to KDVR.KDVR spoke with people who have recently been in the area. Byron Bell‚ who was staying at a hotel nearby‚ said: “We got here around 11‚ after the powwow‚ and it was like five‚ six cops."“There’s been the fire department there the past two nights before that‚ so it’s always something‚" he continued.Others who have recently visited the area have questioned what the city is doing to keep people residents safe.Leon Mickling‚ who was also staying at a hotel nearby‚ said that there is always something going on at the shelter‚ saying: “It’s all on the city. The city put up the money to house the people; the city needs to put up the money to make sure everyone is safe." — (@) No arrests have been made in the incident‚ and it is unclear whether the authorities have identified any suspects. KDVR reported that Johnston is aware of the situation and is currently working with the authorities to gather more information about the incident.Investigators said they do not believe there is a threat to the community following the incident. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at (720) 913-7867. Like Blaze News? What was Laken Riley’s life worth‚ anyway?

What was Laken Riley’s life worth‚ anyway?

In a timely column‚ Betsy McCaughey asks the provocative question‚ “Is Laken Riley’s life worth less than George Floyd’s?” The same question could have been asked about Kaylan Hamilton‚ who was raped‚ strangled‚ and then robbed of $6 in 2022 by an “undocumented” resident of Maryland. At the time‚ Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas warned about the danger of “politicizing” Hamilton’s death. After Riley’s killing by another violent illegal alien‚ the Democratic mayor of Athens‚ Georgia‚ cautioned against thinking her brutal murder was in any way related to his running a sanctuary city.Jose Antonio Ibarra’s (alleged) vicious act was supposedly an isolated occurrence produced by a person the media presented initially as a local vagrant. After Riley’s death‚ the major issue for much of the media was whether Joe Biden should be allowed to belittle the murderer by characterizing him as “illegal” rather than “undocumented.” Apparently‚ it is the height of bigotry or insensitivity to hurt the feelings of intruders who commit multiple crimes‚ including a brutal killing‚ after they invade our country. In no way are illegal aliens or leftist demonstrators to be shown in a bad light. They are helping the left gain more influence and control. For our corporate media‚ the deep state‚ the Democratic Party‚ and the international anti-racist‚ anti-fascist left‚ the death of career criminal George Floyd was worth vastly more than the relatively inconsequential slaying of young women by government-protected illegal immigrants. Unlike those forgettable killings committed by Biden fans‚ Floyd’s death had astronomic value for the American left. That fortunate occurrence unleashed pandemonium on an international scale‚ from Minneapolis‚ Minnesota‚ to Sydney‚ Australia. Moreover‚ in the United States those riots and killings following Floyd’s death were traced back‚ however circuitously‚ to Donald Trump. Were it not for the 45th president’s “avoidance” of the “nationwide discussion” about racism in America‚ none of these riots would have occurred. Trump and his followers had played down the racist poison that was responsible for the decision of Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin to press down on Floyd’s neck.Never mind such extraneous details as the facts that Floyd was full of drugs at the time of his death and that he had resisted arrest after having been suspected (with some justification) of criminal activity. Floyd’s death served a far-reaching political purpose. It allowed leftist activists to riot in the name of “anti-racism” and to protest “police brutality.” These riots were widely depicted as a long overdue reaction to Trump and his racist rule. Although prominent Democrats bailed out the violent protestors whose savagery Kamala Harris bubblingly excused‚ the media exonerated those multiple enablers. The most frightening aspect of the riots was their scope and organization. Most of them looked as if they involved full-time leftist activists who were adept at holding riotous demonstrations and who were networking with similar-minded activists across the globe.Nothing led me to believe that we were dealing with gaggles of idealistic kids who were just expressing their unhappiness with our unsolved racial problems. We were encountering again and again professional rioters‚ who went from place to place venting violence on “the right.” The “right” in question included such unlikely representatives as slain black policemen and the Korean owners of gutted mom-and-pop convenience stores. Such outrages benefit the left. These actions have allowed Democrats and their allies to intimidate their opposition‚ who cannot match their brazenness or resources. By blaming riots on white bigots‚ moreover‚ the left has also created a moral argument in favor of expanded immigration. It seems that such openness to diverse populations will make us better people who will be unlikely to repeat the racist behavior of Derek Chauvin or Donald Trump. In no way‚ however‚ are illegal aliens or leftist demonstrators to be shown in a bad light. Both those groups are helping the left gain more influence and control.Democrats in Congress insist that the millions of people pouring across our borders must count toward determining congressional representation. Meanwhile‚ efforts are underway to enfranchise these future Democrats‚ first by permitting them to vote in local elections. We needn’t ask whether these “undocumented” residents‚ including their criminal elements‚ have more value for our ruling class than those they rape and kill. Only a visitor from outer space wouldn’t know the answer. We should also expect the Democrats and their media allies abroad to play down what happened to that 15-year-old disabled girl who was raped last week in Rockland‚ Massachusetts. The assailant was Cory Alvarez‚ a violent young man who is only one of 150‚000 migrants from Haiti and Cuba‚ people Biden and Mayorkas have welcomed into our midst. Alvarez‚ once paroled‚ may still be of use to his sponsors.Such lowlifes‚ not their victims‚ belong to those the Democrats are wooing. Biden and his advisors are certainly not concerned with protecting innocent lives or sparing us riots and criminal violence. Democratic politicians like them are driven entirely by the desire for power. From their perspective‚ it makes no difference what happens to Laken Riley or to others like her. They’re not part of whatever constituency the Democrats are now building.

