An Islamic man from Afghanistan who entered the United States under the Biden-Harris administration has been charged with allegedly planning an ISIS terrorist attack on Election Day. According to court documents, 27-year-old Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi was charged with providing, attempting to provide, and conspiracy to provide material support and resources to a designated foreign terrorist organization; and knowingly receiving, conspiring to receive, and attempting to receive firearms and ammunition to be used to commit a felony or Federal crime of terrorism. Prosecutors say that Tawhedi and a juvenile co-conspirator (CC 1) from Afghanistan took steps to raise the funds needed to carry out the attack and repatriate their family members to Afghanistan a couple weeks prior to the attack by selling their home and personal property. Tawhedi was brought to Oklahoma under the Biden-Harris administration’s special immigrant visa program following the administration’s disastrous pullout from Afghanistan. CC 1 is Tawhedi’s brother-in-law and was brought to the U.S. in 2018. The suspects had an extensive amount of ISIS propaganda that encouraged terrorist attacks on the U.S. and posing for photos while making ISIS hand gestures. Prosecutors say that Tawhedi donated to a charity in March 2024 that was a front group for funneling money to ISIS, which is a crime. The FBI started monitoring him after the donation and tracked down his social media accounts and encrypted Telegram account where he was connected to another Islamic extremist who was involved in ISIS recruitment. In early September, an FBI Confidential Human Source (CHS 1) reached out to the suspects after they put the family’s home and personal possessions up for sale to fund the attack and their family’s repatriation to Afghanistan. CHS 1 purchased a desktop computer and laptop from the suspects and told them he needed the devices for a new gun business that he was starting. From that point, CHS 1 built a relationship with the suspects and encouraged them to come shooting and told them he would sell them weapons. Messages on his Telegram account that were obtained by investigators allegedly show Tawhedi admitting to illegally purchasing two AK-47s and 500 rounds of ammunition. After he took delivery of the rifles and ammunition, undercover agents arrested both suspects. Tawhedi said in his communications that the terrorist attack was planned for Election Day. In a post-arrest interview, investigators say that he admitted to the plot and said that he and CC 1 expected to be martyred during the attack, which was “targeting large gatherings of people,” court documents said.

Left-leaning domestic violence prevention groups and legacy media figures have touted Doug Emhoff, the husband of Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris, as a positive example of masculinity, yet they have remained silent after Emhoff faced an accusation of domestic violence. Last week, The Daily Mail reported that Emhoff assaulted his then-girlfriend while waiting in a valet line at the May 2012 Cannes Film Festival in France. The Daily Mail, citing three friends of the alleged victim, reported that Emhoff struck the woman in the face so hard she spun around. One of her friends said the woman called him immediately after the incident, sobbing, while in her cab. A second friend also said the woman told her about the purported assault at the time. The third friend said the woman recounted the story in 2018, when Harris had grilled then-Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh about sexual assault allegations. While The Daily Mail did not name the then-girlfriend or the friends, it published images that the friends provided as corroboration that Emhoff had dated the woman. Neither the Harris campaign, nor the White House responded to The Daily Signal’s request for comment, though an Emhoff spokesperson denied the incident. “This report is untrue,” the spokesperson told Semafor. “Any suggestion that he would, or has ever, hit a woman is false.” The domestic abuse accusation comes after The Daily Mail previously reported that Emhoff cheated on his first wife and the mother of his two children around 2008, allegedly impregnating his daughter’s nanny. Emhoff admitted the affair in August. He married Harris in 2014. Kerstin Emhoff, who has publicly praised her ex-husband, has co-parented her children with her ex-husband and with Harris. She has endorsed Harris. Praise for Emhoff Legacy media personalities and domestic violence prevention groups have praised Emhoff as a positive example of masculinity. Jen Psaki, a former press secretary for President Joe Biden and a current MSNBC host, praised Emhoff for having “reshaped the perception of masculinity,” calling him an “incredibly supportive spouse.” Catherine Rampell, a Washington Post columnist, praised Emhoff as a “progressive sex symbol” and “the modern female fantasy.” Rampell wrote that “Emhoff appears to be a genuine mensch with an impressive career. He’s smitten with his wife and supports her ambitions, as is obvious from his convention speech and their sweet interactions on the campaign trail.” “What. A. Hunk,” she wrote. Time magazine Editor-at-Large Belinda Luscombe praised “The Doug Emhoff Model of Masculinity” in analyzing the second gentleman’s speech at the Democratic National Convention in August. “He demonstrated a winning self-confidence by making fun of the goofy nervous first-date voicemail he left on Harris’ phone, and joking about his mother being the only person in the world who thinks Harris married up,” she wrote. “Unlike many a divorced dad, he showed no bitterness to his ex-wife, even thanking her from the stage.” The National Women’s Law Center, which runs the TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund to represent alleged victims of sexual assault, invited Emhoff to speak at its 50th anniversary gala in November 2022.   