Toddler directs his mom's maternity photoshoot like an absolute pro

Every child’s journey to discovering their talents is as unique as the talent itself. But when parents can really notice and support the things that their little ones are naturally gravitating towards, magic tends to happen. Case and point: an impeccably adorable maternity shoot…directed by a toddler who’s clearly a photographer in the making. In August of 2023, Skye Hitchcock posted a little behind-the scenes video showing how her young son Bridger offered his keen eye. In the clip, Hitchcock wears a lovely white mini dress and stands in front of colorful flowers as Bridger directs her to do things like ““Rub the baby, and cheese” and look up into the sun (a bit of a tough ask, but Hitchcock found a way). What’s hilarious about this is how very serious and in the zone Bridger seems to be. At one point he asks mom to sit down for a shot. When she says “what?” he replies, much more firmly “SIT DOWN.” Respect his process, please! But then, the real cherry on top is all the sweet compliments he gives his subject. “You look so beautiful…you look so good…you look really pretty…” he says. GAH. Watch all this cuteness below: @skyehitchcock how much should I pay him? #photographer #momsoftiktok #toddlermom #momandson ♬ Cena Engraçada e Inusitada - HarmonicoHCO Understandably, people were wowed not only by Bridger’s god given talent, but his personality. “Pls pls pls get him a camera. Encourage him. He has actual talent!!” one person wrote. “OH MY GOD ? sit down?! smell the flowers?! look at the baby?! you’re so beautiful?! I LOVE HIM!!!!” added another. After getting such an overwhelming positive response to her clip, Hitchcock shared in a follow-up video that her son’s love for photography has seemed to always be there. “He has been this way for as long as I can remember,” she said. And she has been supporting that passion as well, getting him a polaroid camera for his previous birthday, and a digital camera for his following birthday. Plus, of course, he uses her phone for snapping pics too. The support has certainly done its job. Recently, Hitchcock posted yet another video, this time a photoshoot of her and her new baby girl named Valley…directed by Bridger, of course. And it’s every bit as wonderful as the last one. @skyehitchcock How much should I pay him? hes getting better and better! #wholesome #family #toddlermom #momsoftiktok ♬ Aesthetic - Tollan Kim The kid has clearly honed in on what works—sitting in front of flowers, looking up in joy, and telling mom and sis they are beautiful. As one person put it, “he’s a professional already!” Maybe not all kids pick up a talent quite so quickly or easily as Bridger, but any kid that has an attentive, supportive parent in their corner can make sussing out what does actually light them up inside a bit easier. That’s why paying attention to the hints, whether subtle or overt, is so important. Kudos to Hitchock for being that kind of parent.