'It just has to be done': NBA legend John Stockton sues Washington state over COVID censorship with RFK Jr. as his lawyer

Former NBA player and Hall of Fame member John Stockton has taken Washington state officials to court over COVID-19 policies that threatened to penalize doctors who went against "the mainstream Covid narrative."Stockton is joined in the lawsuit by doctors who faced sanctions from the state and names Washington Medical Commission Executive Director Kyle S. Karinen and Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson as defendants. Stockton's lawyers include Rick Jaffe‚ Todd S. Richardson‚ and presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr."The purpose of this lawsuit is to protect the right of physicians to speak‚ and the right of the public to hear their message‚" the lawsuit stated‚ according to USA Today. "The goal is to stop the Commission from investigating‚ prosecuting or sanctioning physicians who speak out in public against the so-called 'mainstream Covid narrative' i.e.‚ the succession of public health edicts put out by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and repeated by the primary news outlets‚ which has caused the public to lose trust in the public health authorities‚ which has caused the CDC to repeatedly apologize and promise to do better."Children’s Health Defense‚ a nonprofit started by RFK Jr.‚ is also reportedly listed as a plaintiff.Other plaintiffs included a retired ophthalmologist named Dr. Richard Eggleston who faced state sanctions after he wrote an article in the Lewiston Tribune questioning COVID policies and death tolls‚ which was reported by a reader‚ attorney Jaffe stated."The only thing we’re interested in is the First Amendment issue‚" Jaffe said. "Does the medical board have the constitutional authority to investigate‚ prosecute‚ and sanction doctors for writing articles‚ posting blogs on websites‚ and speaking out in public‚ even if the government or the medical board thinks what they’re saying is wrong or dangerous?""Most other states in the country don’t go as far as Washington. In my view‚ Washington is an outlier‚" he added‚ the Spokesman-Review reported.Stockton‚ who played college basketball at Gonzaga University in Spokane‚ Washington‚ said in the lawsuit that he was fighting for all Washingtonians who share his belief that "people have the First Amendment right to hear the public soapbox speech of Washington licensed physicians who disagree with the mainstream COVID narrative.""I think it just has to be done‚" Stockton told News Nation. "It's just another intrusion in Washington state on our right to freedom of speech." NBA legend John Stockton is part of a new lawsuit against Washington state officials who cracked down on COVID misinformation from doctors. Rick Jaffe‚ one of Stockton’s attorneys on the case‚ said it’s ultimately about free speech. | Morning in America
Source: NewsNation… — (@) The former point guard was suspended from attending games at Gonzaga in 2022 after he refused to wear a mask. "Basically‚ it came down to‚ they were asking me to wear a mask to the games‚ and being a public figure‚ someone a little bit more visible‚ I stuck out in the crowd a little bit. ... They received complaints and felt like from whatever the higher-ups ... they were going to have to either ask me to wear a mask or they were going to suspend my tickets‚" Stockton said at the time‚ the Salt Lake Tribune noted.Stockton endorsed RFK Jr. for president in late 2023‚ as well. The lawsuit asked for a declaration that the state's policy violated the First Amendment.Neither the Washington commission nor the attorney general's office responded to a request for comment.Like Blaze News? Boeing at the center of personnel scandals amid whistleblower's death: Stress‚ drug dealing‚ and a murder-suicide