The law center’s action fund quoted Emhoff saying that he would discuss abortion with his son, including three emoji of clapping hands. “I’m talking about it with my son. They did not respond to requests for comment. The National Women’s Law Center did not respond to questions about the accusations. Its Action Fund is spending millions to support Harris in battleground states. The National Organization for Women, which has also endorsed Harris, did not respond to The Daily Signal’s request for comment. The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence declined to comment. The National Resource Center on Domestic Violence did not respond to a request for comment. Using the premise of “digital sovereignty,” Russian regulators have been making significant moves against the unfettered flow of information on the internet. Their latest target is Discord, a messaging platform that is popular in Russia, with an estimated 30-40 million users, contributing to about 4% of Discord’s global traffic. For Turkey, the news follows a story whereby messages praising a 19-year-old man who murdered two women on Oct 4 were shared on other social media platforms and following concerns about grooming, blackmail, and “cyberbullying.” This broad censorship of digital communication isn’t unprecedented in either country, with five rulings on Discord by Roskomnadzor, Russia’s state media regulator since September 20th already. Despite the lack of specifics about what violations Discord is alleged to have committed, the threat of a ban in Russia had been looming for some time and had already risen to the point that Russian users reportedly experienced intermittent outages on Discord throughout September. In desperate attempts to maintain communications, they turned to VPNs. Both mobile and web versions of the platform have been affected. The ban on Discord will impact gaming communities and Russia has no domestic alternative. Amidst this escalating tension, Discord has been fined 3.5 million roubles ($37,675) by a Moscow court for their alleged failure to restrict access to banned information. It was only last week that the Russian regulator ordered Discord to censor nearly 1,000 posts. This brewing conflict traces back to the continuity of “cyber sovereignty” actions triggered by the 2022 Ukraine invasion and subsequent sanctions imposed on Russia by Western countries. To circumvent the grip held by these Western tech giants, Russia has been proactively championing domestic tech platforms, resulting in controversial moves like banning VPNs. For someone who made his living on indecency (and having certain guests ride a sex toy on his show), the apocalyptic germaphobe brought in Harris for a 75-minute sit-down which felt much more like a Stern monologue. NewsBusters sifted through all 75 minutes for the worst moments, which include Stern declared she shouldn’t be “made fun of” because “there’s too much at stake,” claimed Trump supporters keep him “up at night,” doesn’t “understand how this election is close,” said the Supreme Court allows Donald Trump to assassinate her, told her to leave the country if Trump wins, predicted “the darkest skies on the planet” if Trump triumphs, and gushed over her (false) claim about working at McDonald’s. Fortunately, it was bizarre from the start as, after the two discussed their shared love of Prince, Stern fawned over her proclamation that she doesn’t “like talking about” herself considering “the other guy is so only talking about himself.” Stern added that what Harris has “taken on is extraordinarily difficult” and thus he’s “really nervous because I want this to go well for you” and “the country.” He then said Harris shouldn’t be attacked or even mocked to any degree because “there's too much at stake” with “the entire future of this country right now” as the “land of the free, home of the brave”: Howard Stern to Kamala Harris: “When — when you said you don't nap, I get it because, like, what you've taken on is extraordinarily difficult. Turning to her personal life, there was this bizarre question: Speaking of your husband, was it hard for you — because you were so successful at an early age, you know, being a prosecutor of the DA, Attorney General, all — all of these jobs — um — was it hard for you to make a love connection, to make a romance with Doug? Because I would think most men. would be intimidated by you. There was also an allusion to her working at McDonald’s and later addressed when he fawned over her alleged work history. He even wanted to know whether it was “fun at all or is it really hard work”: Howard Stern *did* return to McDonald's, but only to ask *when* she did and how she juggled everything else going on in her life. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police are asking for help from the public in their investigation into the "suspicious" death of a mother of three. Police said they were called to an apartment complex near the intersection of Spencer Street and East Reno Avenue on Thursday near the Harry Reid International Airport at about 4:19 a.m. over the report of a dead body. 'It's a very morbid crime. Was she dropped off there? Was it done near here? It's very gruesome.' When they arrived, they found the remains of a woman inside of a luggage bag. Emergency medical personnel responded but confirmed the woman was dead at the scene. The homicide division took over the investigation because of the suspicious nature of the death. The Clark County Coroner later identified the woman as 46-year-old Kristen Avelar. One resident described to KLAS-TV seeing the police response in the neighborhood. "Unfortunately when I was going back to work, I realized the white tents were up. And typically that's just a sign of something a little bit more serious, so I figured there was a body," she said. "It's a very morbid crime. Was she dropped off there? Was it done near here? It's very gruesome." She went on to say the area is usually quiet. "I love this neighborhood, it's really a tranquil street, so it was a little alarming that something like this should hit very close to home," said one neighbor.A former neighbor told KLAS that Avelar and her husband had owned a trucking company that had gone out of business.