To celebrate Middle Child Day, here are 7 traits that make them so special

August 12 is National Middle Child Day in America, dedicated to recognizing the sibling in the middle. It’s a special day to highlight the kids who often get lost in the familial mix while the youngest hogs all the attention and the eldest has all the responsibilities. Elizabeth Walker started the day in the 1980s because she thought middle children were “left out.” When people discuss the plight of these kids, they often bring up Middle Child Syndrome, which some say leads kids caught in the middle to feel rebellious or have a chip on their shoulder. However, at Upworthy, we like looking at the bright side of things, so we’ve made a list of the 7 traits that make middle children amazing. 1. They’re good kids Research shows that historically, middle children have been the most behaved out of the bunch. One study in 1964 and another in 2009 found that middle children were the least likely to act out. 2. They’re wonderful team players Middle children are the way to go if you’re building a team, whether on the field or in the office. “They become more independent, think outside the box, feel less pressure to conform, and are more empathetic,” Katrin Schumann, author of "The Secret Power of Middle Children," told Psychology Today. “This gives them great skills as employees and also makes them excellent team players and partners.” 3. They are successful Schumann also says middle children are more successful than their older and younger siblings. She notes that at least 52% of US presidents were middle children, as were Warren Buffet, Mark Zuckerberg, Jennifer Lopez, Princess Diana and Michael Jordan. "When they realize how many the useful skills they've developed as a result of being in the middle, they are empowered in ways that positively influence their lives," Schumann said, according to Business Insider. The expert claims that middle children are successful because they had to vie for attention and aren't used to giving up on what they want.” 4. They are great negotiators Middle children must develop excellent negotiating skills because they are at a power disadvantage in the home. "When middleborns are growing up, they don't get their way because they're the biggest and they don't get their way because they're the baby who was indulged,” Catherine Salmon, PhD. told CBS News. 5. They’re humble Middle children have to learn humility the hard way because their birth order makes them the least important in the bunch. But even though it’s a harsh lesson, the benefits are great. “Humility can produce more happiness, positive emotions, and well-being because a person has a clearer understanding of the self,” Tiara BLain writes in a PsyD-reviewed article for Verywell Mind. “They are able to be comfortable with who they are and who they are not.” 6. They are creative Middle children may also be more creative because they are “trying to be different from their elder and younger sibling,” Michele Borba, Ed.D., writes. Given that the eldest and youngest naturally stand out, the middle child may have to work a bit harder to receive attention for their creativity, so they push themselves further. 7. They’re likeable Suzanne Degges-White, PhD, says middle children may be more “agreeable” and easygoing” than their siblings. “They are more extroverted, as well,” she writes. “They don’t have to lead the pack, and they don’t get the “babying” their younger siblings do. This allows them a bit more freedom to be themselves.” Ultimately, we’re all individuals, so not all middle children will develop these qualities. But it’s nice to take a second and heap some praise on the kids who may have felt a little neglected during childhood by letting them know that they are special, too. Just not as special as Marsha. “Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!”

How Many Warnings Is California Going To Get Before “The Big One” Finally Strikes?

