After a recent barrage of Russian airstrikes against Ukrainian cities, Trump has become far more critical of his counterpart in Moscow, accusing Putin of intentionally stalling on peace negotiations. Putin promised last week to deliver a peace proposal to progress formal talks, but so far, no such progress has been made. The Kremlin will only say that its proposal is in its “final stages.” “We’ll find out whether or not he’s tapping us along or not and if he is, we’ll respond a little bit differently,” Trump said in an apparent ultimatum. “But it will take about a week and a half to two weeks.” Last weekend, the president said he was strongly considering new retaliatory sanctions on Moscow, but in recent days, he’s walked back that idea, saying he didn’t want to hinder a potential peace agreement. Meanwhile, on Wednesday night, a three-judge panel from the U.S. Court of International Trade struck down dozens of President Trump’s tariffs on countries worldwide. Trump invoked the Emergency Economic Powers Act to implement those tariffs, arguing fentanyl trafficking and trade deficits constituted a national emergency, but the court ruled that Trump “exceed[ed] any authority granted to the President” by the act. On Thursday morning, a second federal court in D.C. issued a similar ruling, saying Trump’s tariffs were unlawful. The first ruling was put on hold by a federal appeals court on Thursday afternoon, which ruled in Trump’s favor — it said all tariffs can remain in place while the court reviews the case. The Trump administration says it won’t be slowed down, referring to the rulings as a hiccup — and it is confident the decision will be overturned on appeal and won’t impact ongoing trade talks. And, Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced this week that the administration would work to “aggressively revoke” the visas of Chinese exchange students with ties to the Communist Party, along with those studying in “critical fields.” Chinese students account for 20% of all student visas — the State Department has for years warned that many of these students work with the CCP to smuggle sensitive research data and other intellectual property back to Beijing. Democrats Hit Rock Bottom Topline: Democrats are struggling to connect with American men, a demographic that played a crucial role in putting Trump back in the White House. A recent report leaked to The New York Times highlights the party’s $20 million plan to win them back. Democrats are facing a crisis of perception and policy — the party’s approval rating has plummeted to 27%, the lowest since 1990. Young men in particular have shifted rightward, with many feeling alienated by the Democratic Party’s messaging and drawn to the GOP’s bold, unapologetic style, exemplified by the head of the party himself — Trump. A focus group cited in the Times report found that voters see Democrats as “tortoises” or “sloths” — slow and passive — compared to Republicans, who are viewed as aggressive “apex predators.” Working-class counties with lower median incomes have seen young men gravitate toward the GOP, which they perceive as the better choice for addressing their economic concerns, like job security and cost of living. Young white men, particularly those without college degrees, feel that the Democrats’ focus on social issues — like gender identity or systemic racism — demonizes them. Many resented the Biden administration’s heavy push for DEI policies. Meanwhile, the GOP’s presence on platforms like YouTube and popular podcasts like Joe Rogan has created a cultural pull that Democrats are struggling to counter. In response, the Democrats have a $20 million initiative called “American Men: A Strategic Plan” that will “study the syntax, language and content that gains attention and virality in these spaces” of male voters. The focus is on digital outreach, emphasizing platforms like TikTok, YouTube, and podcasts. “[There’s been] a huge shift in the way the media landscape work[s],” pollster Carly Cooperman told The Daily Wire. “I think we saw Democrats wary of going on some of these podcasts that lean culturally conservative, or where Republicans were going on, but that is the shifting landscape, and that is where people are reaching men, and particularly younger men.” WNBA Race Bait Topline: Caitlin Clark continues to draw strong ratings for the WNBA, while the league finds itself engulfed in racial controversy. The WNBA is just two weeks into the 2025 season, but it only took one game for the league to investigate accusations of racism. The WNBA announced within a few hours that it would investigate those claims. “Obviously, there’s no place in this league for that,” Reese said. “I think the WNBA and our team and our organization has done a great job supporting me. … Going through this whole process, if it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone.” After about a week of trying to find any evidence of racist fan behavior against Reese, the league announced that it found none. “We have investigated the report of racist fan behavior in the vicinity of the court during the May 17, 2025, Chicago Sky at Indiana Fever game. To understand where our nation’s health policy currently stands, and where it is headed, one event enlightens our thinking: Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s recent speech before the World Health Assembly, in which he outlined in stark detail the specific reasons why the United States has left the World Health Organization. On many levels, the global body has lost credibility—revealing its corrupt ties to the Chinese Communist Party and reckless manipulation from the strong arm of pharmaceutical companies. Kennedy was right to charge that the political interests of the WHO have become more important than the health security of nations around the globe. Let’s go deeper on the overwhelming influence of the Chinese government regarding the WHO. The