NY Times: 30-Year Mortgages Are “Strange” And Bad For You

The New York Times has decided‚ as have most leftists‚ that things that are good for you are bad. Among those things is the 30-year fixed mortgage‚ which enables a lot of people to get mortgages who wouldn’t have been able to afford it‚ but the New York Times says it fosters inequality and is […] The post NY Times: 30-Year Mortgages Are “Strange” And Bad For You appeared first on www.independentsentinel.com.

Weekend Media Wrap‚ Vol. 18: What You Missed If You Weren’t Glued To The Sunday Shows

Every Sunday morning‚ legacy media outlets are taken over by elected officials‚ aspiring elected officials‚ administration insiders‚ and the usual collection of talking heads — all of whom are there to discuss specific policies‚ push talking points‚ or simply promote their own campaigns. For those who don’t spend their Sunday mornings glued to the television — and their Sunday afternoons attempting to unravel a full week’s worth of network and cable news media spin — The Daily Wire has compiled a short summary of what you may have missed. ABC News‚ “This Week”: During a panel discussion on ABC’s “This Week‚” The New York Times’ David Sanger noted the impact of President Joe Biden’s response to the ongoing war between Israel and the terrorist group‚ Hamas‚ that was responsible for the deaths of more than 1‚400 Israelis during the brutal October 7th massacre. Biden’s decision thus far to continue to support Israel — as the United States has always done — has put him at odds with members of his own party. His response‚ Sanger explained‚ represents “the first foreign policy issue where we have seen the president split with completely the progressive wing of his own party.” Pres. Biden’s response to Israel-Hamas conflict is “the first foreign policy issue where we have seen the president split with completely the progressive wing of his own party‚” New York Times correspondent @SangerNYT tells @MarthaRaddatz. https://t.co/6z5lMEDxX6 pic.twitter.com/bRGV90N8vj — This Week (@ThisWeekABC) November 19‚ 2023 CBS News‚ “Face the Nation”: Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) told CBS anchor Margaret Brennan that he was both “pro-Israel” and “pro-Palestinian” during an appearance on “Face the Nation.” Van Hollen also expressed disappointment that Biden’s push for a two-state solution — a proposal that has been repeatedly rejected by the Palestinian side — was not met with a more enthusiastic response. "You can be both pro-Israel‚ as I am‚ and also pro-Palestinian and support Palestinian rights‚" Sen. @ChrisVanHollen (D-MD) says‚ adding that he was "disappointed" to see Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "smack down President Biden's call for a two-state solution." pic.twitter.com/BEF5vxxZE4 — Face The Nation (@FaceTheNation) November 19‚ 2023 CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILY WIRE APP CNN‚ “State of the Union”: CNN anchor Jake Tapper pressed Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) on the anti-semitic left-wing protesters who surrounded the Democratic National Committee headquarters‚ forcing a lockdown‚ who violently clashed with police. “At another rally just down the street from here at Union Station‚ crowds were chanting from the river to the sea‚ long live the intifada. What do you make of this as a as a Jewish-American‚ a proud progressive‚ a Democrat? There’s anti-Semitism in the Democratic Party these days‚” Tapper said. Raskin appeared to wave off the criticism of his party‚ saying‚ “There’s anti-semitism everywhere these days.” Raskin went on to say that he had been disappointed to see those protests‚ adding‚ “I mean‚ I’m glad that they’re young people who are taking an interest in peace and social justice. And those people I encourage.” “But for those who are somehow tempted to engage in pushing and shoving like‚ you know‚ Kevin McCarthy in Congress‚ but doing it outside‚ I’m totally opposed to that‚” he continued‚ taking a shot at the former House Speaker after claims that he had gotten physical with another House member. “They should study the history of nonviolent movements in America‚ like the women’s movement‚ the civil rights movement‚ the LGBTQ movement‚ the environmental movement that have been the great civilizing movements of our time and of American history that have transformed things. And that does work better than violence.” CHECK OUT THE DAILY WIRE BLACK FRIDAY SHOPPING GUIDE CNN's Jake Tapper Confronts Jamie Raskin About Protesters Outside DNC HQ: 'There's Anti-Semitism in the Democratic Party These Days' https://t.co/8jCDK80z9q — Mediaite (@Mediaite) November 19‚ 2023 NBC News‚ “Meet the Press”: NBC national political correspondent Steve Kornacki joined host Kristen Welker to break down the most recent NBC News poll on “Meet the Press” — and he described a “sea change” in the difference between President Joe Biden’s approval ratings at the beginning of 2023 compared to his current ratings. Kornacki noted that the new poll — which showed Biden’s overall approval at 40% and his disapproval at 57% — marked the lowest rating for the president on NBC poll. In early 2023‚ Biden had an approval rating of 46% and a disapproval rating of 50% — meaning that he was only underwater by 4% at the beginning of the year‚ compared to 17% in the current poll. President Biden’s standing has new lows in the NBC News poll amid the Israel-Hamas war. @SteveKornacki explains. pic.twitter.com/MKKqWqdx37 — Meet the Press (@MeetThePress) November 19‚ 2023 FOX‚ “Fox News Sunday”: Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo joined “Fox News Sunday” anchor Shannon Bream to discuss the ongoing situation in Israel — and the way in which some elected leaders in the United States have reacted to it — and he responded specifically to comments made by Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) about sending aid to Israel. “We’re done supporting and funding this violence‚” Tlaib said‚ holding up Israel’s targeted response to Hamas as somehow equivalent to Hamas’ outright massacre that killed more than 1‚400 — most of them civilians‚ and some of them children. “We’re done watching children being pulled out of the rubble‚ blood coming down their faces. We’re tired of allowing‚ you know‚ folks to be able to think that the answer to war crimes on October 7th was more war crimes.” Pompeo’s response was simple: “The singular best way to protect the people that are living in the Gaza Strip is the destruction and the annihilation of Hamas. That’s pretty straightforward‚ and it should be done as quickly as possible. The lives that they’ve lived in the last years‚ sitting under a terrorist government‚ have not been good. The fact that Israel’s now determined to do it is both decent and moral and good for the people living there‚ good for the people of Israel‚ and great for the United States of America as well.” WATCH: Former Secretary of State @MikePompeo reacts to the Biden-XI summit. pic.twitter.com/toEULxVY2m — Fox News Sunday (@FoxNewsSunday) November 19‚ 2023 MSNBC‚ “Inside With Jen Psaki”: Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) told former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki that there should never be conditions on aid to Israel — conditions that some in his own party‚ namely Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY)‚ have called for — but then said that the United States should “use” the longstanding relationship with Israel to “press” leaders toward considering the global impact of their next steps. Calling Israel the United States’ “best partner‚” Goldman added‚ “There should never be conditioning of aid to Israel … Our support for Israel must be unconditional‚ and we should never put actual specific conditions on any aid that goes there. We should however‚ as we are doing‚ use our relationship with Israel to press them to do the necessary things for the good of not only Israel but also the broader Middle East &; the global community.” .@RepDanGoldman: "There should never be conditioning of aid to Israel… We should however‚ as we are doing‚ use our relationship with Israel to press them to do the necessary things for the good of not only Israel but also the broader Middle East &; the global community." pic.twitter.com/F9gssrt7Ea — Inside with Jen Psaki (@InsideWithPsaki) November 19‚ 2023

