Evil On the Prowl

Everything has a political angle now. The Left gets worked up by a jeans ad. The Right gets worked up by Cracker Barrel removing both the cracker and the barrel from their logo. Red and blue, colors on the light spectrum and in nature, are now political. A 23-year-old transgender gunman killing children is political. The prayers offered are maligned as useless. It is all political. My radio show is, when aired live, midday. I intended to talk about the Democrats and crime and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnik convincing President Donald Trump we need 600,000 Chinese students in our universities. I had a humorous soundbite from Secretary of State Marco Rubio begging Trump to issue an executive order banning Saturday weddings during college football season. Instead of all that, I had to narrate over an evil act. While that was happening, my daughter, in college, was texting. She was barricaded in a classroom with an active shooter on her college campus. The students had moved a chair to the door handle to make it difficult to open, and were contemplating moving the bookcases. Unlike the events in Minnesota, the events on her college campus were inspired by a phone call that turned out to be fake. A series of such calls has plagued college campuses around the nation in the past week. Through it all, news of the shooter came out. He had transitioned to female. He had used a picture of Jesus as target practice. He had written “where is your God now” on the gun magazine and “kill Donald Trump” on the barrel. He was depraved. He became another transgender shooter at a Christian school, having barricaded the children into a church at mass and begun firing through the windows. I gave the mayor of Minneapolis a pass for scoffing at people offering prayers. Children in his city just died. He was under stress, and his emotions were raw. People online excoriated him. He needed some grace to grieve and be angry. I gave him no such pass when, in the evening, he went on CNN to condemn those who might attack the transgender community. Were the shooter a Trump supporter, you and I both know he would be blasting the president and his supporters. The lieutenant governor of Minnesota, just a year ago, wore a trans-rights T-shirt with a knife on it that implied using violence against those who oppose the trans-community. The transgender murderer had a sticker on his manifesto implying the use of violence to defend the trans community. Online, Democrats yelled that Republicans have blood on their hands for not passing gun control. Republicans yelled that Democrats had normalized violent mentally ill people. I have my own political opinions on the matter, which I hold to strongly, but should we not first pray? Should we not first cry? Should we not first grieve? I actually blame former President Barack Obama for our turn to political screaming matches. As president, when Sandy Hook happened, he used his time addressing a nation in mourning to assail Republicans and demand gun control. He gave license to others to immediately drag politics over the still-warm bodies of dead kids. Democrats claim to offer solutions, but they are unworkable. Republicans, instead of talking about gun control, talk about mental health. In truth, neither side has a real solution. Politics has no solution for evil. No legislation solves spiritual problems. Guns will not be confiscated. Parents and states that support the transition of children will never admit they were wrong. Jesus weeps, and the tribes argue over who has more blood on their hands and which laws should be enacted or not. The church has the only real answer. But Americans have moved beyond the church and worship at the altar of politics now. Even many self-professed Christians prefer social media tirades to quiet prayer and commitment to seeking the welfare of their community. The people of God, in the moment of crisis, have the gospel to confront evil. It is the only solution, and it is far better deployed in grace and love and truth than in political harangues as children lie dying, fallen in the path of evil. The Media Jumps To Defend Trump-Fired Bureaucrats

It’s probably safe to say that unless they were a serious Washington insider, most Americans had never heard the names of Center for Disease Control Director Susan Monarez and Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook. Until, that is, now. Both Ms. Monarez and Ms. Cook are now in the media’s headlines because both have been fired by President Donald Trump. On the surface, the two have nothing in common. The CDC and the Federal Reserve are two considerably different institutions, with one, as its name indicates, focused on disease control and the physical health of Americans, while the other is all about the economy and American finances. But in fact - not that you would know this from the liberal media - the CDC and the Federal Reserve do in fact have something very much in common. Both institutions are filled with federal government employees whose first loyalty is to left-leaning politics, the federal government and its bureaucracy - not to the elected President of the United States of the moment. Most particularly does this apply to President Trump, he the decidedly “Outsider” president who was merely elected by the American people. Not to mention - oh the horror! - Trump is a Republican and, worse, someone who never spent a professional day in Washington until elected President.  The larger question here is: Where is the media coverage of the left-leaning behemoth that is the federal bureaucracy?  Where are the Watergate-Woodward-and -Bernstein style investigations that plumb the depth of the oh-so-quiet political waters in Washington that quietly hum along in concrete mausoleum-style buildings that fill the Washington skyline? Here the thousands that run the Agriculture Department and there another cluster that runs the Education Department while over at the foot of Capital Hill is the Department of Labor’s Frances Perkins building, the latter named for liberal icon Franklin Roosevelt’s own Secretary of Labor who was also the first woman to serve in a presidential Cabinet. It is very safe to say that these cavernous buildings are not filled with Trump supporters. Or, in the way back, Reagan or Bush supporters. The hard fact here is that the liberal media loves the worker bees of the federal bureaucracy because, like the liberal media itself, the federal bureaucracy is filled with like-minded liberals. But suddenly, this very last week, the media has seen fit to discuss this fact. Here are a couple sample headlines: From The New York Times:  Trump Moves to Strip More Federal Workers of Union Protections The pre-Labor Day order included NASA, the National Weather Service and the agency that oversees Voice of America. And over there in Newsweek:  Trump Expands Push To Scrap Federal Workers' Union Deals The horrified Newsweek story reports:  “President Donald Trump has widened his effort to dismantle federal labor agreements, signing a new executive order on Thursday that adds several agencies to the growing list of departments where collective bargaining rights are being suspended.  … If implemented by the agencies, union covered federal workers would lose the protections typically guaranteed under collective bargaining agreements, such as access to neutral arbitration for workplace disputes and official time for union representatives to carry out negotiations and casework  … The latest order applies to a range of agencies, including NASA, the U.S. Agency for Global Media, the National Weather Service and the National Environmental Satellite, Data and Information Service within NOAA, the Bureau of Reclamation's hydropower program, and the Patent and Trademark Office's commissioner of patents office. … ‘President Trump is taking action to ensure that agencies vital to national security can execute their missions without delay and protect the American people,’ the White House said in a statement. ‘The President needs a responsive and accountable civil service to protect our national security.’ In short, the elected President of the United States - not the unelected federal bureaucrats who fill those concrete mega-boxes,-  has the audacity to think that he, not they, runs the country. Per the votes in a free election of the American people. The question here seems all too simple. Where has the media been in carrying out the kind of micro-coverage of the federal, unionized bureaucracy that is routinely applied to a losing football team? From federal Department to federal Department, unknown, decidedly anonymous federal bureaucrats, their political loyalties lying quite decidedly left, are running the bureaucracies of the nation’s capital. And unless the President-this one or any other - challenges their authority, they grind on. And take serious offense if so challenged by the elected President. Which brings us back to the sudden media coverage of the Center for Disease Control’s Director Susan Monarez and Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook. Up until dispatched by the elected President Trump, they toiled along virtually anonymously, bringing their left-leaning politics to the federal positions they hold. Regardless of the fact that Trump was the one elected and as such had every right to expect that his policies would be executed by the federal government of which he was now the elected chief executive. The all too obvious result? The liberal media swoops in to make both Monarez and Cook heroes. Painting them both as political Davids taking on that monstrous, terrifying Goliath President Trump. And in the case of Monarez, taking on HHS Secretary RFK Jr. Whatever else is to come, it is safe to say Americans can expect more voluminous media coverage of this fight, all of it tilted left to lionize these two particular targets of Trump’s battle with the Washington bureaucracy. Buckle in.

