In-N-Out Burger To Close Its Only Location In Oakland Due To Crime

In-N-Out Burger announced on Sunday that it is closing its only location in Oakland‚ California‚ due to crime making the neighborhood dangerous for employees and customers. Annual crime statistics released by the Oakland Police Department show that robberies in the area jumped 38% between 2022 and 2023‚ while burglaries increased by 23%‚ according to a report from The Mercury News. The location that is closing is only a couple of miles away from Oakland International Airport. Chief Operating Officer Denny Warnick made the announcement‚ saying that “despite taking repeated steps to create safer conditions‚ our Customers and Associates are regularly victimized by car break-ins‚ property damage‚ theft‚ and armed robberies.” Crime at the location was so bad that security guards told a local publication that they took more theft reports than any other property they patrol‚ saying that they see about five break-ins at the location on a “regular” day. The location will officially close on Sunday‚ March 24‚ 2024. CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP “We are grateful for the local community‚ which has supported us for over 18 years‚ and we recognize that this closure negatively impacts our Associates and their families‚” Warnick said. “Additionally‚ this location remains a busy and profitable one for the company‚ but our top priority must be the safety and well-being of our Customers and Associates – we cannot ask them to visit or work in an unsafe environment.” Warnick said all employees can transfer to a nearby In-N-Out location for employment or receive a severance package. “In-N-Out Burger has a history of supporting the Oakland community through charitable giving that predates the opening of our location there‚” the statement concluded. “Although we will no longer do business there‚ we will continue to support local charitable organizations in Oakland through our In-N-Out Burger Foundation and Slave 2 Nothing Foundation.”

Weekend Media Wrap‚ Vol. 27: What You Missed If You Weren’t Glued To The Sunday Shows

Every Sunday morning‚ legacy media outlets are taken over by elected officials‚ aspiring elected officials‚ administration insiders‚ and the usual collection of talking heads — all of whom are there to discuss specific policies‚ push talking points‚ or simply promote their own campaigns. For those who don’t spend their Sunday mornings glued to the television — and their Sunday afternoons attempting to unravel a full week’s worth of network and cable news media spin — The Daily Wire has compiled a short summary of what you may have missed. ABC News‚ “This Week”: President Joe Biden’s campaign‚ according to recent polling‚ is struggling to keep the support of black voters going into the 2024 presidential election. ABC’s Martha Raddatz broached the subject with Biden’s Deputy Campaign Manager Quentin Fulks‚ who quickly pivoted to claim that Biden had done more for the black community than any other president. “I think what a lot of people are expressing is urgency. They sense a sense of urgency because of the threat that Republicans posed to‚ you know‚ America right now and that’s precisely why the president and the vice president are running for reelection to make sure that that doesn’t happen‚” he said. “When it comes to African American voters‚ I want to be very clear about this‚ that no administration has done as much for the African American community‚ as President Biden and Vice President Harris.” Fulks went on to say that the real heavy lift for the campaign would be making sure that the black community understood just how much the Biden administration had done for them: “We’ve come out of the gate with very large buys targeted at African American voters‚ organizing in their communities to send a clear signal that one‚ we don’t take them for granted‚ two‚ we recognize that we need to earn their support in this campaign‚ and communicate with them all the way.” Despite polls showing the Biden-Harris campaign is underperforming with Black voters‚ deputy campaign manager Quentin Fulks tells @MarthaRaddatz: “No administration has done as much for the African American community as Pres. Biden and Vice Pres. Harris.” https://t.co/bR3ycLpfin pic.twitter.com/NZAs4oou9j — This Week (@ThisWeekABC) January 21‚ 2024 CBS News‚ “Face the Nation”: Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) warned that Biden might face