The legendary Rush vocalist, keyboardist and bassist Geddy Lee was a crucial part of the band's sound and helped them to become one of the most successful and influential Rock and Roll bands of all time. He started his career in 1968 and the first album of the group was released in 1974. So they accepted the offer to sometimes open for artists who really were not really similar to the kind of music they were doing. That happened when the band was Lou Reed's opening act and Geddy Lee went to see him. He said that like him, many other fans went to the show only to see Genesis.
