Ian Munsick Is Parting Ways With His Record Label To “Roam Independently” – “The Time Has Come For Me To Fly Free”

A new chapter of his music career. After five years signed to a major record label, Wyoming native Ian Munsick has decided that it’s time for a change. Munsick has decided to part ways with Warner Music Nashville and will continue his career independently. In a recent social media post, Munsick shared the news with fans, penning: “I moved to Nashville 13 years ago, fresh from the prairies of Wyoming, in pursuit of making music my career. I’m incredibly grateful for the life music has given not just me, but also my wife (and manager) and our soon-to-be family of four. I signed with my record label, Warner Music Nashville, in 2020 and released three full albums in that partnership. I’m thankful for all we learned and accomplished together; however, the time has come for me to fly free.  It is with optimism and gratitude that I have decided to part ways and roam independently. To all the fans: your confidence in me has given me confidence in myself. Thank you, and here’s to greener pastures!” Just the beginning pic.twitter.com/cZLPrnIPv0 — Ian Munsick (@IanMunsick) September 19, 2025 While signed to Warner Music Nashville, Ian Munsick found great success. He’s toured with huge names like Lainey Wilson, Morgan Wallen, Cody Johnson, and more. Munsick also recently earned the honor of being the first Wyoming native to headline Cheyenne Frontier Days. Outside of his success on the road, Munsick’s streaming numbers are ones that some artists only dream of. His duet with Cody Johnson, “Long Live Cowgirls,” has earned over 85 million streams and was recently named one of Amazon Music’s Best Country Songs of 2022. The single earned Munsick an RIAA Gold certification, which is the third song that Munsick has produced earning that honor. The other two songs that stand alongside “Long Live Cowgirls” are “Long Haul” and “Horses Are Faster.” Overall, Munsick has a great run with Warner Music Nashville and gifted fans with “Coyote Cry,” “White Buffalo,” and, most recently, “Eagle Feather” while on the label. While I am sure this chapter comes with some nerves about going independent, it will allow Munsick to have complete control over his music and sound, which should outweigh the nerves with excitement. Here’s to the next chapter, we can’t wait to see what’s in store. Before you go, fire up a few of my personal Ian Munsick tunes. “God Bless The West” “Barn Burner” “Come Home To You” The post Ian Munsick Is Parting Ways With His Record Label To “Roam Independently” – “The Time Has Come For Me To Fly Free” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

Dierks Bentley Lays Down Stellar Cover Of Keith Whitley’s “I’m No Stranger To The Rain” For New “The Sessions (Live)” EP

Dierks Bentley Lays Down Stellar Cover Of Keith Whitley’s “I’m No Stranger To The Rain” For New “The Sessions (Live)” EP

There’s no doubt that Dierks Bentley has been one of the most important and ultimately intriguing artists in the mainstream. From his longtime relationship with Cross Canadian Ragweed’s Cody Canada to his unabashed love for bluegrass, namely working with the likes of Billy Strings and recently The Band Loula, the “Sideways” singer has always been an interesting figure in the genre. Of course, you have his early hits such as “Free and Easy (Down the Road I Go),” “Lot of Leavin’ Left to Do,” “Every Mile a Memory” and “Settle for a Slowdown,” all of which were certifably classics of their era. With that being said, Bentley did slightly fall into the trap of bro/pop country during their height in the mid 2010s with the release of some misteps like “Black,” “Different for Girls” with Elle King and the duology of “Drunk On a Plane” and “Somewhere on a Beach.” Though there’s no denying that those songs aren’t nearly as bad as some of the absolute dumpster fires that were coming out during that era, it’s clear that a spark was missing when you compare them to his earlier output. Since the release of The Mountain back in 2018,  it seems as if Bentley has been on an absolute tear and ultimately releasing the music he wants to put out. The last few years, in particular, have been really exciting to watch. Beyond employing the likes of Billy Strings and Ashley McBryde on 2023’s Gravel & Gold, the 49-year-old singer/songwriter featured Stephen Wilson Jr., John Anderson, Riley Green and Miranda Lambert on his recent record, Broken Branches. Couple that with the fact that he took both Zach Top and the aforementioned The Band Loula out on his summer tour this year, also named Broken Branches, it’s become abundantly clear that Bentley is not only fully embracing some of the most exciting artists of the past and present, he’s becoming a torchbearer for the future of new talent as well. After wrapping up the Broken Branches Tour last month, Bentley continued his streak of paying homage to the past and present with the release of his new The Sessions (Live) EP, which features the pre-released “Get Down On Your Knees And Pray” with The Band Loula, “What Was I Thinking” with Jordan Davis, “Heartbreak Drinking Tour” and most notably, a cover of Keith Whitley’s classic, “I’m No Stranger To The Rain.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Dierks Bentley (@dierksbentley) “I’m No Stranger To The Rain” hardly needs an introduction. Being one of the most iconic songs in Whitley’s discography, it was the final single released before his untimely death in 1989. Along with reaching #1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart and receiving a gold certification from the RIAA, the track would also win Single of the Year at the 23rd CMA Awards, just five months after his passing. There’s always an added amount of pressure when you cover any song from a legend such as Whitley, let alone what can arguably labeled his signature hit. With that being said, however, he absolutely crushes this cover. Giving one of his best performances I’ve heard from the “I Hold On” singer, Bentley nails the performance with some lush, albeit tender vocals throughout the track. Couple his vocals with the excellent backing band, highlighted by Tim Sergent on pedal steel, and you have yourself a cover that honors the “Don’t Close Your Eyes” singer’s legacy beautifully. If you’re a fan of both Whitley and Bentley, you won’t want to miss this performance. “I’m No Stranger To The Rain” “Get Down On Your Knees And Pray”    The post Dierks Bentley Lays Down Stellar Cover Of Keith Whitley’s “I’m No Stranger To The Rain” For New “The Sessions (Live)” EP first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

