Campaign Cover-Up: Networks Duck Racist Sign by Virginia Democrat Activist

On Thursday night, the Virginia gubernatorial race hit a potential turning point when, at a protest outside an Arlington County School Board meeting in which GOP candidate and Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears spoke against children being subjected to sharing changing rooms with transgender individuals, an eldery, white, progressive woman holding a racist sign that read: “Hey Winsome, if trans can’t share your bathroom, then blacks can’t share my water fountain.” Unsurprisingly, this received zero mention Friday on ABC, CBS, and NBC during their flagship morning network news shows. In addition, it never came up on CNN’s various AM programs as well as MSNBC’s Morning Joe. The silence was aided in part by only a paper statement denouncing the sign from the candidate this women ostensibly supports, Democrat Abigail Spanberger.     There were two short nods between the Fox News Channel’s flagship morning show Fox & Friends and its lead-in, Fox & Friends First. On the latter, co-host Todd Piro declared: “And an absolutely disgusting, racist message targeting Virginia Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears at a school board meeting now being met with backlash on both sides of the aisle.” As for the main show, Earle-Sears brought it up near the end of her interview with co-host Brian Kilmeade: [A]nd then last night you saw that they equated bathroom opportunities with me being black in America and here I am, second in command of the former capital of the Confederacy — me, the immigrant whom they say, as Democrats, they love more than anybody. Me, a black woman who they say they love as Democrats more than anybody. This is insane. Kilmeade replied it was “insane” and while Spanberger “did denounce the sign...I would love to see it more public” in “stand[ing] up and say[ing] that’s out of bounds.” “A very weak response from a very weak person who we know cannot lead Virginia as governor. She’s finally come out of hiding when she should have a long time ago came out and defended so many things that are so wrong and she’s been absent,” Earle-Sears replied. As our friend and former NewsBusters intern Greg Price quipped on X: “You just know she was blasting NPR when she made that sign thinking she cooked. Instead, the networks had other priorities, such as ABC’s Good Morning America touting video an alligator swimming with sharks in South Carolina, CBS Mornings showing viral video of an out-of-control front-end loader rolling through traffic in Massachusetts, and NBC’s Today doing a deep dive on anti-aging supplements.

Kimmel's Wife, Writer Molly McNearney Claims Late Night Needed To Vent 'Anger'

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live’s co-head writer, executive producer, and wife of the eponymous host Molly McNearney recently gave an interview with the entertainment news website Gold Derby that was published on Thursday, where she defiantly claimed the late night comedy show format isn’t going anywhere because people (i.e., liberals) still need them to help them make sense of the world. In an article written by Marcus James Dixon, McNearney and fellow writer Jesse Joyce were asked, “The elephant in the room is that The Late Show With Stephen Colbert was canceled just about a month ago. What was your reaction when that news came down?”  McNearney was distraught, “I was very upset. I actually happened to be at a rally in Jackson Hole with Jimmy and our kids, an anti-Trump rally where my kids got flipped-off I think three to four times. And then my phone was buzzing, and I looked down and saw that Colbert's show was canceled, and I was truly devastated by it. And so was Jimmy. We have a deep respect for Stephen Colbert and his entire crew and cast and staff, and I'm really disappointed. Not only is he not going to be on the air, and I think his show is fantastic, the actual whole Late Show is gone. I have real nostalgia, as we all do, for what David Letterman created there. I'm still honestly in a bit of disbelief that it's over.” She also claimed that, “There's never been a more relevant time for late night. I think it is incredibly important, the work that Stephen and his show does, and for that to be missing is going to be detrimental. A lot of people oddly get their news from late night, and right now it's vital that these shows provide a place or outlet of release, frustration, anger, and inspiration every night. What a wild time to be alive. And to have one less voice in that fight is sad. Although, I'm fairly confident Stephen will find a different platform. I can't imagine he's going to go away.” That’s only true if you believe your job as a comedian is to be a sort of therapist helping liberals struggle through a Trump presidency. It is not a recipe for clever wittiness. Kimmel has occasionally brought McNearney in front of the camera to help him make his anti-conservative points. Usually, she is making some bitter point about abortion. She is also the person who thinks that jokes about Hillary Clinton’s pantsuits are just too much, “I was like, ‘What the fuck are you doing? You’re minimizing this woman to her clothes?’ We’d never talk about a man’s outfit.” Meanwhile, back in present day, Dixon asked, “We touched on it earlier, but a lot of people are talking about the future of late-night television, and where things might go from here. Molly, what is your take on that hot topic?”  Kimmel has previously strongly suggested he would choose to retire next year, but McNearney opened the door the possibility he could stay: I think there's a place for late night forever, honestly. People need voices to make us laugh and connect and evaluate the news of the day. I don't think that's going anywhere. The formats and platforms might change a little, but we are here to stay, so we look forward to continuing the work. Also, Jimmy's not moving to Italy. That was taken out of context. We're definitely here to say that. That guy is way too f--king patriotic to ever leave this country. First of all, he has American flag crocs, and 4th of July is his favorite holiday. And also, the guy is a fighter. He would never leave this country. He cares way too deeply about it. Trust me, I've suggested it. He will go nowhere. There are plenty of people out there that can help voters evaluate the news of the day. Jimmy Kimmel isn’t one of them.

