WATCH: ‘Landman’ Star Jon Hamm Sings Luke Combs, Garth Brooks & More At Live Band Karaoke In Chicago
Putting on a SHOW.
The award-winning actor and St. Louis native, Jon Hamm, was in enemy territory to close the book on 2024 and ring in the new year. He attended the Wrigley Field Winter Classic matchup between his hometown St. Louis Blues and the pathetic excuse for a hockey team, the Chicago Blackhawks.

And after the kind of whooping his Blues put on my Blackhawks at the iconic Wrigley Field on New Year's Eve, Jon must've been feeling pretty damn good leaving the stadium. I love you Conner Bedard, but all of Chicago sports are a disaster right now... it's embarrassing.
Anyways, it seems as though Jon stuck around town for the holiday and made his way from The Friendly Confines down to Bub City on New Year's Day. Bub City is a popular BBQ and country music joint in the city's River North area, a spot that me and Steve (Whiskey Riff founder and CEO) spent many a drunken night at in the early days of Whiskey Riff. Hell, I left there one night at two in the morning and walked straight into a tattoo parlor... walked out with a tattoo on my ribs. True story...
The live music is great (one of the few places downtown where you can get good, un-ticketed live music), the BBQ is great, the whiskey list is pretty extensive, but I'm telling you what... don't sleep on the cheeseburger. In my 16 years of living in Chicago, it's one of the best I've ever had... and yeah, I've been to Au Cheval.
But back to Jon... the Landman star wasn't afraid to get on stage for a little Wednesday night live band karaoke (the best kind of karaoke, right?) and celebrated New Year's Day with a bunch of country music hits from Luke Combs, Garth Brooks, and even Shaboozey's viral hit "A Bar Song (Tipsy)." He also threw in a little Neil Diamond for good measure.
My man was having a TIME:

Gotta love it.
Of course, we all know Jon Hamm as Don Draper in the Emmy & Golden Globe-winning series Mad Men, a show that I, and many others, would say is a Top 5 all-time great television show. But more recently, Jon has garnered attention for his role as "Monty" in the new Taylor Sheridan drama Landman. One of the hottest shows on television right now and another win from the Yellowstone creator, Landman also stars Billy Bob Thornton, Ali Larter, Michelle Randolph, and Demi Moore, who plays Hamm's wife in the show.
If you haven't had a chance to check it out, you can find it on Paramount+, where it streams new episodes every Sunday.
Here's a scene where Hamm's character goes off on some oil executives who are concerned about big oil's reputation among the general public. In short, Hamm's character says.... who cares?

But to bring this all full circle, Landman also features some of the best country music on the planet. We're talking Turnpike Troubadours, Zach Bryan, Brent Cobb, Red Clay Strays, Whiskey Myers... and even the aforementioned Shaboozey. And we have all the great music from Season 1 so far, right in one place, available on Apple Music and Spotify.
