Sorry‚ That Viral Video Of Ants Circling Around A Speaker Playing AC/DC Is Fake

Another day‚ another blurring of the lines between reality and fiction. There's a decent chance you’re one of the millions of people who’s watched the viral video of ants marching around a speaker that’s blasting AC/DC in a "death spiral”.  We hate to break it to you‚ but the video is fake. The post (below) is the handiwork of video-editing TikToker Gabriel Benício. After sharing the original video this week – which racked up almost 12 million likes and over 90‚000 comments in a day – he posted another video explaining how he made the clip using slick video editing techniques. Don’t be dismayed if you were duped‚ many others thought it was real too (including myself‚ if I’m totally honest). “ITS NOT REAL?!‚” said one of the top comments on Gabriel's follow-up video.“I thought it was real ‚” another comment reads.“The fact that people didn’t see it wasn’t real makes me worry for the future‚” said another.              IFLScience is not responsible for content shared from external sites. It’s a convincing clip because some species of army ants do perform this strange behavior. An ant mill is a natural phenomenon that occurs when a group of ants run in a densely packed circle‚ continuously following one another in an endless loop. It’s also known as a death spiral or ant death circle as the insects can eventually die of exhaustion if the loop isn’t broken. Like most screw-ups‚ death spirals are essentially caused by a breakdown of communication. When army ants go out on a mission to forage and hunt for food‚ they communicate their movement patterns through pheromone trails. Each traveling ant leaves behind a trail of chemical signals that other ants follow. Under certain circumstances‚ however‚ the message of the pheromones can become lost. Instead of following one another toward a target‚ they simply follow the ants in front. Those ahead‚ however‚ are doing the same. Like a dog chasing its tail‚ they end up going nowhere but round and round in circles.              IFLScience is not responsible for content shared from external sites.Ant mills were first described by American naturalist William Beebe in the 1920s who observed a circling colony of ants that reportedly spanned 365 meters (1‚200 feet) in circumference. It’s not perfectly clear how the phenomenon occurs in natural settings‚ although scientists have been able to induce artificial death spirals in a lab. Rest assured‚ this won’t be the last time a viral sensation turns out to be computer-generated fakery. At least in this instance‚ the video's creator was transparent about the process and clearly showed how he produced the clip. Many similar instances have occurred in the past too. Lest we forget the ”baby platypus" that turned out to be a rock or the scandal of the two bees appearing to work together to open a soda bottle.

Woman shot a tramp and a poltergeist appeared in her house

Woman shot a tramp and a poltergeist appeared in her house

This strange story took place at the beginning of the twentieth century and was published in the Coshocton Daily Age newspaper in the town of Coshocton‚ Ohio‚ USA. It all started on September 7‚ 1906‚ about a year before the strange events. A local resident of Coshocton‚ known as Mrs. Finton‚ shot an unknown tramp with a shotgun who tried to attack her right on the territory of her home. The woman shot the man at point-blank range‚ but he had enough strength to run away and hide in the nearby forest. Later‚ Mrs. Finton’s neighbors tried to find him following the bloody trail and rushed to her aid‚ but the traces of the tramp were lost in the forest and the body was never discovered. People believed that the tramp eventually died and was lying somewhere in the forest‚ because he‚ apparently‚ had lost a lot of blood. Since then‚ strange things began to happen in Mrs. Finton’s house‚ most reminiscent of such a phenomenon as a poltergeist. First of all‚ stones began to fall on the roof of the house‚ and there were so many of them that it created the impression of “stone rain.” This happened at least three times and many people witnessed this phenomenon. It was said that pebbles “the size of biscuits” fell onto the roof of the Finton house from somewhere from a great height‚ as if from the sky. Sometimes pieces of earth and torn out turf fell along with them. In one case‚ a whole group of men gathered in the courtyard of a house saw many stones falling from the sky onto the roof‚ and they all agreed that it was not visible where the stones came from. At the same time‚ the stones flew with such great force that they bounced off the roof and fell into the yard‚ sometimes hitting people‚ but without causing them serious injuries. When the pebbles were collected and examined‚ they looked quite unusual and did not at all resemble local pebbles. People from all over the area were scared and very confused by these incidents. And finally someone remembered that all these strange things began shortly after Mrs. Finton shot the tramp. At the same time‚ the details of the incident with the tramp became clear. It turns out that an unknown homeless man entered the house without asking and began to rather brazenly ask Mrs. Finton to give him food. The woman ordered him away saying she would call her husband‚ who was in the house. In fact the husband was away at his work. The tramp went away and returned within half an hour and told the woman she had lied to him‚ that her husband was not there. Then he said he’d kill her‚ and hurled a heavy bit of iron at her‚ which he had picked up about the barn‚ and it struck the house. And she grabbed her husband’s shotgun and shot him. In general‚ the tramp got it right and the woman only defended herself. But was there really any connection between the angry tramp and the strange rain of stones that fell on the Finton house? Maybe the spirit of the tramp was trying to avenge his death in this way? Unfortunately‚ the continuation of this story was not written in the newspaper and it is unknown whether the stone rains stopped or continued for a long time. Scientists have discovered strange boulders on the Moon

