'There will be no backing down': UFC star Conor McGregor vows to change Ireland after stabbings by Algerian migrant suspect

Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor spoke out and called for change and greater safety in Ireland after a stabbing attack outside a school in Dublin‚ Ireland.Three children and two adults were stabbed by an Algerian immigrant‚ with a 5-year-old girl and 30-year-old female in critical condition‚ according to the Counter Signal.Police said the suspect was also injured and is a 50-year-old man who was labeled a "person of interest." The motive was not known. The Irish took to the streets in protest‚ burning buses and cars. Protesters clashed with riot police‚ the Guardian reported‚ as demonstrators set off flares and fireworks. The police response peaked at 400 officers with no serious injuries reported among the responding forces. A total of 34 people were arrested as a result‚ Reuters noted.Fighter McGregor was quick to jump into the conversation about the incident‚ responding to a post on X from his coach John Kavanagh."So what should happen with this demented scumbag who attacked women and kids today?" the coach wrote. "Few years in jail at our expense to get out and repeat?? Needs to be deported immediately and never allowed back or just hang him‚ there's no 'fixing' him.""Torture and death‚" McGregor simply replied. Torture and death. — (@) The entrepreneur and brewer elaborated on his views in response to a video of an alleged journalist being questioned by a man on the street. The videographer appeared to accuse the would-be journalist of calling citizens far-right for objecting to mass immigration."Isn’t that something. The absolute picture of weak and feeble. The most divisive of all is the weak man‚" McGregor said of the man in the video. "One of the most horrific crimes this nation ever seen has occurred‚ we do not care anymore what you sad cases have got to say."McGregor then promised change in the name of safety."In a war you are nothing. We are not backing down‚ we are only warming up. There will be no backing down until real change is implemented for the safety of our nation. We are not losing any more of our woman and children to sick and twisted people who should not even be in Ireland in the first place. Call it what you want. We do not care. May God help us all. Ireland for victory." Isn\u2019t that something. The absolute picture of weak and feeble. The most divisive of all is the weak man. One of the most horrific crimes this nation ever seen has occurred‚ we do not care anymore what you sad cases have got to say. In a war you are nothing. We are not backing\u2026 — (@) Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar criticized the rioters in the aftermath‚ saying that citizens were most afraid of them."Ask everyone you know what they fear most on our streets. They're afraid of you‚ afraid of your violence and your hate and how you blame others for your problems‚" the leader said. The prime minister also vowed to modernize laws against "hatred in general.""We will pass new laws in the coming weeks to enable the Gardai [police] to make better use of the CCTV evidence they collected yesterday‚ and also we will modernize our laws against incitement to hatred and hatred in general‚" he claimed. Taoiseach Leo Varadkar says to the far-right protesters who rioted in Dublin last night 'ask everyone you know what they fear most on our streets. They're afraid of you. Afraid of your violence and your hate and how you blame others for your problems'.\n\nhttps://t.co/jSqOhnwgMh — (@) Like Blaze News? Congress is right to take auto subsidy-grubbers to task

Congress is right to take auto subsidy-grubbers to task

It has been over a decade since the federal government bailed out the auto industry at a cost to taxpayers of more than $10 billion‚ but the transfer of tax dollars to this powerful sector of our economy has not even come close to ending. Over the past several years‚ untold billions of federal‚ state‚ and local tax dollars have been spent in the form of tax credits‚ subsidies‚ and other investments to prop up the auto industry’s expansion into electric vehicles. And just two months ago‚ the Biden administration offered another $12 billion to automakers‚ ensuring the spigot remains wide open.Of course‚ the auto industry says the taxpayer funding that pads its bottom line serves the greater good‚ intimating that the money for electric vehicle tax credits and charging stations is necessary for protecting the environment and America’s energy future. Maybe American taxpayers eventually will get something meaningful for these outlays; maybe they won’t. But automakers have a responsibility to put public safety above corporate profits‚ especially when those profits are inextricably linked to the generosity of the average Jane and Joe.Unfortunately‚ however‚ a handful of automakers don’t seem to have gotten that memo. They recently sent alarm bells ringing throughout the public safety community by removing AM radios from their new-model vehicles. Yes‚ AM radio is a source of entertainment for tens of millions of people each week‚ but far more importantly‚ it serves as the backbone of America’s National Public Warning System and Emergency Alert System. Because we often lose power‚ and cell networks become overloaded during emergencies‚ AM radio is frequently the last line of defense in ensuring communication with the public. This was the case during the recent Maui wildfires‚ where power was out and virtually all the island’s cell towers went down. Radio was the only way to provide the public with lifesaving information.Earlier this year‚ every former head of FEMA over the previous four administrations wrote to Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and to Congress‚ noting that removing AM radios from cars would present a real threat to public safety. Current FEMA leadership has warned that if the trend by some automakers continues‚ “millions of Americans” could lose access to “lifesaving” information during emergencies. State and local officials‚ including first responders on the ground‚ have repeatedly warned that the auto industry is putting the public in jeopardy by removing AM radio from vehicles. As Sheriff Shaun Golden‚ the public safety official who spearheaded the emergency response to Hurricane Sandy‚ put it‚ “This issue isn’t about a select few automakers taking away a source of entertainment from car buyers. It’s about how‚ if left unchecked‚ the removal of AM radio will undermine the nation’s public warning system and emergency alert system that public safety officials at every level of government depend on to do their jobs.” These public safety concerns have united Congress to act to ensure that the automakers put public safety above corporate profits.A bipartisan coalition led by Senators Ed Markey (D-Mass.) and Ted Cruz (R-Texas) has coalesced behind legislation that would require the auto industry to reverse course and keep AM radio‚ ensuring the integrity of our public safety infrastructure remains intact. Their bill‚ the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act‚ is moving quickly through the House and Senate. While the bill is endorsed widely throughout the public safety community‚ the Alliance for Automotive Innovation‚ the powerful lobbying arm of the auto industry‚ disagrees with America’s public safety experts. In a recent snarky blog post‚ the Alliance begged Congress to reject this bill with “my dog ate my homework”-level reasoning.First‚ the Alliance argued that the legislation is unnecessary for protecting public safety even though FEMA and almost every state emergency management official under the sun has said otherwise. The federal government has spent decades building out the National Public Warning System‚ and the experts clearly believe that without AM‚ the system will no longer work as designed. Then‚ the Alliance claimed that maintaining AM radios would cost too much even though the auto industry has enjoyed tens of billions in taxpayer subsidies. The reality is that the Congressional Budget Office has found there is minimal cost associated with keeping AM radios in cars. In fact‚ most of the Alliance’s automaker members are already opting to keep AM radios in their models‚ which suggests that the cost associated with doing so is in fact minimal. It is amusing how the Alliance can make the case that EV charging stations (which it wants D.C. to pay for) are important for America’s safety and future‚ yet it just as easily dismisses the need to protect something like our public warning infrastructure for the same reasons. Talk about inconsistency. But that is D.C. lobbying for you. Here’s hoping that Congress says enough is enough and prevents corporate boardroom profits from supplanting public safety. Because if there’s one thing money can’t buy‚ it’s that.