Republican Attorney General Says He’s Looking Into Media Matters After Musk Threatens Lawsuit

Missouri Republican Attorney General Andrew Bailey said Sunday that he was looking into accusations that leftist outlet Media Matters for America intentionally misled readers about X to pressure advertisers to pull support from the social media platform.  Bailey’s statement came after X owner Elon Musk said on Saturday that he would file a lawsuit against Media Matters over a report it ran last week that claimed X was placing ads for major corporations alongside Nazi-related content. As a result of the report‚ major corporations like Apple and IBM announced they would be pulling advertising from X. Musk said the report was misleading and intended to undermine X’s commitment to free speech. Musk said that Media Matters had created a “contrived” experience by using an alternate account to curate what posts appeared on the timeline. “Once they curated their feed‚ they repeatedly refreshed their timelines to find a rare instance of ads serving next to the content they chose to follow‚” Musk said.  Bailey said his team was “looking into this matter” in response to a post from Musk commenting on former Trump advisor Stephen Miller’s allegation that what Media Matters did was a civil and criminal violation. My team is looking into this matter. — Attorney General Andrew Bailey (@AGAndrewBailey) November 19‚ 2023 “Great!‚” Musk responded to Bailey.  The Daily Wire reached out to Bailey’s office for further clarification on his comments.  According to Musk‚ the Media Matters report misrepresented X’s advertising practices. He said X logs indicated that of the 5.5 billion ad impressions on the day Media Matters pulled its research‚ less than 50 were served alongside the content highlighted by the leftist organization. For one “brand showcased in the article‚ two of its ads served adjacent to 2 posts‚ 3 times‚ and that ad was only seen in that setting by one user‚ the author of the Media Matters article‚” Musk said.  CHECK OUT THE DAILY WIRE BLACK FRIDAY SHOPPING GUIDE Corporations quickly responded to the Media Matters report. Warner Bros. Discovery‚ Comcast/NBCUniversal‚ Lionsgate‚ and Paramount Global announced they were pausing ads on the social media platform. Musk has faced accusations of anti-Semitism and allowing Nazi-themed posts on X.  On Sunday‚ Musk responded to the allegations.  “This past week‚ there were hundreds of bogus media stories claiming that I am antisemitic. Nothing could be further from the truth. I wish only the best for humanity and a prosperous and exciting future for all‚” Musk said on Sunday.