Zach Bryan Seemingly Signals An End To Feud With John Moreland Following Online Beef

I guess he’s moved on? Not long ago, Zach Bryan and John Moreland got into an online beef, which occurred in May of this year after Zach sold his publishing catalog for a whopping $350 million and signed with Warner Records for at least two more albums. After the deal was announced, John took a shot at him on social media, seemingly out of nowhere. Because they had previously worked together, not all that long ago, and both hail from what is usually considered a pretty tight-knit Oklahoma music scene, it was surprising to see the post from Moreland criticizing Zac. Moreland called him an “off-brand version of me,” among other things: “$350 M is a lot of money to pay for the f***** off-brand version of me. Y‘all have a great day” Well damn! Tell us how you really feel, John Moreland pic.twitter.com/rzZOQDWf71 — Prairie Playlist (@PrairiePlaylist) May 7, 2025 Because it was a little weird to see Moreland take such a public shot at Zach, it led some to wonder at first whether it was just two friends joking around, busting each others’ balls a little bit, or whether it was truly a shot at Zach. But then Zach made it clear that it wasn’t just a friendly jab when he took to his own Instagram to address the comments from Moreland, confirming that he was blindsided and announcing that he would be removing the collab with Moreland from his album: “yooo just saw this from an artist I’ve always respected and supported. Not trying to be dramatic but refuse to have anyone with a problem with me on my records. Replacing Memphis the Blues. If it goes down for a bit just know this is the reason! No hard feelings! Confused as s**t, Tulsans look out for Tulsans!” He then followed it up with one last comment: “Last thing I say on it! Not partial to arguing with butt hurt grown men” Of course we’ve heard a lot of stories about Zach in the past, especially from his ex-girlfriend, so the natural question was raised: What exactly did Zach do for Moreland to call him out like that? And Moreland gave some background on why he wasn’t a Zach Bryan fan in a video on Instagram, explaining that he hadn’t met Zach when he was asked to be on the album: “Just a really big artist from where I’m from asking me to be on a record, cool.” Moreland says that he didn’t have the greatest impression of Zach after their first meeting, but says at that point it was “no big deal.” Afterwards though, he hung out with him a few more times, and…well, I’ll let Moreland explain it from here: “At this point I’ve hung out with him five, six times. I don’t like this motherf*****. Am I supposed to be upset? If I was asked to be on the album today I wouldn’t do it. I don’t want to be on an album with a dude who is a d***head to my wife and my friends right in front of me every time I see him. I don’t want to be on an album with a dude who I’ve heard tell borderline racist jokes more than once. I don’t want to be on an album with a dude who brings a 19-year old girl in the bar, and then when they tell him she can’t be in there, looks at me like I’m supposed to have his f***** back. I don’t like that person. That’s who thinks I’m an a**hole? Fine. As far as I’m concerned, getting kicked off a Zach Bryan album is way f****** cooler than being on a Zach Bryan album.” At the time all of this was happening, Zach clarified that he would be re-releasing the song once Moreland was removed, and now fans shouldn’t have to wait too much longer to hear this updated version with Carroll. Since Moreland co-wrote the song with Zach, he’ll still most likely get 50% of the publishing royalties from the song. But it appears as though Zach has moved on, even though he re-recorded “Memphis; The Blues” with J.R. Carroll, he’s listening to John Moreland again, as he shared an Instagram story showing that he was listening to Moreland’s “Gospel”: I don’t know if this means they’ve made up in private or something, but it’s hard to imagine he’d be not only listening to Moreland, but sharing his music on Instagram if there was any bad blood. If Moreland is offended by it or has something to say about it, I’m sure we’ll be hearing about it sooner rather than later… “Gospel” The post Zach Bryan Seemingly Signals An End To Feud With John Moreland Following Online Beef first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