Feeding the Leviathan Will Starve Prosperity

Feeding the Leviathan Will Starve Prosperity

The economy can be both very complex and very simple. In simplified terms, consider two buckets. One is the public sector, and one is the private sector. As more money flows into the bucket of the public sector and fills it up, the private sector bucket does not fill up. However, the private sector utilizes money more efficiently and contributes to economic growth for its citizens. As the government leviathan grows, it harms the private sector and, with it, working Americans.  Consider Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Before the financial crisis of 2008, Fannie and Freddie backed 45% of all mortgages. During the crisis, the federal government took over Fannie and Freddie. Combined, they now back over 60% of all mortgages. Add in FHA and VA loans, and the American taxpayer now backs almost 85% of all mortgages in the United States. Should there be another housing crisis, the taxpayers will foot the bill.  It is not just taxpayer liability that matters. Fannie and Freddie now back so many mortgages in the country that lenders have ceased innovation on mortgages. Every mortgage conforms to Fannie and Freddie standards. In some countries, a homeowner who gets a low-interest mortgage on a home can transfer that mortgage to a new home, letting the homeowner keep the same low rate and incentivizing greater flow within the housing market. The CATO Institute and others have noted that Fannie and Freddie, being under government control, have not only stifled innovation in the mortgage industry but have also contributed to the housing crisis.  When the federal government took control of General Motors, GM no longer engaged in risk assessment based on shareholder value and economic value, but in political risk. Because former President Barack Obama was in charge, GM foolishly pushed ahead with now-canceled electric vehicle projects that cost the company more than it made in return. GM, with government control, was able to bypass the claims of bondholders in order to reward the United Auto Workers Union at the insistence of the Obama administration. Small investors who held GM bonds lost out because of the political connections of unions. One of them, Anthony Pitelli, told the press, “This is the kind of stuff you’d expect from a Banana Republic. Not from the United States.” He compared the heavy-handed Obama tactics controlling GM to Hugh Chavez and Venezuela.  Time and time again, when the government gets involved, the leviathan grows, and both the Middle Class and small businesses get the shaft. Innovation stalls, and economic growth slows. Go back to the buckets. As the government issues more debt, more people buy public debt instead of investing in the public sector. The government’s bucket fills up with money that does not go to shareholders, workers, investors, innovation, or growth.  The Trump administration is now bragging that over $150 billion has been generated from tariffs. Some of that comes from American businesses. But some of that comes from American consumers. More of it will come from consumers soon as companies raise prices. That is more money in the government bucket, not the private sector bucket.  There are ways to encourage domestic manufacturing without raising input costs on manufacturers whose raw material prices have increased due to tariffs. There are ways to encourage “Buy American” campaigns without raising prices on consumers.  Now, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick is urging the government to become the largest shareholder of Intel. Some defend it by citing national security reasons, ignoring the government does not own shares in other defense contractors. Others defend it because Trump is in charge, so damn the principle. But like with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, General Motors, etc., all this will do is increase burdens on American taxpayers, decrease efficiency in the private sector, which will slow growth, and put a major American microchip company in the position of doing what the government wants, not what is best for the company.  Americans have had it so good for so long, and we have forgotten why. Most Americans will not remember why until the government takes back over large portions of the economy and our economic growth collapses. Then they will remember that feeding the leviathan starves American prosperity.

Four Myths About DC Crime Busted by Facts

In their efforts to smear President Donald Trump’s recent deployment of federal law enforcement to the Nation’s Capital, legacy media and liberal politicians have been promoting myths about the severity of crime in D.C. and the city’s need for help to keep its citizens safe. Four of these myths – and the facts refuting them – are presented below. Myth: Federal law enforcement is ignoring the high-crime areas of Washington, D.C. Fact:  48% of the non-immigration arrests between August 9-17 took place in high-crime Wards 7 and 8. Myth: Washington, D.C. doesn't have a serious crime problem. Fact: Washington, D.C.'s murder rate is the 4th Highest in the nation and six times higher than that of New York City. Myth: Federal involvement in D.C. policing isn't necessary and won't affect crime in the district. Fact: Violent crime in the Nation’s Capital dropped 22% in the first week of federal police assistance. Myth:  Restaurant business in Washington, D.C., fell dramatically as a result of the deployment of federal law enforcement. Fact:  The same week in 2024 was "Restaurant Week" in Washington, D.C., distorting the comparison to this year.