global COVID-19 pandemic was a prime opportunity for the WHO to step forward and assert unbiased, science-based leadership. Instead, the group bent its knee to the CCP, hiding critical information and peddling false assumptions pushed by China, refusing even to acknowledge Taiwan as an independent nation. Is that in the WHO charter—to put its thumb on the scale of geopolitical squabbles? It’s a health organization, for Pete’s sake! There’s no room in health care delivery and research for politics. Yet gender ideology and other forms of political pseudoscience have permeated the thinking of organizations such as the WHO. And to what benefit? What public good? The president made the right call pulling its funding, and Kennedy gave a timely speech calling out what has been so wrong with that organization for too many years. The shift in U.S. policy with respect to where health care is headed can best be captured in Kennedy’s first 100 days at the helm of the Department of Health and Human Services. While it is very “vogue” to look at a leader’s first 100 days of whatever job they are doing, in Washington this often leads to much ado about nothing. The reality is, it’s very difficult to set out in 100 days to make any lasting change. I think many politicos realize that. But I have to say, Kennedy’s first 100 days as HHS secretary have ushered in a period of ambitious reform to reshape America’s approach to health and wellness. He stands in stark contrast to his predecessor. But that’s not saying much. No, Kennedy has set out on a path that focuses on Americans’ true health, driving at the root causes of many diseases and what has ailed Americans. That should be commendable. With a mission to “Make America Healthy Again,” Kennedy has prioritized chronic disease prevention, food safety, and a more efficient HHS. At the heart of Kennedy’s mission is a renewed focus on the root causes of chronic disease. One of his top priorities so far has been to investigate autism’s rise and potential environmental contributors, including air and water pollution, food additives, and mold. While experts remain skeptical of a direct link, Kennedy has long insisted that autism is a “preventable disease” and has committed HHS resources to uncovering environmental factors, promising preliminary findings by September. At the same time, Kennedy has publicly endorsed the MMR vaccine, calling it “the most effective way to prevent the spread of measles,” a notable shift from his earlier views and a move that aligns with mainstream medicine—a clear signal he’s willing to evolve when the facts warrant it. In the area of food safety, Kennedy and Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Dr. Marty Makary have committed to eliminating eight petroleum-based artificial food dyes from foods and medications by the end of 2026, aiming to reduce chronic disease and improve children’s health. When it comes to specific health industries, let’s quickly examine the secretary’s interest in the med-tech sector. At a time when artificial intelligence is enhancing prevention, early detection, and treatment, Kennedy’s emphasis on the role of innovation in health care is spot-on. Further, the rise of digital health tech—including consumer wearables from rings that track your vitals to continuous glucose monitors—should play an increasingly important role if Kennedy is to accomplish his goals in improving individual health outcomes. Internally, HHS underwent significant reorganization. Kennedy consolidated 28 sub agencies into 15 and announced plans to reduce the workforce by 20,000, aiming to save taxpayers $1.8 billion annually. Research suggests that 30% to 65% of teenagers have been exposed to online porn — most accidentally. A report from Brigham Young University found that roughly 12% of all websites host pornographic content.Meanwhile, the rise and normalization of platforms like OnlyFans showcase and glamorize pornography, rebranding prostitution as “sex work” — the new socially acceptable euphemism. These online “stars” feed the demand of 305 million users, racking up over $10 billion in gross transactions — pun very much intended.But the shine is fading — and not just among traditional critics.The data is clearA recent article titled “The Delusion of Porn’s Harmlessness” in the New York Times offers a revealing glimpse. The author, while careful to avoid “sex shaming,” couldn’t ignore the harms. She described the rise of “porn-trained behaviors” among Gen Z: Choking, slapping, and spitting during sex. These are learned behaviors.An entire generation has been catechized by the tutor of the porn industry. A report indicated that 79% of teens who have watched pornography believed it has helped them learn how to have sex. When porn forms our instincts, abuse masquerades as desire.As our culture drifts farther from monogamy, covenant, intimacy, and the procreation purpose of sex, we find ourselves increasingly fragmented and sexually broken.The harm is realOne of the most disturbing and revealing illustrations of this trend came from a social media stunt by Lily Phillips, a young woman who makes her living on OnlyFans. She recorded herself sleeping with 100 men in a single day — for content. What followed was not a celebration and definitely not empowerment, but a sobering breakdown.She cried. She described feeling “robotic,” disconnected, and hollow. She was shattered.Her tears trace back to a root far deeper than fatigue or regret. They point to the soul’s protest. We were not made for sex severed from love, trust, and covenant. Humans are not just sex-driven beasts. We are made in the image of God. We are body and soul, inseparably bound.Sex is profoundly spiritual. Though it occurs in the flesh, it reaches into the soul. It’s free from guilt and shame. It’s good. Maybe that’s why church-attending married couples are having more sex.There is a better way than the world offers.