Colter Wall Announces 2026 ‘Hardcore Country Tunes’ Texas Tour With Hayden Redwine

Colter Wall Announces 2026 ‘Hardcore Country Tunes’ Texas Tour With Hayden Redwine

Running around the Lone Star State. Colter Wall is hitting the road in January for a handful of tour dates around Texas. It’s not a secret that when the Canada native hits the road, it’s going to be something special. The “Little Songs” singer does not tour often, making the demand for his tickets insane when he takes some time away from pushing cattle to sing for fans. Colter Wall just announced a limited run of shows in Texas during January of 2026. Officially dubbed the ‘Hardcore Country Tunes’ tour, Colter Wall and the Scary Prairie Boys will be heading all around the Lone Star State. And they are bringing along a fine Texan as their supporting act. Hailing from West Texas, Hayden Redwine will be accompanying Colter Wall on this tour. “Tejas shows with our buddy Hayden Redwine. Presale starts September 23. Signup at ColterWall.com” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Colter Wall (@colterwall) And it appears that fans might have some new Colter Wall tunes to listen to by the time the tour comes around. If you recall, back in December, the Canadian told Dale Brisby in a rare media appearance on the Rodeo Time podcast that new music was coming out this summer. “I don’t know when it will be out. Probably… I would guess, usually they want to shoot for or put that stuff out around July or August. Hopefully this (2025) year we’ll get it mixed and out into the world. New record, all original songs (with) one cover on there.” At the time of the podcast, the “Honky Tonk Nighthawk” singer said that they had yet to name it, but he happily explained the inspiration behind the collection of music they put together: “I don’t know what it’s called. I kind of just wanted to make a straight… it’s just a love letter to country music. Really it’s just a bunch of sad drinking songs mostly. I just wanted to make a record that sounded like Merle Haggard and the Strangers—late 60s into the early 70s. Honestly, to me, that’s where country music peaked. That’s my favorite stuff to listen to, and I think that was the best band in country music. I wanted to make a record that reminded me of that. So that’s what we did… or tried to (do) anyways.” Now that it’s nearing the end of August, it seems like that’s clearly been delayed. However, it shouldn’t come as a massive surprise given that 2025 has seemingly been a trying year for Wall, highlighted by the fact that he cancelled his February and March shows to October due to “personal reasons” regarding his mental and physical health. However, new music is on the horizon as Wall is teasing what he’s got in the pipeline. Colter Wall initially shared a Merle Haggard-inspired melody, tagging the famed RCA Studio A in Nashville. Later preview of a new single, seemingly titled “1,800 Miles From Music Row, dogging on the Nashville machine. It’s pretty well-established that Wall isn’t a huge fan of Music City’s industry infrastructure, and based on the lyrics previewed in this clip, it appears that those thoughts have not changed much: “I don’t know what you think you’ve been toldIf I ever was for sale, I never soldIt’s short on flashing lights and rhinestone clothes1,800 miles from Music RowIt’s Tyson songs on the fiddle and guitarAnd the pedal steel man drives a real mean barYou won’t hear it on your radioIt’s 1,800 miles from Music Row” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Colter Wall (@colterwall) Keeping right in line with the previewed lyrics, Wall shared in the caption that his team wanted to invest in some advertising for his music, suggesting he do a billboard. In true Colter Wall fashion, he wanted a more practical advertisement and opted to save a little money by creating another great marketing option: “Management suggested getting a billboard to promote the upcoming single. A cheaper option was selected.” The interstate-style sign reads “Music Row 1,800 Miles” painted on a piece of scrap wood in green paint. It’s the definition of simple yet effective. At this rate, it shouldn’t be too long before the date is revealed for when fans will receive this gem. Bring it on, Colter. And bring on all the new tunes for this tour.
