The government wants to place inmates in prisons abroad

FOREIGN. The Tidö parties want to rent prison places abroad to solve the lack of places in Swedish prisons. This method is already used by Denmark, which sends criminals to prisons in controversial Kosovo.
Due to full capacity in the Swedish prisons and planned toughening of sentences, the Correctional Service estimates that the number of prison places will need to be doubled in the coming years.
However, Norway's system faced criticism for making visits from relatives more difficult and violating so-called human rights.
It is the country where the prison is located that has jurisdiction over the prisoners, which led to problems in protecting the criminals from so-called degrading treatment.
The government is now taking a closer look at the legal and practical conditions for implementing this proposal.

A film spread by Russian media shows how Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu inspects a Swedish Combat Vehicle 90, CV90, which was captured by Russia from the Ukrainian troops.
It is about the only confirmed loss of one of the 50 combat vehicles of the type that Sweden donated to Ukraine during the spring. Russia has previously displayed the vehicle, and the Russian embassy in Stockholm has claimed that it "became part of Russia's armed forces".

The combat vehicle was knocked out in late July during fighting near the city of Kreminna in the Luhansk region of eastern Ukraine.
Not impressed
The Russians are said not to be impressed by the Swedish combat vehicle. It was allegedly knocked out by a direct hit from the front with an RPG-7, a Soviet rocket-propelled grenade from the early 1960s.
- The vehicle was stopped with our grandparents' weapons, says a Russian commander.
Another Ukrainian CV90 got away with nothing but horror when a fired RPG-7 narrowly missed, American Forbes previously reported.
On Friday, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu visited the occupied Luhansk province, and got to see, among other things, the Swedish-developed combat vehicle that was salvaged by Russian troops. It is unclear what condition it is in otherwise.
The Russians point out that the CV90 has a relatively high profile, making it an easier target, and has a low rate of fire. Additionally, the captured vehicle reportedly lacked the tools or equipment to repair it in the field, which also baffles the Russians.