protests the next time he came to visit Michigan — a state that voted Democrat in 2020 but chose former President Donald Trump in 2016 — because a number of Muslim and Arab-Americans feel as though Biden has failed them in not calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. “These are legitimate and raw feelings that people have‚” Whitmer said. Michigan @GovWhitmer says President Biden "may" face protesters when he visits Michigan‚ a state with a large Muslim and Arab-American population‚ who are frustrated Biden hasn't called for a cease-fire in Gaza. "These are legitimate and raw feelings that people have." pic.twitter.com/n4vTY6Utya — Face The Nation (@FaceTheNation) January 21‚ 2024 At least one Muslim American‚ participating in a CBS News focus group on election issues‚ appeared to back up Whitmer’s claim. “I was never a single-issue voter‚” the man said‚ but claimed that Biden’s failure to push for a ceasefire had left Muslim Americans “disowned” and “disenfranchised.” “For me this is a deal-breaker‚” he added‚ despite describing himself as previously being a “champion” for the Democratic president. In our focus group of Michigan voters‚ Thasin tells @margbrennan he "was a champion" for President Biden‚ but now feels Biden has "disowned" and "disenfranchised" Muslim Americans with his stance on Gaza. "I was never a single-issue voter…but for me this is a deal-breaker." pic.twitter.com/4cwmuYbNbo — Face The Nation (@FaceTheNation) January 21‚ 2024 CNN‚ “State of the Union”: CNN’s David Chalian broke down the latest poll ahead of Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary election — where previous polls have shown that former Governor Nikki Haley (R-S.C.) is likely to make her best showing — and said that Trump still has the outsized advantage. Trump‚ according to the CNN/UNH poll‚ commands the support of some 50% of likely primary voters. Another 39% voiced support for Haley and 6% for Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) — although the poll was taken prior to DeSantis’ Sunday afternoon announcement that he was suspending his presidential campaign. He offered his endorsement to Trump. NEW: Ahead of Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary‚ a CNN/UNH poll shows Donald Trump with 50% support from likely Republican primary voters‚ compared to Nikki Haley with 39% and Ron DeSantis with 6%. Biden supporters are planning a write-in campaign in spite of the fact that the DNC will not award any delegates to the winner — and Senator Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.) told “Meet the Press” anchor Kristen Welker that she had high hopes. “Write-in campaigns are really tough‚” she admitted. “But we are feeling good.” WATCH: With President Biden absent from the N.H. ballot‚ some Democrats in the state have turned to a write-in campaign. @kwelkernbc: "Is President Biden going to win?"@SenatorHassan (D-N.H.): "Write-in campaigns are really tough. But we are feeling really good." pic.twitter.com/WhCZrCncGi — Meet the Press (@MeetThePress) January 21‚ 2024 FOX‚ “Fox News Sunday”: Fox News anchor Bret Baier asked former President Trump who he had in mind to choose for his running mate — assuming he would be the Republican nominee — and Trump demurred. He said that he did have someone in mind‚ but argued that revealing the name of his vice presidential pick was not likely to change anyone’s calculus in the near term. He did say that the person was a “good person” and that he was 25% certain that would be his final decision. WATCH: The Sunday Panel reacts to @BretBaier asking former President Trump about his possible VP pick. pic.twitter.com/XHhyo0c8q8 — Fox News Sunday (@FoxNewsSunday) January 21‚ 2024 MSNBC‚ “Inside With Jen Psaki”: Former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki aired her MSNBC show live from New Hampshire ahead of Tuesday’s primary‚ and she started by highlighting Nikki Haley’s latest attack on Donald Trump — namely that the former president had “lost his fastball.” “Just to put a fine point on this: Donald Trump’s closest Republican challenger is now calling his mental fitness into question‚ and no matter what happens here on Tuesday‚ that is significant‚” she claimed. .