Time is running out for the state of California.  Scientists are telling us that “the Big One” is way overdue, but most people living in California don’t seem to care.  Every once in a while there is a “reminder” that they live in earthquake country, and those “reminders” seem to be coming a lot more frequently these days.  Two weeks ago, a magnitude 4.9 earthquake hit southern California, but that was quickly forgotten.  One week ago, a magnitude 5.2 earthquake hit southern California, but that was quickly forgotten as well.  This week, southern California has been shaken by a magnitude 4.4 earthquake, but this one will soon be forgotten too… A magnitude 4.4 earthquake rumbled underneath Los Angeles at 12:20 p.m. Monday, less than a week after a bigger one jolted much of Southern California. The U.S. Geological Survey placed the epicenter of Monday’s quake near the Highland Park neighborhood in the city’s northeast and three miles from Pasadena, site of the New Year’s Day Rose Parade. The quake was felt at least as far west as the San Fernando Valley and as far south as Orange County. Some news outlets are reporting that this quake could be felt as far away as San Diego. When it occurred, Alexi Lalas was right in the middle of his podcast… A medical building also shook and inhabitants said glasses and dishes rattled in many places, while former USMNT star Alexi Lalas was hosting his ‘State of the Union’ podcast when the earthquake hit. ‘Ooh we just had a earthquake… damn, that was a big one,’ Lalas said before asking if everyone on his production was ‘good’ and claiming ‘that was big.’ It was definitely a big quake. But soon everyone will forget it. I just don’t understand why more people are not taking these quakes seriously. Interestingly, this earthquake happened on the very first day of school for the Los Angeles Unified School District… It struck on the first school day for the Los Angeles Unified School District. At least one high school, John Marshall in Los Feliz, alerted parents that they had evacuated the buildings to check for damage, but didn’t see any immediately. Can you imagine sitting there and your entire classroom starts to rattle? This new quake has struck less than a week after a magnitude 5.2 earthquake in another area of southern California was quickly followed by 277 aftershocks… Last Tuesday, a magnitude 5.2 earthquake and a swarm of aftershocks in farmland almost 90 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles didn’t do much damage but did send the fire department’s 106 stations into earthquake mode, triggering a land, sea and air survey. More than 277 aftershocks to the Aug. 6 quake, the largest in Southern California in three years, included two with a magnitude of 4 or greater. And the week before that a magnitude 4.9 earthquake hit an area near Barstow… That shake followed a little over a week after a 4.9-magnitude temblor struck to the East of Barstow and was also felt throughout much of Southern California. When the giant ball of fire that our planet revolves around is very active, we tend to experience more seismic activity. Unfortunately, solar activity is likely to remain at very high levels for the next couple of years… We are in a period known as solar maximum, in an 11-year cycle of the sun when increased solar activity erupts. Every 11 years or so, the Sun’s magnetic field flips completely, with the Sun’s north and south poles switching places, according to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Solar maximum happens in the middle of the cycle. Space weather activity and things like this are more likely to happen through the remainder of 2024, through 2025 and even into 2026, Dahl said. That is certainly not good news. And scientists openly admit that “the Big One” is definitely overdue… Paleoseismologists expect big ones to occur there every 150 to 200 years, Greg Beroza, a Stanford professor and a co-director of the Southern California Earthquake Center, told me: “We’re overdue.” Teams of scientists have been trying to improve on that chillingly vague forecast, he said, so that the quake’s arrival can be predicted days, weeks, or even months ahead of time—but there is no guarantee that they’ll succeed. The Northridge quake in 1994 was not a “Big One”.  In fact, it wasn’t even close. When “the Big One” finally arrives, it is going to cause a monumental amount of damage. One team of scientists that has studied this has concluded that “the Big One” could literally “plunge large parts of California into the sea almost instantly”… The Big One may be overdue to hit California, but scientists near LA have found a new risk for the area during a major earthquake. They claim that if a major tremor hits the area, it could plunge large parts of California into the sea almost instantly. The discovery was made after studying the Newport-Inglewood fault, which has long been believed to be one of Southern California’s danger zones. I know that I have covered this before. But I am going to cover it again, because this is important. Cal State Fullerton professor Matt Kirby says that when “the Big One” finally hits, land on the western side of a major fault line could suddenly drop by up to three feet and if that happened it would allow water from the Pacific Ocean to come flooding in… The study showed that land within major Californian seismic faults could sink by 1.5 and three feet instantly. The last known major quake occurred on the San Andreas fault in 1857. Seismologists estimate the 800 mile-long San Andreas, which runs most of the length of the state, should see a large quake roughly every 150 years. ‘It´s something that would happen relatively instantaneously,’ Kirby said. ‘Probably today if it happened, you would see seawater rushing in.’ A lot of people living in California make jokes about such a disaster, but the truth is that someday this will occur.  In my latest book entitled “Chaos”, I have an entire chapter that is dedicated to what is going to happen to the state.  We have been warned over and over again for decades, but most of those that live in the region are not interested in such warnings. For the moment, millions of people are partying as if disaster will never come. But someday time will run out and the geography of the state of California will suddenly be altered dramatically. Michael’s new book entitled “Chaos” is available in paperback and for the Kindle on Amazon.com, and you can subscribe to his Substack newsletter at michaeltsnyder.substack.com. About the Author: Michael Snyder’s new book entitled “Chaos” is available in paperback and for the Kindle on Amazon.com. He has also written seven other books that are available on Amazon.com including “End Times”, “7 Year Apocalypse”, “Lost Prophecies Of The Future Of America”, “The Beginning Of The End”, and “Living A Life That Really Matters”.  When you purchase any of Michael’s  books you help to support the work that he is doing.  You can also get his articles by email as soon as he publishes them by subscribing to his Substack newsletter.  Michael has published thousands of articles on The Economic Collapse Blog, End Of The American Dream and The Most Important News, and he always freely and happily allows others to republish those articles on their own websites.  These are such troubled times, and people need hope.  John 3:16 tells us about the hope that God has given us through Jesus Christ: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”  If you have not already done so, we strongly urge you to invite Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Savior today.