Boeing whistleblower John Barnett was recently found dead in his truck with a gunshot wound to his head on the same day he was prepared to testify against the aircraft manufacturer. But this incident is not the only questionable incident to involve the aircraft company over the years.Leading up to Barnett's death‚ the company's stock decreased by 4%‚ representing a five-month low. The sudden descent comes after a series of quality malfunctions were discovered on the company's aircraft. A door plug blew off a 737 MAX 9 that was being operated on by Alaska Airlines on January 5. And a wheel fell off a 777 jet just a few weeks later‚ according to the New York Post.As a consequence‚ the Federal Aviation Administration launched an investigation into the company's "unacceptable" quality control issues. In 2008‚ Matthew Montgomery pleaded guilty to one count of destroying property under contract to the government after he cut around 70 electrical wires on a $24 million Chinook military helicopter. He said he did it because he was so frustrated about a job transfer. He was subsequently sentenced to five months in prison and five months under house arrest. Montgomery went on to say that the assembly-line job had finally gotten to him‚ adding‚ “I know now that a factory environment is not the place for me."In 2011‚ 23 Boeing employees were busted at a Pennsylvania plant for reportedly selling fentanyl and Oxycontin. Reports mentioned that the FBI and DEA discovered the illegal prescription drug distribution ring at the Ridley Park-based factory‚ which ultimately led to indictments against 23 people. DEA Acting Special Agent in Charge Vito Guarino said‚ "The defendants in this case are accused of diverting controlled substances and selling them to alleged abusers without any medical supervision."“These sales placed the individual abusers‚ as well as society at large‚ at risk. Part of DEA’s mission is to investigate the unlawful diversion of pharmaceutical controlled substances and bring those involved to justice‚ whether it is a doctor‚ pharmacist‚ or street distributor.”The Post reported that in 2022‚ Boeing failed to act after discovering that two of its employees who were involved in a love triangle with a supervisor resulted in one employee murdering his colleague. The estate of Isaiah Washington‚ 28‚ filed the Boeing negligence lawsuit after he was shot to death on the street by coworker Ralph O'Connor. O'Connor reportedly killed himself soon after the incident. However‚ in January 2024‚ Boeing attempted to get the case tossed after claiming that the employees were not on the clock when the incident occurred. The lawsuit claimed that both men were sexually involved with supervisor Rachel Pettit‚ ultimately leading to O'Connor making threats against Washington. Boeing was informed of the threats leading up to the incident‚ according to the lawsuit. However‚ the company claimed that "the complaint contains no allegations suggesting that Boeing knew or should have known that O’Connor might kill or harm someone other than himself.”The civil case has not yet been resolved‚ per reports. And now Barnett — who was in the process of testifying against the aircraft company — was recently found dead. However‚ Robert Turkewitz and Brian Knowles‚ Barnett's lawyers‚ are suspicious that the incident was caused by suicide. — (@) "John was a brave‚ honest man of the highest integrity‚" the lawyers said in a joint statement.“He cared dearly about his family‚ his friends‚ the Boeing company‚ his Boeing co-workers‚ and the pilots and people who flew on Boeing aircraft. We have rarely met someone with a more sincere and forthright character.”Sources familiar with the case told the Post that investigators have dusted Barnett's vehicle for fingerprints. This is a highly unusual move in suicide cases. Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!