@jrpsaki: “Just to put a fine point on this: Donald Trump’s closest Republican challenger is now directly calling his mental fitness into question‚ and no matter what happens here on Tuesday‚ that is significant.” pic.twitter.com/Zn6UW9Cgd4 — Inside with Jen Psaki (@InsideWithPsaki) January 21‚ 2024 Later in the show‚ Psaki spoke with Rep. Ro Hanna (D-CA) about Haley’s chances — and Khanna took the opportunity to first criticize Haley for focusing too little on identity politics and then suggest that Republicans were too racist to vote for her anyway. Responding to Haley’s assertion that the United States had never been a “racist country‚” he said‚ “I just think she has an opportunity to talk as a daughter of immigrants about her story and inspire people. And instead‚ she’s appealing to a base that’s never going to vote for her.” "I just think she has an opportunity to talk as a daughter of immigrants about her story and inspire people. Harvard Slammed For Choosing Prof Who Called Israel ‘Apartheid State’ To Co-Chair Anti-Semitism Task Force

On Friday‚ Harvard University announced the formation of an anti-Semitism task force to be co-chaired by a professor who was also one of many signatories to a letter last August that accused Israel of an “illegal occupation of millions of Palestinians” and forcing Palestinians to live “under a regime of apartheid.” The letter also accused the current Israeli government of a “messianic‚ homophobic‚ and misogynistic agenda” and endorsed a “Demand from elected leaders in the United States that they … restrict American military aid from being used in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.” Filed under “you can’t make this up” —Prof who claims “veins of hatred run through Jewish civilization” &; that @Israel is a racist‚ #Jewish Supremacist apartheid state is appointed co-chair of @Harvard’s Presidential Task Force on Combating #Antisemitism.https://t.co/HDGFRB6r04 — Pamela Paresky🎗️(Habits of a Free Mind) (@PamelaParesky) January 21‚ 2024 Harvard University – the rot of antisemitism at the disgraced school sinks to a new low as Derek Penslar‚ a member of the school’s task force to FIGHT antisemitism‚ is outted for calling Israel an apartheid regime.https://t.co/zZuikbrVOh — StopAntisemitism (@StopAntisemites) January 21‚ 2024 Harvard naming Derek Penslar as co-chair of their Task Force on Antisemitism makes as much sense and inspires as much confidence as the U.N. announcement the day before that Ayatollah Khamenei's regime will assume the Presidency of the Conference on Disarmament. https://t.co/H4716qyXB6 — Hillel Neuer (@HillelNeuer) January 21‚ 2024 Derek Penslar‚ the William Lee Frost Professor of Jewish History in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences‚ also published a book titled “Zionism: An Emotional State” in which he stated that “veins of hatred run through Jewish civilization” in reference to Biblical narrative. “Prof Penslar has publicly minimized Harvard’s anti-Semitism problem‚ rejected the definition used by the US government in recent years of anti-Semitism as too broad‚ invoked the need for the concept of settler colonialism in analyzing Israel‚ referred to Israel as an apartheid state and more‚” former Harvard President Lawrence H. Summers wrote on X‚ adding‚ “None of this in my view is problematic for a professor at Harvard or even for a member of the task force but for the co-chair of an anti-Semitism task force that is being paralleled with an Islamophobia task force it seems highly problematic.” Author Ira Stoll stated that Penslar in a “December 29‚ 2023 Crimson op-ed‚ criticized the International Holocaust Remembrance Association definition of antisemitism and endorsed two alternative definitions. The IHRA definition was backed by the Trump and Biden administrations and is included in federal Department of Education guidance (which Penslar omitted from his op-ed).” Background on Derek Penslar‚ Harvard professor named today by interim president Alan Garber as co-chair of an antisemitism task force. I think Penslar is a terrible selection to co-chair this task force. Here is why: 1) Signed August 4‚ 2023 “Elephant in the Room” letter about… — Ira Stoll (@IraStoll) January 19‚ 2024 “Harvard continues on the path of darkness‚” billionaire investor Bill Ackman‚ who helped lead the charge against former Harvard President Claudine Gay‚ tweeted. Penslar defended Gay after she had testified before Congress and avoided answering whether calling for the genocide of Jews violated Harvard’s codes of conduct‚ saying‚ “It can be‚ depending on the context.” .@Harvard continues on the path of darkness. https://t.co/b2TWTHLfBs — Bill Ackman (@BillAckman) January 19‚ 2024