Jordan Peterson's latest speech is what we all need to hear: 'I don't know that there was a dry eye in the entire venue'

Listen to Jordan Peterson speak‚ or even watch him in a casual interview‚ and it becomes immediately clear the man is an incredible orator. He’s given a number of powerful speeches over the years‚ but his most recent speech‚ which he delivered at the Alliance for Responsible Citizenship conference — where invitees from over 70 countries‚ including dignitaries‚ politicians‚ and media people — aimed to solve current global issues‚ is perhaps his most stunning speech to date. “I think it was the single best speech I have ever heard Jordan give in my life‚” says Dave Rubin‚ who “toured with Jordan for a year and a half” and helped put on “about 120 shows.” “The speech was just absolutely inspiring; I don't know that there was a dry eye in the entire venue‚” he raves before playing the unedited footage of Peterson’s presentation. The speech covers a range of topics‚ including how identity is the intersection of faith and responsibility‚ what it means for humans to genuinely flourish at the psychological level‚ and the importance of sacrifice and getting outside ourselves in order to serve a higher purpose. Peterson uses beautifully simple analogies to help make sense of the great complexities of the cosmic order and‚ ultimately‚ to help us remember who we are. It’s a tear-jerking‚ inspiring‚ and encouraging message all would benefit from hearing. Check it out below. 5 men arrested after allegedly responding to fake ad for 'sexual services from minors' posted by police

Five men were arrested for allegedly trying to obtain sexual services from a minor after they reportedly responded to a fake ad police had posted online. The Durham Regional Police Service in Ontario‚ Canada‚ revealed that it posted the fake advertisement that offered sexual services from minors as part of a sting operation which resulted in a series of arrests and many charges.Undercover police posted the ad‚ according to Durham Radio News‚ which authorities said was visited more than 6‚600 times in a span of just four days. Police also said they received messages from more than 600 different phone numbers."An ad was published to create the illusion that individuals can purchase sexual services from minors‚" police said‚ according to Global News. Police also posed as minors online as part of the operation as well.Investigators subsequently arrested five men between the ages of 28 and 48 years old‚ laying 15 charges in total.Krish Subiah‚ 37‚ Rajwant Singh‚ 30‚ Mahbubar Rahman‚ 48‚ Sarangan Kirupamoorthy‚ 28‚ and Rajasekaran Natarajan‚ 38‚ were all arrested. All five men were charged with luring a child for the purpose of obtaining sexual services (under 18 years)‚ obtaining sexual services (under 18 years)‚ and invitation to sexual touching (under 16 years). The ad was part of an ongoing initiative called Project Firebird aimed at going after individuals who are looking to obtain sexual services from children‚ CP24 reported. The project also involves supporting victims and potential victims."This project would not be possible without the support of the Ontario government funding to our Children at Risk of Exploitation (CARE) unit‚" police said‚ per Insauga. "Our CARE unit has specialized teams that pair police officers with child protection workers to proactively identify‚ investigate‚ locate‚ and engage children and youth who are at high risk of child sex trafficking."The arrests came a week after a 21-year-old man‚ also in the Toronto‚ Canada‚ area‚ was charged for allegedly sex trafficking a teenage girl. The Toronto Star reported that the teen was forced into the sex trade "while the male exercised control over numerous aspects of her life‚ while profiting from it."A man named Elijah Grey was arrested and charged with human trafficking under 18 years old‚ receiving material benefit under 18 years old‚ advertising sexual services‚ and making child pornography.Like Blaze News?
