Biden Says Inflation Is Moving In The Right Direction. The Numbers Paint A Different Picture
President Joe Biden has repeatedly touted that the pace of inflation is slowly trending in the right direction, but recent data has led experts to cast doubt on that claim.
“There’s nothing in the data that says we are trending towards 2%,” E.J. Antoni, a research fellow at the Heritage Foundation’s Grover M. Hermann Center for the Federal Budget, told the DCNF. “The people saying that are engaged in little more than wishful thinking and political punditry, not empirical analysis. To have an annual inflation rate of 2%, you need to have monthly inflation rates between 0.1% and 0.2%. Instead, we have consistently averaged higher than that since June 2022. We have been trending towards an annual inflation rate in the low 3’s and have arrived there, with no indication we are going significantly lower anytime soon.

Julian Assange wins High Court bid to bring appeal against extradition to US
Julian Assange will be allowed to appeal against his extradition to the United States.
Two judges responded today to US assurances that Mr Assange will not face the death penalty – and can rely on the First Amendment right to free speech if he faced a trial for spying.
He added most of the promises were “blatantly inadequate” – but they had accepted the promise about the death penalty.
In written submissions, the barrister said while the assurance over the death penalty was “an unambiguous executive promise”, the other assurance does not give “any reliable promise as to future action”.
The barrister added: “What needs to be conclusively removed is the risk that he will be prevented from relying on the first amendment on grounds of nationality.”

Biden Reversed Trump Policy Against ICC, Leaving the U.S. and Israel Vulnerable
The ICC warrants came after the Biden administration offered only meek public opposition to chief ICC Karim Kahn. The Biden administration was even suspected, by Israelis, of using the looming ICC warrants as a way of pressuring Israel to comply with U.S. policies, such as not pursuing Hamas terrorists in the town of Rafah.
What has transpired arguably would not have happened had Biden not reversed President Donald Trump’s policies against the ICC.
In June 2020, Trump issued Executive Order 13928, slapping sanctions on ICC officials who attempted to investigate U.S. soldiers — and soldiers of allied countries — for military actions against terrorists.
The order, noting that the U.S. is not a party to the Rome Statute establishing the ICC, declared:
The order froze the assets of any ICC official “directly engaged in any effort by the ICC to investigate, arrest, detain, or prosecute any United States personnel without the consent of the United States … or prosecute any personnel of a country that is an ally of the United States without the consent of that country’s government.” It also denied entry visas to ICC officials engaged in such investigations.
Israel, like the U.S., is not a party to the Rome Statute; Trump’s order therefore protected Israel as well.
President Biden revoked Trump’s order shortly after taking office. Biden and the Democrats, proclaiming that “America is back,” sought to cultivate international goodwill by giving the ICC credibility and power.

Judge Aileen Cannon called out Special Counsel Jack Smith for his dirty tricks in Trump’s classified documents case in a rare Sunday filing.
Jack Smith has repeatedly warned of a ‘significant, immediate’ threat to the government witnesses if their names were unredacted.
The Special Counsel has been fighting to keep the names of government witnesses a secret. He also opposed the unsealing of discovery material because one document confirms the existence of another FBI investigation.
In a five-page order, Judge Cannon, a Trump appointee, said that she is “disappointed” that Jack Smith has demanded redactions for “witness safety” when it benefits him, but ignored those concerns at other times.
