A group of 17 hostages — including 13 Israeli citizens and 4 Thai nationals — arrived back in Israel on Saturday after being held hostage for nearly two months by Hamas terrorists. The Hispanic network Univision is getting whacked by liberals. Why? Because they had the temerity to sit down for an interview with the former President of the United States who also happens to be the leading-by-a-lot candidate for the 2024 GOP nomination. That would be‚ of course‚ Donald Trump. On November 9‚ Trump sat down with Enrique Acevedo‚ whom the Los Angeles Times described as “an anchor from Mexican network Televisa who is not a Univision journalist.” After the Trump interview aired the Times headlined:  Outrage against Univision grows after Trump interview Then there was this headline in the socialist UK paper The Guardian:  Trump interview an ‘insult to Hispanic community’‚ ex-Univision head says  Joaquin Blaya condemns recent interview on Spanish-speaking TV network as ‘propaganda’ while John Leguizamo calls for a boycott The Guardian story reports:  A former president of Univision condemned the Spanish-language US television network’s recent interview with Donald Trump as "propaganda" and an "insult to the Hispanic community". To call the Trump [interview] an interview is mistaken‚’ Joaquin Blaya told MSNBC. ‘It was not an interview as we understand [it] in the United States. It was basically a one-hour propaganda open space for former president Trump to say whatever he wanted to say.’ The friendly interview was filmed at the ex-president’s Mar-a-Lago home. Lingering controversy ensued‚ including a call from John Leguizamo‚ the actor and sometime Daily Show host‚ for a Univision boycott. Amid revelations that Univision canceled both ads bought by President Joe Biden (after announcing a surprise policy change) as well as an interview in which a White House official was scheduled to respond‚ a top network anchor resigned.  Speaking to the MSNBC host Rachel Maddow on Monday‚ Blaya lamented ‘a drastic change for what have been the standards of Univision’. ‘When I created the Univision network news [in the 1980s]‚ [it was] built on the principles of American broadcasting journalism‚ the ABC‚ CBS‚ NBC … we were trying to basically create a Spanish but American network‚’ Blaya said. ‘And I say that because there’s a big difference from our association in those days with the news that we’re seeing coming from Mexico.’ Univision recently came under the control of Grupo Televisa‚ a Mexican company. In his interview‚ Trump‚ who famously clashed with the Univision anchor Jorge Ramos during the 2016 election‚ said of the new owners: ‘They like me.’ Stop right there. Notice that statement from the former Univision president Joaquin Blaya - made on the far-left MSNBC to the far -left MSNBC host Rachel Maddow. Blaya‚ without a hint of self-awareness‚ says that:  “When I created the Univision network news [in the 1980s]‚ [it was] built on the principles of American broadcasting journalism‚ the ABC‚ CBS‚ NBC.” Translation? Univision was created to model the left-leaning American broadcast networks. Which are nothing if not leftist propaganda machines. Univision was specifically designed‚ according to its ex-president‚ to be a Spanish-language version of those left-wing propaganda networks.  And now? Now the new leadership of Univision chose to arrange an interview with…..Republican former President Donald Trump. Ohhhhhh‚ the horror. On top of which Blaya accuses Univision and Trump of spreading -- you guessed it -- propaganda. As if he's never watched an American network slobber over Barack and/or Michelle Obama. The Wall Street Journal editorial board picked up on this hilarity‚ heading their editorial: The Democratic Panic Over Univision A Trump interview on a Spanish network breaks a news monoculture. Said the WSJ:  How awful is President Biden’s polling? The Spanish-language TV network Univision is now being pounded for running an interview with Donald Trump that failed to include the type of resistance hostility that Democrats think will shore up Hispanic voters. A network executive might even get called to Capitol Hill. After running through a summary of the Trump interview and what the former President said‚ the WSJ went on to note:  In other words‚ Mr. Acevedo offered the floor to Mr. Trump‚ who ran away with it. But confrontation isn’t the only way journalists try to provoke news. ‘I’m a reporter and my job is to ask questions‚’ Mr. Acevedo later wrote. ‘Information should be the protagonist here.’ In any case‚ the U.S. has a vigorous press‚ and pundits and fact-checkers can go to town on Mr. Trump’s flights of factual nonsense. What’s more troubling is the backlash. Latino groups demanded that Univision do an internal review‚ arguing: ‘Unfiltered‚ unaddressed and unrestricted disinformation does a disservice to all communities in the U.S.’ The Congressional Hispanic Caucus drew up a draft letter‚ the Washington Post says‚ asking a Univision bigwig ‘to meet with members of Congress about the journalistic standards of the network.’  