It’s estimated to cost about $320 million for its first 90 days after opening last Thursday and will be operated by about 1,000 US service members — who Biden assured would not enter Gaza itself. The Pentagon has said it will prioritize the safety of US military personnel. “We’re clear eyed and we continue to look at force protection all day, every day and as it stands now we assess the operations can continue,” Cooper said. On Tuesday, the Pentagon said that 569 metric tons had been unloaded on the pier, but none of it had actually made it to Palestinians, who are in dire need of food, water and other vital supplies.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, a Republican, has called for a special session of the state Legislature to ensure Joe Biden is on the ballot in the 2024 presidential election. DeWine pushed lawmakers to pass legislation that puts Biden on the ballot and prohibits “campaign spending by foreign citizens on ballot issues,” USA TODAY noted. The Ohio governor called Biden’s ballot access dilemma an “absurd situation.” “The Legislature had [a] session yesterday and again failed to take any action. This is simply unacceptable,” DeWine said, according to NBC News. “Ohio is running out of time to get Joe Biden, the sitting president of the United States, on the ballot this fall. Failing to do so is simply not acceptable. This is a ridiculous — this is an absurd situation,” he added. “The purpose of this session will be for the General Assembly to pass legislation ensuring that both major presidential candidates will be on the Ohio ballot in November, as well as legislation that would prohibit campaign spending by foreign nationals,” he continued. DeWine said it should not be up to the courts to solve Ohio’s problems. “I’ve waited, I’ve been patient and my patience has run out,” he said. “And the people of the state of Ohio – their patience should have run out by now.” Democrats previously referred to the Senate’s bill as a “sore loser” bill and a “poison pill.” When asked if he thinks the legislation to put Biden on the ballot ought to be a clean bill, DeWine said he didn’t see why the foreign spending ban would be controversial.

A first look at the new biopic “Reagan” just dropped with the release of the film’s official trailer. Dennis Quaid stars in the movie, which follows the life of President Ronald Reagan from his childhood to his time as a Hollywood actor to the presidency. The story is told from the perspective of a fictional ex-KGB agent, Viktor Novikov, played by Jon Voight. Other stars in the film include Penelope Ann Miller as Nancy Reagan, Mena Suvari as Reagan’s first wife Jane Wyman, Lesley-Anne Down as Margaret Thatcher, David Henrie as young adult Reagan, and Kevin Dillon as Jack Warner, plus an ensemble of others. Sean McNamara, best known for his work on “Soul Surfer,” serves as director. “Reagan” is the first film being launched by the new studio ShowBiz Direct. The screenplay is based on Paul Kengor’s 2006 book, “The Crusader: Ronald Reagan and the Fall of Communism.” Kengor is a political science professor at Grove City College, per National Review. Production on the film began four years ago. Quaid spoke with Dr. Jordan B. Peterson earlier this week about preparing for the role.
