DOMESTIC. National Police Chief Anders Thornberg commented on the immigrant riots in Norrköping, Linköping, Malmö and Örebro on Easter day. According to him, the violence against the police is nothing like the authority has seen in Sweden before.

- This is something else. It is a serious violence against life and property, especially against police officers. It is very worrying and we will take strong countermeasures. This should not continue.

The National Police Chief's statement was published before three people were shot by police in Norrköping.

The day before, the police had received criticism from several quarters after it turned out that the police management had given orders not to enter Skäggetorp in Linköping again after the disturbances there. Instead, the rioters had been allowed to take over the city despite the fact that reinforcements had arrived and the police force was large enough.

- These are extremely serious crimes that have been directed at the police and other blue light personnel in recent days. Several participants in the riots have focused on attacking and seriously damaging police and police property, there has been an indifference to the lives of my employees and others. We must show that those who commit such crimes will not escape. Serious criminal attacks on the rule of law must and must be prosecuted quickly, says Thornberg.

The FHP said it began around 3:30 a.m. when a hit-and-run driver hit the 49-year-old Dade City woman as she walked along the highway’s grass shoulder.
Troopers said the driver’s sedan, possibly white or silver in color, left the highway for an unknown reason, hit a traffic sign, and then hit the woman, severing her body in half. The driver did not stop at the scene."
