An off-duty officer says he was playing video games at about 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday when he was alerted to the presence of two teenagers allegedly trying to steal items from his wife's car in front of their Florida home. Video footage from surveillance cameras at the officer's home was released by the Bunnell Police Department. "I was playing video games‚ and I started getting alerts on my phone. And as I looked at the cameras‚ I see two males‚ one hiding behind the car‚ my wife's car‚ pulling the door handle‚ seeing if it was unlocked‚" said the officer‚ who didn't want to be identified for safety reasons. The officer confronted the teens. "I said‚ ‘Hey‚ this is the wrong neighborhood. Obviously‚ there's multiple patrol vehicles in here‚ and you picked the wrong one‚'" he continued. The incident unfolded at a housing development where many police officers lived. The officer said the teenagers ran off on foot‚ and he hopped into his patrol vehicle to chase after them. He drove after them before jumping out of the car and chasing after them on foot. Eventually‚ Flagler County sheriff's deputies helped him apprehend the two teens. The suspects were aged 16 and 17 years old. They were charged with three counts of burglary of an unoccupied conveyance. One of the underage suspects claimed that he was trying to obtain money to pay his phone bill‚ but the officer who helped capture them said that was no excuse. "They can use any excuse they want to use‚ but you're taking away from people that earn hard for what they have‚" he said. "I know that they had no remorse trying to go into people's vehicles and trying to flee from the officers that were on scene." The two teenagers were released to the custody of their parents after being processed. "I literally told the officers that showed up‚ I was like‚ ‘I did not think this was going to happen on my only day off‚’" the officer joked. A man was shot and killed after trying to rob another man using a fake gun made out of a screwdriver duct-taped to a piece of wood‚ according to Florida police. Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd told reporters in a media briefing that the lethal incident resulted from a pre-planned robbery gone awry. Christian MacDonald arranged to meet with Robert Rafael Cruceta Pimentel at the Tropicana Resort Motel in Davenport on Tuesday just before midnight in order to purchase marijuana from him‚ according to detectives. Unbeknowst to MacDonald‚ Cruceta Pimentel had allegedly plotted with a third man‚ Harold Sepulveda-Cruz‚ to rob him with the fake gun. When Cruceta Pimentel got into the car with MacDonald‚ Sepulveda-Cruz jumped into the back of the car‚ pointed the fake gun at the back of MacDonald's head‚ and began beating him with it. He demanded that MacDonald hand over the money and drugs while the man pleaded with Cruz to not shoot. MacDonald then pulled out a very real 9mm handgun and shot behind him 10 times‚ striking Sepulveda-Cruz and killing him. Police said Cruceta Pimentel grabbed the drugs and the money and tossed them over the fence of the hotel before MacDonald called the police to report the burglary and shooting. Cruceta Pimentel was charged with second-degree murder and nine additional charges. Judd noted the irony that a man lost his life over such a small amount of money. "If our robber‚ Harold Cruz‚ as the information came to us‚ was high on drugs that night and needing to hit a lick for a quick fix‚ if his buddy had just loaned him $100‚ he'd still be alive today‚" said the sheriff. "So while Robert had $900 in his pocket‚ he sat there while Harold got shot over a $140 and an eighth of an ounce of marijuana‚" he added. Spirit Airlines has now fired a gate agent who placed an unaccompanied minor on the wrong flight just before Christmas.Last Thursday‚ 6-year-old Casper Ramos of Philadelphia was preparing to spend Christmas with his grandmother Maria Ramos. As Grandma Ramos lives in Florida‚ Casper was about to go on a plane ride for the first time ever. Family members dropped him off at Philadelphia International Airport and placed him in the care of Spirit Airlines‚ which assists unaccompanied minors ages 5 to 14 on direct domestic flights.However‚ as Blaze News reported on Tuesday‚ somewhere along the way‚ there was a mix-up‚ and Casper ended up in Orlando‚ nearly four hours from his intended destination of Fort Myers. What's worse is Grandma Ramos didn't even learn about the mistake until Casper FaceTimed her from the Orlando airport."He goes‚ 'Mama‚ I'm in the airport.' I said‚ 'Give me an adult‚ Casper‚ that is with you.' He said‚ 'No‚ Grandma‚ I don't have anyone with me‚'" Maria Ramos recalled‚ according to Fox 4 Southwest Florida.Maria eventually spoke with an adult‚ learned that Casper was in Orlando‚ and hopped in her car to drive about 160 miles to pick him up. "This agent is no longer working with Spirit‚ and any individual whose actions resulted in the incorrect boarding will be held accountable for failing to follow our procedures."The statement also claimed that the airline has "policies and procedures in place to prevent this type of situation from happening" and that it has been "in communication with the child’s family about this matter."The news has brought some relief for Maria. "I’m happy about getting answers after seven days‚" she said."They called me‚ and they told me‚ 'I’m sorry‚ it’s our mistake.' I guess they looked at the camera‚" she added.Still‚ Maria told news outlets that she still wants to learn more details about the mix-up. "I want more‚ and I really want to see videos‚" she said.
