Taylor Swift donated $100‚000 to the family of the woman who was killed during a Wednesday mass shooting at the celebratory parade for the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl win. The “Elizabeth Lopez-Galvan Memorial” GoFundMe page was set up Thursday afternoon with a goal of raising $75‚000 for the victim’s family. Lopez-Galvan‚ 44‚ was killed after being struck in her abdomen by a gunshot at the parade. She was a wedding DJ and also co-hosted a radio program in Kansas City‚ per Variety.  Around 1‚300 people had already donated when Swift made two $50‚000 donations in the early morning hours on Friday. The Grammy Award-winning singer is currently on a tour stop in Australia. “Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss. With love‚ Taylor Swift‚” Swift wrote in a note accompanying the donations. Her rep confirmed to the outlet that the donations are real. “This fund has been set up to benefit the family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan‚” the GoFundMe page said.  “Lisa was celebrating the Chiefs’ Super Bowl Victory parade when senselessly killed. She is survived by two children and her husband of 22 years. She was an amazing mother‚ wife‚ daughter‚ sister‚ aunt‚ cousin‚ and friend to so many. We ask that you continue to keep her family in your prayers as we grieve the loss of her life. This fund will help provide vital financial support to her family as they process this unthinkable tragedy. Any amount is appreciated.” Thanks to Swift’s donations and the resulting attention to the GoFundMe request‚ the fund was up to just over $197‚000 as of Friday morning.  Multiple people were shot‚ including eleven children between the ages of 6 and 15‚ and Lopez-Galvan was killed when gunfire erupted at the parade. The Central Intelligence Agency manipulated intelligence information to make it look like Russia wanted Donald Trump to win the 2016 presidential election despite having more credible information showing that Russia wanted Hillary Clinton to win‚ according to a new report.  The effort to manipulate the information was headed up by John Brennan‚ Obama’s CIA director‚ who disregarded evidence that the Russians preferred Clinton because she was more predictable and highlighted questionable evidence claiming Russia favored Trump‚ sources told independent journalists Matt Taibbi‚ Michael Shellenberger‚ and Alex Gutentag.  “They cooked the intelligence‚” a source close to a House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) investigation into the Trump-Russia scandal told the journalists. “They made it look like Putin supported Trump.”  The U.S. government said in January 2017 that Russia favored Trump as president. But now‚ sources reveal for the first time that the CIA "cooked the intelligence" to hide that Vladamir Putin wanted Hillary Clinton‚ not Donald Trump‚ as president. pic.twitter.com/WFJsW1erqb — Michael Shellenberger (@shellenberger) February 15‚ 2024 The source said that the evidence pointed the other way‚ showing Russia wanted Clinton to win because “it was a relationship they were comfortable with.” According to the source‚ the CIA had evidence showing Russia viewed Trump as “unreliable‚” “mercurial‚” and “not steady‚” while viewing Clinton as “manageable and reflecting continuity.” HPSCI looked further into the sourcing of the claims from Brennan and the Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA) that Russia wanted Trump and found contradictory information. “We looked at the report and the sourcing they used to evaluate the sourcing‚” a source said. “When we dug further to look at the data available to them that they didn’t use‚ and it overwhelmingly contradicted their conclusions that Russia supported Trump.” According to a source‚ Brennan and other intelligence agents “embellished” their Trump-Russia report by changing the categorization of sources that said Russia wanted Trump from unreliable to reliable.  CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP Shellenberger told Fox News host Jesse Watters on Thursday that there was a 50-page report exposing the operation that the CIA “is currently hiding at its headquarters.” According to Shellenberger‚ the controversy highlights two major intelligence scandals.  “The first one happened earlier in 2016‚ where our sources‚ multiple sources‚ tell us that Brennan oversaw the manipulation of our foreign allies to basically entrap Trump associates to create the pretext for the FBI investigation of Trump’s alleged collusion with Russia which is now debunked‚” he said. “The second thing is almost a year later Brennan orchestrates a phony intelligence assessment that comes to the opposite conclusion of what their own raw intelligence‚ their best intelligence was showing‚” he added.  Trump was reportedly preparing to declassify information on the efforts to tie his campaign to Russia before leaving office but was unable to do so before President Joe Biden took office.

Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny‚ 47‚ died Friday in a remote prison‚ according to Russian authorities. His sudden death comes less than three years after President Joe Biden warned Vladimir Putin that Russia would see “devastating” consequences if the Putin critic died in Russian custody.  After meeting with the Russian president in Geneva in June 2021‚ Biden was asked if he and Putin discussed Navalny’s imprisonment and what would happen if Navalny were to die in prison. “I made it clear to him that I believe the consequences of that would be devastating for Russia‚” Biden said. The president didn’t specify what the “consequences” would be‚ but added‚ “What do you think happens when he’s saying it’s not about hurting Navalny‚ all the stuff he says to rationalize the treatment of Navalny‚ and then he dies in prison?… It’s about trust. It’s about their ability to influence other nations in a positive way.” White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said Friday morning that Navalny’s death is a “terrible tragedy.” “Given the Russian government’s long and sordid history of doing harm to its opponents‚ it raises real and obvious questions about what happened here‚” he said. Biden has yet to respond to news of Navalny’s death as of Friday morning. Navalny‚ a frequent critic of Putin‚ felt sick after going on a walk on Friday and soon after lost consciousness and died‚ according to Russia’s Federal Penitentiary Service. Navalny alleged that the Putin regime poisoned him in the past‚ and in 2020‚ he traveled to Germany to recover from nerve agent poisoning. In January 2021‚ Navalny was arrested upon his return to Moscow from Germany‚ and had been in prison ever since.  The U.S. determined in March 2021 that the Russian government used a chemical weapon against Navalny‚ and House Republicans sent a letter to Biden‚ asking him to “impose the legally-mandated second round of sanctions as required by the U.S. Chemical and Biological Weapons Control and Warfare Elimination Act of 1991 (‘CBW Act’) to hold the Putin regime accountable for its continued use of chemical weapons and flagrant disregard for international norms and fundamental rights.” The Russian opposition leader was also critical of Putin’s invasion of Ukraine‚ which was launched in February 2022. Navalny — who was already in prison at the start of the Russia-Ukraine war for charges of embezzlement and contempt of court — was sentenced to an additional nine-year term less than a month after the war began.  In 2011‚ Navalny founded the Anti-Corruption Foundation‚ which published investigations alleging corruption by senior Russian officials‚ and 10 years later the foundation was dissolved. Throughout his time behind bars‚ Navalny held that his charges and convictions were politically motivated. A Tennessee sheriff’s deputy who went missing Wednesday night after making his first arrest was found dead on Thursday‚ hours after his patrol car was recovered from the Tennessee River. Deputy Robert “R.J.” Leonard texted his wife a single word – “arrest” – around 10:00 p.m. Wednesday evening‚ NBC News reported. Just before he texted her‚ he notified dispatchers that he had arrested someone and was taking them to the Meigs County Jail‚ District Attorney General Russell Johnson said at a press conference Thursday morning. About 12 minutes after Leonard contacted dispatchers about the arrest‚ he again reached out and said something that couldn’t be determined over the radio. Authorities‚ using analytics‚ said Leonard maybe have said “water.” Leonard’s wife received his text message‚ but he never received her response. Authorities used the wife’s Life360 location-sharing app data to help investigators find Leonard‚ after he failed to respond to a status check from dispatch. On Thursday‚ Leonard’s patrol car was pulled from the Tennessee River near the Blythe Ferry boat ramp‚ Johnson said at a press conference Thursday afternoon. The patrol car was found upside down in the river‚ with a female body covered in mud in the back seat. The woman has not been identified‚ but is believed to be the person Leonard had arrested and was escorting to the county jail. The trunk of the vehicle had been blown open due to the pressure‚ and the driver’s side window was rolled down. Leonard was not in the vehicle‚ but his body was found later‚ though it is unclear where his remains were found or what condition they were in. He has been taken to the Knoxville Regional Medical Examiner’s Office‚ the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said on X Thursday night. “We’re operating under the theory that it was an accident‚ he missed his turn‚ he wasn’t familiar‚ and he was doing other things that may have caused him to go into the water‚” Johnson said at his afternoon press conference. “There’s some skid marks and some scratch marks‚ too. The non-profit National Multiple Sclerosis Society defended its decision to oust a 90-year-old volunteer because she “did not understand pronouns.” The organization released a statement on Thursday addressing the controversy and reaffirmed its decision to part ways with the elderly volunteer‚ who had worked with them for 60 years prior to being let go. “Recently‚ a volunteer‚ Fran Itkoff‚ was asked to step away from her role because of statements that were viewed as not aligning with our policy of inclusion‚” the statement said. “Fran has been a valued member of our volunteer team for more than 60 years.” “We believe that our staff acted with the best of intentions and did their best to navigate a challenging issue. As an organization‚ we are in a continued conversation about assuring that our diversity‚ equity and inclusion policies evolve in service of our mission‚ and will reach out to Fran in service of this goal‚” the statement added. The former volunteer said she received an email claiming she had failed to “abide by [the MS Society’s] Diversity‚ Equity‚ and Inclusion guidelines‚” which resulted in her being asked to step away from her position. Itkoff told LOTT creator Chaya Raichik that it all had to do with pronoun usage.  “I was confused. I didn’t know what it was and what it meant‚” Itkoff said of being asked to incorporate pronouns into her email signature. “I had seen it on a couple of letters that had come in after the person’s name. But I didn’t know what that meant‚” she continued. “So when I finally talked to [a colleague]‚ I asked what does it mean… And she said that it meant they were all-inclusive‚ which didn’t make sense to me. Because it sounds like you are labeling for females‚ not males‚ if you are just putting in she/her.” The 90-year-old California resident said she was asked to step down a few days later. “I was completely shocked‚” she said of her dismissal. “I couldn’t believe that … I had to read it a couple of times to see if I’m getting what she said.”