Justin Trudeau offered to save migrants from Trump; 8 years later Canadians are still paying the price

On January 28, 2017, in the immediate aftermath of President Trump’s first travel ban, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau sent out a tweet that would reverberate far beyond social media:To those fleeing persecution, terror & war, Canadians will welcome you, regardless of your faith. Diversity is our strength. #WelcomeToCanada.”Migrants and asylum-seekers in the United States took Trudeau at his word, and within weeks, illegal crossings over the Quebec-New York border surged, centered on a rural stretch known as Roxham Road. The majority of the border-crossers are from Haiti; any of them could well have come from Springfield, Ohio, where the Biden administration dumped thousands of Haitian 'refugees.'The surge was driven by a quirk in the Safe Third Country Agreement, a treaty between Canada and the U.S. dating back to 2004. Under the deal, asylum-seekers are supposed to file their claims in the first safe country they arrive in.But the STCA applied only at official checkpoints. Those who walked across back roads like Roxham were exempt — and once on Canadian soil, they were entitled to have their cases heard. This loophole transformed Roxham into the busiest irregular crossing in the country.Invite revokedWhat began as symbolic anti-Trump signaling had become a full-blown crisis by the time Joe Biden took office in January 2021. Quebec’s shelters and reception centers filled beyond capacity, municipalities complained of mounting costs, and national polls showed Canadians increasingly skeptical of how the border was being managed. The issue also spilled across the border. Even as Biden faced criticism for presiding over border chaos in Texas and Arizona, his administration quietly pressed Ottawa to rein in irregular migration to the north. In March 2023, Trudeau and Biden announced an expanded Safe Third Country Agreement that closed the Roxham Road loophole, giving Canadian officials authority to turn back asylum-seekers anywhere along the border if caught within 14 days of entry.Smuggle sessionThe irony was hard to miss: Washington was leaning on Canada to tighten a rural crossing in Quebec at the very moment its own southern border remained mired in crisis. Trudeau’s lofty promise of welcome had ended, six years later, in a deal to keep more people out.But Roxham Road is very much open today — thanks to organized crime groups making a tidy profit from smuggling people across the border.A recent investigation by Rebel News confirmed reports of rampant human trafficking after Churubusco, New York, resident Jerry Miller contacted the conservative news outlet about an escalation in activity at the border.According to Miller, the vast majority of those being surreptitiously moved across the border are from Haiti; any of them could well have come from Springfield, Ohio, where the Biden administration dumped thousands of Haitian “refugees.”Haitians head northWhy are they heading north?Their motivation to come to Canada could certainly be linked to Trump’s decision to end Temporary Protected Status for more than 500,000 Haitians living in the U.S. A Rebel News reporter found Haitian ID cards at the scene, along with discarded backpacks, clothes, and food. In one night, a Rebel News reporter using an infrared camera caught 23 people crossing.Hunter Robare, who lives on the same street as Miller, described the situation. "It's every day.""It can be pretty nerve-racking," Robare added. "Just being at home and you have a group of people walking down the road; you don't know their intentions."RELATED: Blaze News investigates: Springfield sees lives saved, Haitian exodus thanks to Trump's deportation threats Photo by ANDREW CABALLERO-REYNOLDS/AFP via Getty ImagesLegal increaseOf course, this is just illegal immigration. Under Trudeau and continuing under Prime Minister Mark Carney, legal immigration increased at rates not seen in over a century. The combination of chronic illegal immigration and lax legal immigration is producing a potential economic catastrophe for Canada, prompting Alberta Immigration Minister Joseph Schow to demand that the federal government accurately assess the illegal immigrant population.“I’m not going to sugarcoat it: We believe there’s 500,000 illegal immigrants currently spread across Canada, and these individuals are benefiting from taxpayer-funded services,” said Schow.Meanwhile, more than eight years after Trudeau's fateful invitation, the human traffickers at Roxham Road continue to thrive.