That sounds almost Trumpy in its attempt to intimidate the press. The country doesn’t need politicians demanding that journalists filter and restrict the “disinformation” from a leading candidate for President‚ even if that were possible. And if it’s softball interviews they’re worried about‚ have they seen hosts on MSNBC or CNN question Reps. Jamie Raskin or Adam Schiff? What really alarms Democrats is the fear that they may lose a Spanish-speaking press that operates under a univision of progressive assumptions. For years Mr. Biden’s party has taken Hispanic voters for granted‚ but their loyalty is being stretched as the left abandons traditional cultural values and Bidenomics hurts the middle class. In a recent poll of expected 2024 swing states‚ Mr. Biden’s lead among Hispanics is in single digits.” Bingo. It is not news to note that Democrats view the Hispanic community not as a diverse‚ thoughtful community but rather as the political property of progressives. In which  contrary thought to the progressive mindset is not allowed. Univision‚ in that mindset‚ was built to be on the liberal plantation. And with this Trump interview the network had the audacity to step off of that plantation. The all-American holiday season is now officially upon us. Serious politics will emerge once past the Christmas rush. But come the New Year and the advent of the 2024 presidential election‚ the battle from liberal media to claim political ownership to Hispanics will be on‚ and on big time. The torrent of rage aimed at Univision for doing this Trump interview‚ as with the recent CNN sit-down with Trump‚ is in reality a clear signal that the far left believes they own the media - and have a birthright to it. Newsflash? They don’t. So in a media environment that has inclusively expanded to include conservative outlets like Fox‚ Newsmax‚ talk radio and sites like NewsBusters‚  the battle by the left to silence Trump or any other Republican who might emerge as the GOP nominee is on.

Anyone who watches the broadcast and cable TV networks all the time (like we do) knows how much they are still pumping a Trump outrage machine. On some days‚ it’s President Biden who is barely mentioned‚ while the former president’s indictments and scandals dominate. But The New York Times is channeling how “Democrats Want Trump Plastered All Over the News.”  On Wednesday‚ political reporter Reid Epstein summarized the Democrat mindset: Criticizing the news media for giving Mr. Trump a platform is out. Quietly pining for major networks to again broadcast live coverage of Trump campaign rallies is in. Behind the improbable longing for the former president to gobble up political oxygen again is Democrats’ yearslong dependence on the Trump outrage machine. Since his ascent‚ Mr. Trump has been a one-man Democratic turnout operation‚ uniting an otherwise fractured opposition and fueling victories in three straight election cycles. Now‚ Democrats worry that the fever of Trump fatigue has passed‚ and that some voters are softening toward a man they once loathed.  So after two years of pounding away with a January 6 Committee‚ we're supposed to believe Trump's so-called authoritarian bent has been fading from media view?? They're actually trying to claim Trump is an absentee from the presidential campaign so far:  Mr. Trump‚ who has never been called a shrinking violet‚ has nevertheless skipped the three Republican presidential debates and stayed away from the major social media platforms. He is expected to spend large parts of next year in criminal trials that‚ except for one in Georgia‚ will not be televised. Epstein worries that "it is far from certain that he will sabotage himself politically‚" and the trials may not damage his standing. This is what happens when polls show Trump narrowly leading Biden. It must be the media's fault for underplaying the perils of Trump....and the Biden campaign since "His campaign has little to show for a $40 million advertising push promoting his economic record." Yeah‚ that's because it's like Jimmy Carter's economic record. Ads just put lipstick on a muddy pig.  We can all giggle a little when Epstein laments that "Mr. Biden and Democrats‚ of course‚ cannot control decisions that news organizations make or the topics that absorb voters in person and on social media." Compared to what? Well‚ Epstein finds voters who voted for Biden and are now favoring Trump‚ and downplaying the scandals. So the pro-Biden media apparently has been too weak on Trump‚ always too weak:  Those sorts of sentiments have left the Biden campaign this past week to engage in its own media criticism‚ publicly urging news shows on network television to follow New York Times articles about Mr. Trump’s plans for immigration and deportation policies if he wins the election. So The New York Times is announcing in its own newspaper that it's so synonymous with the Biden messaging apparatus that Team Biden is urging the networks to copy them. Then the rest of the article is more Democrats pretending the media are barely covering Trump‚ like this one:  Donna Brazile‚ a veteran Democratic strategist‚ said Mr. Biden’s decision to stay quiet had allowed Mr. Trump to frame the cases against him as “a one-sided conversation.” “We have not engaged on perhaps Donald Trump’s No. 1 Achilles’ heel‚ which is the 91 indictments‚” she said. “We’ll see what happens when we do.” Aside from the trials‚ Democrats are longing for the days when cable networks carried Mr. Trump’s rallies live. To watch a Trump rally live now‚ viewers need to find an online stream or a fringy far-right cable station like Newsmax. Democrats and their media allies "have not engaged" on the indictments? WRONG! Rich Noyes found 320 minutes of coverage of Trump legal problems just on the evening newscasts of ABC‚ CBS‚ and NBC. His rivals can barely get in a televised word edgewise! His coverage is 93 percent negative‚ and these people somehow believe the networks are going soft!