Scientists have discovered strange boulders on the Moon

A group of scientists have discovered several strange‚ dust-covered boulders on the Moon. The region of Gamma Rainier‚ initially thought to be a crater‚ turned out to be a flat spot‚ sparkling brightly in the darkness of the vast lunar plain Oceanus Procellarum. The study was published in the Journal of Geophysical Research – Planets. Moon vortices like Rainier Gamma are thought to be formed by magnetized rocks that deflect particles from the solar wind. However‚ other theories suggest that they may have arisen from the interaction of magnetic anomalies and electrically charged dust particles kicked up by micrometeorites. White rocks with unusual black spots where dust indicates potential magnetic anomalies / LRO / NASA To better understand these interactions‚ scientists‚ led by planetary scientist Ottaviano Ruesch‚ studied millions of images of the Moon taken by NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter. They eventually discovered a boulder that was strangely reflecting light‚ prompting further investigation. “We recognized a boulder with characteristic dark areas in just one image‚” says Ruesch. “This stone was very different from all the others‚ scattering less light back towards the sun.” To identify such boulders‚ scientists used artificial intelligence‚ which sorted the strange boulders by size and reflectivity. The algorithm identified about 130‚000 possible options‚ half of which were carefully studied. Reiner Gamma Although some of the rocks were likely formed by impact with the crater‚ scientists suspect their strange properties are due to the thin layer of dust that has accumulated on some of the boulders. The next step for scientists will be to use the research results to study the processes of formation of lunar vortices. Currently‚ NASA and researchers from the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory are preparing to send a lunar lander to Gamma Rayner to study its magnetic anomalies. This mission is planned for 2024. The post Scientists have discovered strange boulders on the Moon appeared first on Anomalien.com.

What was that? Fresno driver films eerie anomaly on foggy road

A Fresno driver had a spooky encounter as she was driving home from a casino. She filmed the foggy road with her cell phone and later discovered a mysterious anomaly that crossed in front of her car‚ reports coasttocoastam.com. The video‚ which was sent to a local TV station‚ shows a dark and misty road with patches of fog. As the driver turns a corner‚ a white shape appears out of nowhere and seems to move across the road before disappearing. The driver said she did not see anything at the time and only noticed the anomaly when she watched the video. Some viewers have suggested that the anomaly could be a ghost‚ as the road where it was filmed has a history of fatal accidents. Some of the accidents were caused by poor visibility due to fog. However‚ others have offered more mundane explanations‚ such as a reflection of light‚ a smudge on the windshield‚ or a piece of debris. Some have also questioned the authenticity of the video and whether it was edited or staged. The driver‚ who wished to remain anonymous‚ said she was not trying to fool anyone and that she was genuinely scared by what she saw. She said she believes in ghosts and thinks that the anomaly could be the spirit of someone who died on that road. The post What was that? The Resident Evil series is being review bombed over DRM allegations

Several Resident Evil games‚ including Resident Evil 5‚ RE6‚ and the remake of the 1996 original‚ are being review bombed on Steam amid controversy regarding Capcom’s use of DRM (digital rights management) software. Other Capcom games‚ such as Street Fighter 5 and Monster Hunter Rise‚ have also been review bombed‚ as the developer ostensibly deploys Enigma - a third-party DRM solution - via a recent Monster Hunter update. It was previously alleged that Capcom had also added Enigma to Resident Evil Revelations and that its addition was the cause of performance problems in the horror shooter. This claim was disputed‚ however‚ by a prominent Resident Evil mod creator.
