College Football Stars Lead Massive Revival At Major University

A revival consisting of around 800 to 1,000 people took place at The Ohio State University. According to The Lantern, Ohio State football players facilitated a baptism ceremony outside of Curl Market on Sunday. Around 60 attendees were baptized that evening. “Senior running back TreVeyon Henderson, senior defensive end J.T. Tuimoloau, graduate wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, former Buckeyes wide receiver Kamryn Babb and more Ohio State football players helped lead the ceremony, which was jointly hosted by various Christian churches and organizations based in Columbus,” The Lantern noted. Gray (@DerwinLGray) August 26, 2024 CBN reports: Throughout the evening, football players shared their testimonies as the crowd grew larger and larger. “I was just doing my thing because it was fun, and I’ll tell you this: I was on High Street, and I enjoyed it,” former Buckeyes wide receiver Kamryn Babb said, according to The Lantern. “I had fun. But at the same time, I didn’t recognize my condition. I was spiritually dead. I was spiritually dead. I could go out there, and I could smile and laugh. I can go back to the {Woody Hayes Athletic Center}, and smile and laugh. But on the inside, I was broken. I was broken.” By the end of the night, an estimated 60 students chose to get baptized into the Christian faith in four tubs of water near the stage. A huge revival broke out at The Ohio State University over the weekend with hundreds of college students showing deep hunger for God as the new school year kicked off.https://t.co/y3lKjqn16X pic.twitter.com/w1jFM8nN0f — CBN News (@CBNNews) August 27, 2024 “Don’t give up on God turning the campuses upside down this year!” Sean Feucht said. After people were baptized, volunteers helping with the event led them to a nearby building where they gave them Bibles and helped them read through Scripture. “We were praying for years and years for an event like this, and we were praying with expectation. We serve a miracle-working God,” said Egbuka, who is expected to be the team’s top receiver in the upcoming season. “So we definitely had an expectation when it came out, but God did increasingly and abundantly more than what we thought. So, we’re just blessed and thankful.” Tuimoloau added, “I don’t think anything I accomplish on the field compares to what is happening right now.” Henderson, who led the Buckeyes with 926 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns in the 2023 season, agreed with Tuimoloau, stating, “Whatever I’ve done, this right here — what God is doing — is so much more important and so much bigger.”

Burkina victims' families criticize army over massacre

Abidjan, Ivory Coast — Families of Burkina Faso civilians killed in a massacre have accused the army of exposing them to their militant killers by making them leave their village to dig a trench. Armed men carried out the attack in the village of Barsalogho in north central Burkina Faso on Saturday, killing dozens of civilians and security personnel, local sources said. A group linked to al-Qaeda, known by its Arabic initials JNIM, claimed responsibility and said it had seized control of a local militia headquarters. A group representing victims' families, the Justice Collective for Barsalogho, said in a statement seen by Agence France-Presse on Tuesday that Burkina Faso military officials had "obliged people, through threats, to take part in construction work, against their will." It said they forced the locals to dig a trench 3 kilometers (1.86 miles) from the village for forces to use in fighting off the militants. The collective demanded that investigations be carried out to determine who was responsible for the alleged order. In two videos apparently documenting the massacre —circulated on social media and attributed by various sources to JNIM — assailants in military dress are seen firing automatic weapons at a trench containing at least 91 bodies. Authorities have not given a toll. A member of the collective, who asked not to be named for fear of reprisals by the army, told AFP they helped bury victims in mass graves that contained "more than 100 bodies." Rebels affiliated with al-Qaeda and the Islamic State group have waged an insurgency in Burkina Faso since 2015 that has killed more than 20,000 people, according to the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project. A security source earlier claimed that "the response of the soldiers" and auxiliary troops "made it possible to neutralize several terrorists and avoid a greater tragedy." After taking power in a coup in September 2022, Burkina's junta leader Ibrahim Traore vowed to make fighting terrorism a priority. This year he issued a call to civil auxiliary fighters who are aiding the army to "mobilize local people to dig trenches to protect yourselves" until machinery could be delivered.