Wisconsin police described the "house of horrors‚" where two young boys escaped from‚ as the "worst they've ever seen." The children were reportedly imprisoned in a home with mounds of trash‚ a urine smell‚ and feces all over the walls. As Blaze News previously reported‚ residents notified police after witnessing two young boys running naked in the neighborhood. The boys‚ ages seven and nine‚ were allegedly covered in feces‚ dirt‚ blood‚ and bruises.The boys allgedly informed investigators that they had been locked inside their house in Milwaukee and only managed to escape by smashing a window. Katie Koch‚ 34‚ and Joel Manke‚ 38‚ were arrested in July. They are each facing multiple felony charges‚ including false imprisonment and neglect. They each face up to 43 years in prison and fines of as much as $120‚000 if convicted of the crimes. Koch also faces two misdemeanor charges that carry a prison sentence of 18 months and a $20‚000 fine. Shocking details about the "house of horrors" were revealed this week. The appalling 72-page police report detailed how the children were detained in inhumane conditions. An officer said in the police report‚ "I entered the living and observed a terrible hoarding situation — it was hard to see the floor. The smell of urine and feces stained the air within the residence."There were mounds of garbage that reached 5 feet high in the kitchen. The house also allegedly had bugs "flying all around." The Messenger reported‚ "While attempting to make their way through the home‚ the officer noted seeing a 'mound of trash and garbage' next to the children's room‚ which they entered."The officer recalled‚ "The door was opened halfway‚ and a greater amount of the stench of urine and feces seemed to get worse as I approached the children's room."The children's room allegedly had boarded-up windows and a latch attached outside the door to prevent the children from escaping. "There was what appeared to feces on the floor and all over the walls‚" an officer stated. "I entered the living room and observed a terrible hoarding situation – it was hard to see the floor."Police allegedly noted that the house was "the worst they've ever seen." Police also pointed out that Manke's "man cave" in the basement was not as filthy as the rest of the home. "[It was] treated in a higher amount of respect and cleanliness compared to the children's living conditions in their bedroom‚" an officer said. Express reported‚ "Investigators believe the boys had been living in filth for years‚ as they weren't toilet trained and hadn't had a haircut or seen a doctor since 2019."During an interrogation‚ Koch and Manke reportedly told investigators that they often locked the young boys in the bedroom at night. Koch attempted to justify the practice by saying that her parents did the same with her when she was a child. Police wrote in the report that Koch had a "scent of mildew and musk." A detective noted that Koch "appeared to have a poor skin tone‚ flushed face" and was "tired and run down."Authorities said that Manke called his parents after being arrested‚ and his mother expressed to him that she was "in shock" after walking through the hoarding house. Manke – who is not the boys' biological father – claimed that he had no idea of the horrid conditions that the children lived in. I also thought the recent RPG duology‚ the Obsidian-developed Fractured But Hole and Stick of Truth‚ were excellent‚ staying light on complexity‚ high on humour‚ and marking the first time where the quality bar of a South Park game actually matched an episode of the show.