Former President Clinton’s Misdirected Tribute Sparks Reflection on Political Legacies

In a recent turn of events that has caught the attention of many‚ former President Bill Clinton‚ at the age of 77‚ made an unexpected blunder. In an attempt to honor ex-First Lady Rosalynn Carter‚ President Clinton inadvertently released a tribute meant for the late Senator Dianne Feinstein. This incident has prompted a broader discussion on the importance of political figures and their enduring impact on American society. The mistake by the former President serves as a reminder of the human element in our political discourse. Even the most experienced statesmen are not immune to errors‚ and this instance highlights the need for grace and understanding in our assessment of public servants. It also underscores the significance of commemorating those who have dedicated their lives to serving the nation. Bill Clinton just goofed. pic.twitter.com/sXsQ0FcFX9 — Old Row (@OldRowOfficial) November 20‚ 2023 Senator Feinstein’s legacy is one that has been marked by decades of service. As a leading figure in American politics‚ her contributions have shaped policy and influenced the direction of the country. The accidental tribute‚ while unintended‚ brings to light the respect and recognition she garnered from peers across the political spectrum. The incident also casts a spotlight on the enduring influence of Rosalynn Carter‚ a former First Lady whose advocacy for mental health and humanitarian efforts continue to resonate. Her partnership with her husband‚ former President Jimmy Carter‚ exemplified a commitment to public service and philanthropy that transcends political boundaries. EXCLUSIVE: On April 27‚ 2015‚ Inside Edition spoke with Jeffrey Epstein’s air hostess Chauntae Davis and filmed footage of his infamous Loits Express jet. I was able to recover this interview. They spoke on Bill Clinton‚ Chris Tucker‚ and Kevin Spacey’s trip to Africa with… pic.twitter.com/wHwCj8Wphe — Dom Lucre | Breaker of Narratives (@dom_lucre) November 14‚ 2023 As we reflect on the careers of these distinguished individuals‚ it is essential to consider the values they represented. Dedication‚ resilience‚ and a desire to effect positive change are qualities that define the American spirit. These leaders‚ through their various roles‚ have embodied these ideals and left an indelible mark on the fabric of our nation. The inadvertent tribute also raises questions about the nature of political communication in the digital age. In a time when information can be disseminated rapidly and widely‚ the potential for miscommunication is high. This serves as a cautionary tale for public figures to exercise diligence and precision in their public statements. Moreover‚ the mix-up invites a conversation about the role of elder statesmen in contemporary politics. As senior figures in the political landscape‚ former Presidents and other retired officials hold a unique position of influence. Their words and actions carry weight‚ and their endorsements or criticisms can sway public opinion and policy debates. This occurrence may also lead to introspection within the conservative community. It provides an opportunity to evaluate how conservative principles can guide respectful discourse and honor the contributions of political adversaries. Recognizing the achievements of those with differing ideologies can strengthen the foundation of bipartisan cooperation. In the aftermath of this incident‚ it is crucial to remember the broader context of a politician’s career. While a single misstep can capture headlines‚ it is the cumulative work and the policies enacted that define a legacy. The focus should remain on the substantive impact these leaders have had on American life. Lastly‚ as we navigate the complexities of political engagement‚ let us not lose sight of the common goals that unite us. Regardless of party affiliation‚ the pursuit of a more prosperous‚ just‚ and free society is a shared aspiration. In honoring the legacies of those who have served‚ we reaffirm our commitment to these enduring principles.
